Chapters The incident of the concert
Dr Jekyll yawned one morning, clearly fatigued, he looked around his well-furnished room at the lovely red wallpaper, the fine silk cushions and pillows laid around him and the mahogany wood desk in front of him. The light grey Pegasus slammed his head back on his pillow disappointed. “Damn I’m still a snob.” The Pegasus looked around again and saw in front of him the clock which stated it was 11 o clock in the morning; on the mahogany wood desk was a small tray bearing eggs a daffodil sandwich and a glass of orange juice. Jekyll smiled at the kindness of his servant.
“Oh Poole….Half of this I don’t pay you to do.” He clambered out of bed trotting over to his tray smiling, he slowly put his mouth near his target and began devouring the eggs and quickly moved on to the sandwich. Almost as soon as he had, as if alarm bells had been going of the second he began eating a loud knock was heard on his door, a very northern accent was then heard (west country in England).
“Dr Jekyll sir. Good morning Dr Jekyll sir, just to remind you sir that you are scheduled to meet Mr Utterson at Canterlotian music festival this evening." Dr Jekyll swore under his breath.
“Right, fine…Wait Mr Utterson….He never usually goes to these things.”
“That’s what I thought Dr Jekyll sir…But he said it is because of some special appearance…..Miss Octavia will be there sir. However she is performing almost the entire concert.”
At the mention of Octavia Dr Jekyll nearly spat out the orange juice he had begun drinking, he carefully placed the glass down.
“Octavia did you say?”
“Yes Sir…Octavia sir.”
Dr Jekyll smiled and almost purred like a cat at the mere mention of her name.
“That’s great Poole...I will be down shortly.”
“Thank you sir Dr Jekyll sir.”
Dr Jekyll smiled and trotted to the side of the room, there was another door in which his bath room was, he carefully looked around at the space: The sink, the large silver path and the shower…..The doctor decided to go for the shower. The shower was a square with no curtains around it as the doctor always believed he would be alone in his room so he would not need one, water was poured out from the mouth of a lion that was on the wall of the bath room, on the bottom bit of the shower was a tiny wall about the height of a hoof so that water would not go everywhere, in the square was a small drain where the water would go. Dr Jekyll pressed the button on the front of the shower and soon the warm water was all over him and he started cleaning himself thoroughly as he pressed another button that stopped the water briefly and instead poured what was basically shampoo onto the stallion’s coat then the water began again. After his shower the Pegasus quickly grabbed one of the towels with his mouth and flung it over himself. He then carefully rolled on his back making sure it dried his coat and then he got himself back on his hoofs, now dry and opened the doors with his mouth, turning the door knob slowly and trotted down stairs to where Poole was waiting, in his mouth was a comb and under one of his hooves was a pile of neatly folded clothes. Poole then began to slowly comb the hair of the Pegasus. Dr Jekyll smiled at the obedient cream coloured earth pony. After about two minutes of combing the Earth pony put a top hat on Dr Jekyll and carefully secured his tuxedo shirt and coat on smiling.
“Handsome and smart as usual sir…What should I do while you’re gone sir?”
Dr Jekyll smiled and placed his hoof on the other pony.
“You may have a bottle of some of my finest wine, imported directly from the Canterlotian vineyards…you have been ever so kind to me Poole, even when I have demanded so much of you for how little I pay you. You deserve a reward.” Dr Jekyll slowly walked to the door opening it himself and preparing him to be viewed by the rest of society.
“Thank you sir, thank you very much sir.”
Dr Jekyll smiled back at him as he slowly descended into his usual character battle.
As usual the Doctor was constantly interrupted from almost everything he did while out it public. Even as he slowly walked to meet his friend Utterson constantly other ponies, some of them he barely knew tried to start a conversation with him.
“So what do you think about….Oh I say what we should do with….”
Honestly Jekyll wanted to scream that he didn’t give a single crap about these subjects, nor did he see why they were asking him what he thought, could they not think for themselves. Eventually after the 20th pony he politely asked them.
“Please could you….Leave me…I have an important appointment with a colleague of mine.”
The ponies surrounding him left him grudgingly looking very disappointed. However as soon as they left Jekyll felt a familiar hoof on his shoulder.
“Why hello there Jekyll how are you.”
“Ahh Gabriel Utterson! I should have known you would be around here.”
The snow white unicorn chuckled, bowing slightly.
“Well this is the on the way to the concert, however it is a little early is it not?”
Dr Jekyll smiled, his friend had not lost an ounce of his logic above everything attitude.
“Yes, however I wandered if we could get there early so that if the seats are not of our liking we can have them changed, also because I need to have a word with one of the performers….” At the mention of performer Utterson frowned.
“Please say you are not going after that Octavia again, even talking to her about things that could not be related to business would cause a considerable amount of noise in Canterlot, let alone if you were to…..engage in love let us say.”
