Crossover- and Over and Over...
Chapter 6- Final Showdown
Previous ChapterNext ChapterShiftech carefully studied the readouts that were being displayed on the screen in front of him. The problem was just as obvious as it had been for the last few hours a: the portal was connected to another point in space, which was likely another universe altogether. However, he had made little to no progress on how to STOP the portal in a secure way that didn’t have more than a fifty percent chance of obliterating himself.
“I might just have to take that chance,” he decided, reaching for the panel that concealed the blue shard that was powering the device.
An alarm suddenly blared on the machine. At first he ignored it, thinking it was just warning him not to do what he was about to do. However, the sight of another portal opening on the far side of the mountain corrected this oversight.
“No- no, no, NO!” he shouted as the alarm grew louder. “Damnit, Noizemaze!”
“You called?” a sinister voice replied, heralding the arrival of a strange looking, black, gray and orange alien jet. Behind it were three equally strange looking crafts; one purple with two large orange cannons, one a lighter purple, and one white and blue.
Simultaneously, the four vehicle shifted into robots of varying heights and builds.
“Now you’ve done it, Noizemaze!” Shiftech shouted at the black and gold robot while pointing to the portal device controls, which were still blaring a warning of some kind. “Your portal has further upset the balance of this universe, causing-”
“I don’t CARE about this slagging universe!” Noizemaze boomed from behind his orange faceplate. “What I care about is why I was not informed that you were doing a universe- destroying science project!”
“It wasn’t supposed to destroy universes,” Shiftech explained.
“What? But it’s practically tearing this universe and a few others apart!”
“No thanks to you,” the bulky robot mumbled. “”It’s supposed to create a more efficient way to traverse the Multiverse. However, it seems to have opened a portal to an unknown universe that isn’t reacting well with the device.”
“So, you’re saying whatever is on the other end of this portal is causing all of this?” Noizemaze asked, stroking his chin thoughtfully.
“Yes,” Shiftech said slowly, not liking Noizemaze’s tone at all.
“Then perhaps we should take a look,” the black and gold mech concluded as he engaged his rocket-pack, flying upwards towards the portal.
“NO!” Shiftech screamed, flying up in Noizemaze’s path. “You can’t! Going through the portal could irreversibly destabilize the-”
“Don’t care!” Noisemaze interrupted. “Heralds, get him out of here!”
Before Shiftech could respond, two of the other robots had flown up to him and grabbed him by the arms. “Scourge! Cyclonus! Don’t do it! He’d going to get us all killed- permanently!”
“Oh, don’t you get it?!” Noizemaze shouted. “I don’t care if this universe and everything in it- including us- goes to the Pit! One of the Keepers Of The Allspark is here, and if he’s destroyed, their little prophecy about all of them banding together and destroying our master Unicron never comes to pass!” He turned to the last robot. “Galvatron, get rid of him!”
Nodding, Galvatron took to the skies and hovered in front of the restrained Shiftech, pointing both of his orange fusion cannons at him.
“NO! You’re making a huge mistake!” Shiftech insisted as Galvatron’s cannons charged in front of him.
But it was too late. Galvatron’s cannons both fired, sending Shiftech flying into the distance.
“Good,” Noizemaze muttered. “Now, let’s see what lies on the other side of this doorway, shall we?”
**********
"Well, this figures," Legatron muttered so only he and his allies could hear. "An inter-universal meeting set up by a group of inter-universal villains. It's like we're in some kind of fanfiction made by an insane fanboy..."
“So, how shall I- er, WE go about destroying you?” Nightmare Moon taunted.
Celestia glared up at the female robot. “You’ll never be able to defeat us! The powers of good will prevail!”
“Yeah!” Twilight Sparkle chimed in. “The magic of Friendship will overcome all evil!”
The villains stood still, staring blankly at Twilight.
“Seriously?” Dieseltron questioned, cocking a metal eyebrow.
“Yeah, I doubt we’d get far by hugging them,” Buzz Lightyear agreed.
“More to the point, we were about to decide how to obliterate you,” Nightmare continued. “Perhaps we wait until your sister brings her night, then have GLaDOS portal you to the moon?”
GLaDOS raised her right arm, Cybertronian-sized Portal Gun whirring with energy. “That could be arranged.”
