Author's Note
Hey so I know I said I was moving over to the dragon story but I've been having a alot of fun with this story so I decided to give yall a little mini chapter before I go back for real this time.
So even though it's short I hope you'll still be able to enjoy it.
See ya later!
You Do You, And I'll Do Me, And We Won't Do Eachother, Probably
1 Day Later
"I'm really glad you're joining us this time Tan, it hasn't been the same without you with us." Kudo said as we walked with our respective parents.
"Yeah, sorry for missing out so much." I said honestly before he waved me off.
"It's fine, that just means now we can hang out and make up for everything you missed out on!" He said enthusiastically as Bella shook her head at his energy.
It's the next day now and like I promised the others I had made sure to join them on their weekly trips out into the city to trade crystals for coins to get some food.
Unfortunately, we were starting to run low as my Mom and I had three crystals bar the one I had with me, Koda and his dad had 4, and Bella and her dad had 2.
"What were you doing when you weren't with us Tanner?" Bella asked curious.
"Oh nothing much, just hanging around waiting for you guys to come back." I somewhat lied as I technically was waiting for them to come back.
"That's boring, though I guess that's to be expected doing nothing for a long time." He said bluntly as we continued walking to what I assumed was the place they usually went to to get 'bits' as the currency in this world was called.
Walking through crowds was so much different now since after my little revelation or whatever It was, I could constantly see the magic circulating around in the air and through ponies as they all are so much brighter to look at now.
Though, whenever I look at our group I can barely see any magic coming from them.
I mean the magic in the air is still circulating through them but for some reason, compared to the ponies it's not enough for them since it seems their core isn't as big of a container as it is compared to a pony.
'Of course, another disadvantage we're born with it seems, though was it like that for me, or was it different because of who I was before?' I pondered to myself before shaking my head.
'Doesn't matter now either way since my core has definitely changed since then.' I concluded to myself as we had reached what looked to be some sort of pawn shop/gem store and entered inside.
Thankfully, this store didn't seem to have many ponies inside which meant less attention for us allowing us to make our way to the counter uninterrupted as Mom pulled out three crystals each that had different amounts of magic contained inside them before placing them down.
As the unicorn inspected them, Koda decided to go look around the store with Bella which of course meant their parents also had to come with them, meanwhile, I stayed near Mom since I had a gut feeling I needed to to stay for something.
Unfortunately, even though I have found out how to do magic I'm still not sure exactly how to get it out and actually make use of it.
Plus I haven't had much time to figure it out either, I mean I know I could just wait until I had more alone time, but come onnnn, it's MAGIC!
A completely foreign force of power that I, a diamond dog, can learn and make use of to the fullest, and because I was a human before I could probably think of plenty of ways to use it that the creatures of this universe wouldn't even begin to dream of.
Who wouldn't want to immediately figure out how to use it for themselves?
Though it's not completely for me, as cool as It is when I figure it out, imagine how useful it would be to bring back to our community.
The sooner I learn how to at least summon it the better, that way I can then use all my time to practice with it and improve it to the point where no one would be able to mess with me.
"Seven bits, five bits, and six bits." I finally heard the unicorn say as she put down the third crystal.
"Eighteen bits, are you serious!?" Mom asked upset but doing her best to contain herself as the Unicorn rolled her eyes.
"Yes, I'm serious." She said holding up a crystal that was surprisingly brimming with contained magic.
"You see this? This crystal barely has any magic in it, just like the other two, and just like the other crystals you brought in before." She explained in a tired tone as I looked on incredulously.
'What is she talking about that crystal is com-'

Oh, I see.
'You think your so fucking clever, taking advantage of us because we can't see magic like your kind can don't you, well fuck you too.' I thought angrily as this bitch pretty much just admitted that she had probably scammed our group before, and was probably doing it again since my mom and the others had no way to tell if she was lying or telling the truth.
But I could.
"Mom, how did you get the crystal to glow like that?" I asked innocently as Mom and the disgrace looked at me confused.
"It's glowing really bright, just like the other crystals you pulled out." I said as Mom looked even more confused while the creature started understanding what I was saying and began to look more worried.
"Kid, shut it, the adults are talking." The different set of species said sounding more worried now.
'What's wrong, scared?' I thought smugly while I just looked confused at her comment.
"Watch It, that is my son you're talking to." Mom said angrily as her fangs began to bare causing the unicorn to slightly shiver in fear at her.
"R-Right, sorry ma'am." The pony said slightly afraid as Mom took a second to calm herself down.
