Foot to hoof
Just my luck
Previous ChapterNext ChapterBlake lay there for about an hour before his eyes reopened.
The rain was still as heavy, there were still occasional cracks of thunder and lightning strikes.
He had no idea where he was or what had happened, all he remembered was a crippling pain and then
blacking out.
He tried to move his right arm but quickly let out a groan of pain, there was no way he could move
it without discomfort, he knew he had broken it.
He decided to inspect the rest of his body before attempting any sudden movements that may cause
him more pain, he began by slowly moving his legs.
First into the air slightly, then back down, then from side to side. His legs were not in too much
pain, but there was still a sharp stinging sensation in his knee.
He moved his left arm and suddenly felt a massive pain overcome him, he looked at it and saw that
some glass had lodged itself in his arm, a small piece by his elbow and a larger piece centred
in the bottom of his arm. When he moved his arm it caused the glass to tear his skin further making him
wince in agony.
His stomach also small pieces of glass protruding from it through his shirt, aswell as that he
could feel a massive gash on his forehead. He felt the best thing to do in the situation would
be call for help, using his right arm he screamed as he moved it down to his pocket and pulled out
his phone.
The screen was cracked inward and the back had fallen off, but it still worked, barely.
He put in "911" but was unable to get a dial tone, upon further inspection he noticed he had
no reception.
"Just my God-damn luck."
He slowly moved his neck to look around but shouted after doing so.
Something was embedded in the back of his neck, he could tell what but everytime he moved his
neck he could feel the pain grow worse and worse.
There he lay, in a crippled state of pain and agony, unable to even writhe he was so sore.
Cuts all over his body, different objects such as glass, stones and pieces of plastic sticking out
of his skin and multiple broken bones.
He was helpless. He could not move any part of him without feeling pain of some degree.
With his phone still in hand, he attempted to lift it into the air to see if he could get even
one bar of reception.
He slowly craned his arm upwards wincing all the while, resisting the urge to scream.
He held it up there for a few moments and tried to look at the screen from his awkward angle.
"Yes, oh thank God yes!"
He screamed with joy as he saw he had a connection.
A weak one, but it would do.
He punched in the numbers, 9.1.1 again and pressed the call button. As soon as he did that a massive
clash of thunder could be heard from what felt like mere inches away, quickly followed by a lightning
strike.
His face suddenly looked as though it was drained of blood, his pupils dilated and his whole
body went numb.
The lightning had struck him, more specifically his phone, but the current travelled onto him.
His body shook and spazzed as the jolt of electricity shot through out his body.
He saw sparks fly from his phone and then a massive blue light, just before his eyes shut.
Twilight Sparkle began her day like any other day, get up, wake Spike up, have some breakfast
then begin her studies.
She yawned and stretched in her bed as her eyes opened, she raised a hoof up and rubbed her eyes.
"G-Good morning Spike.."
She while yawning.
The only response she received was a muffled groan from the small green and purple dragon, lying
in his bed on the floor.
Twilight only glared at him very unamused, she then decided to give him a few more minutes and headed into the bathroom.
Her horn began to glow and then her manebrush began to glow with it.
Using her magic she lifted her manebrush up to her tossed mane and began brushing, Strand by strand, brush by brush, her mane returned to its common look.
Twilight headed downstairs and walked into her Kitchen, she prepared to make some pancakes for herself and Spike.
As she began to make the mix there was a knock on her door.
"Who would be calling around this early?"
She mumbled under breath, still feeling a bit tired.
She approached the door and opened it, infront of her was an orange pony with a blonde mane tied in a ponytail.
She wore a western style hat and had three apples on her flank, she shaking slightly and was quite pale.
"Applejack, what are you doing here so early? The sun is only barely up."
Twilight said, surprised to see her friend standing there.
"Ah' know and and Ah'm real sorry, but something happened at the farm, ah need your help, if ya' don't mind sugarcube."
"Well, okay, come in Applejack, I was just about to have some breakfast. Do you want some?"
"Ah would rather not, ah just don't seem to have my appetite."
Applejack stepped into the library and closed the wooden door behind her. Twilight led her into the kitchen, Applejackat down as Twilight began to make breakfast again.
"So, what happened Applejack?"
She said as she poured flour into a bowl.
"Well, ih's Big Macintosh."
