Chapters Spike's Hearts and Hooves Week
Spike was silently making his way towards the Carousel Boutique. The home of the mare he loved, the mare he cared for, the mare he was finally asking out. He had stopped by Rose's flower stand to buy the healthiest tulips she had. She had asked him what the occasion was, he simply said that he was visiting the Carousel Boutique later that day. When he said this, however, she visible paled. Spike just shook it off as a sudden realization at what day it was. Oh, how he was wrong.
As Spike stood before the door with his claw raised ready to knock, he heard a gasp from inside. He was about to charge in, thinking Rarity was in danger, when he heard voices coming from inside. He could clearly make out Rarity's voice, but couldn't make out the second voice. As far as he could tell, it was some stallion.
“Oh, yes. Yes, yes, yes!” Rarity shouted, the happiness showing in her voice.
Spike could not help but wonder what Rarity was so ecstatic about. He was about to enter when he received his answer. Much to his displeasure.
“I’m so glad you said yes, Rarity. You have made this stallion very happy for being his bride.” The mysterious stallion said.
When Spike heard that, he froze. He did not want to believe what he was hearing. Whoever this stallion was, he just proposed to Rarity and she had said yes.
“I could not think of anypony else to spend my Hearts and Hooves Day with, Fancypants.”
Spike gasped loud enough for the current occupants of the building to stop their conversation. When he realized this, he made his way around to the other side of the building and hid amongst the shrubbery. He could hear the voices again from the open window he was sitting beneath.
“Fancypants, did you hear that? It sounded like somepony was outside. Do you think that somepony could have been listening?” Rarity asked.
“I’m not sure, dear. But whoever they were, I hope that the news doesn’t shock them too much. I would hate to have some poor stallion’s dreams crushed about you. I would especially hate myself if I had that poor dragon’s dreams crushed. You do know that he’s had a crush on you for the longest time, right?”
“Yes, I have. I have to admit, Spike is a charming gentledrake. And I really don’t think that he would have been the one outside. But if he was, I want to know if he’s alright. Could you go check outside for me? I simply must start designing my wedding dress and your suit. But before I do that, I must inform the girls. I just know that they will be so happy for me. I hope Spike can understand my situation. After all, we have been dating for the past few months, it would’ve been a matter of time before you popped the question.”
Spike didn’t dare move a muscle. Just in case the underbrush would make his presence known to the lucky couple inside. He could slowly hear the door opening and closing. Shortly after that, he heard some hoof steps closing in on his hiding spot. He didn’t try to move away. He knew it was no use, they would have found out that it was him outside the boutique that day. He heard a soft gasp from who he assumed was Fancypants.
“I-i’m so sorry, Spike. Are you alright?” He asked.
Spike sighed. “Does it look like i’m alright? I was just about to ask the mare of my dreams out, when I find out that she is engaged. Then I find out that she’s been dating secretly for the past few months. Other than that, i’m peachy.” Spike said not looking up at Fancypants.
“Look, Spike. I’m sorry you had to hear that. I didn’t think she would have kept us dating, a secret from her friends. But i’m sure she had a good reason for it. She probably didn’t want to break your heart. She had actually told me one time, that you confessed your feeling towards her. During that one time that you went on a rampage and destroyed half of Ponyville.” Fancypants said moving closet to Spike. He could see the mistake he made when Spike visibly flinched away from him.
“Fancypants, can I ask a favor of you?” Spike asked.
“Uh, sure, Spike. What do you want?”
“I want you to tell Rarity that it was just some stallion that was listening. I don’t want her to know that it was me. If she did, it would probably make her cry, I don’t to be the reason that she cries. Could you do that for me?”
“Sure, Spike. I’ll do that for you. Do you want me to give her that bouquet of flowers?”
Spike sighed heavily and started to get up. “No, I think if you did, she would’ve known who it was. But thanks for the offer. I’m just going to go to the park to think things over.”
“Okay, again, i’m very sorry that it couldn’t work out between you two. If there’s any-”
“Fancypants, I doubt that there is anything you could do for me. Even if there was, I would decline. But thanks for the offer. See ya, I guess.” Spike said moving slowly towards the park. When he got to the middle of the street, he spread his wings and took flight. Fancypants sighed and went back into the boutique. When he entered he was shocked to see Rarity crying next to the open window. The open window that Spike and him had just had their conversation near.