"Y-You know what, I can tell when I've made a mistake and seeing as how your son here was able to see it as well I can't help but do my best to correct It so how about I give you an extra twenty bits for troubles, that sound good to you?" The unicorn asked as Mom took a second to think it over before nodding.
A couple of seconds later we were walking out of the store happy and thirty-eight bits heavier as we made our way back to the library.
'Suck on that you stupid bitch.' I thought smugly.
To Be Young Again, Honestly This Rock's
"Tanner, time to go." A motherly voice said, as I grumbled turning away from the source of It.
"Don't wanna." I mumbled tiredly as I heard an exasperated huff behind me before it went quiet.
Thinking I had won, I smiled to myself and settled in for more sleep until I was suddenly hoisted up, causing me to flail in panic as I opened my eyes only to have my vision filled with a brown Labrador-like head, with one black spot surrounding it's left eye, as she looked at me in amusement before setting me back down on the ground.
"Now you're up." She said smugly ruffling the top of my head as I tried to playfully swat It away only for her to pull It away just In time.
"Glad to see you having fun." I said jokingly as she giggled In response.
"Always." She said smiling before It dropped Into a slight frown.
"Are you ready now?" She asked causing me to drop my smile as I looked at her more seriously.
"Yes, I'll be fine, even after when you're not there with me." I said as she shook her head amused.
"It's not your job to reassure me that you'll be fine while I'm gone." She said kneeling as she grabbed my hands with her larger ones before giving me a kiss on the forehead.
"Though I appreciate that you're trying to," She said causing us both to smile before she stood up and nodded to herself before offering her hand out allowing me to take It.
Holding on I started to get pulled by her as she started walking out of our 'home' with me In tow which was nothing more than a room and a doorway that had dirt carved out of It as we left.
'I guess It's finally time, 9 years though huh, seems like It was such a long time ago now,' I think to myself as I look up focusing on the back of my mother's head as I'm lost In thought.
You know It's funny, when I died and came here I thought that I would be miserable, kicking and screaming for me to return, but honestly as soon as I figured out where I was and where I wasn't anymore, I couldn't be happier.
Although the 'nurses' or the closest thing we have to one thought otherwise, I was crying tears of joy as soon as I ca-
Actually, you know what, on second thought how about I don't relieve that specific memory that I for some reason have perfect clarity of.
'Just thinking about It gives me the shivers,' I thought to myself involuntary shivering despite the fur all over me.
Anyways back to what I was saying, I couldn't help but be happy, why you ask?
Well because I no longer had to live In that shithole used call home, and besides, not only did I not have to live there anymore but guess what world this Is?
That's right My Little Pony, and what's In My Little Pony?
Exactly, Magic, Doesn't matter who or what you are because as long as there's a method, and you try hard enough, then you can make magic bend the knee for you and command It to your whims.
Not to mention while there are still conflicts from other groups or species altogether, It's nothing like how back 'home' was.
At least here If a fight broke out between species, If the show was anything to go by, then most problems could probably be solved with a talk, allowing said species to take the time to actually figure out what the problem was instead of just jumping to conclusions.
Besides as much as It pains me to admit It's not like I had much going on for me back 'home' either, not after Mom passed anyway, leaving me with a nonexistent father who was probably on the other side of the planet getting someone else pregnant and planning on leaving them too.
Other than that I had no friends, certainly no significant other and seeing as how everytime someone did, It usually only ended up with someone else getting hurt In the process.
Yeah no, I'll take my chances being alone for the rest of my life.
Plus like all jobs It wasn't fun to work at either, and everyone there made It less enjoyable to be there ranging from the lazy workers, to the annoying customers, to the irritating bosses, If I'm being honest I'm surprised at myself for not snapping sooner.
All just to barely pay for a house that Mom had left me In her will because I felt like It was the last thing I had left of her, and I couldn't help but want to keep It, no matter what.
'Huh, now that I think about It I wonder what happened to the house, haven't thought about that In a while.' I pondered to myself for a second until I decided It was better not to worry about it.
'Probably has been sold off to some other couple who was looking for a house like that.' I concluded to myself.
I won't lie, getting over Mom dying was hard, I mean of course It was, why wouldn't It be? The best woman In my life died.
But being able to just keep something that she used to own made the pain a little bit more bearable.
Realizing that after I was no longer there to protect It from being defiled while the robbers went through whatever they went through or have everything that made It hers stripped and broken down to make It seem more attractive for others to buy.
That, sucked for a good year, when I realized that after crying for joy I started actually crying to myself.
But, then, after constantly seeing my other mother trying so hard to care for me and constantly fuss over me whenever I didn't react how a newborn was supposed to It started to wear on me to the point that I realized that It wouldn't be fair If I kept rejecting to accept her as my new mom In an attempt to keep some sort of made up position that I've held my previous mother In.
