Watching over a dark sorceress wasn’t exactly in his parenting plans, but he doesn’t have much of a choice.

And then there’s the attention. At first, he assumed the lingering glances and friendly smiles were just curiosity—he is the only human, after all... well besides his daughter. But soon, he realizes it’s more than that. Single fathers, it turns out, are a rarity in Equestria. Mares strike up conversations, offer to foalsit, and some—Umbra included—are shockingly forward in their interest. Even those he’d never have imagined speaking to seem drawn to him, as if simply being a devoted dad makes him the most eligible bachelor in town.

Ethan isn’t looking for romance. His last one nearly broke him. But in a world where fathers rarely stick around, a man who does might just be the rarest thing of all.
