I awoke in a white room with rows of other filly's, medical supplies abundent on all the counters, a sign in red letters that stood above a door reading "intense care" and a terrible glare that came from rectangular lights from above that gave off a loud hum. I turned my head side to side and saw I was encased within a giant plastic cylinder, with tubes running all along my body and up my snout. Not knowing where I was or what was going on I started to fidget around and cry, until I saw three black figures approach me from all sides and look down onto me. I was now silent in studying them and what they were doing. One of the figures was wearing a white coat and holding a clipboard flipping through the pages while conversing with the other two figures on the opposite side of the first. The second figure had jewelry on her ears, and around her neck, while the third figure had a thick stubble all around his jawline and slicked back hair that gleamed in the light from above.
I was now completely focused on the second and third figure that stood above me, both of them with water running down their cheeks and rolling off of their chins, landing onto my cylinder casing. Confused I turned my attention to the first figure who had just put down his clipboard and began talking to the other two.
"We are all sorry, due to how early she was, her birth defects will be permanent.".
The figure with the jewelry plastered all over her held her hooves to her face and leaned into the shoulder of the colt standing next to her. Wrapping his arm around the mare he began to respond.
"Is there nothing more we can do?" said the colt.
"I am afraid not, magic and science have only come so far... maybe some point in her lifetime we'll have a solution for the filly", he tapped on the plastic as to point attention to me, "but for now this is all we can do." he said with a sigh to catch his breath. He continued "she is stable, and within a couple of months she will be able to leave and live a more or less ordinary life".
The mare bawling her eyes out onto the colt by her side gathered some composure and began to plea to the colt in white across from her.
"If money is an issue..." the colt in white raised his hoof as to silence her.
"Like I said before, I am sorry. There is just nothing more we can do at this point.". He then proceeded to walk away from my line of sight. I turned back over to see the other two figures entwined, the colt gently stroking the mare's mane as to comfort her in some way. After a few minutes of continuous crying the mare turned around away from the comfort of the colt's shoulder revealing her cyan eyes surrounded by red from her excessive crying. She leaned down and kissed the cylinder, then whispered.
"If only you were normal" And proceeded to walk away with the colt. The mare walked through the doorway and the colt turned to face me once more.
"Your no daughter of mine..." He murmured as he walked out, not even bothering to close the door.
A few months later
"So the big hand indicates the hour of the day and the little hand indicates what minute it is within that hour... Speaking of which look at the time, I think its time for all good fillies to go to sleep" nurse Redheart said barely covering up her yawn due to the time. She sat her book she was reading from down and set them among a pile of others. The books varied from math, science, english, history, all the things young minds needed to know in their lives. "Is there anything you'd like to say to me before I head out for the night deary?". I only held my hoof to the plastic as to reach out to her, the only way I knew how to communicate. "Still can't talk huh? Well... that excuse doesn't work with me missy, just because you can't speak that doesn't excuse you from becoming a productive member of society!" She said with a playful tone of enthusiasm and a wink. "You'll be able to talk someday soon, I'm sure of it. Goodnight sweetie.". She said as she pecked the outside of my container and began to walk out of the room. She turned off the lights and I could see her stare back at me one more time before the door shut.
Nurse Redheart was the only visitor that I have ever gotten in here, besides the occasional doctor visit. But I rather detested those visits... Always pricking me with needles, giving me shots. I don't even know what for! Ms. Redheart says I'm perfectly fine, I don't get it but oh well. She constantly tells me that they only give me the shots because they love me and want to keep me healthy, but I feel just fine! She says once I'm well enough my parents will come and we'll live happily together. So far that has yet to happen.
I ceased my thoughts and leaned back ont my side closing my eyes, allowing me to drift off into a slumber.
Later that evening
I awoke from my sleep within my plastic cylinder with an erratic shake. My eyes bolted open and I saw a dark hooded figure eyeing back at me. He froze for a moment then held his hoof up to his face and began to hiss as to make sure I didn't scream. He lifted my container and began to disconnect all the cords connected to it. Once this started I began to cry, almost instantly hoofsteps could be heard coming from outside of the room. The dark hooded figures eye widened as his head jolted back and forth, and without a moments notice began to sprint straight towards one of the rooms four walls. I closed my eyes thinking we were going to crash. But when I opened them again I was astonished to see that we were inside a hallway and his head was glowing a bright blue. As he sprinted throughout the halls, an alarm went off, which must have caught the mystery colt off guard because he in response tripped, falling to the ground losing his grip on me and allowing me to roll off to the side. With a short and loud "BUCK!" the colt was back to his hooves. Grabbing me up real quickly and proceeding on his path. As we headed down a darkened hallway, two security guard's jumped out in an attempt to stop the pony napper. The newly formed road block didn't faze the colt however, and with a "tsk" uttering from his mouth his head began to light up once more and we phased right through them... then a wall... then another, until we were finally outside.
