After former Stalwart Leader Phil Eggtree managed to free Area 5.1 from Shaw DeLot's control, Phil proceeded to live a normal life through the Riddle Elementary School along with his three friends, Helping Hand Phred Whistler, Ex-human Fireplace Zack Kelvin and Eager Scholar Smiley Sundae.

A Science fair was scheduled for October 19th, 2012. This Science Fair was projected to be made in groups of 2. Phil didn't had anything original in his mind, and since Phil wasn't heavy enough to assist in Phred's project(which required a quite heavy assistant, but not as heavy as Chubb), he had to stick with Smiley, mainly because she was generally smarter than the other students, and that she was the only other student who didn't had an assistant.

"Do you mind if I be your assistant?", Phil asked.

"Not really, even though you made that mustard-me.", Smiley replied, reminding Phil of the time he made the school-famous Smiley Smudge with mustard on the elementary school(that was why Phil was sent to a special class, and eventually, to escape school, causing the evil alien Viz to believe there was evil intent on Earth and to anniquilate the planet).

"Hey, I was bored. That, and I was only 5 years old.", Phil countered.

"Well, it doesn't matters anymore. Well, as long as you did learned a lesson when we headed back to earth along Diz. You did, right?", Smiley continued.

"Yeah, I learned.", Phil replied.

Their little chat was interrupted as it was their turn to show the experiment. Smiley prepared to turn on the machine. It is supposed to throw in a X-Ray in the voluntary's body, revealing what is inside them. However, little did the two know that a small piece of the clever device is missing. Oddly enough, the machine had to make a portal within the body of the volunteer, which would happen to be another dimension. Then, it would project what it looks like in the front of the volunteer. This object would prevent the volunteer from being sucked in the portal. What's funny is that the portal will send the victim to a random dimension.

"Okay, now, we just turn the device, and...", Smiley commented as she turned the key. What you expected just happened.

"Uhh, what's happenin-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!", Phil yelled as he was sucked into the portal.

"....that was not supposed to happen.", Smiley replied as he opened the hatch of the device. "Ah, I see the problem. The cookie-like device that's supposed to prevent Phil from being sent to another dimension is missing!", she pointed out.

"That's not a cookie? Oops...", Chubb replied.

"Well, what do we do, now? Phil's the only one in our group who can resolve those kind of problems, and it was just him who vanished.", Phred commented.

"This is worst than the times I was still freezing...", Zack also commented. After remembering the times he shivered coldly, he instantly replied again. "Thinking better, I think it's not as bad as that.", he countered himself.

"Okay, what do you girls think we should crusade now? I'm outta ideas.", Scootaloo commented.

"I'm out of ideas, too.", Sweetie Belle replied.

"Oh, I know!", Apple Bloom spoke. "We shoul' be plant researchers!", she suggested.

"Plant researchers? That's too...dull.", Scootaloo replied.

"Actually, I think it's a good idea. Unlike the other crusading we did, it's not too dangerous.", Sweetie Belle defended.

"But how would even our cutie marks look like?", Scootaloo insisted.

"Maybe some leaves an' a book?", Apple Bloom suggested.

"You don't understand me, don't you?", Scootaloo asked. Apple Bloom and Sweetie belle shook their heads in response. Scootaloo face-hoofed. "What I'm saying is that plant researching is too boring. Why don't we do something cooler?", she suggested.

"Scootaloo, leaf researching is one of the very few ideas that we still haven't tried.", Sweetie responded. Scootaloo was about to reply, but Sweetie interrupted. "No, we can't do the other ideas because we still haven't thought about them.", she continued. Scootaloo grunted and leaned backwards. However, instantly she perked up.

"Oh, I know! Why don't we look for the plants in the Everfree Forest?", she suggested.

"You remember our sisters...and parents... prohibited us from enterin' the Everfree again, right?", Apple Bloom asked to make sure.

"I know, but it will be just a short visit, and it's for a good cause!", she countered.

"*sigh* Alright, but if they find out, we will blame you.", Sweetie Belle gave in.

"Well, what are we waitin' for?", Apple Bloom asked. The three inhaled deeply, and...

"CUTIE MARK CRUSADER PLANT RESEARCHERS!!", the three yelled in unison as they trotted to the forbidden forest.

Location: Everfree Forest, Equestria

"Remember the time I mentioned that this place gave me the freaks?", Sweetie asked. Apple Bloom and Scootaloo nodded. "Well, it still gives me them.".

"It gives everyone the freaks. Well, obviously except Rainbow Dash.", Scootaloo replied, adding the obvious part to the end.

"So, which plant should we research first?", Apple Bloom asked.

"How about that?", Sweetie suggested, pointing to a bush.

"Nope, too small.", Scootaloo replied.

"And about that one?", Apple Bloom suggested.

"Nope, too big.", Scootaloo replied again.

Some time later...

"And that one?"

"Too defected."

"What about this?"

"Too fat."

The three have been travelling for quite a long time through the Everfree Forest. They even were reaching the river next to the abandoned castle that the battle against Nightmare Moon took place.

"A-HA! That one is PERFECT!", Scootaloo suggested. She immediatly ran towards the tree. Scoot and Sweetie kept inspecting the bottom of the tree, but Apple Bloom never kept eyes out of the branches.

"Hand me the notepad, Sweetie.", Scootaloo ordered.

"I was supposed to bring them?!", Sweetie asked. Scootaloo double face-hoofed and fell to the floor.

"Uh, girls? You might want to check out that.", Apple Bloom broke in as she pointed to an odd creature. A very odd creature. Maybe even the oddest creature the three have seen, even odder than the cockatrice.
