It Was Inevitable After All

9pm, Canterlot High School.

“Celestia, tell me why you have allowed those two back into our school.” Luna inquired, walking up to her sisters desk after shutting the door, careful not to slam it. “You do remember the chaos and mishaps they caused during the Battle of the Bands, are you sure it’s wise to let them attend here again?”

“Sister, didn’t we give Sunset a chance?” Luna nodded. “Well, look at how she turned out. Shes a good girl now and perhaps the same will happen with those two.”

“Even so, I’m sure that it wouldn’t be safe for them here.” Celestia gave a quizzed look. “I mean, you do remember what happened to Sunset after the Fall Formal, she was verbally and sometimes even physically attacked. I’m not sure we should put them through that.”

“Relax, Luna. I know of seven different girls who can succour and defend them through situations in that manner. They’ll be ok.”

“If you say so.”

Meanwhile, while that conversation was going, Sonata was trapped in her locker.

Somebody had supposedly locked her in on purpose and I think we can all guess why. Sonata had banged her palms against the door, hoping that it would somewhat free her, it didn’t. She didn’t even have her phone on her since she left it in her bag, which was with Aria and the girls, this realisation started to make her panic even more.

The other girls had caught on to Sonata’s disappearance and were now looking for her. The janitors closet, the gymnasium, the cafeteria, she was nowhere to be seen. Suddenly, Sunset, fearing for the worst, ran up to the locker area. She couldn’t exactly pinpoint Sonatas locker so she relied on her hearing, and sure enough, judging by her past experiences, she was right.

She followed the sounds of quiet sobbing and it eventually leaded her up to a locker, Sonatas locker.

“Oh my goodness!” Sunset yelled. “Quick, tell me your locker code!”

“27, 25…13.” Came the little voice behind the locker. Sunset quickly put in the code and the lock finally unlocked. Sunset pulled the door open and her heart quite literally tore at the sight of what lied before her eyes. Sonata was a sobbing mess, she was shaking, she was sweaty, her hair was messy and her fists and palms were bruised from what seemed to be constant banging.

Sunset quickly helped the girl up and was swifty brought into a tight hug by the sobbing girl. “I-I was so scared…” Was all she could say before again breaking out into more quiet sobs. Sunset could see herself in Sonata. She put her right arm around the crying girl and with her left, she texted everyone to meet in the library. She helped Sonata to the library, it was partially empty since noone cares much for studying anymore. They sat themselves down at one of the tables, away from the others as Sunset brought a tissue box up to Sonata. Sonata took one and wiped a tear away from her face while Sunset helped fix up her hair. Sunset checked her phone again to see if her friends had caught on to the message and sure ‘nuff they did and were heading towards them.

Around two minutes passed and everyone was now here, surprised but not really surprised this happened, it was inevitable after all.

Now Aria and Sonata have only shown contempt for eachother (mostly Aria) for their whole lives, but in this moment, Aria was just so enraged. Her blood boiled at the thought of her ‘younger sister’ being pushed into a locker and locked in for god knows how long. Sonata’s sensitive which also makes it ten times worse when you realise what shes gone through in that locker.

Aria saw the state Sonata was in and immediately went to her side, this was the first anyone had seen her so protective over someone, that someone being Sonata. “Who did this to you!?” She questioned furiously. “I’ll smash their heads in!” Sonata was taken aback, was Aria trying to comfort her?

“I-I don’t know, they just came from behind me and pushed me in my locker.” Sonata admitted. “I didn’t get to see their face, but I do know that it was probably two people… no, three I think?”

“Well, I’ll find them and make sure they fucking pay.” Aria turned her head and mumbled to herself before turning back to Sonata and putting her hand on her shoulder.

“I don’t think we should resort to violence, what we should do is inform Principal Celestia and Vice-Principal Luna.” Twilight awkwardly added, pushing her glasses up to her face with her index and middle finger (the nerdy way basically).

“Twilight’s right, dear. Violence will never solve this.” Rarity joined in. “Principal Celestia might even help find out who was behind this incident.”

Sunset turned to Sonata who was now looking at the ground with her two hands inbetween her thighs. “Are you comfortable with telling Principal Celestia, Sonata?” Sunset gently asked, placing a hand on her lap. “Or do you wanna wait a while?”

Sonata turned to Aria and whispered something to her. “She’s still a bit shaken up from what happened, it’s best if we deal with this later.” Aria spoke for Sonata, surprisingly, in a gentle, calm and composed tone. Any thoughts she had about committing acts of violence to the perpetrator were washed away seeing as Sonata would gain nothing from it, maybe except the sadistic satisfaction. Maybe it’s time they use different approaches to situations like this.

They stayed like that for a while until the bell rang for first period. Aria and Sonata were once again separated, but atleast Sonata shared the same class with Applejack who mentioned “If anybody messes with ya, ya go straight me or any of our friends, we wont let anything like this happen again to ya, you understand?” Sonata nodded and continued walking to their class. Applejack took on a defensive stand next to Sonata, letting people know that if they mess with Sonata, they mess with her.

Still, both Sonata and Aria could feel people still flashing glares at them, it was going to take a while to get forgiven.

After class in the cafeteria:

“You reckon we tell Principal Celestia what happened?” Sunset asked. “You know this can’t go unpunished. If you don’t tell, they’re going to think it’s okay treating you like that, even though it’s not.”

“But, I don’t wanna be a snitch.” Sonata retaliated. “Then I’m just gonna get a big fat target on my back.” She lowered her head.

“Sugarcube, what did I tell you before?” Applejack reminded, putting a hand on Sonatas shoulder. “Nobody’s gonna do nothing to ya with us on your side. You’ve got nothing to worry ‘bout.” Sonata felt a wave of reassurance fall over her, she turned to Aria but she was just looking around the cafeteria.

Aria didn’t say anything, instead, looking around at all of the potential perpetrators in the room, wondering who it was that committed such a heinous act. She soon turned around and said “I think we should tell Principal Celestia now. It just feels like the right moment.”

The rest of the girls agreed, though Pinkie was still in the middle of eating, she quickly grabbed the rest of it and quite literally put it into the far depths of her hair and followed the rest of the girls out of the cafeteria.

During the walk to the principals office, Aria protectively had her arms around Sonatas shoulders, I guess that's her way of showing affecting I guess…

Sonata was still so surprised, Aria had never helped or cared about her this way and to see her so protective was so… weird. The walk from the cafeteria to the principals office was short but to Sonata, it felt super long. Thoughts ranging from “What if she doesn’t care?” to “What if she says it’s my fault for making myself a target?” were slowly overpowering her that she actually started to believe the atrocious act committed against her was justified.

Finally, they end up in front of the door and Rainbow wastes no time opening the door, Celestia was there, but so was a familiar young lady with bushy two toned orange hair.

“Turns out they did beat me to it.”