“Luna would never raise the night if she knew of your nefarious plan!” Celestia shouted before smirking. “Besides, I doubt you have the capacity to kill us directly, anyway.”
The solar princess had to leap aside to dodge an explosive dark energy blast.
“Not so,” Nightmare informed her, energy still collected around her hand. “I could not kill you directly before because I was still linked to Luna. Her miserable consciousness, though repressed, managed to ‘limit’ me in my evil.” She began gathering more energy around her in the form of dark blue clouds to demonstrate her power. “Now, such restrictions do not apply!”
“You DARE to still use my magic?!” a magically-enhanced voice boomed. The source soon made herself known as Princess Luna swooped down from a castle balcony.
“Ah, the Princess of the night!” Nightmare Moon taunted. “Perfect timing! Now, if you’d be so kind as to bring on that wich you are named for...”
“Nay, foul creature!” Luna retorted. “We will not raise the night, for we have heard of your evil plan to eviscerate our friends! Not to mention that the time is only four in the afternoon.”
“Very well,” Nightmare chuckled. “Then I shall have to bring on the night myself!”
“Wait, you’re actually going through with the ‘portal them to the moon’ thing?” Makuta Teridax inquired.
Ignoring him, Nightmare shot into the air, the dark energy clouds around her growing as she prepared to bring forth the moon.
“STOOOOP!!!”
Nightmare ceased her impressive show to face the voice. Heading towards the mountain she saw a familiar-looking black and maroon helicopter. As it neared, it became obvious that it was in less than optimal condition- its armor plating was bent and burned, if not missing altogether, revealing circuits underneath.
It neared the castle and converted into a bulky robot before landing... then falling flat on its face.
“Shiftech!” GLaDOS cried out, rushing to the side of her fallen ally. “What in the pit happened?!”
“As I feared, Noizemaze and his crew showed up,” Shiftech explained as GLaDOS helped him to his stabilizing servos. “And as expected, he was a bit slagged off when he figured out I was doing something without his permission. What I DIDN’T expect was him allowing the portal device to further malfunction.”
“Why would he do that?” Makuta inquired.
“Because of HIM,” Shiftech said, pointing a battered finger at Legatron.
“What?!” Legatron exclaimed.
“Noizemaze wished for this universe and everything in it to die, because then you will die too,” Shiftech explained. “And the prophecy of you and your little Allspark friends defeating Unicron will never come to pass.”
“So... he’s willing to kill this universe, and all the other ones currently connected to it, to destroy me?” Legatron questioned.
“He’d destroy half the Primus damned Multiverse if it meant killing one of you,” Shiftech muttered gravely.
Legatron’s wings lowered from their normal upright position this realization sunk in. He knew that the heralds of Unicron wanted him and his team dead (and they were very hard to kill, as both his allies and enemies were well aware). But he had never fully realized the magnitude of what they were willing to do to destroy him.
“So why aren’t YOU in on it?” Optimus inquired.
“Because I don’t want to die, you numbskull!” Shiftech roared, almost losing his balance. "Noizemaze may be willing to throw his spark away so quickly, but I'm not!"
All fell silent for a moment as they considered what course of action to take.
"So, we're not going to have a huge battle?" Pinkie piped up.
"It would seems as though we're not," Teridax answered.
"But that doesn't make any sense!" the party pony continued. "This was all the perfect setup for an epic clash of the franchises!"
"Are you complaining?" Booster asked.
"Yeah, 'cause we would have TOTALLY kicked your butts!" Dieseltron proclaimed.
"Irrelevant,” optimus said. “What we need is a plan for a combined attack on Noizemaze.”
“Prime’s right,” Shiftech agreed. “We need to march up that mountain and kick Noizemaze and his cronies off of it so that I can continue my efforts to stabilize the portal... er, portals.”
“And with our combined forces, we should be enough to drive him away, correct?” Celestia inquired.
Shiftech nodded, now standing on his own without GLaDOS’ help.
“Oh, no no no!” Nightmare exclaimed. “There is NO way I’m working with those ponies or ANY of their allies!”
“It’s either that, or die along with this universe,” Shiftech replied. “Take your pick.”
Nightmare fell silent, putting her hand on her chin in contemplation.
“Well?!” Teridax prodded.
“Hang on, I’m thinking,” the black and blue femme replied, earning a variety of eye-rolls and groans from the group. “Alright, fine. I’ll help.”
