fall from grace

Previous Chapter

There I was, falling from the city and world I had known my whole life. Falling away from the filly who loved me, perhaps the only pony ever to do so. Watched as my sister shed a single tear for me, screaming for me to fly, but I couldn't, the shock of the moment stopped me from moving even a single feather. My whole sad life flashed before my eyes, finding my birth certificate, passing flight school, playing with my sister, and then the fall, the only things that stood out to me. My sister's beautiful face quickly left my sight as I fell, my eyes succumbing to tears. "So this is how my story ends. Falling from grace, almost something heroic about that." My thoughts raced towards an inevitable conclusion, I was about to die. Like a baby bird falling from a nest to cry out for help that would never come.

When I hit the ground I didn't feel any pain, just pressure of impact. I blacked out when I hit. When I woke up, I was in a forest, strange noises surrounded me, but I wasn't worried about that. A throbbing pain in one wing, and a total lack of feeling in the other took precedence over anything else. I looked back at them, the one that was in pain was very plainly broken, the other, hung limp and wouldnt move at all, no pain, no strength. No wings, I was grounded. In a dark forest full of creatures I did not know the name of, I was a lone pegasus without wings. I was afraid to move from where I landed, hoping my sister would fly down and rescue me. She never did, I waited for hours, she never came. I was abandoned in an unknown forest. I was going to die here.

When I finally summoned the courage to move, I found that the forest was not entirely unpopulated, there were ruins of a great castle, from long ago. I had heard of this place in school. The Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters, at least that's what I remembered it being called. I now at least, knew where I was, deep in the Everfree Forest. I knew where I was, but that didn't help me, I was lost, without any idea of which way to go. I decided to try and find somepony to help me, maybe fix up my wings, at least the one I knew was broken, the other one felt like a lost cause, no pain, no feeling whatsoever. I headed what I thought was east, until I saw light, "I found my way out! Now I just need to find somepony."  I was safe, I smiled. There was a school near, I could hear fillies playing. That meant their teacher was there. "Good, she can help me." I rushed towards the schoolhouse. The fillies didn't notice me, good, I didn't want to attract attention, I just needed to talk to the pink mare watching over them. She could help me, or at least get me to a hospital.
