Luna's Misfortunes
Chapter 2 - The Next Day...
Previous ChapterNext ChapterCelestia informs her staff that she will be taking the morning off to go check up on a friend. So, she stopped by her bedroom to pick up a small blue box and used her magic to grab a gold-coloured satchel from her wardrobe door to throw over her neck. Leaving her room, she then took to the sky and made her way to the outskirts of Ponyville. She heads to the Everfree Forest and finds the little clearing where Luna had said that the mare's house should be visible from the sky. And sure enough, she found it quite easily.
The princess made a smooth landing right outside the front door and suddenly heard a hiss. She turned her head up to see a pair of blue eyes staring at her, "Oh! Why hello... Aren't you adorable." She lifted a wing to give the cat a gentle rub under her chin with the tip of her white feathers, smiling when the black cat dropped her guard and began to purr loudly. The princess hears a voice from inside the house, "Sapphire, what is it girl?" The door opens up and..... the young purple mare freezes in place.
Realising royalty is at her door, she broke out of it and gave a low bow, "G-good evening Your Highness! What brings you here?" the young mare managed to stutter out in a flustered voice. She wasn’t expecting anyone tonight, let alone a princess at her front door!
"No need to bow Lavender.... you are good friends with my sister, so there's no need for formality here.” Lavender blushed, “How can I help you, Princess?”
“Well.... I'm actually here on behalf of Luna." Lavender was a little surprised, "Oh... is she ok?" But when the princess's face changed, the young mare knew.
"I'm afraid not. Luna is distraught Lavender.... She feels utterly awful for what happened."
"Oh! I might actually know how to help her feel better..." Lavender says with a smile appearing on her face. She allows the alicorn to enter her home and the Pegasus uses her magic to close the door before going to the kitchen. "Would you like anything Princess? Food, drink?" Celestia smiled, "Just call me Celestia... and Lemon Tea would be lovely."
"How do you have it.... Celestia?" Giggling internally at the pleasure of being on first name basis with the princess of Equestria, she listens to her careful instructions. Once the drink is made, she offers it to the mare, and she seems to enjoy the smell and the taste of it once Celestia takes a sip. "Thank you, Lavender." Lavender nods a smile and pours herself a cup to try. Then she went to a desk by the window in the office area of the open designed living room, grabbed a folder and joined the princess on the sofa opposite her. "This is what I've been working on since yesterday."
Celestia used her magic to take the folder, open it and have a look at the pages inside. She was stunned to find beautiful pieces of art from sketches to paintings. Most of them had one thing in common.... Hypnosis. "Wow, you are quite talented, aren't you? And... is it mostly Hypnosis? Where did this come from, may I ask?" Lavender smiled as she watched the princess flick through the pages slowly, having a good look at each piece she's done. "Well, you see.... I too felt bad for what happened. So, I thought of a solution! I'm opening up Hypnosis art all year round instead of just one month a year!" The alicorn stopped abruptly as she was about to take another sip of her steaming hot drink. "So.... you're happy doing this kind of art? I'm sure Luna would like to know this."
"Mmhm... it took me a while to get into it.... but it's not so bad. As long as I don't draw anything drastic like nude art. Then I'm happy to do it all year. BUT this doesn't mean I'm solely doing Hypnosis art. I very much want to focus on my main specialty of character design and environmental art. That's where my true passion lies. I've actually written a personal letter to Luna that I haven't sent yet explaining this growth in my business. It's because of the experience that I've opened myself up to this new type of art. So, it is also because of Luna. I really should be thanking her for this new chapter."
"That's great to hear Lavender! I think this will definitely help her feel much better. I could deliver her the letter personally if you'd like?" Lavender was surprised at the offer but grateful too. She accepted the offer and dug out the letter from her desk drawers. Handing it to the princess, they began to head outside. "Well... Thank you very much for the lovely cup of tea, and a nice evening with you, my friend. I look forward to telling Luna this news." Lavender used her magic to carry the empty cups to the kitchen sink and began to wash them in the background as she stood at the door. "You're most welcome Celestia, I look forward to seeing you both soon. I wish you safe travels, Your Highness, and a Good Night."
Before the princess took flight, she suddenly remembered the little box she hadn’t given the young pony yet. “Oh, my goodness, I almost forgot.” She said, turning back to the pony still standing in the doorway to her house. She opened up the flap to her golden satchel bag that hung from her neck. Lavender watched the alicorn pull out a beautiful midnight blue box tied up with a lighter blue silk ribbon. Celestia smiled, handing it to the pony who looked at her with a curious look. “I believe this belongs to you?”
“What’s this?” She used her turquoise magic to take the box gently and unwrap it. Lifting up the lid with her magical aura, her eyes widened in surprise. “Oh, my necklace! I must have left it in Luna's bedroom! Thank you!” Celestia chuckled while nodding. “Indeed, you did. I found it last night. It’s beautiful by the way. I didn’t know you enjoy crystals.” Lavender nodded excitedly, “Oh I do! I’ve always found them fascinating and love learning about them. I’ve been wanting to visit a digging site to experience digging up my own crystal from the earth but…” Celestia tilted her head, “Hm…. They’re quite exclusive with who they let in aren’t they? Maybe…. Just maybe I might be able to talk to them about letting you in if you’re interested in studying crystals.” Lavender’s jaw dropped… she hardly expected such an offer!
“Haha! I take it as a yes…. Very well! I’ll make an appointment with the Head of the Science School tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted on how it plays out.” She grinned as she watched the pony’s face change to one of joy. “Thank you so - so much for this!! If they accept me into the college, I won’t let you down!”
“I’m sure!” Celestia laughed and loved Lavender’s enthusiasm. She’ll be sure to share that with Professor Stone. He’ll be a hard one to convince to let a pony in just by pure passion alone. She’ll have to work hard…. Especially to impress him.
“Well… that’s all for tonight my dear… I’d better be heading back home.”
“Oh yes. Ok Celestia, I can’t thank you enough for this opportunity. Safe travels Princess, and hope you sleep well tonight!”
"Same to you Lavender. Goodnight my little pony. Thank you again." And so, the princess turned to the black cat that was now sitting on a stack of wood logs, meowing at the mare. Giving her a pet along her back, Celestia smiled, "Goodnight to you too little Sapphire." Receiving a gentle meow and purr in response the princess smiled at Lavender before taking off into the air with her large white wings flapping gracefully against the air currents towards the castle.
