Pre-A/N: This chapter contains sensitive subject matter. When the sensitive subject matter pops up, a warning will be given before hand.

It was the day following Sunset's playtime with Twilight Sparkle. The orange mare had told her teacher that she wished to check on her mother due to not hearing a peep from her for two weeks straight.

"If I recall, your hometown is a two days journey round trip. At least, by train." Celestia said.

"By train is the only way; I'd nearly exhaust my magic reserves teleporting there and teleporting back. You told me to be careful with that, remember?" Sunset asked.

"I do remember saying something to that effect yes..." Celestia said. "But, that's why I decided to call in a bit of a favor." Suddenly, a black cat creature wearing purple gloves came into the room, seeming a little long winded.

"Geez, this castle never gets any easier to navigate." The black cat said before turning to look at Sunset. "Ah, you have to be Tia's student. Sunset Shimmer right?" The cat asked.

"That's correct..." Sunset said. She never knew her mentor had a nickname. Must make this cat a really close friend or something... The unicorn thought to herself.

"Name's Alli; seems you're going to be seeing me a lot in the future since your Tia's student." The Black Cat said.

"You have to be really good friends with the Princess then..." Sunset said.

"Eh...it's complicated actually. Anyways, seems your mentor wants me to give you the two-way fast travel today." Alli said.

"Fast what?" Sunset Shimmer asked; after doing so, Alli grabbed one of Sunset's hooves.

"Don't worry, you'll understand shortly." Alli said and then suddenly things warped all around the duo.

Before Sunset knew it, she and Alli were in Sire's Hallow, and it took Sunset a few moments to get her eyes readjusted.

"Wh-what just happened? That wasn't a teleportation spell..." Sunset said.

"Nope. I just took you on the railways through the Digital World." Alli said. "I'm sure Tia's going to explain this to you in-depth later, but the whole reason Digimon can be seen around Equees is because your planet is in very close proximity to the place where Digimon come from in the first place. That place is called the Digital World. Equees and the Digital World share a very similar wavelength, so it's very easy for Digimon to come and go throughout Equees with ease. It also allows us to easily ride the railways of the digital world to get from one location to another in Equees quickly not unlike your teleportation magic."

"Wh-what?" Sunset was a little confused.

"Like I said, your mentor will probably explain things more in-depth. You have other things to be worrying about." Alli said.

"My mother...sorry, I got distracted because of that digital warp..." Sunset said.

"Yeah...speaking of, I should probably go inside with you." Alli said. Sunset didn't really see the need for such a thing at face value, but once she was inside, the reason became clear.

Sensitive Content Warning! If you are someone who is sensitive to the concept of malnutrition, feel free to skip ahead past the following segment.

"M-mom!" Sunset said and rushed over to her mother; Stellar Flare looked like she hadn't eaten in two whole weeks.

"Yeah...not gonna sugar coat this: Her life signs are dropping. If she doesn't eat something soon, she's going to end up dying from being so malnourished." Alli said.

"I-I'll go grab some food out of the fridge from the kitchen. I'd hate to ask, but can you stay with her while I grab it?" Sunset asked.

"That was my plan in the first place." Alli said.

Sunset acted quickly, rushing into the kitchen and then grabbing a few things out of the fridge. She then quickly returned and began to forcefeed her mother. "How did this even happen in the first place? How did she let herself starve like this?" Alli asked.

Sunset took a moment to answer because she knew, deep down why. "S-she must have heard about how Sunburst went missing..." Sunset said and managed to get the last of the food in her mother's stomach.

This Concludes the sensitive content segment of the chapter. All those who skipped ahead can resume reading at this time.

"I've already notified Celestia. It's easy to send a letter when you use the Digital Railways." Alli said.

Just then, Celestia teleported into the house. "What is going--OH SWEET MOTHER FAUST!" Celestia announced. "We have to get Stellar Flare to Canterlot Hospital at once!"

Sometime later, at Canterlot Hospital

A doctor came into the waiting room where Sunset, Alli, and Celestia were waiting. "Boy Sunset is lucky that she got to her mother in time; any longer then today and she would've starved to death." The Doctor said. "She's resting now, we got her on a balanced food schedule. Of course, getting her recovered from such severe self-inflicted malnutrition is going to include more than just getting her well-fed. She'll have to take mandatory mental therapy and undergo physical rehab." He explained.

"Seems you made the right call with checking on your mother Sunset." Celestia said. "Don't worry, I'll cover the bill."

"I'm choosing not to think what would've happened had I had chosen to take the train..." Sunset said.

"Yeah, that's probably for the best." Alli admitted. "At least your mom's going to be fine now."

"Thank you Alli." Sunset said. "I guess I can understand why your such a good friend of the Princess now..."

"Like I said earlier: It's complicated. But don't worry about the details right now. When the time comes, I promise to tell you the full story~" Alli said, ending her statement with a wink.

"I'll hold you to that." Sunset said.

Author's Note

Malnutrition is a very serious condition, and this story is not trying to make fun of such a condition. I would also not recommend force feeding anyone you see whose suffering from Malnutrition a bunch of food like Sunset in this chapter. I am asking that you neither take the malnutrition scene in this story out of context nor should you think I am poking fun of malnourished individuals. That is not the purpose of the malnutrition scene in this chapter; it's meant for story telling purposes only.