So, I moved on, one night when I woke up my mom due to my final grieving of my precious previous mother, I did feel slightly guilty for waking her up and worrying her but at the same time, I'm glad I was able to move on.
Now I can live this life as free as I want with no regrets.

Wow rambled on a bit there, but either way, my point stands, even being born down here where there are not a lot of other Diamond Dogs who are doing their best to survive and live together Is still a lot better than surviving and not living, alone, like I used to.
When I was 6 was when I started noticing how dire things truly were down here.
We couldn't grow anything due to the lack of sun and water, and not only that but we couldn't properly wash ourselves unless we went out of the area with a Guard dog to bathe In some nearby river.
Then anytime someone got hurt mining, digging, or any other way, because of how limited our 'medical supplies and knowledge' were some diamond dogs had to go without getting cleaned or bandaged up If someone else's injury was worse, even leading to them getting sick because with the lack of proper care administered to them.
What's concerning about this is the fact that if the conclusion I've reached Is right then we can't bring to much attention to ourselves because we're hiding from someone that we used to serve which is why we can't bring to much attention to ourselves.
Right now that's not important though, what Is important though Is that today I'm getting my very own jacket and collar.
'Speaking of which mom's slowing down which means we are here,' I thought as my suspicions were proven correct by how she gently guided me to be placed In front of her as I was faced with an elderly-looking Spaniel who was overall white with brown splashes covering certain parts of her stomach while completely covering her eyes and ears.
Now interestingly enough when a female diamond dog gets a jacket they are required to close It when In public since apparently having It open to anyone besides your...mate, Is basically telling everyone that you are available to do whatever no matter what so, yeah, you get the point.
"Is this your son River?" The elder asked with a somewhat scratchy voice.
"Yes, Elder it's his-"
"9th Creation Day yes, an honor that one so young can reach that age when others have, not been as lucky." She finished solemnly ending the conversation In a somewhat saddened and slightly awkward mood.
"But we are not here to remind ourselves of an unavoidable past." She suddenly said directing her attention to me as she gestured to the three collars on probably the only table In this entire place.
"We are here to celebrate a future that will hopefully not only help our community flourish further but also help himself flourish into something better than he already Is," She finished as I walked up to the three choices presented to me while my mom walked out giving us privacy.
Now to other people this wouldn't be this important just choosing a collar and receiving a jacket but to diamond dogs, It's almost a sort of rite of passage for them.
Since when diamond dogs go through the 9th year of being born to those In the community you are now responsible enough to start helping out with whatever work Is needed to provide for our small community since there are like 40 diamond dogs altogether living In this small underground area.
Then, before you get your jacket and collar you have to specifically choose which collar you want to wear since different collars are paired with different jobs altogether.
Kinda like what that one episode about the diamond dogs hinted to when uh whatever his name was pointed out that he and his two lackeys hunted for gems.
Surprisingly, that wasn't just him talking out of his ass as that Is an actual job that comes with the collar assigned to It with the orange sapphire gem hanging from and all as the Elder went over which position each collar was assigned to.
There was also another collar that had a ruby-shaped gem hanging from It that apparently once you picked would be trained on how to dig and how to fight.
That way you could help out to dig when needed for the Gem Seekers but would ultimately be able to stand guard near the entrance of the tunnel leading out and In here while also being able to defend all the other diamond dogs who lie beyond the entrance.
Finally, there was the last one with an amethyst-colored gem hanging from the bottom.
"Ah, and last but not least while not many diamonds pick this position It's still one of importance," She said before sighing.
"Picking this one will allow you to travel to a place the ponies call Canterlot to learn more difficult things than just digging or protecting," She said as I unconsciously started reaching for It.
"Actually, I've been wondering, If we're In hiding then why are we trying to get one of us to Canterlot If we're trying to avoid attention?" I asked slightly pausing as I hoped for a concrete answer not made by barely heard sentences combined with my guesses.
"As much as diamond dogs want to stay hidden I think you can see for yourself why we've been trying to have one of our own reach towards the pony city so that we may learn their ways and use them to help our own." She explained as I absently nodded not really satisfied but still listening to her.
"Lately though most dogs would rather have the security of home rather than explore, though I can hardly blame them for doing so." She finished before looking up at me as I stared back absently reaching for the collar again.
"I will warn you though." She said raising her voice slightly causing me to freeze.
"Some dogs have chosen this option before but they had given up on the opportunity due to It being beyond what they were capable of or wanted to learn, If you feel like this sounds like you as well then I advise you to choose something easier." She finished as I paused thinking about It for a couple more seconds before grabbing the collar finalizing the decision.
