It was a happy day in Equestria. Twilight sparkle and her friends have defeated nightmare moon and reverted her back to princess Luna. They went back to Ponyville and were greeted by the cheering crowd.

"Why so glum, my faithful student? Princess Celestia asked "Are you not happy that your quest is completed and you can return to your studies in Canterlot?"

"That's just it" Twilight said "Just when I learned how wonderful it is to have friends, I have to leave them."

"Spike, take a note, please." Spike takes out a piece of paper and a quill.

"I, Princess Celestia, hereby decree that the unicorn Twilight Sparkle shall take on a new mission for Equestria. She must continue to study the magic of friendship. She must report to me her findings from her new home in Ponyville. "

Twilight walked down the streets of ponyville, even though she had already explored the place her friends wanted to help her familiarize her with the surroundings.

"Oh no twilight doesn't have time to see any of your tricks she needs her sleep" Rarity said

"I'm Rex and I would just like to welcome you back to Equestria"

Luna pondered what was happening, this stallion was being friendly to her but She really had no other friends other than her sister so she just went along with it

"I thank you for your service solider you have made me feel welcome"

The solder smiled which was a good sign but the smile faded and turned to a worried expression

"What? is something wrong?"

The guard raised his hove and pointed to the window Luna turned to what he was pointing at and put on the same expression he had. they both watched as sinister storm clouds began to swirl in the center of Equestria

Ponyville

Twilight and Spike looked up at the sky as dark and blue clouds swirled in a sinister like way, they began to thunder and lighting the sky as the storm went under way

"Strange I don't remember the pegusi issuing a thunder storm in the middle of the night"

"Maybe its just an accident?"

"Maybe....."

Then the thunder started to get louder, the lighting began to flash even more violent as the clouds swirled together in Equestrias center.

"Spike!"

"Yeah Twilight?"

"Something tells me that's no ordinary storm"

"How can you tell?"

Then the storm literally exploded at its center then when Twilight could see again their was a pure bolt of lighting anchoring the storm to the ground.

"I Don't know" she shouted over the strong winds "Call it a hunch"

The bolt of lighting began to steak itself across the ground leaving a burning skid mark in its wake, the bolt continued its path of burning until it entered the mountain forest west of ponyville, when the bolt was halfway up the forest mountain it stopped for 5 whole seconds it stayed their still alive and moving.

Then something even stranger happened.

The storm of which to bolt was still connected to began to glow the a ball or something else the was close enough to it made its was down the lighting like a pony ziplineing, its sped down to the ground when it reached its destination its exploded in a burst of light, then another one came out of the storm followed by another and another until the storm was practically spitting out electrical spheres, for 10 seconds it did that before stopping then the bolt disappeared, but the storm remained.

Everything was quiet for ten seconds before Spike broke the silence.

"Is it over?"

Twilight was about to answer but was interrupted by the sound of more lighting,then this time another bolt came out of the storm like a snake it looked for its target then its also anchored itself the another mountain, The one which held Canterlot city on its side.

Canterlot

The lighting bolt just kept pounding on the mountain that held the city in place Celestia knew if this kept going on the whole city might crumble every millisecond another surge of energy in the form of a sphere would come through the mouth of the storm and pass into the lighting bolt traveling down to the mountain, like a snake eating its prey.

10 seconds later

How many times had this happened? 20,30? she lost track, then without warning the surges just stopped. Celestia was about to take a breather when the sky lit up again only this time it was much different then the last two.

The clouds began to change color from dark black to dark purple the clouds began to compress as all the purple was drawn together forming a dark swirling funnel at the center. Then..... the lighting bolt came out.

This one was different from the others, it was purplish black instead of white, form a moment it did nothing then..... it soared north...far north pass cloudsdale all the way to the Crystal mountains until finally it was seen no more. For 2 seconds their was no sound then their was a faint purple blast followed by a faint boom.

Everypony waited for forty whole minutes this time, all eyes where on the sky as the clouds began to disperse, then all that was left was the stary night, nothing more.

The next day

Luna and Celestia where standing at the spot where the lighting bolt struck, after some digging her scientist confirmed it was nothing more than a normal scorch mark.

"How can it be just a scorch mark?"

"That's all their is your highness it was a lighting bolt what did you expect, hole in the ground?"

The princess thought for a moment then said "Very well you are dismissed"

The guard left leaving Celestia alone with Luna.

"Do you think this has something to do with my return?"

"No why would you think that?"
