Recovering the Meteorite, Reunions and Finding Out the Truth

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The other Bad Guys and Reva's cousins had finally turned a corner, and realized that Mr. Wolf and Reva may be right-- maybe they could have a better life on the side of good.

Well... almost everyone seemed to realize this.

Mr. Snake was heartbroken and betrayed when he discovered his friends, and even Gretchen, wanted to be good, and stormed out, leaving Gretchen deeply hurt herself, but... also proud of finally choosing the right thing.

But now, they had a bigger mission ahead-- they had to work with Zipp, Allura, Hitch and Twitch to get to Professor Marmalade's compound and help their friends get the meteorite back, so the heist and whatever Safira was planning can't happen.

But will they succeed in time?

That's exactly what we're gonna find out.

Meanwhile, the mind-controlled guinea pigs ran down the street, all being controlled by Professor Marmalade to go after the charity trucks heading all over the city, causing the guinea pig to laugh maniacally. “Faster, faster, my little pigs!”

One truck was about to reach a children's hospital with a man cutting the red ribbon with scissors. Suddenly, the truck thumped, and the driver looked back to discover that he had run over one of the guinea pigs, causing the kids outside the hospital to gasp in horror. At that moment, the guinea pig appeared to be fine, jumping up before being joined by others. And once there were more than one, all the guinea pigs present swarmed into the truck and kicked the driver out before driving away, leaving the children to cry instantly.

The same thing happened with several more trucks, one of those drivers going to a school when it happened, unable to stop the guinea pigs from stealing the truck and the money inside.

But, Professor Marmalade and Safira somehow knew that there would be those who would try and stop their plans. And when they did come... they would be ready.

At the same time as this was all going down, Mr. Wolf’s car pulled up to the gate outside of the penthouse, where Diane gave Mr. Wolf, Reva, Rogue, Misty, Sunny, Izzy and Pipp a few instructions on what to do after they had secured the space rock in question. “Once we steal the meteorite, we take it straight to the police.”

“And all will be forgiven,” Mr. Wolf chimed in with a cheerful smile. “I don’t know about all, Wolfie,” Misty said slowly before patting him with her hoof, “but… it’s a start.”

“I guess this is gonna be using your maximum sneaky skills you showed with Opaline to good use, isn’t it, Misty-Twisty?” Izzy said, nudging Misty slightly and causing her to chuckle nervously. “I had a feeling that they would someday.”

“Uh… maximum sneaky skills? What does she mean, Misty?” Rogue tilted his head. “And who’s Opaline?”

“Story for another time,” Reva told the cheetah cub as they swiftly got out of the car. “Right now, we have a space rock to snag.”

And so, with Mr. Wolf and Diane taking the lead, the group managed to get over the fence, ducking through the yard and over to the side of the building, where Misty and Izzy used their magic to make their hooves, feet and paws stick to the side of the wall while Pipp used her wings to silently fly to the top and help them up.

Once they were at the top of the building, Mr. Wolf and Diane secured ropes for them to use to lower themselves inside the room where the meteorite was, with Reva and Rogue riding on Misty and Izzy’s backs.

And once they had made it down to the ground again, Diane, Rogue and the ponies began searching for a way to get the meteorite away from those mechanical arms when suddenly, Mr. Wolf and Reva spotted the Golden Dolphin statue just sitting on a pedestal, no security measures around it whatsoever.

Reva tilted her head curiously at this. “That’s strange. Why would Marmalade leave the Golden Dolphin unprotected?”

“Have you not seen any heist movies?” Pipp asked with the roll of her eyes. “The Golden Dolphin is obviously unprotected because it’s a trap.”

“Or maybe…” Mr. Wolf said, preparing to grab the award, only for Diane to break away from the others to stop him. “Wait, wait, wait!”

But the second Mr. Wolf touched it, they all received an electrical zap before falling to the ground unconscious, allowing a hidden Safira to smirk wickedly and slowly try to make her next move.