"I want to be capable of changing things for the better, for us." I said as she gave me a smile In response.
"Then I hope you'll be able to fulfill your goals, and make It our reality," She said facing away before turning back around to hand me a black jacket as I quickly put It on as she grabbed the collar and attached It around my neck.
"Ready?" She asked.
"Ready as I'll ever be." Is what I said In response as I began to prepare myself for whatever would happen In the future as I would do my best to do something with my life this time.
Author's Note
Fine, I'll do It myself.
I was kinda inspired by the writer called Baroque I think? When he released his new story talking about how he just had an idea and decided to release so I thought to myself.
"Why don't I also do that?"
So here we are, I doubt many people will be interested In this but It'll still be fun to write from time to time.
Other than that comment If you liked or hated something about this I always appreciate either one as long as you comment.
See ya next time!

1 Day Later
'Today's the day.' I think to myself as I slowly get up rubbing my eyes and yawning.
"Well, I guess if anything I'm glad that your new position can get you up early." Mom said smiling as I began stretching while also cracking some bones.
"Well this Is pretty important, I don't want to mess up either Mom." I said rolling my eyes fondly before I noticed her smile had disappeared Into a worried frown.
"Mom? What's wrong?" I asked concerned as she sighed before looking over at me with a smile.
"Nothing you need to worry about Tany." Mom said trying to play It off as she used her nickname for me which only made me frown In response.
"Anyways, we should probably head out, don't want to keep the others waiting after all." She said offering me her hand as I sighed before I smiled back at her and grabbed her hand allowing her to lead me out of our 'room.'
As we walk out we pass by some other diamond dogs who have also woken up early seemingly going to train or dig if the gems on their collars are anything to go by.
What's more obvious is how many of them are covered In dirty bandages or clutching their stomachs In pain before I turn my head away just In time for us to turn a corner.
Unsurprisingly, most of the underground Is either made out of dirt, covered in dirt or had dirt dug out of it to make space for something.
Anything not made out of dirt was either close to breaking or had already been thrown into a pile since we had no way of reusing the materials for anything else.
'So much to improve, yet so little to work with.' I thought upset with how poor our living situation was down here.
As I continue to take in my surroundings I feel Mom suddenly stop causing me to turn my head as I come face-to-face with another Guard dog.
He looked over us for a few seconds before nodding and gesturing for us to follow him outside.
Before we do though I put my other hand up In front of my eyes so I don't get blinded like the first time I came up here until my eyes get used to the light enough for It not to blind me.
When I was allowed to see again we saw four other diamond dogs In a conversation with each other in front of the ricketiest carriage I've seen, with what only looked to have dirty rags as curtains, and only some of the roof and floor of It looked to be fixed.
'I guess It's to be expected, not like we have much to work with.' I concluded to myself before one of the younger ones noticed us causing him to smile and wave.
Seeing no harm in it I decided to respond with one of my own which seemed to satisfy him as his smile grew bigger and he turned back to talk with what I assumed to be his parent.
"Everydog here?" The Guard dog asked as we approached the others before everyone replied with a yes causing him to nod In satisfaction.
"Good." He said before grabbing a bag from the side of his hip as he handed It to my mother to hold.
"27 crystals, 9 each, use for trade, get money, you figure rest out." He explained as my mother nodded.
"Once we get to pony city Elder has a pony friend who will teach pups what Is needed, make sure not to draw much attention when you get inside pony city, dogs are welcome but not liked." The Guard dog explained as I mentally nodded.
'Dont got to tell me twice man, I'm staying far away from Celestia as long as I can until I know if she's a tyrant or not, not like I want the attention anyway, though It seems like It's gonna find me regardless If what the Guard dog said is anything to go by.' I lamented to myself as the Guard dog finished up.
"Once we start moving we'll take two or three days to reach, depending on how long breaks take, now get in, we leave now." He said causing all of us to climb in as he began attaching himself to the front.
"Hello! What's your name?" A hyperactive brown Golden Retriever-looking pup asked me as soon as I settled In the rickety carriage.
"Names Tanner, what's your two guys name?" I asked wanting to get to know them.
"Names Koda! Nice to meet you!" He said grabbing my hand and rapidly shaking It as both of our parents chuckled and shook their heads at his hyperactive display.
"What about you, what's your name?" I asked the quiet brown and black beagle-looking pup as she looked startled before going quiet again for a second.
"M-My name is Bella, it's nice to meet you two." She said softly while also looking down at the floor.