Shiftech nodded. “Good. First item on the agenda: gather whatever weapons and resources we may need for the battle.”
“I will go with the ponies to get the Elements of Harmony,” Celestia announced.
"I'm sure one of you could help me fix my jetpack," Optimus said to the other robots, a bit reluctantly. He received an affirmative nod from GLaDOS.
"Give me a gun and I'll mess them up something good!" Dan exclaimed, punching the air. "It's been at least three hours since I last unleashed my pent-up fury, and when I do..." He pointed to Dipper and Mabel. "The children might need to shield their eyes."
"Hey! I've seen PLENTY of violent things in my day!" Dipper insisted.
"Actually, we might need to find a different approach for you guys," Legatron pointed out.
"Aw, WHAT?!" Dan shouted, his aforementioned rage beginning to show.
"I agree," Luna said. "It is not safe for such small and undefended individuals to partake in what will most assuredly be a violent and hazardous battle."
"Does anyone understand what that blue pony is saying?" Dieseltron inquired.
"She said it won't be safe," XR replied, "unless they have THESE!" With that he reached into his stomach-mounted drawer and withdrew three high-tech laser blasters and handed them to the humans.
"AWESOME!" Mabel exclaimed as she began examining the red laser pistol she was given. "They look like if Nyarf guns were real!"
"I have no idea what that means," Dan replied, cocking his new laser shotgun. "But I agree! The blue pony was onto something."
"Actually, that is not at all the solution I envisioned," Luna responded.
"Don't care, has space shotgun!" the human snapped, purposely using bad grammar in a futile attempt to try to make his point.
"Are you sure these things are safe?" Dipper asked cautiously, carefully examining the sci-fi blaster in his hands.
"Well sure!" XR replied. "Long as you don't aim at eyes or face... or any other body parts..."
"XR, we can't just give guns to little kids," Mira said. "Or grown men who act like little kids, for that matter," she added, glancing at Dan, who didn't seem to notice her insult.
"Hey, we need all the help we can get!" the small robot replied.
Celestia, followed by Shining Armor and the other ponies wearing their respective Elements of Harmony, then exited the castle.
"Are we ready to go?" the white alicorn asked.
GLaDOS finished welding something within Optimus' jetpack before closing the access hatch. "There- you should be able to fly again now," she reported.
"I'm ready!" Dan said, aiming his shotgun and firing at a nearby shrub. The foliage was instantly reduced to ashes.
"... Whose idea was it to give him a weapon?" Celestia asked.
The entirety of the group glared at XR, who only shuffled his treaded feet and waved nervously.
"I'm honestly not sure if we'll even need THAT much ammunition..." Shiftech muttered. "I mean, it's only Noisemaze and his three cronies."
"Then why would we need their help at all?!" Nightmare exclaimed.
"We don't need them to help us fight," Shiftech explained, "But we may need them to help us shut the portal."
Nightmare opened her mouth to argue, but stopped when she realized that Shiftech had a point; if they couldn't close the wormhole before, what chance did they have now that it was even bigger and more unstable?
"So how are we going to get to the other mountain?" Optimus inquired. "It took us long enough to get up this one."
GLaDOS raised her right arm, Cybertronian-sized portal gun attached and glowing. "Simple. We fight portals with portals."
"Why didn't you do that when we first came here from the other mountain?!" Dieseltron exclaimed.
"Because the I felt like flying," the white femme replied. She then raised her arm and pointed it at the mountain directly below the ever-expanding blue vortex and fired. A blue ball of energy leapt from her arm-mounted device and sailed at a seemingly impossibly fast pace to the other mountain. After she was sure the portal had formed, she switched the settings on her portal gun, changing the blue lights to a glowing orange before aiming it at one of Canterlot Castle's many tall, blank white walls and firing. It created an orange-rimmed hole that connected to the blue one.
Shiftech, Diesel and Nightmare then sprang into action, leaping through the portal and aiming their weapons.
"Area clear," Shiftech reported, "Move quickly before they catch on."
"After you," GLaDOS said to her new 'allies', motioning to Optimus in particular.
The Autobot leader nodded before changing into his vehicle form and opening his doors, allowing Dan, Dipper and Mabel to climb into his cab.
"I'm still not sure that bringing them along is the best idea," Celestia pointed out, referring to the three humans.
