Chapter 5- Gravity of the Situation

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Location: Universal stream Gravitus 612.15
Gravity Falls, Oregon

A large, boxy gray van rattled over a dirt mountain road at top speed. Close behind it was an equally as fast pack of what appeared to be massive bipedal wolves.

"Faster! They're gaining on us!" Dipper exclaimed from the back seat of the van. Bedis him, his twin sister Mabel was also glancing back at the wolf-men.

"I'm going as fast as I can!" Robbie exclaimed from the driver's seat.

"I told you it was a bad idea to antagonize them!" Wendy exclaimed from the passenger seat.

"I thought they were just hobos!" Robbie retorted. "I didn't know they would turn into giant wolf-men!"

"I tried to warn you," Dipper cut in, "But NOOOOO, I'm just a kid who knows nothing about the world and-"

"Alright, alright, I get it!" Robbie cut him off. "More to the point, why are they still chasing us?!"

Dipper whipped out the strange 'guidebook' he had found on his first day in Gravity Falls and flipped to the page about Werewolves. "It says here that Werewolves won't give up a chase until they lose the scent of their prey, or they find something to eat."

"So, we throw one of you out as an offering!" Robbie concluded. "Problem solved!"

"ROBBIE!" Wendy exclaimed angrily.

"Sorry! I'm panicking here!" The teenager replied as he swerved around a large rock in the road.

"There's got to be SOMETHING here we can give them," Dipper said, scratching his chin. "Hey, does anyone else smell raw meat?"

Wendy, Robbie, Dipper and Mabel began sniffing the air. Sure enough, a strange scent was lingering.

"Oh, I know! It's just the raw steak I brought along!" Mabel said, pulling an uncooked T-Bone steak from her backpack.

"Mabel, why on Earth did you bring a steak on a wolf hunt?!" her brother exclaimed.

"I wanted to feed the baby wolves!" Mabel replied matter-of-factly.

Dipper responded by lunging at her and grabbing the meat.

"Hey! Get your own puppy-food!" the sweater-wearing girl exclaimed as the steak was forced from her hands.

Acting fast, Dipper rolled down his window and chucked the thick slab of meat onto the road.

The pack of Werewolves ceased their chase to gather around the hunk of meat and began fighting for it.

"Whew," Dipper said as he slumped back into his seat. "THAT was close."

"Remind me to never dare you to prove the reality of anything in that stupid book again," Robbie said to Dipper.

"Hey, I'm not the one who thought it would be funny to make fun of people's clothes!" Dipper retorted.

"They were literally dressed in rags!" Robbie shouted. "And they smelled like week-old sandwiches!"

"Robbie, watch where you're driving!" Wendy screamed.

The teenager looked back to the road- only to see it wasn't there. "Where'd the road go?"

"You drove off of it when you were distracted by Dipper," Wendy explained

"Well, we can't turn back. The werewolves might be waiting for us," Dipper pointed out.

"For once I agree with you, kid," Robbie said before he noticed something in the distance. "Hey, can anyone see what that sign up ahead says?"

Mable squinted. "I think is says 'Danger Cliff.' Why would someone name a Cliff 'Danger'? I mean, that's completely-"

The van suddenly roared past the sign, through a grove of bushes... and straight over the cliff. Its four occupants screamed as they plunged over the several hundred foot drop.

"Caw-caw! Caw-caw!" Mable cried, cupping her hands over her mouth to increase the volume of her voice.

"Mable, this is no time for bird calls!" Dipper screamed.

"I'm trying to call that ten-foot eagle I saw the other day!" Mable explained.

Before Dipper could reply, a blue sphere appeared below them. Dipper, Robbie and Wendy covered their eyes, but Mable just stared into the light. "Ooooh, pretty!"

The van suddenly vanished, and the light dissapeared.

**********

High above Canterlot, one of the inter-dimensional portals slowly swirled in the sky.
A gray box suddenly fell out of the wormhole. Inside it, four humans resumed their screaming.

"What the heck happened?!" Robbie shouted. "It was night when we left, but now it's, like, high noon!"

"Ooooh, what's that puffy thing up ahead?" Mable inquired, enjoying the experience way more than she should have been.

The van suddenly made contact with what appeared to be a floating cotton ball. It plunged straight through, but seemed to slow down their fall slightly.

