Zane is your average, single father in a society of ponies, a man that has one child to raise in the world they cannot get enough of. Until one cruel mare starts to show a little more than an abusive friendship, and turns into something more.
Zane has lived in Equestria for quite some time now, and has come to realization about couples:
There is barely any families in Equestria. There are barely any stallions that stay with the mare that gave birth to their foal. He can count the couples he know on his hand, and that says much about how bad it is for him.
Shining Armor and Cadance, Mr. and Mrs. Cake, Twilight's Parents; those are the couples he knows of that are married parents.
Though he isn't looking for any sort of relationship, he will see that being a single father is every mare's dream, even for the darkest of ponies.