“Rarity, you didn’t know.”
Rarity looked up at him. “I should have known. I just though that it was just a silly childhood crush, nothing more. I didn’t actually think he would go this far.”
“What do you mean ‘go this far’?”
“The bouquet of flowers he was holding, signifies love, it’s given to mares when somepony wants to be their special somepony.”
“You mean, he was going to propose to you? He just told me he was going to ask you out.”
“No, he wasn’t going to propose. He probably would have eventually, though. I just hate to see him like this. I do hope that he’s alright.” Rarity said sighing. “Now, I must tell the girls of my good news. I must also tell them about Spike.” She got up and walked over to a small desk with a quill and scroll on it.
Spike's Hearts and Hooves Week
Spike was soaring through the air heading towards the park. Tears were streaming down his face. He didn’t want to talk to anypony right now. He just wanted to be left alone to cry by himself. Unbeknownst to him, a cyan mare was silently following behind him. Making sure to keep her distance from the depressed dragon. As soon as Spike touched down at the park, he made his way towards his favorite spot: the lake.
“Why does this have to happen to me?” He asked himself. When he heard an answer that didn’t come from him, he jumped.
“Why does what have to happen to you, Spike?” A familiar voice spoke from behind him.
Spike sighed. “Rainbow Dash, I just want to be left alone right now. But knowing you, that won’t happen anytime soon, will it?”
“Nope, probably not. So, tell me what happened, Spike. I know this mushy stuff isn’t me, but, nopony deserves to be crying on Hearts and Hooves Day.”
“Well, I went over to Rarity’s to ask her out today. And-” Before Spike could finish his story, Rainbow Dash interrupted him.
“Oh, I see. She rejected you, didn’t she?” Rainbow Dash asked.
“No, she didn’t. Something worse than that happened.”
“What could be worse than getting rejected by the mare of your dreams? I mean, c’mon! You’ve had a crush on her since you moved here a couple of years back.”
“You want to know what’s worse than being rejected?” Spike said sharply. “How about finding out that the one you love, is getting married! How do you think that feels?! She didn’t even know I was there.” He suddenly got a glossy look in his eyes. Rainbow Dash just gaped at him.
After she suddenly gathered her thoughts she apologized to Spike. “Spike, I-I didn’t know. I’m sorry, even though I don’t know what that feels like, I still feel sorry for you. I shouldn’t have asked.”
“It’s fine, Rainbow Dash. I needed to get it off of my chest. I’m sorry I snapped at you.”
“It’s no problem. I would have done the same thing in your situation.”
“You would’ve asked Rarity out? I didn’t know you were a fillyfooler, Rainbow Dash.” Spike gasped.
Rainbow Dash’s eyes widened and she started stuttering. “N-no! It’s nothing like- I can’t believe- I didn’t- Why would you think?”
Spike started laughing and clutching his stomach. “I was joking, Rainbow Dash.” He managed to get in between laughs.
Rainbow Dash blushed heavily. “Heh, good one, Spike.” She said. “So, what did you plan to do if Rarity rejected you?” She asked.
“Oh, I had a plan B. It would’ve been awesome. More awesome than a Sonic Rainboom.” He
said grinning.
“What? Nothing is more awesome than a Sonic Rainboom. Let’s see what you mean. Wait, i’ll go get my camera to record you failing epically.” She said before zooming off and coming back a few seconds later with a video camera. “Ready, Spike?”
“Yep, you might want to step a few feet back, though.”
“Why? I don’t see anything dangerous about this stunt .”
“Well, let’s just say that we don’t want that pretty mane of yours getting singed off.” Spike said, grinning when Rainbow Dash blushed heavily. “Besides, we both have different definitions of ‘dangerous’.” Spike watched Rainbow Dash move back a few feet before zooming upwards. Phase one was in progress.
Rainbow Dash watched Spike fly higher and higher in the air. About halfway to the height you would need to perform a Sonic Rainboom, he stopped and looked down.
‘What are you doing, Spike?’ She thought to herself.
