Goku's Strangest Adventure
Chapter 8
Previous ChapterLater that night, after everyone else had gone to bed, Goku was patrolling the streets, keeping an eye out for troublemakers while not looking at the moon. His Grandpa, before he died, always warned Goku against being out during full moon nights, saying a monster comes out under its light, but he figured no such monster exists in this world. Little did he know how wrong he was.
In another part of the town, Snips and Snails were making their way to Everfree after speaking with Spike. The young drake hadn't believed Trixie's tales, and had basically told the two colts that unless they saw Trixie take out an Ursa Major, they should take her claims with a grain of salt. It was with those words in mind that the boys entered the forest in search of an Ursa.
Meanwhile, in the Golden Oaks Library, Twilight was researching Ursa Majors in an attempt to prove or refute Trixie's story. So far, she had found several accounts of Ursa Minor attacks that had been repelled with great magical strength, but every mention of an Ursa Major attack had ended up either one of two ways: The town was evacuated and rebuilt later, or the Ursa was killed after massive collateral damage, leading Twilight to the conclusion that if Trixie did drive off an Ursa, it had been an Ursa Minor that she mistook for a Major. Nodding to herself as she took notes, she ultimately decided not to pursue Trixie on the matter. After all, driving off an Ursa Major makes for a better story than driving off an Ursa Minor.
Back with the idiot duo, they were running from a cave as a roar sounded behind them, a huge translucent bear with star markings on its pelt, the Ursa Minor constellation on its flank, emerging from the cave to chase after the ponies who dared wake it.
The two colts headed straight for Trixie's wagon and started banging on her door, the racket startling her awake as several of her fireworks went off, causing the wagon to bounce around from the explosions before smoke poured out of the windows. The blue mare opened her door, coughing and gagging as she tried to clear her lungs of all the smoke before glaring. "And what do you two want?!"
Snails glanced quickly in the direction of the forest before speaking. "We have a MAJOR problem!"
Snips nodded. "An Ursa Major to be precise!"
Trixie glared at the two before a roar sounded, the blue star bear emerging from the trees as Trixie glanced over, fear appearing in her eyes for a moment before they got steely. "Okay, three things. One, that's not an Ursa Major. That's an Ursa Minor! Two, because that's an Ursa Minor, that means there is an Ursa Major somewhere close by. Three, I want you to get the word out to the ponies of this town to evacuate!"
Snips and Snails give a salute before galloping to the Mayor's house as Goku comes up. "Is that a giant star bear?"
Trixie shakes her head. "Not exactly. That's a star bear cub. It might just be cranky, so we should be able to calm it down and send it back to mommy before she wakes up."
Goku nods and he gets serious, his tail twitching as he itches for a fight. He was glad he remembered to wear his extra-tough gi Rarity made for him as he prepared himself, watching the cub approach the town from the forest. It was just unfortunate that the beast was coming from the same direction as the rising moon, as Goku couldn't help but to gaze at it, the moonlight filling his tail with Blutz Waves. Soon, Goku was paralyzed as his pupils turned red, his hair standing on end, as did the fur on his tail as he started growling.
This alerted Trixie that something was very wrong with Goku, as not long after, he gave a mighty roar, flexing as his muscles bulged and he gained a foot in height, the gi stretching. Soon, his eyes turned completely red, fur growing from his skin, his mouth and nose merging and sprouting into a muzzle and, with the sound of fabric tearing in multiple spots, he quickly burst out of his gi to grow into a fifty-foot giant ape with a mighty roar that caused the Ursa Minor to pause, sensing a threat greater than any of the ponies here.
Ponies had already started investigating when the Ursa roared, so seeing a giant ape as well was causing many of them to panic. Unbeknownst to everyone, Princess Celestia had been watching from her castle and had seen Goku transform. She turned to Raven with a stern look in her eyes. "Have the Royal Guard and the Wonderbolts on standby. If Twilight cannot quell these beasts, I may have to step in. And after this, have the young Goku's file updated. Change his species from human to Saiyan, and pray that young boy is the last of his kind."
Back in Ponyville, Goku and the Ursa Minor had gotten into a fight, each one struggling for dominance. While this was happening, Trixie was using her spell repertoire to keep the two contained as Twilight helped coordinate the evacuation. With Goku, while his gaze was clouded by his Saiyan instincts, he also had a desire to protect the town, allowing him just enough clarity of mind to focus his instincts on kicking the Ursa's ass.
In the Everfree forest, a great beast was stirring, sensing that something was very wrong. This beast was a much larger bear, with a deep purple pelt dotted with stars, a star burst like a supernova adorned its forehead while the constellation for the Ursa Major adorned its flank. It soon realized that its baby was nowhere to be found, and with a mighty roar, emerged from the cave to look for it.
Back with Goku, he was losing ground against the Ursa Minor, his inexperienced Saiyan instincts just not enough to turn the tides. While this was Happening, Rainbow, who had been watching the fight from the skies while waiting for an opening, flew to Twilight. "Twilight! That giant ape monster is Goku, right?! Then why isn't he using his fighting prowess to kick the Ursa's tail?!"
Twilight, turning to look at the struggle, rubbed her chin in thought. "Maybe Goku's transformation is similar to the various lycan species, in that while transformed, the beast's mind takes over. But there may be a way to get Goku's human mind back in control. I just hope it works before things get any worse."
As if to mock Twilight, a roar unrelated to the brawling giants sounded from the entrance of the forest, the enormous Ursa Major emerging from its depths to protect her son. The giant star bear soon came beside her child and pulled him away before smacking the ape Goku away, causing him to smash into a cottage in a cloud of dust and debris. As it settled, Goku sat up and shook his head, the instinctual haze having lessened from the blow enough for him to recognize his surroundings and, for the first time, take complete control of his giant ape form. Giving the mother beast a glare, he stood and shook his fur clean of dust before looking around as if just realizing the magnitude of his current form. Putting it aside for now, he focused on the two Ursas, noticing the mother checking the son for injuries and finding none. Gazing back at Goku, the Major seemed to give him a gesture of respect before guiding her son back to the forest to sleep.
Twilight watched on in amazement. "I can't believe it! Everypony believed the Ursas were nothing more than mindless beasts, but this puts that belief completely into question!" She continues watching the Ursas return to the forest even as Princesses Luna and Celestia arrive and land in front of the ponies.
Princess Celestia smiled before speaking. "You did very well in keeping the ponies safe from not only the Ursas, but Goku, as well." She then nodded to Luna, who used her magic to dim the moon enough that the Blutz Waves disappeared. This caused Goku to stiffen before he started reverting back, Celestia thinking fast and conjuring a new outfit on the young man as he shrunk, the outfit resizing to match his smaller, natural form as he collapsed. She then looked at Twilight once more. "Take your charge back to your home. We can talk more in the morning."