"Coming along may be their only chance of getting home," Shiftech explained. "If we shut the portals, we close the doors to their universes. Having them there may better allow us to figure out some other way of getting them home."
Celestia considered this. "Alright, but they stay with Optimus for safety."
“But what about the other two humans in the jail?” Shining Armor asked.
“We’ll portal back for them, just go!” GLaDOS insisted, ignoring the fact that they could use the same tactic on the three humans they had with them.
Legatron flew up and landed on top of Prime's cab. "I'll provide some extra protection!" He then struck a pose, pointing towards the orange portal. "Allies, transform and roll out!"
He was met with a variety of blank and confused stares.
The green mech shrugged. "Couldn't resist."
With that, the group began moving. The Space Rangers entered first, followed by GLaDOS and Optimus, who was still carrying Dan, Dipper, Mabel and Legatron. Teridax was next, followed by the bearers of the Elements of Harmony and the two Princesses, as well as Shining Armor.
After they had all passed through, the portal shut, leaving only an empty area outside the castle that now sported tire track and a few sets of massive square footprints.
**********
The larger-than-ever group instantaneously exited through the blue portal on the other mountain, which was several miles away.
"Woah, gotta get me one of those things," Dan remarked.
He and the twins were startled when Legatron appeared in the view, hanging off of Optimus' roof and peering through his windows. "If you follow GLaDOS back to Aperture Science, I'm sure she'll be glad to give you one... then kill you with bullets and lasers."
Dan sighed. "Nothing's free anymore..."
"The portal device is at the top of the mountain," Shiftech explained. "We can take this path to the top."
"Uh, not to knock on your plan or anything," Mira started, "But wouldn't it have been easier to portal to the top to begin with?"
"As I stated earlier, Noizemaze will have his men on high alert," the black mech explained. "They'd be ready for us if we portaled to the top, but they won't expect us climbing up the side of the mountain. We have to move fast before they catch on, though."
"Is everyone through?" GLaDOS asked, receiving affirmative nods from the ponies. "Good," she replied before adjusting her portal device, thus shutting the portals.
With that, they began the trek up the side of the mountain. The Space Rangers hovered over the group, keeping watch. Shiftech, Dieseltron and Nightmare led the way, while GLaDOS and Teridax took up the rear.
"I'm not sure I like how they're surrounding us," Shining Armor whispered to Celestia, glancing forward and back at the sinister and much larger metal beings.
"We'll be fine," Celestia assured him. "You of all ponies sould know that they're just assuming a good defensive strategy."
"I know," the unicorn guard admitted. "It's just that it's also a perfect stance for an ambush."
"As long as we're useful to them, they won't shoot us," the white alicorn responded.
"And after that?"
The princess fell silent before responding. "Pray that Shiftech has some sliver of honor in his being."
The group continued up the mountain in silence. Even the more carefree and talkative beings like Mabel and Pinkie had fallen silent, aware of the grave nature of the situation.
After a few minutes if walking, driving and flying, they had almost reached the top. They came to a large flat area that stretched several thousand yards across. Ahead, they could see the portal device, jutting out from an elevated plateau that marked the highest point of the mountain.
Neither Noizemaze nor any of his men were in sight.
"Tread carefully, all," Shiftech ordered. "This is most certainly a trap."
"Aw, couldn't you have phrased that to better match the popular quote?" Legatron asked.
"It's a trap!" Noizemaze announced, appearing from behind the plateau.
"Yeah, like that!" Legatron replied. His optics then widened in realization. "Oh crap!"
"Heh heh," Dan chuckled. "He said 'crap'."
"Remind me again why I have to be the one to sit next to you?" Dipper asked, almost gagging from Dan's combined body odor and horrible breath.
"Word of advice, Noizemaze," Shiftech started, "If you have a trap, don't tell us until you've sprung it."
Noizemaze tapped his sharp orange fingers together, seeming to touch something on his palm. "Oh-ho, but I already HAVE sprung it."
A low, mechanical buzzing sound suddenly met the ears and audio receptors of the group. From atop the plateau ahead suddenly flew a swarm of small beige pony-like creatures. As they drew closer, their features could be better made out- they were made of a light tan metal with glowing blue eyes. Their legs had several gaps in them, making them appear to be thin robotic skeletons.