"Don't tell me he injured himself again, did he?"
"Nah', it's nothing like that."
Upon hearing this Twilight let out a sigh of relief. She then turned her stove up and put the mix into a pan, then placedit on it.
"So what is it then Applejack?"
"Well, ta' tell ya' the truth, for the life of me, I don't know. The other day when Granny Smith and Ah' finished packing
away the water barrels, Big Mac was still out in the orchard. He said he'd be inside in bout' twenty minutes. Then
we went ta' bed."
By now Twilight had sat down to listen to her friends story, she was curious and filled with worry.
"Applebloom came rushin'into mah' room late in the night, screamin' and yellin' bout somethin'. She then told me
to look out the window, when I looked out, there were Royal Guards all over ta' place. But they were wearin'
some weird kinda clothin' Ah aint never seen b'fore."
At this point the mix that Twilight had put into the pan was burnt, she had forgotten about it, intrigued by her friend’s
curious story. If it were not for the smell of smoke she would have completely forgotten about it.
"Just give me one second Applejack."
She stood up and turned the stove off and sat down again.
"Okay, sorry about that."
Normally Twilight would have complained about the mess that was just created, or how she hates burning food, but it was almost
instantly went out of her mind as she was too busy focusing on Applejack's story.
"Ts'all right. Anyway, Ah rushed outside but was grabbed by two of em' uniform fellas'. They brought me back inside
and sat me down. They started sayin' don't tell anypony bout' em bein' there. Ah was too scared ta' say anythin'.
They told me ta' head to bed, so Ah' did and stayed there til' morn. Ah could not sleep a wink, so when mornin'
came round I got up and rushed to Big Mac's room, he was not there. Ah' figured maybe he went out to orchard early
again, so Ah' went out to look."
"Did you find him Applejack?"
Twilight asked hastily.
Spike was standing at the top of the stairs listening in to the story. He only managed to hear a few lines and could not make
out the rest so he decided to go down and see if they would let him join in the conversation.
He stepped down and into the kitchen.
"Well, sugarcube n--"
Applejack was about to reply until Spike had interrupted.
"Morning Twilight, Morning Applejack! What are you doing here?"
"Spike, I need you to go upstairs and stay there for a few minutes."
Twilight said, not wanting the baby dragon to hear anything unpleasant if it arose.
"But, Twilight, I--"
"No buts Spike, go upstairs now!"
He turned mumbling something and walked upstairs feeling annoyed and angry, he mostly wanted some breakfast but the story
must have been interesting if they wanted him gone. He felt it was best not to try and listen because he knew Twilight might
hide his gems again like she does whenever she punishes him.
"I apologise for Spike, Applejack."
Twilight said wanting to hear more of the story.
Applejack nodded and began again.
"Where was Ah? Oh,yeah. No, Ah' did not find Big Mac. Granny and Ah were so scared, we figured that those
fellars' in ta' uniforms took him. We stayed at home all day, incase Big Mac came back."
"So, did he?!"
Twilight said now worrying more than ever for the safety of her friend, she was still curious about why Royal Guard
were at the farm too.
"Yesterday, he arrived home. He was shakin' and he was pale. His eyes were red and he would not say a word.
We ran up and hugged him but he jus' stood there. Not even acknowledgin' us. Right now Granny and Applebloom
are takin' care of him, but he jus' wont speak. He was scared stiff."
"That is terrible, Applejack. Listen I will quickly grab my book on Equestrian Guards. Maybe it can explain
who those guards were and what they were doing."
Twilight replied jumping from her chair and rushing into the room with books crammed on every shelf.
She ran in and grabbed a book labelled, "Guards of Equestria, Roles and purposes."
Using her magic she picked up a saddle bag near by and strapped it onto her back before placing the book in it.
She trotted to the kitchen.
"Shall we get going Applejack?"
She said awaiting for a reply.
Applejack nodded and stood up.
"Spike, there is an emergency I have to go out, I am sure you can make yourself some breakfast!"
Twilight shouted upstairs to the baby dragon, after hearing he must make his own breakfast he groaned. He was about to
shout down to Twilight but before he knew it, the sound of the door shutting reverberated into his ear drums.
He sighed and stepped down into the kitchen.
"I can't make breakfast, Twilight used the last of the mix."
He said letting another large sigh.
"Just my luck..."