"You too." I said right as we all felt the carriage shift before we began to move.
"We're moving! Dad, can you feel It?" Koda asked as his father chuckled at his excitement.
"Yes Koda I can feel It, you don't have to point every little thing out to me." He said ruffling the top of his son's head causing him to giggle.
"I know, but I'm just so excited we're going somewhere that's not underground!" He said causing his father to sigh.
"Yep, we sure are." His father said not quite as enthused as his son seemed to be.
1 Day Later
Currently In my hand was one of the crystals that my mom had been giving to distribute between all four of us.
It took a lot of begging and promising but thankfully I was able to get my hands on one of these.
Now what I was banking on was that no matter what, everything In this world had some sort of magic in it, and if that's the case then all I have to do is figure out how to use it.
"Question is how do I get it to come out." I quietly said to myself.
"Watcha doing?" Koda asked as I lowered the Crystal to find him In my view looking at me curiously.
"Nothing important why?" I said deflecting his question, though he didn't seem to notice as he smiled that bright smile again.
"Well, I wanted to ask you guys why you picked the amethyst collars?" He asked using his arms as front legs to stand on as he sat down before pointing to himself.
"I picked It because I heard there was some other place other than what's underground." He said excitedly before looking slightly more serious.
"Also I heard that I could learn things that would be able to help the diamond dogs live better." He said shocking me as I was unprepared for his sudden shift before he shifted back into a somewhat excited look.
"Now what about you two?" He asked
"W-Well, it was kinda the same as you except that I wanted to prove my dad wrong about me not being able to learn anything important when I picked this collar." She said glancing over to her father who was in a conversation of his own with the other parents in the back.
"The only reason why I picked this position was because I wanted to try and change things for the better, not just stick to something that won't change anything." She said sounding slightly upset before she seemed to remember where she was and looked away embarrassed.
"Sorry." She said apologetic
"You don't need to say sorry, I think if anything all three of us seem to think the same way about wanting to change things." I said as they both nodded until Koda paused.
"What about you Tanner, why did you pick the collar?" He asked as Bella also looked curious which I responded with by just shrugging my shoulders.
"Pretty much the same reason as you guys, didn't like how poor everydogs seemed to be and when I heard I could go somewhere that would help us I decided to go and learn." I explained before the carriage suddenly stopped.
"Taking break now, Will let know when ready." We heard the Guard dog outside say before Koda started getting excited and made his way outside as his father shouted his name.
"Would you like to go outside?" Mom asked me as I nodded.
"Ok, just don't stray too far from me." She said as I nodded before hugging her.
"Love you." I said as she hugged me back.
"Love you too." She said as I let go and made my way outside to reveal that we seemed to have stopped In a small clearing off a bit to the side of the path I assume we were traveling on.
"River nearby, each dog makes stick and catches own fish." The Guard dog explained as the parents went to discuss what to do.
"Hey wanna play?" Koda asked us as I shook my head wanting to be alone.
"Sorry Koda, not right now, later though." I said trying to at least appease him.
"Oh, ok." He said sounding disappointed.
"I can play with you,If you want." Bella said which caused Koda to smile again as he grabbed her hand and dragged her away giving me some peace.
"Now back to you." I said raising the crystal in my hand as I sat down and continued to analyze It as best as I could.
A Couple Hours Later
"Hey Tanner, you ok?" Koda asked as I grumpily sharpened my stick.
"Fine." I said slightly wincing at how roughly I sounded since I wasn't really in the mood to talk as the others let me be looking concerned which caused me to sigh.
"Sorry, didn't mean to talk to you like that, just upset about something else." I explained as they nodded looking less concerned as we went back to poorly sharpening the sticks we were given.
I had already figured that I probably wouldn't be able to actually do anything with the crystal, but I was still hoping that I at least would at least be able to figure something out before we got to Canterlot.
'Sadly, It seems I'm going to have to wait until we get there, all those hours wasted solving nothing.' I thought frustrated as I exhaled harshly.
'Well it's not the end of the world, I just need more patience, hopefully, once we reach Canterlot Is when we'll be able to get things done.' I thought to myself as we continued sharpening our sticks.
2 Days Later
I blearily open my eyes as I begin to feel the slight rumble underneath me as well as my mother's warmth next to me while I try to decide whether I should move and wake up more or go back to sleep seeing as how it is night right now.
'A little alone time wouldn't hurt, lord knows how clingy mom's been with me this whole time, though It's not like I could blame her,' I reason with myself as I slowly make my way away from my mother's hand and arm as I gently place It away from me.
After making sure she hasn't woken up yet I slowly make my way over to the entrance of the carriage and slightly open It up to reveal the buff Guard dog walking forward.
