Chapter one: Devil in a Midnight Mass

They reached the church on a hill outside of ponyville with nothing interesting happening on the way there. Standing much taller than most trees the church’s clock tower/entrance was rather intimidating, with one last look back the two mares opened the large oak doors and headed inside.

The inside of the church was large with an arched ceiling. The air was rather stale and had an unusual scent to it. Above and behind the altar was a large cross with a statue of a man on it. There was only the priest; father Montgomery, and a couple humans; apparently not even humans were too fond of midnight mass. Seeing that there were other people (or rather ponies) here tonight the priest rushed to start the mass before they could get discouraged and leave.

The mass was long and unenlightening. So not awesome. Rainbow Dash thought to herself.

Your wasting your time, to think any thing could save you from me, nothing can save you from me. The nightmare voice in her head taunted.

Leave me alone. She thought back now rather frustrated.

I cannot leave you, you cannot get rid of me, you cannot hurt me, I am a race you cannot win, a enemy you cannot beat, a nightmare you cannot wake up from, a memory you cannot forget, for I am you. The cold menacing voice told her, causing her to snap.

“NO!” Rainbow Dash bellowed out a tear running down her cheek The mass was still ongoing, causing the humans to turn to her ,then each other with confused looks on their faces, and warranting a concerned look from the lavender unicorn mare next to her in the pew.

When the mass was over father Montgomery announced that he would be holding private confessions tonight for anyone interested. This perked Rainbow Dash’s interest.

The humans were leaving and the father went to the thing at the back of the church that looked kind of like two wooden outhouses stuck together and sat in one. “Let me guess, your going to confession, aren’t you” said Twilight in a all to I knew this would happen sort of way. To this Rainbow Dash was only able to nod on her way over.

She sat in the unoccupied “stall”, and noticed that there was a bit of a grate separating the two “stalls” while the rest was solid wood. “I knew you would come, I’d have to say after what I saw tonight, you got demons,” predicting her confusion he explained; “it’s a saying we humans have, just means something’s bothering you.”

Well more than just something heh heh heh. The menacing voice joked.

“So what has you bothered so much kid, just tell me.” father Montgomery said trying to sound comforting.

“Well when I try to sleep I have a terrible nightmare, a voice telling me to do horrible things, and during the day it’s in my head mocking and taunting me.” She confessed hoping the priest wouldn't send her to an insane asylum.

“Sin is lurking at the door, it’s desirer is you, you must master it.” The priest expertly quoted, then continued, “it could be nothing but if you want I could try an exorcism, to purge the darkness from you.” He offered.

Suddenly there was the sound of shattering wood. “There will be no such thing!” Somepony yelled.

“Brother what are–” There was a sound like somepony getting bucked.

“Bind her.” Came the unknown voice. “And lock up the old man, no one gets in our way.”

Suddenly the “stall” door was thrown open and yes standing in the door way was in fact Shining Armor, now wearing a black cloak with an upside down pentagram on the back. He reached out with his magic grabbing her. “What the hay are you doing? Help!” was the last thing she said before being chained to a metal cross, and carried to the roof.