It was the first time I was ever graced by Luna's beautiful night. Too bad the circumstances were not better. The colt grasped me tightly in his right hoof as his head slowly turned around as to gather his bearings. But his concentration was suddenly cut short by the sound of door's being slammed open unleashing a symphony of barking dogs, which could be heard making their way toward the stranger. Without a moments hesitation the colt headed towards some brush that laid in front of him. He ran into the bushes until he came out on the other side, revealing a steep slope that lead down into a canyon where a small river could be seen. The barking and hoofsteps of the guards could be heard much louder now, and becoming more so with each passing moment. In an attempt to escape, and with much hesitation he began to slide down the steep slope. Weaving in and out of debre as best he could with the lack of lighting that he had. However it was all for not. With a sudden thud the colt had been caught on a rock sticking out of the earthy slope sending the both of us flying through the air. He was the first to hit the ground making a large thud. I was the second... I'm not quite sure what sound I made because everything then went black for me. I awoke sometime later, still within the grasps of a now unmasked colt as he continued on his path sprinting all the while. His red and white mane thrashed around with each step he took. His grey coat completely drenched in his perspiration. My intense stare on the colt was broken by the sound of him whispering to himself.
"Almost there... just a little more.". Around five to ten minutes later I could see us approaching another hooded figure sitting on their haunches next to a little river where lay a small wooden basket. As we approached the mystery pony, it ripped its mask from her face and neck revealing familiar jewelry. Her hair was the color of the sun, fading in between yellow red and orange all wrapped up behind her head in a bunch that shout out in a spike. While her coat remained a simple white. She embraced the original pony napper in a loving hug, almost causing him to drop me... AGAIN! She relinquished her death grip on the colt and began her questioning.
"Were you seen? Was it difficult!?". The colt only replied with half lid eyes and a look of non amused expression on his face. After she examined his face long enough to gather her answer she started up once again.
"Okay then let's get this over with then." as she turned her attention to the basket afloat in the river, and began to skip happily over to it motioning to her partner in crime to follow. The colt happily obliged as he made his way over to the mare. He set me down on the grass next to the river and slammed his right hoof several times into the cylinder breaking it into thousands of pieces, a few of which cut my cheeks, causing my eyes to instantly tear up. The colt reached in and brushed some of the sharp plastic off of my body. He then placed me into the basket and began looking directly into my eyes, not soon after this his partner looked over and began doing the same. This was the first time I got a good look at my captures. The cyan eyes I had seen before in the mare, were distracted not caring to truly look at me. But the grey colt... his eyes.. his eyes were a full spectrum of colors. They were incredible to look upon... After a few moments of silence the colt began to clear his throat.
"Uh hmmm... yes well, hi there uhhh filly. My name is Fuze Hooves, and this is my wif- uhhh your mother, Solar Hooves. We're your parents. I know this is rather hard for you to understand. Especially since we never visited you while you were with the hospital.".
"I don't think she can even speak english yet." Solar interrupted.
"Well that doesn't mean I can't try and at least tell her what going on." Fuze replied.
"Finnnnnnnnn, if you must." Solar exclaimed with a utter disgust in her voice.
"Yes well, where was I? Oh right, so you see little filly, we come from two very prestigious families. We are even royal blood if you can believe that. And that being the case, our social status requires us to be, well.... pure. An someone as yourself... well, there just isn't room in our family tree for you if you catch my drift. We didn't know you'd turn out like this, and if word got out that we had a derped eye child, why we'd be so ashamed and what would our peers think!?" Fuze putting extra exclamation on the last part while putting a hoof to his heart as if he was having a heart attack. Turning his attention back to me after his little spasm of a performance. "We don't hate you. It's just good business... We wanted you to at least have a shot in life. That is why we didn't wait too long before doing this since fillies tend to grow up rather quickly, you can still have a foalhood. And although we may not want or love you, i'm certain someone will... Just not us. And don't worry your pretty little head" He said while patting mine. "Anyone and everyone has been paid off, It's like you never even existed. So with that it's time to say so lon... Oh wait dear would you like to say something?" turning his attention to the mare who was now fiddling with her hooves to pass the time.
Solar simply replied with a head shake followed by "Get on with it already!".
Without a moments notice later Fuze stuffed a scrap of paper with a few scribbles on it between me and my basket and pushed me forward, causing the basket to catch in the current of the river... I laid upwards and watched as my captures... my parents, slowly faded from my sight. As they were almost out of sight, my lips moved in a motion to form a word but no sound was made. I simply lipped "Why?".