"That's weird," Dipper said as they fell through several more white puffs, each one seeming to slow their fall slightly more. "They look like clouds, but clouds are just water vapor!" They shouldn't be able to-"

The van suddenly broke through another cloud, revealing a large body of water alarmingly close to them. The four humans again resumed screaming as the van splashed down in the water.

For a moment, nothing happened. Then, one by one, the four humans' head popped out of the water, gasping for sweet air.
"Where are we?" Robbie inquired.

"And what was that light?" Wendy added.

"I think it was some kind of portal," Dipper said as he returned his cap to his head, as it had fallen off when he swam out of the van. "It must have taken us to some other part of the world."

"Like where?" Robbie repeated. "New Mexico or something?"

"I kinda doubt that," Dipper deadpanned. "But it'll be easier to tell from dry ground."

The others nodded in agreement before swimming for the nearest land mass.

"Woah, check it out!" Mable said as she climbed onto the dry ground.

The others looked around in astonishment. They were surrounded by a massive garden filled with more types of flowers than any of them knew existed. They were all planted in neat rows along the bases of several massive marble statues. Beyond the flower patch was what seemed to be a gigantic hedge maze, and behind that was an utterly massive white castle adorned with purple and gold trim. A bustling city was visible behind it.
"Wow," Dipper said. "How did we miss all that? I mean, we weren’t that far from the shoreline, so we should’ve been able to see something as-”

“HALT!” a deep voice shouted.

The four humans whirled around to see a strange sight. A few yards away were what appeared to be several white horses dressed in golden armor. Their eyes were much larger than that of any normal horse, and seemed capable of achieving facial expressions that only humans should be capable of.

“What in the heck is going on?” Dipper asked.

“Are we in some kind of creepy fan convention?” Wendy wondered.

“Ohmigosh, PONIES!” Mable squealed.

“Silence!” one of the horses ordered. This one had a noticeable horn on its head (a unicorn?), as well as blue hair barely visible under his helmet. “You are under arrest for trespassing on royal grounds, and quite frankly, being unknown species."

"Unknown species?" Dipper repeated.

"The heck is that supposed to that mean?" Robbie whispered.

"It sounds like these horse things have never seen humans before," Dipper explained as they were lead to the castle by what they guessed were the guards.

“Well the heck with that! I’m not going to jail for being a human!” Robbie exclaimed, grabbing Wendy’s hand. “C’mon, Wendy! We’re making a break for it!” He shouted before darting in the opposite direction of the horse guards.

“Robbie, don’t!” Dipper exclaimed, to no avail.

“Get them!” the blue-haired guard horse ordered. In response, two normal guards ran off after the humans. The rest of them shot glares at the two remaining humans.

Dipper held up his hands defensively. “Don’t worry, we won’t give you any trouble.”

“Good,” the lead guard replied. “Right this way, then.” The guards then surrounded the twins, leading them to the nearby castle.

Realizing something, Dipper spoke up. "Um, mister guard horse!"

"Quiet!" The horse barked. "You have the right to remain silent!"

"But this is REALLY important," the human insisted.

After a moment of consideration, the horse conceded. "What is it?"

"The vehicle we came in is still in that pond," Dipper explained. "I don't know how advanced your technology is here, but it runs on a substance called gasoline. If that leaks out into the water, it could be very hazardous to any aquatic forms of life in there."

The guard thought for another moment before turning to another guard. "Retrieve the vehicle from the pond, but keep it under heavy watch. We can't let them get to it and escape."

"Don't worry about that," Mable piped up. "I'm no car expert, but with all that water in the engine, it's gonna take a miracle to get that hunk of junk thing running again," she explained. “Besides, why would anyone want to leave this place?! THERE ARE TALKING PONIES HERE!” She exclaimed, bursting with excitement.

“These have to be the most cheerful prisoners I’ve ever arrested,” one of the guards mumbled, earning a nod in agreement from another.

The guards lead Dipper and Mable into the castle. Thee twins were awestruck at the sight of the interior. The roof was at least five stories high, with richly-decorated pillars holding the ceiling up. Paintings of ponies lined the halls, along with stained-glass windows depicting what Dipper figured to be legendary figures from the ponies’ past.
Several other guard ponies, and what appeared to be more normal pony citizens, were also present in the halls, giving the two humans odd looks as they passed. One large white unicorn with expertly combed blond hair gave them a particularly rude look of disgust.