Spike then continued to climb higher and higher. He didn’t even stop when he reached Sonic Rainboom height. Soon after, he disappeared from Rainbow’s line of vision completely. She almost shut off the camera but stopped when she heard a loud roar. When she looked up, she couldn’t believe her eyes. Spike was diving headfirst towards the ground. Soon enough, a cone formed around him. He then shot out a breath of fire and right as he dived through it, it happened. Spike had just broke the sound barrier and forced the ball of fire into a ring. After that a burst of rainbow appeared right underneath that one. Once Spike had landed, he made his way over towards Rainbow Dash, who’s mouth hung open in awe.
“T-that. Was. Awesome.” Was all she could say.
“Hey, Rainbow Dash. You okay?” Spike asked.
When Rainbow Dash looked towards him, her heart fluttered for a moment. Spike’s muscular body was covered in perspiration. “Y-yeah’ i’m fine.” She muttered, coming back to her senses. “I just have two questions. One: How did you do it?, and Two: What was it called?”
Spike smiled at her, making her blush slightly. “It wasn’t easy to perform that. I had to go way higher than an ordinary Sonic Rainboom to make it happen. Also, only dragon’s can do it. Well, I don’t know about other dragon’s yet. You see, I made that trick up.” Rainbow Dash turned and gaped at him. “I call it: The Ring of Fire.”
“This...this is going on the internet.” She said.
“Yeah, okay. But one thing: show to the girls first, I really want to see their reactions. Oh, and one more thing before I go..” Rainbow Dash turned to Spike. “The Rainboom afterwards wasn’t planned.” He grinned towards her. “See you tomorrow, Dash.” He left the park and walked towards the library. By the time he had gotten back to the library, Twilight and the others had heard the news about Rarity’s engagement. He attempted to convince them that he was alright, and that he and Rainbow Dash had a surprise for them. At the mention of Rainbow Dash, they all stared at him suspiciously. He just shrugged it off and went to bed, but not before reviewing the trick he performed early that day. That day hadn't turned out that bad after all.
Spike's Hearts and Hooves Week
Spike’s eyes fluttered open slowly. The memories of the day before came rushing back to him. He could clearly remember going to Rarity’s, learning of her engagement, the park, and finally the trick he had shown Rainbow Dash. He didn’t want to admit it to himself, but he thought Rainbow Dash looked quite attractive in the park. The wind blowing through her mane, the sun shining at just the right angle, her cyan fur glistening with perspiration, and her magenta eyes staring seductively- Spike shook his head, trying to clear the thought from his mind. She was just a friend nothing more, right? However, Spike didn’t have anymore time to dwell on his current thoughts before being called down by Twilight for breakfast.
“Spike, breakfast!” She yelled.
Spike climbed out of his bed and made his way downstairs. He then made his way across the ground floor and to the dining room table, where a basket of gems was waiting for him. He stared at the gems suspiciously, Twilight only gave him gems for breakfast when it was a special occasion.
“Hey, Twilight. What’s with the gems? I though I was only allowed to have them on special occasions.”
“Oh, no reason. I just thought you might need something to cheer you up after yesterday.”
“Nah, I didn’t need anything to cheer me up today. I just can’t wait to see your reactions when I show you my big surprise.”
“Oh, about that. Somehow everypony in Ponyville heard that you had a surprise for us and are coming over to see it. I hope you don’t mind.” Twilight said.
“I don’t mind. I think I know who spread the news though. I mean, she’s the only one who could have done it that fast, other than Rainbow Dash that is.” Spike finished, chuckling to himself.
Twilight came over to the table and sat down, as Spike picked up the first of his gems and began to eat. “So, Spike. When do you want to shoe everypony this ‘surprise’? It sounds weird. It’t like you to have surprises, unless it’s a prank. It’s not a prank, is it?”
“No, it isn’t a prank. Rainbow Dash even recorded the entire thing. I was going to show you the video, but then I realized it would be easier to believe if I just performed it again.”
“Was that who’s video camera I saw you heading off to bed with?” Twilight asked.
“Yeah, it was. Why do you ask, Twilight?”
“Well, the only way that Rainbow Dash would every let somepony borrow her video camera, is if something big happened. I also heard that she’s been having the Wonderbolt’s over at her house for parties. I think yesterday was one of her parties. Do you think that she would have told them?” She asked.