"Excuse me how long until we reach Canterlot?" I asked causing him to jolt In surprise before calming down.
"Few hours, break, then a few more hours." He said as I nodded my head before going back inside.
I'm not going to lie I'm getting more and more restless as we continue to approach Canterlot for the first time.
'Not to mention how many uppity brats we're probably going to have to deal with once we get there.' I thought bitterly before shaking my head.
'Nevermind that, they don't matter, all that matters Is learning whatever I can to help our people however I can, and If we become more successful than the ponies in the end well, that'll just be a bonus.' I thought grinning to myself before I yawned.
'Anyone who gets between me and the people I care about will be dealt with one way or another, whether that be peacefully, or forcefully.' I thought to myself as I crawled back underneath my mother's paw again relishing in the warmth as I fell back asleep.
6 hours later
"We're here." I hear the Guard dog say as my mom and I look at each other before we grip each other's hands tighter before stepping out of the carriage for the last time.
As soon as we step out we're both stunned by how big and admittedly shiny Canterlot is as all of the gold seems to shine and shimmer when the sun's light Is reflected off of It.
"It's so pretty." Bella said with awe as she and Koda took In Canterlot for the first time.
"And cool!" He said excitedly but before he could express himself again the Guard dog cleared his throat getting the attention of everyone as they all focused.
"Remember, dogs are welcome but not liked in pony city, when you get inside head to the pony book exchange place and tell the pony in charge that Rosie sent you." He instructed us before nodding.
"Good luck, and stay safe." He said before attaching himself to the rickety carriage and left leaving us on the side of the open moat as ponies continued entering and leaving, thankfully not paying much mind to us for now.
"Stay close to me Tany." Mom said gripping my hand tighter as similar sentences were said to the others causing them to also cling to their parents.
"Make sure not to stray too far from the pack, it'll be harder to track you once we're inside." Mom said before we began making our way forward.
Unfortunately even before we reached the entrance I began to hear whispers all around us, and saw the ponies trying to discreetly eye us as they passed by causing Mom to bring me closer while we did our best to ignore them and push onward.
"Diamond do-"
"What are they doing he-"
"Don't belong he-"
"Poor thi-"
'If you mind your business and continue with your life then you won't need to worry about us.' I thought bitterly as we continued walking down the streets while my mother and the other adults tried their best to look for our destination.
"So loud." Bella whined softly as her father did his best to soothe her.
"What if we asked for help?" I offered as Mom looked down at me with conflicting emotions before looking at Koda's dad.
"Can you keep an eye on him?" She asked as he nodded before she let go of me and knelt.
"Behave while I'm gone." She said before kissing me on the forehead as she went to try and ask for help as Koda's dad took hold of my hand.
Every second she asked for help and failed, I got more and more frustrated every time a pony either brushed her off or ignored her completely.
'Harmony my ass, can't even give a different species the time of day because you feel that whatever your doing Is more important than helping out.' I thought bitterly before one pony finally seemed to stop for her and thankfully give her the directions needed.
'At least some ponies here aren't complete assholes.' I thought to myself as Mom made her way back to us.
"Ok I got directions, let's move before anything happens." She said offering her hand again as I readily took It before we continued making our way down different streets, finally stopping at a building with two unicorn statues on each side of the entrance, 4 pillars with two in front of it and two on the side of it.
"Is this the place?" Bella's Dad asked as mom nodded before we all started making our way upstairs.
Reaching our way up the stairs we stopped as everyone looked at the door In confusion causing me to also look at them confused.
"How do we get In?" Koda's father asked
"Maybe push It?" Bella suggested as mom did just that causing the door to open inwards.
"Thank you Bella." Mom said sincerely as Bella looked away in embarrassment at the compliment.
Entering inside, I immediately felt stupid for not deciphering what the Guard dog meant when he said 'pony book exchange place.'
'A library, he was talking about a library.' I thought resisting the urge to groan out loud for being stupid.
"How may I help you dearies?" We hear a voice say to the right of us as soon as we enter causing us to direct our attention to a purple-grayish elderly-looking earth pony mare, with a grayish-pink and white tail and mane looking at us with a smile.
"Umm, yes, we were sent by-"
"Rosie, I figured." She said shocking all of us.
"H-how did you know that?" Mom asked slightly worried.
"Cause I'm her old pony friend, and It wasn't hard to figure out seeing as how you six are probably the only diamond dogs in this entire city." She explained before coming from behind the counter to greet us.
"I'm surprised though, the last diamond dogs to come here was ten years ago before they, unfortunately, gave up, I honestly had thought she had given up on trying It again altogether." She said with a sad smile.