Jekyll smiled and trotted towards to the large concert hall with his friend smiling.
“I know I know, but….one must have fun at least sometimes mustn’t they?”
Mr Utterson put on an almost permanent frown as they entered.
“It’s a slippery slope...It’s a slippery slope.”
Jekyll mind was now on the concert hall, they were in the reception where there were four doors in front of him, one was in the middle labelled the concert where a ticket pony was standing ready, next to it was another door saying the concert with another ticket pony standing guard, while the other two were labelled bar. One of the ticket ponies raised an eye brow at the two gentleponys.
“You two are awfully early, let me guess, are you here to check your seats are of the quality you paid for.”
The two nodded and went a little closer to him, preparing to be shown their seats, suddenly the ticket pony looked closely and Mr Utterson and chuckled.
“Mr Utterson, you haven’t been here for over 4 years! It’s great to see you again.”
Mr Utterson blushed slightly being a stallion of few words he nodded.
“Yes the feeling is mutual.”
The Ticket pony smiled again. “Also thanks for proving my sisters innocence, that theft trial was a real triumph for our family.”
Mr Utterson nodded again. “I am a lawyer; it is my job to serve the client.”
“Yes yes….Oh yes your seats...come with me.” The blue earth pony took the two into the main part of the concert hall, inside was a huge circle of seats surrounding a rather small stage, on it was a lone pony slowly but surely practicing her cello, a gift she had indulged since foal hood, she looked briefly from her work to see the newcomers to the theatre and blushed bright red as she saw the handsome figure of Dr Jekyll, almost dropping her bow. Dr Jekyll smiled back and gave her a little wink as he and his colleague trotted on. They were led to the very front of the stage where in front of their already luxurious comfy arm chairs of seats was a table and a small drinks stand containing everything from wine, spirits to even soft drinks and beer. As Utterson checked the seat area was all they had paid for Dr Jekyll grinned even more at the beautiful Octavia as she focused on her piece, it was getting almost too much for her, her face was going as red as a tomato and her hooves were getting almost to sweaty to hold the bow and hold down the strings. Octavia mouthed with the corner of her mouth.
“Not now Jekyll I’m practising…after the performance!”
Jekyll chuckled and obeyed her deciding to focus of the task at hand; they briefly thanked the ticket pony for his services and gave him a generous ten bits for his troubles. Jekyll gave Octavia one last cheeky wink before leaving with Utterson for the bar where they would stay till the beginning. After they left Octavia sighed with relief and placed her instrument down so she could get the sweat of her hooves.
After a long wait the concert was about to begin, Mr Utterson and Dr Jekyll casually entered and where watched by almost every pony who was already seated, who eagerly wanted to mimic what they were doing so they could become the most fashionable. As they walked down the aisle Jekyll looked up at his finance who was now surrounded by other ponies bearing other instruments, he gave her a little wink and she blushed again, Jekyll and his companion then took their place on their arm chairs, lying down comfortable. Shortly after taking their position the concert started.
The concert was one of the most beautiful things Dr Jekyll had ever witnessed, not just from the beautiful music and the range of it from sad to joyful but also how his love Octavia was the captain of the vessel. It was her that delivered those beautiful solos using her instrument and it was here who mesmerised the audience with her musical skill. However it was the ending that made it for Jekyll, it was a lovely piece of music that was sad yet joyful, and it was almost as if love had been lovingly changed into pure sound. Dr Jekyll almost wanted to stand up and dance to the tune but knew that he had to be proper, he had to be a gentle pony and it made his blood boil. At last the music stopped and Octavia slowly took her bow of the string and smiled, and suddenly the theatre erupted with applause as every pony their stamped hard on the ground, showing their absolute adoration of the music. Dr Jekyll then took a rose that he had been wearing on his tuxedo and carefully extracted it from the suit and threw it onto the stage right in front of the beautiful Octavia, she blushed once again and bowed gracefully leading to more applause, Dr Jekyll smiled while Utterson gave him a cautious look, warning him yet again of the consequences of being seen with a lowly musician.
At the end when everyone had left, including Utterson after much convincing it was only Octavia and Jekyll who were left; they both looked around to check if anyone else was they then Jekyll ran to the stage and hugged his marefriend lovingly.
“It has been far too long Amore……far too long.”
Octavia nuzzled her lover passionately.
“Yes yes it has…You have no idea how hard it is to see you now…I always seem to be in a queue of fifty other ponies.”
Dr Jekyll chuckled and grinned.
“And you are far more important than any of them.” As he nuzzled her again giving her a kiss.
It was after midnight by the time Octavia and Dr Jekyll had reached Octavia’s house.
“Well I’m glad we didn’t have to hulk that cello with us.” Jekyll said with a smile.
“Yes...We get to keep them at the concert hall now….Since I have got a contract there now.” As she carefully slid the key into the door of her small Canterlotian flat.