Spike’s eyes widened as he realized what Twilight was implying. “Uh, Twilight? I’m gonna go check on Rainbow Dash. Oh, and head towards the park after lunch, okay. Make sure everypony else knows where to go. Bye, Twilight!” He shouted before closing the door and flying towards Rainbow Dash’s cloud mansion.
Rainbow Dash was getting out of the shower when her doorbell rang. “Coming!” She yelled towards her front door. She stepped back into her bathroom to look for a towel, when she noticed that there wasn’t one in there, she headed out towards the living room. The doorbell rang again, Rainbow Dash started to get frustrated.
“I said, coming!” She yelled. When she got to her living room she spotted a clean towel on top of the kitchen counter. She started to walk over to the towel when she heard the front door opening. “Ugh, whoever you are, couldn’t you have at least waited until I dried my mane off? I literally just got out of the shower.” She stated turning around without drying herself off. Her cheeks flushed red when she saw who was standing there. “Spike?!”
Spike was slowly flying towards Rainbow Dash’s house, he hoped that he wasn’t to late. He was positive that she would have told Spitfire, Soarin’, and Fleetfoot about what he did. He sighed to himself.
“What am I going to do about that mare?”
Soon enough her cloud home came into view, it was a welcoming sight for Spike, he always liked visiting her cloud ‘kingdom’, well, that’s what he liked to call it. Once Rainbow Dash had started to tease him about his crush on Rarity, he started teasing her saying that in her cloud ‘kingdom’ she was the princess. That was a horrible idea, it ticked her off alot. It mad her so mad, that she threw him out of her house, he also was shunned by her for nearly an entire week. He literally had to buy her Wonderbolt tickets for the next month. It took alot of work, but somehow he managed. That was about the time he started his work on ‘The Ring of Fire’.
Spike was slowly, but surely, closing in on Rainbow Dash’s house. As he landed on her front door, he knocked loudly. He could hear some shouting coming from inside, but couldn’t hear what she said. He waited a few minutes, then knocked again, this time louder. He heard a distinct ‘I said, come in!’ from inside. He slowly turned the doorknob and pushed the door forwards. Once he stepped into her house, he froze from the sight in front of him. Rainbow Dash was standing there with her back turned to him and she was wet from head to hoof.
‘Don’t look any lower than her back, don’t look any lower than her back.’ He thought to himself. When eyes started to drift towards he flank, he quickly looked away and shut his eyes. When he opened them again he saw her starting to turn around. She also stopped dead in her tracks. Her eyes widened in shock. “Spike?!” She yelled.
The only thing he could think of was ‘I’m bucking screwed, she will totally kill me.’

Spike's Hearts and Hooves Week
“Rainbow Dash, I am so sorry!” Spike yelled covering his eyes with his claws. A blush was spreading across his face slowly. “I didn’t see anything, I swear.” The next thing he knew was Rainbow Dash yelling, ‘Get out!’, in his face. He stumbled towards the doorway and onto her balcony. Once the door slammed shut behind him, he uncovered his eyes.
Spike sighed, “This did not go as planned. I should leave her a note. I hope she’s not too mad at me.” He got out a notebook, tore a piece of paper from it, and jotted down a quick note. The note said, ‘Rainbow Dash, meet me at the ravine--Spike’, it was a short note, but Spike didn’t want to stay there any longer. Just in case an angry mare bucked him off of her landing.
He slid the note through the mail slot and dived off, five meters off of the ground, he spread his wings and made his way to the ravine. It was a relatively short flight, if you knew the shortcuts. He silently thanked Rainbow Dash for teaching him the fastest route there.
Rainbow Dash was sitting in her living room thinking the recent events over, when she heard her mail slot opening and closing.
Huh, the mail isn’t supposed to get delivered until tomorrow. Must be a priority package. She thought to herself. She got up, finished drying herself off, and went to retrieve the mail. When she picked up the mail, she froze. The letter was from Spike, he wanted to meet her at the ravine.
He probably just wants to apologize more. Well, can’t keep him waiting. She thought to herself. Her stomach chose that time to argue.
“Well, I guess that he can wait until after lunch. He won’t mind.” She stated.
