Foot to hoof
Shaking
Previous ChapterNext ChapterJust as a quick note to all my readers, thank you for the great response! This is my 2nd fanfic and people are being so nice. Unfortunatly school started up this week, so expect chapters to be out a bit later than before, maybe 3-6 days. I will try my best to get them out as fast as I can but I want to keep the quality in it. Thank you for reading everypony!
A deafening creek of an old wooden door with rusty hinges was the only sound to fill the room.
The door opened wider, revealing Twilight Sparkle and Applejack, standing beside each other. Twilight was trying to hide her worry but was not doing a very good job.
Her actions were swift but slightly careless and her eyes had a look of uneasy in them.
No conversation was exchanged as they stepped into the farm house, the floors were made from wooden planks, all of them seemed quite old. Near the entrance there was a small orange rug covered in dirt and soil, it had a slight tear in the side, it was clear that constant abuse from the hooves clashing against it as ponies tried to scrap the dirt off themselves had taken its toll.
Applejack let out a small sigh and stepped behind the door, waiting for Twilight to come in. Twilight trotted in, the same worried yet curious look spread across her face.
Applejack hinted towards the doorway which led into the kitchen, Twilight could hear sounds of hooves banging off wood, this sound seem to happen in a rhythmic pattern.
Both, the earth-pony and the unicorn remained quiet as they stepped into the kitchen.
The kitchen was of a decent size, with counter-tops that ran all the way around it. It had a homey-country feel to it, precious decorated plates hung on the wall, along with a few paintings, mostly of animals out in fields. There was an aroma of freshly cooked bread. On one of the counter-tops lay a bread pan, the steam still rising off it. A green fragile looking pony with a white diluted mane stood over it.
"Granny, Twilight isa' here."
Applejack spoke in a firm tone.
Twilight's eyes were still trailing around the room, until they spotted something.
In the far corner as a red stallion. His hoof was tapping against the wood on the chair in which he was sitting upon.
He did this monotonously every few seconds. Twilight analysed him for a few moments before turning to Applejack.
"May I?"
Asked Twilight.
"Go ahead, sugarcube. Jus' be careful, we still dunno' how much he changed."
Twilight nodded and trotted over to the red stallion.
"Big Macintosh?"
Twilight said in a soft, soothing voice.
Applejack's brother darted his eyes towards Twilight, his pupils were tiny and his eyes were shaking slightly, along with the rest of his body.
"Big Macintosh, I am here to help, is that okay?"
Twilight still kept her calming voice while speaking to him.
Big Macintosh resumed tapping the wood every few seconds as if Twilight was not there. Only his eyes showed that he knew she was there, the rest of his body remained unchanged since she arrived.
Twilight was starting to become a bit annoyed with the lack of response. Not many things annoyed her but being ignored was something that seriously frustrated her.
Using her magic, she undone the buckle on her saddlebag then levitated out the book she brought from the library.
She sat on a wooden stool for about five minutes, scanning through the book. Granny Smith had returned to her now cold loaf of bread, she began slicing it slowly. Applejack on the other hand was watching Twilight closely, incase Big Macintosh did something unexpected. It was not something Applejack would normally have to worry about but right now he was very unpredictable, despite not making a single sudden movement since he returned home.
After a few more minutes of hoof tapping, bread slicing and page turning, Twilight turned the book to face Big Macintosh and held it close to him.
His eyes moved down and stared at the page. On the page was the same kind of pony that Applejack had described.
Instantly, Big Macintosh's eyes widen as he tried to speak. Applejack jumped from the chair and stood next to Twilight.
Big Mac's hoof had stopped tapping the wood as he eye-balled the page.
"T-Them.."
He spoke quietly with his voice trembling.
"Who?"
Twilight said, trying to sound like Fluttershy, being almost unheard.
"T-Tha' ones....Them!"
By now, Big Macintosh had began rubbing his head with one hoof, still staring at the page.
"Big Macintosh...Who are they?"
"They're ta' ones....t-t-them...t-they..t-t-t"
Big Macintosh continued rambling, completely oblivious to the fact his own eyelids began drooping down slowly, eventually covering both his eyes as his head gently leaned to one side.
"Twi', w-what do ya' think just happened?"
Applejack said with confusion hinting in her voice.
"I have no idea Applejack, but I do know these Guards must have been the ones who did this to him."
"Well, atleast he is catchin' some shut eye."
Twilight was about to speak until the sound of trumpets and horns, rung in her ear.
Twilight suddenly began to be overcome with fear, many thoughts ran through her mind.
'Did the Princess Schedule a visit, if so how did I forget?! What if it is not the Princess, but instead those Guards, Oh no, what if they did the same thing to the Princess!?'
By now Applejack had left the room and opened the front door, Twilight still in a state of panic trying to work out her own mind.
"Twi! Princess Celestia is here! Maybe she can help!"
Applejack called out.
Twilight, upon hearing this dashed for the front door and quickly dropped on to her hooves. The Princess was standing right infront of her, Applejack was bowing and Royal Guards stood around her carriage.
"Twilight Sparkle."
The princess declared.
With this Twilight rose on the spot, looking into the eyes of Celestia. Celestia trapped her as her eyes shot at her.
She stared deep into Twilight's eyes before speaking.
"Twilight, I need you to come with me now."
Twilight, not wanting to ask knowing that the Princess always had a just cause for doing things, nodded.
She took a step out of the farm house before Applejack spoke up.
"Princess, may Ah' come along?"
Princess, stared at Applejack before answering.
"Of course you can. We still need to get the other elements of harmony."
Apple jack looked at the Princess then asked;
"What is going on anyway, Princess."
The Princess closed her eyes and shook her head, hinting towards the carriage.
Applejack exhaled, and began her slow walk to the carriage.
She could sense, whatever it was, was big.
Getting into the carriage behind Twilight she sat. The Princess then got in and sat infront of them.
"Now, we need to get the others..."
One more small note. I know this chapter is not as exciting as others, but I needed some filler to get things moving between Celestia and the story. The next chapter will be alot more exciting I promise. Thank you for reading and comments are welcomed! ^^