"Changelings?" Celestia worried.
"ROBOT changelings!" Twilight screamed after they came closer.
"Yes indeed, little fleshbags," Noizemaze mocked. "I ventured through that portal up there and made the most remarkable discovery- a world just like this one, but at the same time, completely different..."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Booster asked, thoroughly confused.
"A negative pony universe," Shiftech realized. “If this universe were to be directly connected to it, such as through an Aperture Science portal...”
“The opposing energies would conflict, thus causing the strange behavior in the portal!” GLaDOS finished.
“And every second that portal remains open, the risk if it destroying everything becomes greater,” Teridax added.
“So you’re going to hold us off long enough for everything to go boom,” Dieseltron said.
“Technically it’ll be more of a ‘VORP’ as everything implodes on itself,” Noizemaze explained, “But yeah, pretty much. Anyway, I went into the parallel universe-”
“Negative universe,” Shiftech corrected.
“Same thing!”
“Not really.”
“WHATEVER!” Noizemaze boomed angrily “I found these guys. HUNDREDS of them. It was easy enough to hack their control signals. Primitive technology, but it will be enough to keep you guys at bay.”
By now the robot-changelings had completely surrounded the group, forming a rough dome shape over them.
“This won’t end well,” Dieseltron muttered.
“Change-bots, ATTACK!” the black and orange robot ordered.
With that, small blasters rose out of each of the Changeling’s sides and took careful aim at the group.
“COUNTERATTACK!” Shiftech roared, activating his arm-mounted blasters. “We have to get closer to the portal!” The other group members responded by readying their weapons as well.
At once, both sides opened fire. The top of the mountain instantly became a thick rain of lasers, dark energy, and bolts of magic.
Shiftech and his four inter-universal friends took to the skies, swinging their melee weapons at the drones in hopes of destroying them before they could lock onto a target.
The non-magic-using ponies resorted to kicking, punching, and in Fluttershy's case, avoiding.
“Should we use the Elements of Harmony on them?” Twilight asked.
“Only as a last resort!” Celestia replied, scorching the robots with her solar magic. “We may need their power to close the portals!”
Optimus, still in truck mode, swerved and dodged, trying to get his ladder-mounted guns in an optimal firing position. In his cab, Dipper, Mabel and Dan found themselves being thrown around as the Prime took hit after hit.
"Optimus, you gotta let us out so you can transform!" Dipper shouted.
"Can't do that," the Prime replied. "I promised that I'd keep you humans safe!"
"We have guns, gear-brain!" Dan shouted. "We'll be fine!"
"Besides, you'd be able to help better in your robot mode!" Mabel pointed out.
Sighing in defeat, Optimus pulled into a clear area and unlocked his door. The three humans tumbled out- quite literally- allowing the red and blue Autobot to transform.
"Now stay out of trouble!" Optimus ordered.
Dan replied by cocking his shotgun and shooting down one of the Changelings... thus attracting the attention of several other drones.
"Oh $#*+'," Dn muttered
"What did I JUST tell you?!" Optimus roared angrily as he began swatting at the small beige robots.
"Oh yeah!" Mabel cheered as she began shooting her own blaster. "Target practice!"
"Mabel, watch out! Dipper cried out as one of the Changelings snuck up behind her. He raised his gun and pulled the trigger, causing a bolt of energy to arc through the air and hit the drone square in the face.
"Nice shot!" his sister complemented as she resumed firing.
"And Grunkle Stan said those Nyarf gun battles were pointless!" Dipper mused as he scored several more hits on other drones.
Up above, Shiftech's crew and the Space Rangers were hard at work blasting away at the majority of the Changeling drones that were still airborne.
Buzz flew near GLaDOS, careful not to take his eyes off of his enemies. "Can you use that portal thing to get us to the machine?"
GLaDOS raised her portal gun and fired, but the Changeling drones shot their own lasers at the portal bolt, dispersing it.
"If I could get a clear shot, but THAT'S clearly not happening," she said, switching her device back to 'attack' mode, causing it to start shooting deadly lasers.
"Then we'll just have to make a break for it," Mira said, flying up next to Buzz.
"Good plan," Shiftech shouted, having overheard their conversation. "Nightmare, Teridax, Diesel- stay here and hold off the drones! GLaDOS will go with me to the portal."