She made her way towards her fridge to fix herself a daisy sandwich. Unfortunately, all she had was some moldy lettuce. And that wouldn’t be good for her. After all, she had to keep up her appearances.
“Guess i’ll just have to stop by the market, make lunch, and then go see Spike. Tank! You’re in charge of watching the house!” She yelled up the stairs. A very faint noise could be heard in response. With that, Rainbow Dash flew out of her window, heading for the Ponyville Market.
The Ponyville market was crowded with street vendors, customers, and the occasional beggar. Rainbow Dash didn’t mind this though, she was used to it. That’s what happens if you live in Ponyville as long as she has. She quickly made her way towards Apple Jack’s stall.
“Hey, Apple Jack!” She hollered.
“Well howdy, Rainbow Dash. What brings you here? Ah’ was sure ya’ll would be passed out from that party last night. It sure was loud enough for me t’hear.” Apple Jack said, grinning.
“Ugh, shut up, Apple Jack. I don’t want to hear it.” Rainbow Dash snorted.
“Well, somepony’s in a bad mood. What’s wrong, sugarcube?” Apple Jack asked.
Rainbow Dash sighed. “Promise not to tell anypony?” Apple Jack nodded. “Okay, I was taking a shower this morning after Soarin’, Spitfire, and Fleetfoot left. As I was getting out to dry off, my doorbell rings. I tell them that i’m coming, but they didn’t hear me the first time. I walked out into my living room to get a clean towel, when the door opens and they step in.”
Apple Jack gasped. “So, they were able to see your...well, you know.” She said blushing.
“Yeah, but I don’t think that they actually saw anything. I’m actually glad for that.” Rainbow Dash chuckled.
Apple Jack coughed. “So?” She asked. Rainbow Dash just looked up at her confused. “Did you buck ‘em out of your house? And tell me who it was, I want a piece of ‘em.” She said, slamming her hooves on the dirt road.
“Well, you see...i-it was...S-Spike. He was the one who came over today. He wants to meet me at the ravine, probably to apologize, again.”
Apple Jack’s eyes widened in surprise. “H-he was the one who opened your door?” Rainbow Dash just nodded. “ So, when are you gonna meet him?”
Rainbow Dash looked up. “Why do you care?” She asked.
“Ah’ care, because he told everypony to head over to the park after lunch. And it’s almost after lunch. So you better hurry. For his sake and everypony else’s.” Apple Jack chuckled. “You better go now, Rainbow Dash. But not before you take a few apples, on the house.” She said tossing a few apples to the hovering pegasus.
“Thanks, Apple Jack. I’ll head over there right now.” She said as she zoomed of towards the ravine.
Spike sat on the edge of the ravine. He had been waiting there for a little over twenty minutes, and he was starting to get impatient. “Rainbow Dash, where are you?” He whispered to himself.
“Um, Spike? I’m over here.” She said.
Hearing her voice made Spike jump a little bit, nearly making fall off of the edge. “Dash, do not do that to me. You know how far down this thing is? Like, one kajillion feet!” He scolded her.
“Spike, even I know that it’s not that high up. Now, what did you want me to come here for?” She asked, although, she already knew what the answer would be.
Spike’s cheeks reddened. He sighed heavily. “I just wanted to say that i’m sorry about earlier today. I didn’t mean to walk in on you, while you were still wet.” Noticing how that sounded, he quickly clamped both of his claws over his mouth. “He,he. That didn’t come out like it was supposed to.” He chuckled awkwardly.
Rainbow Dash coughed, catching his attention. “Look, Spike. It’s alright. Although, I swear I said that I was coming, and I know that I didn’t say come in.” She smiled at him knowingly.
His blush deepened. “Oh, how did you know?” He asked.
“I didn’t.” She stated. “Until now.” She smiled warmly at him. Her gaze shifted to his emerald eyes. She couldn’t resist staring at them.
Spike took notice of this and coughed loudly, breaking her attention away from his eyes. “Okay, just so this doesn’t get any more awkward, shall we head on over to the park?” He asked.
