SHADOW FLAME
2 Years later
Shadow flame leaned back into his chair and tuned out his teacher Mr. Writer’s lesson. He chuckled to himself as he saw His brother Cerulean flash Taking notes. Cerulean flash was the bigger nerd of the two of them, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t a good athlete. Cerulean was the best dang flyer you’ll ever see. Shadow was just a unicorn but he matched his brothers flying skill with his own skill with magic. Most spells just came naturally to him and he couldn’t see what was so hard about a simple levitation spell.
He closed his eyes under his black glasses and dozed off. He awoke to the sound of the bell ringing. His brother tapped him on the shoulder and said, “Come on its lunch time.” Shadow flame’s horn glowed a dark crimson and his lunch bag was levitated onto his back.
He stuck his hooves into the air and stretched. He slowly got out of his chair while his brother tapped his hoof impatiently, “come on lunch won’t last forever and I want to be able to have time for recess” He whined. “All right, all right” Shadow flame said and he started walking to the door all the other colts and fillies already gone from the room. “See you in an hour Mr. Writer” Cerulean said happily speed walking next to shadow flame.
Shadow flame just sighed and proceeded to a large blue room full of chattering ponies. He sat down at an empty table and his brother plopped down next time his brown paper bag torn open in seconds. Shadow just shook the contents of his lunch out of the bag. A hay sandwich and a small bottle of water fell out. “What’s the point of living in a castle if all you get to eat for lunch is slop,” He thought to himself. Slowly he picked up his sand which and began to take a bite.
When he finished his sandwich he followed the rest of the school out side to a yard filled with swings and slides. He sat down next to a tree and closed his eyes. A rock hit the ground next to him and causing him to wake up. He saw a small colt with spindly legs being pushed to the ground repeatedly by a buff colt with thick legs and large chubby cheeks. The small one had bruises all over him and the big one was sniggering as he shoved him towards shadow flame. Shadow flame just stuck his hoof up stopping the small colt from falling down.
“Jeeze Thinneret you can’t have ponies pushing you around like that” Shadow flame said “sorry” The colt named thinneret said lowering his head but shadow flame was already walking towards the bully. He looked to his left and saw Cerulean flash joining him. “What do you want?” the bully said to the advancing colts. “Oh shut up Steelshot” Cerulean flash said. Shadow flame just stared at steelshot and said, “I hate ponies like you,” He raised a hoof menacingly. “I don’t want any trouble” steelshot replied quickly sweat sliding down his face. “Yeah I bet thinneret didn’t want any trouble but did you listen no, and now your going to pay” Shadow flame said and charged at him Cerulean by his side. Shadow flame’s hoof connected with Steelshot’s jaw and there was a sickening crunch. The next few seconds were utter madness as dust was sprayed everywhere hooves hit hooves and all that. When the dust cleared Shadow flame had a bloody lip and one of ceruleans eyes was turning a shade of purplish-black. Steelshot was looking way worse. His face was covered in blood and bruises and some bile cascaded down his chin. One of his legs was bent the wrong. Unfortunately at that same moment Mr. Writer saw them and started walking over.
“You two in the principle’s office now” he said fuming. He looked at steelshot’s limp body “and somebody get him to the nurse.” He grabbed each one by the arm and dragged them into a small room with two chairs and a brown horse sitting behind a desk. Mr. Writer planted them into the chairs and then left the room.
The horse looked at them “what have you two gotten into today” He asked. “It wasn’t our fault steelshot was beating him up and had to stop him” Cerulean Started but The principle stopped him with a raised hoof. “I know but unfortunately fighting is against school rules so I’m going to have to call your brother to come and get you.
His horn glowed and he sent a gray flare through the window. Within a couple of minutes Ordelius black walked through the doors a scowl on his face. “Really guys,” he said “that’s the 3rd fight this week.” Shadow flame and his brother just lowered their heads as ordelius escorted them through the school doors.
“I was talking to my boss about getting a raise when I got his message” He said “and now I have to wait another 2 weeks before I can talk to him one on one.” He left them at a very large building with golden spirals. “Well you two behave your selves I have to go back to work” And with that he left. Shadow just looked at cerulean and they both broke out laughing.
End of Chapter One
Celestia leaned back on her throne and watched as her two-second cousins wrestled. They’re turning 7 soon Celestia thought, that means that they’ll show which type of pony they are soon.
Alicorns are a very special species. They don’t get to be actual Alicorns with a horn and wings until they’re full grown. When they’re about 7 they either get a horn or wings.
Celestia watched as Cerulean Streak the white and blue one, Pushed Shadow Flame the red and black one to the floor. Shadow flame bit Cerulean on the leg and he yelped. “Hey no fair, no biting” Cerulean said. “Prove it” Shadow retorted.
Cerulean then trotted over to Celestia “Aunt Celestia shadow flames cheating” He whined. “nuhuh” Shadow Flame yelled. “Ahuh” Cerulean flash replied and then jumped on Shadow flame. Shadow flame hit Cerulean streak in the nose while Cerulean kicked him in the stomach.
Celestia sighed and her horn glowed yellow levitating the two colts away from each other. “If I had known you two were this much trouble I wouldn’t have offered to babysit you, and where is your older brother he should be back from school by now?” she said.
Just as she finished her sentence a tall black and white horse Ran into the room. “ House…fire…come quick” he said and then collapsed on the floor. “You three stay here,” Celestia said as she bolted out the doors and into the streets of Canterlot.
She looked up and saw a pillar of smoke spiraling into the cloudless blue sky. She took a deep breath and ran towards the source of it. When she arrived she saw dozens of unicorns earth ponies and pegasi throwing buckets of water into the fire.
She recognized one of her royal guards and ran up to him “What happened here?” she said out of breath. “Some sort of fire” he replied, “luckily only two ponies were killed.” “Who were they?” Celestia asked dreading his answer. “ A mare and a horse” He replied, “ married from the look of it.” Celestia collapsed on the ground “What am I going to tell the boys?” She cried.
The guard helped her up “don’t worry princess, we’ll sort this out you should just go back to your castle” He said “Its almost nighttime too.” Celestia looked up and saw that in all the confusion the sun was beginning to set. Celestia lowered her head and started to walk back to the castle.
When she arrived there she saw that Ordelius was slumped next to two red and blue blobs covered by a blanket. He Lifted his head as Celestia walked in “something wrong?” He asked groggily? “It’s nothing” She said “just go back to bed” He nodded sleepily and closed his eyes.