"Booster, Mira, stay with them!" Buzz ordered. "XR, with me!"
The soldiers took action to comply with their orders, Shiftech leading the leaving troops by converting into his helicopter mode and activated his rocket boosters. GLaDOS, too, shifted into her alternate mode, becoming a sleek unmanned jet. The selected Space Rangers followed close behind, tailed by a squad of drones.
"If we get far enough away from them, I can portal the others over there!" the white femme announced.
"Right," Shiftech replied. "So we-"
He was abruptly cut off by the appearance of Galvatron, Scourge and Cyclonus, who formed a hovering three-bot wall between them and the portal device.
"Slagit, forgot about them," the black and maroon helicopter admitted as he reverted to his robot form.
GLaDOS also assumed her primary form. "You can't fight them, Shiftech. You're still damaged from your last encounter with them."
"Yes, Shiftech," Galvatron mocked. "Go run away like the big protoform that you-"
The purple and gray mech was suddenly tackled by a familiar red and blue Autobot and crashed into the ground.
The Herald of Unicron shook his head to regain his bearings, then glaring at the robot hovering above him. "Optimus Prime."
"Been awhile, Galvatron," the Prime stated. "And here I thought I had finished you off."
Galvatron smirked. "You'll find that my mind is much clearer than it was back then. This rematch will not leave you as well as our original battle."
Optimus held up his axe menacingly before charging at his opponent. "Challenge accepted."
Meanwhile, Scourge and Cyclonus were reconsidering their upcoming battle, not liking the change in odds.
The roar of what could only be a feral beast tore across the mountain as Teridax's dragon mode suddenly descended on the Heralds of Unicron.
"I told you to stay behind!" Shiftech shouted.
The Makuta hovered between Shiftech and the remaining Heralds. "The drone things are almost all dead, so I thought you could use a servo."
Shiftech stole a glance behind him, and sure enough, the army of drones was noticeably smaller. The group that had been following them was now laying on the ground in a charred heap.
Not waiting for an answer, Teridax opened his dragon mouth and began spewing firebolts at Cyclonus and Scourge, who found it a good idea to make a break for it. Unfortunately for them, the Makuta dragon saw fit to follow them and continue to try to incinerate them.
"GLaDOS, can you portal us the rest of the way there?" Shiftech asked.
The female robot nodded as she raised her arm and fired an orange portal at the plateau, then a blue one below them. The two robots and two Space Rangers quickly went through, appearing several hundred meters ahead.
“Hurry!” Shiftech prompted.
Nodding, GLaDOS turned around and fired another blue portal, this one closer to where the other members of their makeshift alliance were fighting.
Not wasting any more time, Shiftech then lead them up the side of the plateau...
Only to come faceplate-to-faceplate with Noizemaze himself.
“Hello again,” the black and orange baddie mocked.
Shiftech responded by pointing his arm-mounted guns at his one-time ally. “It’s over, Noizemaze. My troops have yours on the run, and your army of drones is about done for.”
“Oh, are they?” Noizemaze mocked as he held up what appeared to be a tiny remote control. He pointed behind him it at what seemed to be a much larger ‘Changeling’ drone. The larger drone’s eyes lit up as it accepted the order.
“So you have one that's bigger than the others, big whoop,” Shiftech deadpanned.
“Shiftech, what’s going on?!” GLaDOS’ voice cried out.
The bulky black robot turned around to ask what she meant... when he saw the parts of the dead Changeling drones rising into the air and re-forming themselves, effectively re-building the army.
“Oh slag,” Shiftech swore as the robot-Changeling army reconstructed itself in a matter of seconds. He realized that the larger one, rather than being a Changeling super-soldier as he had thought, was actually their control interface.
“You see, Shifty,” Noizemaze mocked as he waved around the remote,” I always have the upper hand-”
He was suddenly interrupted by a laser blast that shot the remote out of his hand.
“Nice try, yah metal freak.” Both robots looked up in surprise to see a pony that looked suspiciously like Twilight, but with a more muted color palette, bat wings, and pupils narrowed to slits. “But we want our army back!”
A yellow blur suddenly rushed by them, snatching up the remote. The blurr stopped next to the not-Twilight, revealing a Fluttershy with a black-and-white mane and dark yellow coat wearing red armor. “Let’s see how you like THIS, motherbuckers!”