“Y-yeah, let’s go.” She said, her cheeks turning a deep shade of red. They both got up, and spread their wings. As they took off to the park, neither of them noticed the shadowy figure silently studying the cyan mare. Neither did they notice the sniper rifle he had, which was equipped with armor piercing bullets. He smiled to himself, he knew where his target would be for a short period of time. He just needed to get into position and take her out.
Spike's Hearts and Hooves Week
Spike and Rainbow Dash slowly made their way towards the park. As it entered their line of sight, they caught a short glimpse of all of the ponies that had gathered there. Spike was fairly surprised at how many ponies, Pinkie Pie had managed to gather in the small picnic area. All Spike could manage to say was ‘Woah’.
“Spike, I have to agree with you on this one, I didn’t know that there were this many ponies living in Ponyville, some of them must have come from Cloudsdale, or Canterlot.” She said, gazing upon the mass of ponies looking up at them expectantly.
“Uh, I guess I should go down there and explain everything to them. But first, Rainbow Dash?” Spike said, Rainbow Dash looked up at him. “Do you think that you could video tape their reactions?” Spike asked. But before Rainbow Dash could decline, he soared towards the ground while yelling ‘thanks!’. She sighed and shook her head.
“Well, looks like I have no choice.” She said. Of course you have a choice! You don’t have to do this, wait...you like him don’t you? Her inner self argued with her. Sadly, this was a problem she had faced since foalhood. She sighed to herself and made her way to the group of ponies.
“So, what you’re saying is that you’re surprise needs to take place in the air?” Spike nodded. Twilight continued, “And you don’t want anypony following you up there, correct?” Spike nodded once again. “Okay, but you better hurry up, Spike. We haven’t got all day.”
“Thanks, Twi. You won’t regret this.” Spike said flying a few feet into the air before turning his attention to the crowd below. “If I could have everypony’s attention!” He shouted. They all stopped their talking and looked up towards him. In the crowd he could spot his friends: Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom, Twilight, Fluttershy, Apple Jack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and finally, Rainbow Dash. “I will be attempting a new aerial trick. It has never before been used or practiced. This is the second time I have done this trick, the first time was yesterday, and the only pony who saw it was Rainbow Dash!” He shouted. His eyes scanned the crowd, desperately searching for a certain group of pegasi. He soon spotted them.
Spike cleared his throat and shouted again. “If I could have Spitfire, Soarin’, and Fleetfoot move to the front of the crowd, I would be very grateful.” Everypony’s eyes looked back at the three pegasi making their way towards Spike. Once they got to the front of the group, they stopped.
He turned his attention away from the crowd and focused on Rainbow Dash. “Hey! Dash!” She looked up at him. “Why don’t you come and join the Wonderbolt’s up here? I’m sure they don’t mind.” Rainbow Dash blushed and quickly made her way towards them.
“Hey, Spitfire, Soarin’, Fleetfoot.” She waved at them.
“Hey, Dash.” They all answered in unison. Which resulted in a very creepy sound effect. Rainbow Dash just smiled and turned towards Spike.
“I got the camera all set up, just tell me when you’re ready and i’ll start recording.” She said smiling.
“Well, i’m ready right now, so you can start recording now. But I suggest you keep it focused on these three right here..” He motioned towards the three famous pegasi. “ I just know that the looks on their face’s will be priceless.” He said right before launching himself into the sky.
As he made his way higher and higher into the air, everypony stared in awe. They were excited and scared at what the outcome of all of this would be. Whenever somepony flew this high into the sky, it usually never ended well. When they lost sight of their ‘host’, they started to disband. Thinking that it was some sort of prank. As they were going their separate ways, a loud roar could be heard over the shuffling of hooves.
Everypony froze and looked towards the sky. They all gasped in shock as they saw their dragon friend, nosediving towards the ground at incredible speeds. The Wonderbolts, thinking he was in danger, started to fly towards him, only to get stopped by a cyan mare.
“Uh uh. He’s fine just watch, and be amazed.” She said smiling. She motioned her hoof towards the falling dragon. A cone of pressure started to form around him, he then blew out a ball of fire and dove right through it. When he punctured the ball of fire, it expanded outwards, creating a huge ring of green fire. Everypony’s mouths were agape with amazement.
Spike skidded to a halt in front of the wonderbolts and his friends. “Wow, Spike that was amazing!” He heard ponies from inside the crowd begin to cheer. He turned towards his friends.
