Chapter 7: The Threatening Trio

“It feels nice not having the floor disappear for a change,” I said as Luigi and I trotted up the spiral staircase.

“You would be surprised with how much that happens,” Luigi said, and I saw a little look of horror on his face.

“If only I could have cast the staircase spell,” I said as I saw Luigi’s face change.

“Spell? Like magic spell?” Luigi asked.

“Yes, it’s practically what I’m best at,” I said as I pointed to my horn.

“That explains the light from your horn,” Luigi said.

“Yeah, it’s quite a simple spell,” I said as we continued to walk up the staircase.

“The only real magic here is from the wand of a Magickoopa so I’m not that familiar with magic,” Luigi explained.

“Hm, I might be able to help with some inventions for a magic substitute,” I said after a few seconds of silence.

“I’m sure Egad would be over the moon, he’s always trying to find someone to help with his inventions from time to time,” Luigi said.

“I may not know a lot about inventions but I would be glad to help, depending on if inter-dimensional travel is something I can withstand more of,” I said with a little chuckle.

“Just as long as we don’t have to catch each other every time,” Luigi chuckled as we reached the top of the staircase and saw a door.

“Shall we head in?” I asked. “I say we shall,” Luigi said as he opened the door as we stepped into a strange room.

“Woah, I thought you didn’t have magic here?” I asked.

“We…don’t,” Luigi said nervously. The room had reddish walls, a red carpet floor, a brown ceiling…and flying dice blocks with money trees.

“Perfectly normal things to have in a palace, right?” I asked.

“Not from any palace my brother and I have explored before,” Luigi said as we looked around the room. Nothing was out of the ordinary, yet everything was out of the ordinary, was that even possible? The room felt like a magician’s paradise with all the magic tricks, I wondered if Trixie would love this place now that I think about it. Me and Luigi went into the next few rooms and it was the same general thing. There was a room that was turned upside down, there was a bedroom that was just full of beds for some reason, it was crazy and didn’t make sense.

“I don’t think this is normal in this world?” I asked Luigi.

“Not even close Twilight, not even close, we don’t sleep on the walls for starters,” Luigi said as we kept exploring this strange world of the second floor.

“Well, this room looks new,” I said as after what felt like days of walking around, we entered this room with this giant stage with seating.

“Oh no,” Luigi said upon seeing this room.

“Oh no what?” I asked nervously.

“I’ve seen this floor before, back on my last adventure,” Luigi explained as he told me about these magic suites.

“There were these three magician sisters who caused me a lot of trouble, trapped me in a hat, flipped me around, and treated me just like dirt, well, almost every ghost in that hotel did,” Luigi explained with fear, clearly in his voice.

“Is it possible that these sisters you speak of are here? In this very palace?” I asked. Right when it seemed that Luigi was about to respond with an answer that I knew he wanted to be wrong, the lights went out, covering the room in darkness, our flashlights being the only light source.

“Wh….wh….wh….wh…wh….what was…..that?” Luigi asked, struggling to speak just of how terrified he sounded.

“It’ll be alright Luigi,” I said as I did what I could to comfort Luigi, even though I couldn’t see him very well in this darkness. I was about to cast another spell when something else happened on stage. A spotlight appeared on stage and a single purple hat appeared, and two purple ghosts appeared. These ghosts were purple, a very similar purple to my coat. They also had blond hair in different styles and these dark purple suits they wore.

“Plummer and Pony, welcome to your tombs! Lights and magic, say hi to your doom! When we attack you, it’s all you knew, you're done, we already won!” The two ghosts sang as they laughed while a third ghost came out of the purple hat with a magic wand in her hand.

“Missed us, plumber? Don’t worry, we won’t take long!” The third ghost said with an evil smile on her face.

“Who are you?” I asked strictly as I saw Luigi was too scared to speak.

“Who are we? This is an interesting pony, are you now?” The third ghost said as the three ghosts huddled up.

“We’re Nikki, Lindsey, and last but not least, Ginny, and we are the three magic sisters!” The three of them exclaimed as smoke then filled the stage.

“I should have known King Boo and Hellen would have let the ghost from my last adventure free,” Luigi quietly said, his voice still covered in fear.

“Say, we’ve never had the chance to ride a pony before, do you take rides ms pony?” Ginny asked.

“I certainly do not!” I exclaimed with anger.

“Oh well, we wanted to have a ride before we have to end you, but before that, let’s have some fun!” Lindsey said as she then pulled out her magic wand.

“Not this time!” I said as I activated my Ponygust and shot my flashlight at them, only for their magician hats to cover their eyes.

“Our eyes, our rules, SMILE! You two are…framed!” Nikki said as she pulled out her wand, summoned these pinkish chains, and surrounded us with them.

“The boss wants to capture you two himself, wait here for him, will you?” Ginny said as the sisters laughed while they floated through the walls, leaving us trapped in chains.

“Oh no, we're dead meat,” Luigi said in a defeated voice.