“What in the Pit is going on here?!” Noizemaze exclaimed.
“If I had to take a guess,” Shiftech said, “These are the negative-universe ponies you stole the drones from.”
“Yez, indeed,” a scrubs-green Pinkie Pie with a flat mane said as she walked up from behind a rock, speaking in a heavy German accent. “Ze Celestia’s Head Automatons Neutralizing General Enemy Low Interference Negating Govermnet and zeir control module, zee Computerized Hybrid Robot Intelligence System And Legion Interface Sentry, vere developed by Her Highness Queen Zeleztia of the Equeztrian Empire to ensure her rule vould go unchallenged.”
“You know you mis-spelled ‘Chrysalis’ in that last acronym,” Shiftech pointed out.
“Vell, zere aren’t zat many verds zat begin vit ‘Y’!” the pony said.
“Enough, Doctor Pinkimena,” Negative Twilight ordered. “Now, you robots shall be punished for this-”
“WAIT!” Shiftech shouted. "You don't want to hurt us!"
Negative Twilight emitted what sounded like a combination of a bat screech and a chuckle. "And why not?"
"Well first off, there are two warring groups of robots here, and I'm part of the one that DIDN'T steal your robots," Shiftech explained, suddenly raising his arm and shooting Noizemaze in the face as proof.
"Slag you!" the orange and gold Herald of Unicron swore as he clutched his now-damaged face.
"Furthermore," Shiftech continued, "That portal you came through is about to tear apart this universe, your universe, and at least four others, destroying us all unless we can stop it."
"If ze portal eez clozed, how vill ve get back?" Doctor Pinkimena asked.
"We have other, more stable forms of inter-universal travel," the bulky robot explained. "Wouldn't be a problem."
After a moment of consideration, Negative Twilight received affirmative nods from Pinkimena and Negative Fluttershy. Sighing, she pushed a button on the remote, causing the C.H.A.N.G.E.L.I.N.G.S. to land and retract their weapons.
The others took the opportunity to go through GLaDOS' new set of portals and appear near their goal. They left Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge in unconscious heaps.
"Oooooh no you don't!" Noisemaze said, his hands converting into blasters. "I've come too far to let my efforts be-"
Negative Twilight then activated a number of C.H.A.N.G.E.L.I.N.G.S., which started shooting and and clawing on the remaining Herald of Unicron. Noizemaze responded by screaming like a little filly as he tried to knock off the tiny drones he had been controlling only minutes ago.
"That should hold him," Shiftech noted, amused, as he and the others walked up the Universe Portal Device. At long last, after all their struggles, they had finally made it. He walked closer to the device-
Only to be bounced off of a previously-invisible shield, sending him sprawling on the ground.
Noizemaze laughed between his shrieks of pain. “You didn't think I wouldn’t have a back-up plan, did you?!”
“Actually, I didn’t,” Shiftech admitted as he picked himself up off the ground.
“What?” Noizemaze asked as he swatted a drone off of his head. “Nevermind. OW! Stupid drone! Anyways, the force field is drawing its energy from -OUCH!- the portal itself, so you can’t -AUGH- get rid of it! The force field, I mean. Though the- ARGH!- device isn’t going anywhere, either.”
“There goes THAT plan,” Legatron sighed.
“So, what is our alternative course of action?” Luna inquired.
Shiftech thought for a moment before asking, “Noizemaze, does the force field extend over the portal itself?”
Noizemaze waited a moment before answering. “Uh, why would I- GAH!- tell you?”
“Translation- you didn’t think of that, and don’t want to admit it,” Optimus deadpanned.
“OK, new plan!” Shiftech announced. "Enough energy shot into the portla should cause it to callapse in on itself! On my signal, shoot every ounce of laser, magic , and any other energy you have into that thing!”
"That's a pretty risky plan," Teridax pointed out.
"If you have a better idea, I'm all audio receptors," Shiftech replied. The Makuta fell silent.
Every bot, human and pony then aimed every weapon and magical mcguffin theybhad at the portal.
"No! You can't!" Noizemaze exclaimed, right as one of the C.H.A.N.G.E.L.I.N.G.S. shot him in the faceplate.
"FIRE!" Shiftech ordered
At once, the portal was bombarded by a variety of energy ranging from laser blasts to dark energy bolts to rainbow-hued magic.
