A Sunshyne Love Story
After the Fall Formal
Load Full StoryNext ChapterAfter the Fall Formal had ended Sunset Shimmer walked home completely defeated. When she finally got home, she laid down on the couch and started held a pillow tight.
“What if they don’t want to be my friends?” Sunset asked herself. “I wouldn’t blame them if they don’t want anything to do with me.”
Sunset soon fell asleep on the couch and began to dream. She found herself in an empty void.
“Hello? Is anyone there?” Sunset asked. But there was no answer. She continued to walk through the void and eventually found a mirror. It wasn’t just any mirror, however, it was the same mirror she had used to escape Equestria.
“What’s this doing here?” Sunset asked looking at her reflection. “Shouldn’t this be in Equestria?”
All of a sudden, Sunset’s reflection started to move and talk on its own.
“Shouldn’t you be in Equestria?” The reflection asked.
“What?” Sunset asked in shock. “Who are you?”
“Isn’t it obvious, I’m you. Or at least who you used to be.” Sunset’s reflection said.
“What are you talking about?” Sunset asked.
“You ruled the school with an iron fist. You had everyone trembling in fear of your presence. You had everything you could’ve wanted, but instead you blew your chance and ended up with nothing.” Sunset’s reflection answered.
“That’s not true.” Sunset said in self defense. “Twilight’s friends promised that they would teach me the magic of friendship.”
Sunset’s reflection started to laugh.
“Do you really think that they’re going to help you?” Sunset’s reflection said. “You’ve done nothing but bully them, lie to them, tear their friendship apart, and not to mention, you almost straight up destroyed them. What makes you think that they’d ever be willing to help you?”
Sunset tried to come up with a response, but she couldn’t think of anything to say. This made her reflection laugh even more.
“Can’t think of anything, can you? Exactly what I thought.” The reflection said. “There’s no use tryin to deny who you are. You can have everything again if you just embrace your dark side again.”
“No, I don’t want to be that person anymore.” Sunset said.
All of a sudden, Sunset’s reflection had transformed into her demon form which terrified Sunset even more.
“You can be that person again and you will.” the demon said as her arms popped out of the mirror and attempted to grab Sunset.
Sunset tried to run away, but the demon grabbed her by her legs and began to pull Sunset into the mirror with her.
“No. No! NO!” Sunset screamed as she was pulled into the mirror by the demon.
With one more scream, Sunset woke up to find herself back in her house sitting on her couch.
“It was only a nightmare.” Sunset said with a bit of relief.
Suddenly, Sunset heard a knock at the door. She opened it up and saw the one person she never expected to ever visit her.
“Hello, Sunset.” Fluttershy said with a smile on her face.
“Fluttershy? What are you doing here?” Sunset asked in confusion.
She expected Fluttershy to slap her across the face or call her all the names she used to call her, but instead Fluttershy smiled at her and placed her hand on Sunset’s shoulder.
“I came to check on you.” Fluttershy answered.
Sunset was shocked. Out of all the girls at Canterlot High, she treated Fluttershy the worst. And yet, here she was coming over to check on Sunset out of the kindness of her heart.
Sunset just hugged Fluttershy and began to cry.
“What’s wrong, Sunset?” Fluttershy asked.
“I’m sorry, Fluttershy.” Sunset said in between sobs. “For everything. For bullying you, lying to you, tearing your friendship with the others apart…”
Fluttershy wrapped her arms around Sunset and shushed softly into her ear. “It’s okay, Sunset.”
After breaking off the hug, Sunset asked Fluttershy if she could spend the night with her because she didn’t want to be alone at the moment which Fluttershy agreed to.
After changing into their pajamas, Fluttershy was about to go sleep on the couch, but Sunset stopped her.
“Fluttershy, wait, could you sleep in bed with me, please?” Sunset asked.
“Okay.” Fluttershy said.
Fluttershy joined Sunset in bed and laid down next to her.
“Fluttershy, I have to ask you something.” Sunset said. “I’ve been nothing but cruel to you ever since we met. Why are you being so nice to me?”
“You look like you needed it.” Fluttershy answered.
Sunset smiled and hugged Fluttershy again.
“Thank you.” Sunset said.
“You’re welcome.” Fluttershy responded.
“Fluttershy, I have to tell you something.” Sunset began. “Before you came over, I had a nightmare about that demon I turned into after I put on the crown.”
“Oh my goodness. That’s horrible.” Fluttershy responded concerned for Sunset. She then held Sunset tightly.
“What are you doing?” Sunset asked a little bit confused.
“As a child, whenever I had a nightmare, my mother would hold me tight in her warm embrace to make me feel better.”
“I do feel a little bit better.” Sunset responded.
Sunset looked up at Fluttershy’s face. Her beautiful cyan eyes and kind smile made Sunset feel safe and cared for.
“Are you okay?” Fluttershy asked.
“I’m not sure if I can go back to sleep.” Sunset answered.
“I think I might be able to help.” Fluttershy said.
“How?” Sunset asked.
Fluttershy took a deep breath and began to sing.
Hush now, quiet now
It's time to lay your sleepy head
Hush now, quiet now
It's time to go to bed
Hush now, quiet now
It's time to lay your sleepy head
Hush now, quiet now
It's time to go to bed
Sunset listen to Fluttershy’s soothing voice. It was like a choir of angels. She began to yawn and soon fell asleep in Fluttershy’s warm embrace.
“Good night, Sunset. Sweet dreams.” Fluttershy said.
With that, Fluttershy soon joined Sunset in the land of sleep, and she didn’t let go of Sunset once.