The guards lead them through a set of massive gold double doors and into another equally as a massive room. The sides of the room were lined with more stained-glass windows, these ones much larger than the other ones. Upon close inspection, Dipper noticed that some of the figures- a group of the same six small horses- appeared in several of these windows.

The sound of his sister gasping drew Dipper’s attention to the front of the room.

His jaw dropped.

Sitting on a large, elevated throne at the end of the room was a white pony, easily twice as tall as the guards escorting them. Her mane and tail seemed to blow in a non-existent wind as a cloud of blue, pink and green sparkles.

The guard ponies bowed before the lead one spoke. “Princess Celestia, we found these two strange creatures in the gardens. There were two more taller ones as well, but they made an attempt to escape, and my troops are still in pursuit.”

The ‘princess’ stood up from her throne and wordlessly walked over to the group. Dipper and Mabel looked up in shock and mild terror as she gazed down at them, studying them carefully.

Finally, she sighed. “Shining Armor, I DO wish you would not make such a big deal of these things.”

The lead guard seemed surprised by her answer. “W-what do you mean, your Highness?”

Celestia turned her neck to face the guard. “These two are clearly small children, and you have done well to terrify them,” she explained, noting how the two humans were shaking in fear. “They are likely not here out of choice, and should be treated more delicately than this.”

“Forgive me, Princess,” Shining Armor started, “But between the massive blue energies in the sky, and the exploding fireball that rained down on the mountain, we have been a bit on edge.”

“Blue energies?” Dipper repeated, recalling the blue portal they had fallen through.

Celestia perked up at this. “They can talk?”

Shining Armor nodded. “They seem to be intelligent creatures.”

“All the more reason to treat them gently,” Celestia said, causing the head guard to mentally kick himself for walking into that one.

“You are dismissed,” the Princess suddenly said to the guards, who reluctantly filed through the door. “That means you, too, Shining Armor. This meeting is not to be disturbed.”

The blue-haired stallion opened his mouth to protest, but thought the better of it and instead turned around and slowly trotted out the door.

Once they had left, Celestia sat down on the floor in order to bring herself at eye level with the two children in front of her. “Now then, young ones, what are your names?”

“I’m Dipper, and this is my twin sister, Mable,” Dipper explained, having to introduce her sister, as she seemed to be in some sort of trance.

“And where do you come from?” Celestia asked softly.

“We were staying with our great-uncle Stan in Gravity Falls, Oregon, on Earth,” Dipper explained, adding the name of the planet as an afterthought. “We were riding in a vehicle with Robbie and Wendy- the two others that ‘Shining Armor’ mentioned- when we fell off a cliff and through a large, blue light.”

Celestia nodded.

“You’re so pretty,” Mable suddenly spoke up, her eyes dilated and glazed over like a kitten’s.

Celestia chuckled at this. “Thank you.”

“What is your hair made of? And why are you a Princess and not a Queen? And-” Mable’s upcoming onslaught of questions was cut off by Dipper clamping a hand over her mouth.

“Mable, I think we need to focus on how, why, and where we are, before you exchange fashion tips,” Dipper pointed out.

“It’s quite alright,” Celestia replied, referring to Mable’s questions. “But I agree that we should first get to the bottom of things. There have been several reports of these blue energies around this part of Equestria-”

“EQUESTRIA?!” Mable suddenly exclaimed, before doubling over in laughter at the ‘punny’ name. “I get it! Because ponies equines! OW!” she exclaimed after being lightly punched in the gut by Dipper.

“Please, continue,” Dipper requested, glaring at his twin sister in an attempt tp keep her quiet as the Princess spoke..

Holding back more chuckles, Celestia continued. “According to my student, Twilight Sparkle, there have been several cases of aliens falling through these portals and into our world.”

Mable’s eyes widened. “More aliens? What are you going to do with them?”

“Don't worry,” the Princess continued. “She is with an expert on inter-universal travel who should be able to help us set things straight.”

The humans nodded in understanding before Dipper spoke up. “And what about Robbie and Wendy?”