After a few moments, the portal began to shrink.
"It's working!" Dieseltron exclaimed excitedly.
Shiftech looked to the other, smaller portals, barely visible over the horizon. To his relief, they were beginning to shrink as well, likely due to their energy source being disrupted.
The group members smiled as their efforts continued to shrink the vortex... until a problem arose
Buzz was the first to point it out. "We're running low on energy!" Sure enough, the Space Ranger's laser streams were beginning to weaken
Meanwhile, with the ponies, the Elements of Harmony began to sputter. "Us, too!" Twilight exclaimed, beginning to panic.
"Just a little more!" Shiftech said, feeling the strain his own guns were putting on his frame.
The vortex continued to shrink, though at an increasingly slower rate... until it stopped shrinking altogether.
“Uh-oh,” Shiftech muttered as the compressed vortex stood still for a brief moment-
Before it exploded outwards, knocking the entire group onto their backs. The blast was mostly concentrated straight below the wormhole, striking the Universe Portal Device and tearing it to metal shreds. Lightning crackled as strong winds continued to blow away from the wormhole that was now spreading faster than ever.
“Well THAT didn’t work!” Dieseltron complained, retracting his earlier statement.
Everyone stared in horror as the vortex continued to grow, only this time it was different. The explosion had somehow reversed the portal, changing it from blue to orange and casting the entire mountain in a reddish glow. One could practically hear dramatic music playing in the background, which was likely the portal ripping the fourth wall to shreds. They watched as the portal-storm continued to grow. It suddenly began sucking all of the matter in this universe, reducing the horizons to nothing but inky blackness. All of reality began to dissolve, leaving the mountain and those still on it as the last things that existed in the universe.
Suddenly, Shiftech noticed something- a small, blue glow among the flying wreckage of the Universe Portal Device.
“The Tesseract!” he exclaimed, pointing to the rapidly-moving glow. “It’s the original source of the portal! If we destroy it, it might shut this whole thing down before it destroys any more universes!”
Hearing this, Teridax lunged for the cube, which was still flying around from the winds created by the vortex and kept aloft by its own mysterious energies. However, the small shape slipped easily through the makuta’s massive fingers.
Next it came to the Space Rangers. However, they had exhausted their suit’s power, meaning they couldn’t fly high enough to reach it.
Luna attempted to make a grab for it, but found it too difficult to fly in the gale-force winds.
Optimus attempted to snatch it out of the air, but had a similar problem, to Teridax, where his hands were too big to grasp the tiny object.
The Tesseract continued to almost nonchalantly sail through the air, now nearing the edge of the mountain. Everyone was well aware that if it fell off the side, their only hope would be lost forever.
A cable with a hook on the end suddenly wrapped around the cube, stopping it seconds before it plunged over the edge of the mountain and out of reality.
“WHOOP WHOOP!” Mabel cheered. “GRAPPLING HOOK!”
“Have you had that thing the whole time?!” Dipper exclaimed. “You know what, nevermind! Just retract the cable!”
Mable complied, reeling in the line like a fishing rod, bringing the cube to the twins, who held it down. Its energy continued to pour out of it from what they now saw was a small crack, which was likely why it had been ominously floating around in complete disregard to gravity (which technically shouldn’t have existed, as the entirety of the rest of the universe had been obliterated, but they weren't about to complain).
“Dan!” Dipper shouted, noticing he was the only other one nearby. “DESTROY IT!”
“I can’t!” the older human exclaimed. “I lost my gun when that thing knocked us all over!”
The others atop the mountain tried to move closer to help, or at least shoot it from where they were, but found they couldn’t with the winds still pounding at them. Down below, they could feel the mountain continue to dissolve into nothingness.
“Then catch this!” Legatron’s exclaimed as a small, handle-like device shot out of his palm and sailed in the air towards the three humans. Dan caught it in his right hand. As his fingers closed around it, it morphed into a sword handle and grew a blue laser blade.
He then wasted no time in turning the sword blade-side down and thrusting it into the cube.
A bright blue light was emitted by the now-damaged Tesseract that shot through the air and into the portal. The blue and orange energies mixed, combining into a sphere that glowed brighter, until it was pure white...
It then expanded outwards, engulfing the mountain and all who were on it in its light, consuming the final remaining bit of the universe.