When Reva and her friends woke up, they discovered they had been tied up with ropes hooked to the ceiling, with the ponies' hooves, horns and wings restrained. “Yep…” she deadpanned, glancing over at Mr. Wolf scoldingly. “It was definitely a trap.”

“Told you!” Pipp strained as she tried to get her wings to move. “Heist movies are NEVER wrong! Well… they’re only wrong on very slim occasions.”

“Well, well, well… if it isn’t my prize pupil, his pet and their little horsey friends?” Professor Marmalade chimed as he and Safira strutted in, wicked smirks imprinted on their smug little faces. “And, you’ve brought along Rogue and the governor!”

“Or should we say,” Safira added as she quickly shot Diane a dirty look, “the Crimson Paw!”

Diane growled in anger, her eyes narrowing while Rogue looked a bit nervous hanging in front of the giant dragon. Then, Professor Marmalade pulled out Diane’s ring and plucked the diamond right off of it. “Mm, what an ingenious way to disguise the Zumpango Diamond-- hiding it in plain sight.”

Sunny looked over at Diane with wide eyes. “You’ve gotta be kidding me!”

“What?” Diane smirked a bit. “I’m sentimental.”

“You always did have panache,” Professor Marmalade said as he tucked the diamond into his pocket. “And yet, you still fell right into my trap.”

“But one thing doesn’t make any sense,” Misty said with a confused look. “How did you guys know we would be here? Even Safira can’t read minds.”

“Oh, I can’t,” Safira responded to the blue unicorn with a bit of a proud smirk. “We got a little tip… from a dear, dear friend of yours.”

Suddenly, the door opened to let in a figure that the group immediately recognized... Mr. Snake himself. “Hey, buddy. How’s it hanging?”

“...Snake?!” Rogue, Reva and the four ponies exclaimed with wide eyes of shock and betrayal, while Mr. Snake merely chuckled and approached Professor Marmalade and Safira, wrapping his tail around the professor. “What can I say? The three of us just clicked.”

“Oh, yeah?” Mr. Wolf challenged while Reva tried her best not to look hurt. “How’s it feel to be working for your favorite food?”

“Ah, you’re just jealous to be missing out on the heist of the century. It’s got everything: betrayal, a meteor, mind control…” Mr. Snake quipped before turning back to Professor Marmalade, who was now holding the mind control helmet. “Can I try it on?”

“Of course… partner,” Professor Marmalade put the helmet on Mr. Snake’s head, which he smirked at. “Nice,” he said as he began to use the helmet. “All the crime with none of the exercise.”

“What about all that flower of goodness talk?” Mr. Wolf then questioned. “Was it all just a lie?”

“Uh, pretty much, yeah. You see, I never cared about what's good. Only what's good for me! Like, say, a billion dollars!” Professor Marmalade said just before he felt a tingle run across his entire body. “Oh, I just got a tingle.”

“Ugh… you’re never gonna get away with this!” Reva snarled. “We’re gonna stop you, just you wait!”

“Oh, really?” Safira raised an eyebrow. “Well, I severely doubt that… since you couldn’t stop me and my brethren from killing your parents.

Reva’s eyes went wide at this, and the others looked at each other with wide eyes as the poor tiger cub tried to process this news. “No… no, that’s not possible!”

“Oh, it is,” Safira said deviously. “You see, the Dark Dragons and Mythix Tigers have been enemies for longer than we care to admit. One day, me and my two sisters, Brunnera and Midori decided to attack the valley without mercy, and destroy it just as they had destroyed our peaceful ways many years prior. But unfortunately… your parents allowed you the opportunity to escape.”

Suddenly… Reva began to remember it all as if it happened yesterday.