Celestia sighed. “I have no doubt that Shining Armor’s guards will capture them, with some force. However, while you two have committed no crimes other than appearing in the castle ground outside of your own will, they will be charged with resisting arrest and likely imprisoned.”

“Can't you just get them out?” Dipper wondered. “I mean, you ARE the Princess.”

“Our system of law is... complicated,” Celestia explained. “While I can grant them a full pardon, it will still take some time for the paperwork to be sorted out, especially given their... UNIQUE status as aliens.”

**********

“C’mon Wendy, we can make it!” Robbie exclaimed as he lead her through the canterlot Garden hedge maze.

“I dunno, Robbie,” she replied. “I think if we just explained what happened, we’ll be fine.”

“Cops don't work like that,” Robbie said. “I would know.”

“And HOW exactly would you know?”

Robbie’s eyes widened as his mind raced. “I, uh, watch a lot of cop stuff on TV,” he hastily explained. “SSSH, I think I heard something...”

A bolt of energy suddenly struck Roobie in the midsection, wrapping around his torso and legs like a rope. Unable to move, he fell to the ground.

“Freeze!” a voice said as several horse-guards rounded a corner.

“Go, Wendy!” Robbie shouted. “Save yourself! But come back for me,” he said, muttering the last sentence under his breath.

However, Wendy instead put her hands up. “It’s alright, we surrender. I’ll go along quietly.”

“Well, there goes our chance at escape,” Robbie muttered as the horses hauled them, away, quite literally in his case.

**********

“OK, this may be a bit of a challenge,” Twilight said.

“Yah think?” Legatron replied.

They ever-growing group of ponies and aliens had yet to enter Canterlot, out of fear that the sight of a large metal vehicle filled with aliens might not be the best thing to drive through a highly-populated and highly-panicked city, even with a royal guard escort.

“If only we had disguises of some sort,” Buzz Lightyear said. “We could make Optimus look like a large stagecoach, and the rest of us could hide inside.”

“Inside what?” Dan pointed out. “His cab’s only big enough to fit two. Four if we give up personal space. Maybe even six if we give up breathing.”

“Yeah, not so big on that,” Mira said.

“I think Buzz is onto something,” Legatron said. “With the ponies’ magical abilities, we could easily whip up a makeshift frame for Prime’s firetruck mode.”

“I’d be OK with that,” Optimus said.

“And I can turn myself into a pony,” Legatron said, demonstrating this by converting into a green pegasus.

Seeing this, Dan burst out laughing, but stopped when Mira smacked him on the head.

“That still leaves the Space Rangers and Dan,” Twilight pointed out.

Legatron brought a hoof to his chin in thought... causing him to lose his balance and fall on his face. Dan began to resume laughing, but stopped short after receiving a warning glare from Mira.

Swiftly, Legatron picked himself back up and turned to Twilight. “I doubt you would be able to morph them into ponies...”

The lavender unicorn shook her head, while Dan, Buzz, Mira, XR and Booster displayed varying reactions from curiosity to shock to horror.
Legatron suddenly perked up. “Dan could easily ride in Optimus’ cab with one of the Space Rangers. But that still leaves three of them...”

One of the guards walked up to the group. “In that case, I believe I may have a solution.”

**********

A very large, shabby stagecoach made its way through the streets of Canterlot. Despite the fact that the city was on lockdown, several ponies still roamed the streets, though the crowd was considerably less than what it would normally be.

The ponies that were present, however, looked at the stagecoach with curiosity. It was a miserable wreck being pulled by several royal guards, along with another, smaller covered wagon. Also trotting alongside it was a group of seven ponies and a small purple dragon. Some of the Canterlot ponies recognized these travellers as the bearers of the Elements of Harmony, and the dragon was the one who had saved the Crystal Empire. Who the slightly clumsy green pegasus was, none of them could say.

As it was pulled along the road, the smaller of the carriages jostled. However, this was not because of the road. Rather, it was the result of its contents... or, rather, passengers.

“OW! XR, get your tracks out of my face!” Mira whispered harshly.

“Get your FACE out of my TRACKS!” XR retorted.

“How about you BOTH get your knees out of my back?” Booster whined.

“My legs are five inches tall!” XR replied. “I barely even HAVE knees!”

“Then it must be your shoulder spikes,” Booster concluded.