“So? How was that for a surprise?” He asked, smiling.
“Spike, where did you learn to do something like that?” Twilight asked.
“Oh, I taught it to myself. I got my inspiration from Rainbow Dash, she’s the one who did a Sonic Rainboom three times. But now, she isn’t the only one who knows how to do one.”
“What do you mean? I’m pretty sure Rainbow Dash is the only pony who can do one.”
“That you are correct, Twi. But, i’m not a pony, am I?” He said, their mouths just opened further.
“You mean that you did a Sonic Rainboom? You actually did a Sonic Rainboom?” Twilight asked. The Wonderbolts, who weren’t paying any attention to the conversation, finally snapped to their senses. They nodded at each other, and approached Spike.
“So, Spike? What was that awesome trick you did up there?” Spitfire asked.
“It was something I made up a while ago. Nothing big.” He said with a dismissive wave of his claw.
“It was nothing?! You have just told us that you created that trick up there? And you’re saying it’s nothing?” She asked. “Well, we have come to a conclusion, how would you like to be the captain of out first Wonderbolt’s interspecies team?”
Spike’s mouth dropped open. As did everypony else’s. “I can’t accept that offer.” He said. Spitfire’s mouth dropped open.
“Why not?” She asked.
“That’s Rainbow Dash’s dream, not mine. I don’t think that it would be fair if I got accepted into the Wonderbolts, and she didn’t. Besides, I really don’t want to leave Ponyville.” He said.
“I guess I can understand that.” She said. “But if you change your mind, just remember, the offer still stands.”
“Yeah, thanks, Spitfire.” Spike said.
“No problem, but since you didn’t accept our offer, the least we could do is give you two V.I.P tickets to our next show.”
“Thanks, Spitfire. I really appreciate it.” Spike said waving at them as they flew off. Spike felt a tap on his shoulder. When he turned around, Rainbow Dash was there staring sheepishly at the ground.
“What’s up, Rainbow Dash?” Spike asked.
“Well, I just wanted to say, thanks.”
“For what? I’m pretty sure I didn’t do anything right.”
“I want to say thanks for declining the Wonderbolts offer. Although, that was pretty dumb. Everypony knows that it’s just a matter of time before they ask me to join. And when they do,” Rainbow Dash suddenly frowned.
“Uh, Rainbow Dash? Are you ok? You look sick.” Spike asked.
“No, i’m not ok. When they do ask me to join them, i’ll have to leave Ponyville, i’ll my friends, i’ll have to leave you.” Rainbow Dash froze and quickly fixed her mistake. “You guys, yeah, you guys. Who would want to move away from you guys.” She said starting to sweat.
Apple Jack walked up to her and whispered in her ear. “Nice save. Didn’t think you would have a crush on him after what happened this morning.”
Rainbow Dash’s cheeks flushed red. She turned towards Apple Jack. “I do not have a crush on him. It was a simple slip-up, nothing else!” She said sharply.
“Yo! Equestria to Rainbow Dash? Are you coming?” Spike said.
“Huh? Oh, sorry, Spike. What did you say?” She asked.
Spike sighed. “I just asked you if you wanted to go over to Sugarcube Corner with me?”
“Uh, sure. Just one sec.” She turned towards Apple Jack and said, “I’m watching you...” The way she said it made Pinkie’s tail twitch. Apple Jack started to move forward, only to be stopped by the same pink earth pony.
“Don’t, Apple Jack! Somepony’s about to get hurt. My pinkie sense just went off. Just like the time that Dashie was showing us some new tricks and she went swoosh! Zoom! Mmph! Hmph!” Pinkie was shut up by a marshmallow white hoof.
“Pinkie, dear. Would you please be quiet?” Rarity asked.
The pink earth pony nodded. The hoof was then removed from her mouth. “What is it, Rarity?” She asked.
“I think Spike and Rainbow Dash just left for Sugarcube corner. Don’t you think you should attend to your customers?” Rarity asked. The next thing that Rarity knew, she was spinning around in circles with a thick cloud of dust settling around her. Her once pristine white coat was now covered in dirt. “Oh, dear. This is going to take forever to get out.” She complained as she galloped off towards her boutique.