XXXXXXXX

The Valley of Mythix was burning with all sorts of shade of blue, green and violet fire, and most of the adult tigers, including Oran’s parents (Gabriel and Asaka), Zari’s parents (Takia and Morto) and Carmine’s parents (Ellian and Arian) tried to put out the fire while Gretchen’s parents (Perali and Oriko) and Reva’s parents (Neven and Sakira) tried to get the cubs out of the valley using a hidden, cub-sized tunnel.

Oriko nudged Zari’s rear to push her closer to the tunnel. “Go, kids! Go and get as far away from the valley as you can! We’ll take care of the fire and find you as soon as we can!”

“Daddy, please!” Gretchen sobbed in fear. “I want you and Mama to come with us!”

“I’m sorry, baby, but we can’t! You’re the future of our kind,” Perali sniffled, “and we can’t risk losing you!”

“Promise us you’ll be okay, Mom!” Reva pleaded as her cousins began to crawl through the tunnel as their parents instructed them to do. “We can’t lose you either!”

“We promise, baby!” Sakira sobbed as the cubs ran through the tunnel as the fires engulfed the valley whole. “Run! RUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!”

“...after you five cubs escaped from the valley, I figured your parents' plan out first and went out to find you while my sisters went out to battle the tigers and ensure they fell to their deaths that day,” Safira said, continuing the story wickedly, not bothering to look at the others. “...my sisters died that day as well. And once I found you cubs in your exhausted state, I vowed to get the ultimate revenge for my sisters' fate. So, I’ve been using you idiots ever since I found you to regain my strength and ensure another Mythix Tiger would never bother me or cause me harm again. There-- now… you know the whole story.”

No one said not a word for a moment.

Not even Professor Marmalade.

Not even Mr. Snake.

Then, after a moment, Reva sniffled back her tears and looked away from the dragon, trying not to show how hurt she was in the end. “I guess I should’ve predicted it from the beginning. You obviously never wanted anything to do with us… why would you ever want to now?”

“The first rule of being a TRUE villain,” Safira told her, “is to NEVER trust anyone.”

With that, she, Professor Marmalade and Mr. Snake began to leave the room, with Mr. Snake smiling and using his tail to bump Professor Marmalade’s fist. “Go bad…”

“...or go home,” Professor Marmalade finished, but before he left, he peeked his head back into the room to speak to his assistant. “Cuddles! Finish them.”

The door immediately closed after that, and once they were finally gone, Cuddles pushed a lever down, lowering Mr. Wolf, Diane, the cubs and the four ponies present toward the floor, and a hatch underneath the opened to reveal tons of sharp, spinning blades, ready to slice and dice them to a bitter end.

This caused the group to scream and try and wiggle free, but at that moment, some green mist began come in through the nearby vents. “Poison gas!” Diane shrieked. “Don’t breathe it in!”

Izzy gasped deeply and held her breath with her friends, but Reva sniffed the air and looked at Mr. Wolf with wide eyes. “Wolf, do you recognize that?”

Mr. Wolf sniffed the air as well, slowly coming to the same realization. “Wait a second. That’s not poison gas.”

Suddenly, Cuddles began to retch from the smell and passed out, followed by the sound of a familiar voice. “Sorry!”

Sunny gasped in delight. “Could it really be…?”

Suddenly, the other cubs, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark, Ms. Tarantula, Allura, Twitch, Hitch and Zipp came out of the vents, everyone except Mr. Piranha gasping for breath. That was when Carmine brought out a perfume bottle that, with a simple spritz, caused the bad smell of the fart to go away. “Never leave home without Carmine’s Fart Desensitizer!”

“Oh, guys!” Mr. Wolf cried out in relief. “I can’t believe it’s you!”

“You were right, Wolfie!” Ms. Tarantula said as Mr. Shark’s fin began to wag. “We felt the wag, man!”

“And,” Oran added, “we felt the tingle!”

“Feels good, doesn’t it?” Izzy asked with a smile, just as Rogue began to chuckle nervously. “This is super moving, but can we do this later?”