"Will you help us now?" I asked as she looked at me surprised before smiling.
"Of course I will little one, you don't have to worry about that." She said reassuringly as I nodded.
"Well, I guess if I'm going to prove my words we might as well get to work!" She said slightly enthusiastic.
"Now let's get started on a few things." She said as I started to feel myself get excited for the first time in years.
A First Time Familiar Feeling
1 Week Later
Slowly opening my eyes I start to wake up as I take a minute to take in my environment, noticing that I'm the only one here.
Not wanting to stay any longer I get up taking as I take a quick look around the room before I begin my stretches.
A week has passed since we got here and if I'm being honest this has probably been one of the best weeks in my entire two lives.
Ever since getting here me and the others have had the entire library to ourselves courtesy of Dusty Pages who has generously provided us with somewhere to sleep in the extra room that was behind the counter.
Apparently, she had an extra room installed just in case she ever thought she was too tired to make It back to her own home.
However, ever since she heard from her old friend, who happened to be the Elder, about her plan for diamond dogs to come here to learn anything the community could use to better improve our lives, she let any diamond dogs that volunteered to come to use it as long as they needed It ever since then.
This Is by far coolest old mare I've ever met in my life and that's without mentioning that the room itself was also pretty nice.
It wasn't anything fancy but to be honest, if there was anything I've learned these past nine years is that diamond dogs didn't need anything fancy, as long as it was comfortable enough and it worked well enough then they would take it, as much as I would prefer if they didn't have to work on scraps just to survive.
Though to be honest, It still wasn't that bad either, nothing much but a worn blue faux leather couch with a small table In the middle of the room, plus there were also a few mattresses surrounding It as well.
Finished with my stretches I reach for the crystal that Mom allowed me to have from my pocket before I bring it closer to look at.
Now since there were three of us here we agreed among ourselves to assign each other to a different subject we could read about so we would be able to take what we learned and share It with the other diamond dogs to help the community.
Bella decided to read about whatever she could about different materials, what they were used for, and what they were capable of to improve the quality of our tools back home.
Koda decided to try and read anything that could help diamond dogs learn how to make 'free food' (his words not mine) so we wouldn't have to be so reliant on mining crystals that we needed to sell to buy food.
Unfortunately, when we immediately went to get books on the subjects we picked we forgot to account for one thing, none of us knew how to read.
Well not exactly, for some reason I could read the words just fine as of was English, but the others, including the adults, didn't know how to read, since you know, they were never taught.
So instead of reading about what we wanted to read, we instead have been learning how to read in general for the past week.
I also had to join them since it was assumed I also didn't know how to read and it wasn't like I could just tell them 'Actually, I could read just fine, let me just grab the Poneish Dictionary and I can prove it to you!'
So until those two got to a level where they would be able to read in general, I was stuck having to learn how to read with them for the first time again.
Thankfully, Dusty Pages had also volunteered to teach us and any of the adults how to read if they wanted to.
Like I said coolest mare I've met so far, though, this hasn't been a total waste of time for me.
Since I'm stuck having to 'learn' how to read again I've been taking advantage of being left alone in times like these to secretly look around the library to find whatever I could about magic whenever Dusty wasn't looking, and if creatures that aren't unicorns could use magic, and if so, then what they did to do it.
So far I've been able to read a bit of two books called The Nature Of Magic and How To Access and Grow Closer To Magic though what I've found has left me with mixed feelings.
If I summarize what I read in The Nature Of Magic, it said that technically no matter what, anycreature can use magic since magic itself is in the air around us, invisible to the naked eye but still available for anycreature to use.
Also, magic naturally seeps into creatures since there's so much of it around and not many places for it to be dispensed.
Plus, because of the fact they seep into creatures so much, apparently according to the book, it slowly over time creates a sort of container for magic to be stored in said creature making it available for them to use, but you had to figure out how to access it first before you could.
Unfortunately, How To Access and Grow Closer To Magic wasn't very helpful in how to actually access said magic for other creatures, but they sure had plenty of information for unicorns to read about.
Now if you were a unicorn or of course alicorn, it's easy enough right, just use your horn to feel the magic contained inside of you plus the magic around you if needed and then simply grab it with your horn while thinking about the desired spell you wanted and then release it into the real world.
Though for other creatures we don't have natural magic horns that allow us to bend reality.
Now you think since they have a book here it might help right?
Wrong, the only helpful tip that I could find was for other creatures that weren't a unicorn they had to find some way to sense the magic contained inside your 'being' first before you could start to naturally sense the magic that was already circulating in the air.
