Goku's Strangest Adventure
Chapter 7
Previous ChapterNext ChapterA few weeks have passed since Goku and his friends received the Gala tickets, and in that time, Applebuck Season came and went, with Applejack working herself to the point of fainting. As it was, she had to spend some time in Ponyville General Care because of exhaustion and malnourishment, meaning she had to miss Gilda's visit. She recovered quickly, though, and was soon back to caring for the farm, with Goku's help this time.
Goku smiled as he walked through the orchard, checking to make sure the trees were okay for winter when he noticed Applejack. Approaching, he frowned. "What's going on?" He asked.
Applejack shook her head. "Nothing. Just looking at a flier for a magic show coming to town. Should be interesting." She answered.
Goku nods. "Aren't magic shows where somepony boasts about their abilities in order to draw a crowd and then wows them with mystic stunts?" He asks, curious.
Applejack nods. "That's what I heard, though I've never seen one. They're more common in cities like Manehatten. It says that the show is later today, so we'll be able to see if this "Great and Powerful Trixie" is any good then." Applejack explained.
After they finished their work, the two made their way to the town square, where already a crowd was beginning to build. In the front, with them were Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie. Applejack looked at Rarity. "So, do you think this Trixie is any good?"
Rarity scoffed. "Please. I've heard of those Manehatten magic shows, and they've always been blowhards who boasted more than they showed. No doubt, this Trixie will be no different." The fashionista explained.
Eventually, all the ponies arrived and the caravan in front of them opened into a stage, blue curtains hiding the backstage from view. In a cloud of smoke, a blue pony with white hair appeared, her flank hidden by her star-studded cape, and wearing a wizard's hat. "Welcome one and all, to the magic show of the Great and Powerful Trixie! Watch as I bedazzle you with feats never before seen by pony eyes!" She stood up on her hand legs as she finished speaking, fireworks going off behind her.
As she showed some conjuration, Rarity rolled her eyes. "Just like those manehatten shows, boasting, but not delivering."
Twilight frowned. "I don't know, conjuration is difficult magic. Besides Princess Celestia, I only knew of one pony who could conjure, and she had trouble. For Trixie to do so with no effort is pretty good."
After a few more obscure tricks, Trixie smiled. "Now, I know you didn't just come to see me perform tricks like those. So it's time to get to the main event. I'll need somepony from the audience to come up."
After several audience participation tricks, Trixie looked out at the ponies. "You've been a wonderful audience. I dare say I haven't had this much fun since the Ursa Major that attacked Hoofington." She used her magic to create an illusion of the beast. "There I was, all alone, staring down the great beast. It took most of my magic, but I was able to subdue it, and banish it into the Everfree Forest! Afterward, I was confined to bedrest for several days, but the ponies of Hoofington were very grateful for my assistance." She bowed in a florish. "Thank you again for your kindness, and I hope to see you again!" With that, she left the stage, the caravan returning to it's normal state.
After the cheers and praises from the audience were over, Spike was looking at Twilight. "Do you really believe her about the Ursa Major?"
Twilight shrugs. "I don't know, but she's not your normal unicorn. All of those stunts take a lot of magic individually, and she did them all back to back. She has to be exhausted. Still, it's getting late, and it's a full moon tonight. We should get home before any of the beasts affected by the moon come out, like equiwolves*, or vamponies."
Goku frowned as he listened to their conversation. "I don't know if that story of hers is true, but I could feel her power, and even after all those spells, her power level didn't drop at all. It's like she's more than she seems. I guess we'll just have to see."
Author's Note
And that's the chapter. I skipped over Applebuck Season and Griffon the Brush Off because they happen as in canon, and I've decided to only show episodes that are significantly changed by Goku's appearance. I also didn't show Trixie's tricks because I've never been to a magic show, so I don't know what's involved.
*Equiwolf: A pony that transforms into a wolflike creature under the full moon. Comes from equine and wolf.