“Quiet,” one of the guards hushed back at them, earning a curious look from a citizen.

After what seemed like an eternity of bumpy travel, they reached the castle grounds and passed through the massive gates to the outside wall. Once in the relative privacy of the inner courtyard, they shed their disguises, Optimus shaking the chucks of rotting wood off of his form while the three Space rangers tumbled out of the wagon.

“AW, sweet air!” XR exclaimed, hugging the dirt.

“XR, you don’t even breathe,” Mira pointed out.

“Yeah, well, when you spend that much time in an enclosed space with Booster here, even robots become sensitive to his smell.”

“HEY!” Booster cried out.

“Guys, get it together,” Legatron ordered. “We need to hurry up and meet with Celestia.”

“No can do,” one of the guards said, approaching from the castle.

“What?!” Twilight exclaimed. “Why not?!”

“The Princess is in a VERY important meeting with two small aliens,” the guard explained, “And she has requested that she not be disturbed.”

“Great, more for me to fix,” Legatron mumbled after hearing the guard mention the ‘aliens’.

Suddenly, a brilliant flash of light appeared, temporarily blinding anyone and anypony who was unfortunate enough to be looking at it. When their vision cleared, they saw the solar goddess in front of them. At her hooves were two very small and very confused humans.

“That was AWESOME!” Mable exclaimed, pumping a fist in the air.

“Ugh, I think I’m going to be teleport-sick,” Diper said, clutching his stomach.

“Princess!” Twilight exclaimed, running up to her mentor.

“Twilight Sparkle, my student; you made it!” Celestia greeted. “And so did your friends, it seems.”

The purple unicorn chuckled. “Yeah, we picked up a few along the way.”

“It seems we weren’t the only ones,” Buzz said, motioning towards the small human twins that were with Celestia.

“OK, introductions!” Legatron said. “Tiny humans, I’m Legatron, the guys in green spacesuits are Buzz Lightyear, Booster, Mira, and XR, the big bot is Optimus Prime, the annoying guy is Dan, the ponies are Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie, and the tiny dragon is Spike,” he rattled off, pointing to each member of the ever-growing group as he named them.

After taking a moment to let the rapid introductions settle in, Dipper spoke up. “I’m Dipper Pines, and this is my twin sister-”

“I’m Mable!” the giddy girl interrupted suddenly.

“So, what is your plan for resolving this situation?” Celestia asked Legatron, eager to get on with correcting the ever-growing problem.

The green mech fell quiet before slowly answering. “I have absolutely no idea whatsoever.”

Silence overcame the entire assembly.

Optimus suddenly looked skyward. “Does anyone else hear that?”

The various beings glanced around, slowly becoming aware of a strange, steady rumbling.

“Kinda sounds like a rocket,” Booster pointed out.

A massive roar suddenly tore through the sky as a massive metal dragon emerged from the clouds, closely followed by a boxy tan robot, a sleek jet that resembled a SR-71 Blackbird with blue detailing, and a white and black drone jet.

The seemingly bio-mechanical dragon landed hard in front of the group before emitting a mechanical shriek, splitting apart, and re-forming into a robot that towered over even the Powermaster-upgraded Optimus Prime.

The two jets followed this example, finding their places on opposite sides of the group and changing into robots that seemed to have a feminine build.

Finally, the tan robot touched down behind the group, sneering and snapping the brown claw on the end of his right arm.

“Who are these guys?!” Twilight asked Legatron in a hushed whisper.

Legatron replied with a question. “Remember Shiftech?”

Twilight nodded. “He was one of the robots who attacked this universe the first time. Why?”

“Because he’s been building a squad of elite villains from all over the multiverse,” Legatron replied, “And you’re looking at it.”

“Ah, Celestia. So NICE to see you again,” the black and blue feme sarcastically spat.

“Nightmare Moon?” Celestia gasped, recognizing the slightly modified voice of the twisted version of her sister.

“In the flesh,” Nightmare hissed. “Or rather, armor plating.”

“We have orders from our boss to terminate you,” the bio-mechanical dragon-bot boomed, wielding a staff as long as Optimus was tall.

“HA! We can take you on!” Dan shouted over-confidentiality. “Right guys?!”

The only response he received from his allies was from Legatron.

“We’re dead.”