No tips on how to do that, no methods that might help with the process, just that.
So yeah, you can see why I had mixed reviews based on what I was able to read since the situation I found myself In was the equivalent of not being able to access a cool skill in a game because you didn't meet the requirements.
Which is why I planned to make the most of my time alone today.
"Well, not like I can do anything else since Dusty Pages has been walking around the library more." I said to myself as I put the crystal back in my pocket before I sat back on the floor.
Taking in a deep breath I close my eyes as I do my best to calm myself and try to look for that core that's apparently inside my 'being.'

"Nothing, I guess that woul-"
I paused my sarcastic comment when as soon I opened my eyes back up I was met with pitch-black darkness surrounding me as the room I was previously in seemed to disappear out of thin air.
But what made me stop talking was the glowing colorful rainbowish Will-o-Wisp that was right in front of me slowly floating up and down almost like it was waiting for something or I guess in this case, someone.
Before I even realized it I began reaching for it almost as if I knew somewhere on an instinctual level that whatever this was I needed to go and hold it.
I don't know why, but, for some reason when I finally reached the wisp I had instinctively gently wrapped my hands around it like it was a baby chicken, as if it was the frailest thing in the world before I hugged it close to me.
Then suddenly I felt something, a feeling, It was such a confusing feeling too, almost as if it was mixed with pure joy and nostalgia.
The best I could describe it was that It was like meeting an old friend again after being apart for so long you just couldn't help but be happy you two were finally back together again.
Actually, yeah, that's pretty much how it felt right then and there, almost as if I had finally found a missing piece of me after all this time, and somehow knowing what that felt like right now, I began crying and laughing in joy now that I was reunited with it again.
Now nothing will ever be able to separate us
Almost as if the darkness responded to the mysterious voice the environment around us began to light up to the point where it became too bright for me as I closed my eyes and huddled over the wisp.

Opening my eyes again I realize that I'm back in the room that Dusty lent us as I take a minute to reorient myself after that existential experience.
Yet, I could tell that things already were way different than before....whatever just happened.
Now wherever I looked I could see magic all around me, almost as if it was wind constantly blowing by in a controlled direction forever staying on an everlasting journey until someone chose its destination.
I also felt lighter now, like there was some invisible weight that kept me stuck in place that was now lifted, allowing me to comfortably do what I wanted now instead of having to constantly deal with burdens placed on me.
.
.
.
Wow, that was, weirdly deep for me, though I can't say I was wrong.
Whatever happened it certainly made me feel more, alive now, for lack of a better word.
Of course, the most noticeable and in my opinion, the best thing to come out of this was if I focused hard enough I could actually, sort of sense something pulse with life almost in the center of my chest now.
Almost as if It was a completely different being sharing its life with me to use.
"Though the question remains if I can do magic now or not." I said to myself as I closed my eyes once again and focused on trying to reach the new core-like area inside of me.
This time though I could immediately feel something constantly circling in and out of my chest, sorta like it was constantly being filled to be sustained.
Quickly opening my eyes I grabbed the crystal from my jacket once more, immediately I could see how different the crystal was now as before when it was just a regular crystal, now it was almost glowing with the amount of magic it had contained inside of it.
"Okkkkkkk, so now what?" I asked myself as I tried figuring out what to do to get it out of the crystal into myself.
However before I could figure out what I needed to do I began to hear footsteps causing me to quickly put the gem away again, and not a second later Koda came rushing in ahead of everybody else as he pretty much tackled me to the floor like he does every time I sleep in and they come back.
"Hey Tan! Sleep good?" He asked excitedly while his tail wagged back and forth.
"I sure did Ko, sorry I missed out again." I said feeling slightly guilty.
"It's ok! But you gotta promise to join us next time, it's not the same without you, right Bell?" He asked turning to Bella who just nodded in response with a soft smile on her face.
"Alright, I promise, don't want to be stuck in here all the time anyway." I said as Koda started to look somewhat worried at me.
"What's wrong?" I asked worried.
"Ha-Have you been crying, Tanner?" He asked as I reached under my eyes to feel my fur somewhat damp.
"I, I don't remember, I had this dream where I met someone again after a long time, and it felt like I was so happy that I cried." I answered not exactly lying to him as his face scrunched up in thought before shaking his head.
"Well, hmm, I'm not exactly sure what to say about that, but you know what you're here with us now so let's not worry about that." He said getting off of me as we sat back up.
"Instead let me and Bella tell you what we did today!" He said excitedly as he began recalling the 'adventures' he went on today while I sat and listened to his stories and Bella's explanations about what happened.