“Feels like I got a rhythm section in my fin,” Mr. Shark said before beginning to beatbox. “Oh, yeah, baby!” Zari said as she began to dance in place. “I like the sound of this beat!”

“Hello?!” Zipp tried to get the others’ attention as she tried to keep her friends away from the blades. “Spinning blades over here!!”

“Oh, right!” Gretchen realized. “Allura, help Zipp keep the others away from the blades while we figure out how to shut them down!”

“Of course,” Allura nodded before flying up and helping Zipp pull the ropes away from the blades. At the same time, Ms. Tarantula pushed the lever up in order to get the floor hatch to close. “Sorry. I got it.”

The ropes were then lifted away from the hatch as it closed, causing the others to drop to the floor. “Guys!” Sunny exclaimed as she, the unicorns, Pipp and Mr. Wolf scrambled from their ropes to hug their friends. “Are we glad to see you!”

“Same here,” Hitch sighed in relief, a smile beginning to form. “We were so worried!”

Reva approached her cousins, still a bit surprised. “You… you guys came?”

“...someone told me once that family doesn’t quit on each other, even in the worst circumstances. Someone… I should really listen to more often,” Gretchen said slowly as she approached. “Reeves, I’m SO sorry about the things I said. I didn’t really believe them when I said them. I guess… we lost so much already, and I couldn’t bear to lose another member of the family.”

“It’s okay… no harm done, right?” Reva stuck out her paw to her cousin for her to shake, but instead… Gretchen hugged Reva around the neck tight, sniffling and sobbing to herself. “I’m so sorry, cuz… I love you more than anything.”

“...I love you too,” Reva said, trying to contain her own tears. “And I’m sorry too. I should’ve been honest with all of you about how I was feeling.”

“And we shouldn’t have been such jerks and walked away from you when you needed us,” Oran added as he, Zari and Carmine got closer. “We’ll never do it again, we promise.”

“...okay, okay…” Carmine sniffled back her tears as the cousins hugged. “My makeup is basically ruined, but surprisingly, I don’t care! This is WAY better than looking pretty!”

“I, uh… I hate to break up the joyous reunion, but… has anyone seen Snake?” Allura asked. “You’re right! When the others realized that they wanted to be good,” Zipp told her sister and friends, “Snake got really ticked off and stormed out. We haven’t been able to find him anywhere.”

“We know where he is,” Diane sighed heavily. “He’s working with Marmalade and Safira.”

“What?!” Zari asked, looking stunned. “Are you guys sure?”

“More sure than anything,” Reva answered solemnly before looking at her cousins. “And… you guys should know… it was Safira and her sisters who attacked the valley and killed our parents.”

“It’s true,” Rogue nodded. “She’s been using you five so she could get her strength back and swear the ultimate revenge on the Mythix Tigers for making her lose her sisters in the battle.”

“No no no no no no no no no!!” Carmine yelped, her eyes growing wide and teary. “That can’t be true!”

“As much as we wanna deny it, it’s true,” Misty said gently. “The whole story sounds completely plausible, and… well… I wouldn’t trust Safira if she said she had nothing to do with it.”

“...we’re so sorry,” Ms. Tarantula said to Oran as she climbed up on his back. “Yeah, chica,” Mr. Piranha comforted Zari as she rubbed up against him. “That little scaled lizard crossed the wrong tiger cubs.”

“She sure did, but… what can we do now?” Gretchen asked. “I’ll tell you what we’re going to do,” Mr. Wolf said confidently. “I think it’s time to huff and puff and blow this little piggy’s heist down!”

“Game over, guinea pig!” Pipp said confidently, and the group rushed over to the meteor, using Reva’s water magic to lift it off the mechanical arms so they could get it into the trunk of Mr. Wolf’s car.

It actually seemed like they were gonna pull this off!

And in doing so, clear their names and set things… some-what straight again.
