It's been a few years since Spike discovered himself in Chronicles, allowing him to experience many more things (and guys specifically) without risk of judgement. And even after growing his own pair of wings, Spike is still at his petite figure to contrast his more mature mindset. Of course, even after all his various exploits across Equestria, it was only a matter of time before Spike grew curious about prospects outside of the country... and outside reality in general.

And after discovering a source for Enchanted Comics in Canterlot, Spike didn't hesitate to snag himself a new 'Power Ponies' issue for another superhero adventure. However, this time before venturing between the pages, Spike decided to take a chance and make a few slight edits to make the comic more... adult-oriented.