“So...I can see you a whole lot more.” She grinned and she gave her lover a loving lick on the muzzle.
Dr Jekyll was now grinning like a foal about to get sweets (candy).
“Amore…..did you…get the kit.” Octavia giggled as she flicked her lover’s nose as they went into the living room of her flat.
“For a supposed Gentlepony you are a very naughty boy…..Yes I do have the toys…And yes I would love to use them on you.”
Jekyll was now shaking with anticipation, his wings almost spreading out with excitement.
“Well….shall we begin?”
Octavia smiled as she slowly took off Jekyll’s hat and tuxedo.
“Yes…actually...you need to be punished as soon as possible.” She said with a little giggle.
The Matter of the meeting
Dr Jekyll awoke sharply from his sleep, he lifted his head quickly, trying to get a basic idea of where he was, it was dark but he could get the basic outline of the room, it was small with a small table scattered with what seemed to be papers, he felt something warm next to his body and he almost yelped, he looked next to him quickly and lying next to him was the beautiful Octavia, cuddling against him. He smiled kindly and slowly gave her a lick on her forehead. At this her eyes slowly opening unveiling her beautiful purple eyes, she smiled and yawned at him.
“Hello my love.” Said Jekyll giving her a nuzzle, she nuzzled back slowly.
“Hello honey, you are a lovely pillow.” Jekyll let out a little chuckle.
“Yes...I am….Octavia...what time is it.” Octavia raised her eye brow.
“I don’t know…” She put her hoof on the table next to her feeling for her lamp, she just managed to find it and pressed the button, as the room was flooded with light Octavia looked at the top of her bedroom door where a clock hung stating it was 11 o clock. Jekyll almost jumped out of bed.
“11 O clock! I’m going to be late for my meeting at the castle! Oh crap it’s the meeting about Education, the princess will be there!”
Octavia let out a chuckle as she licked her lover on his muzzle.
“Well you better get going….I shall try and make you a quick breakfast…though it won’t be anything to the standard Poole makes I’m sure.” Jekyll quickly got out of the bed descending down the stairs to go to the small bathroom.
“Try and flatter yourself Octavia….and put down that cello for once.” Octavia chuckled as she went downstairs as well and giggled as she saw Jekyll’s still red ass from last night’s role-play.
“I think the evidence I do put down that cello is pretty clear,” She remarked as they split paths, Jekyll going right to the bathroom and Octavia going left to the living room/kitchen. Jekyll quickly washed himself, not bothering to use shampoo and quickly dried himself, not bothering to take care with his coat; he then quickly threw his clothes on himself, donning his hat as if to disguise his mangled hair. Octavia quickly came out of the kitchen bearing a toasted daffodil sandwich which she placed carefully in Jekyll’s mouth as he left the house.
“Have fun Jekyll!” She called as she watched him gallop for the castle.
In the ball room of the castle, where once Twilight Sparkle had held a party was a large group of aristocratic ponies gathered around a large long table, on the table were large numbers of papers, occasionally being levitated by posh unicorns to take a look at the data, everyone was there, however there was a space between two ponies where Jekyll was supposed to be, one of the ponies who Jekyll was supposed to next to was tapping his hoof impatiently, clearly flustered, he muttered under his breath.
“What is this…Jekyll is never late….The only other time he was late was when he was with that bloody riff raff lady….If he doesn’t come in in a minute I am going to have serious words with that boy.”
Almost on cue Jekyll ran in, as everpony in the all immediately turned to look at him he blushed and began to walk slowly to his spot, everyone looked at his ragged appearance, the daffodil petals on his suit and most of all his glowing red ass. As he took his place slowly the pony next to him hissed.
“What the hell was that? I have heard of casually late but this is ridiculous!”
Jekyll hissed back at him. “Be quiet Grima I was busy alright…very busy with work!”
“Work my arse!” Suddenly a loud coughing was heard, it was coming from a very important looking unicorn in the middle.
“Are you quite finished?”
The two stopped talking. However the unicorn continued.
“It appears Dr Jekyll, according to his account was busy, it appears that he may have been busy causing trouble with his mother, it would explain his red arse.”
The rest of the ponies laughed at Jekyll while he blushed bright red eventually the pony in the middle stamped his hoof demanding silence.
“On a more serious note Celestia is unable to attend this meeting, trouble in Manhehatten has distracted her from her original purpose, and she has sent her most formal apologies and wishes us the best of luck as we shovel through this mound of paperwork. Shall we begin?” Everypony nodded.
Jekyll day dreamed as they discussed the education of Equestria, he started thinking about how he had landed himself in such a boring plot in life, he remembered getting his first PHD at about a teenage age due to his high marks in all of his exams, he remembered how proud his parents had been, he felt at the top of the world. Then he got his second PHD in law and he felt as high as a kite. With these PhDs and his superior intellect he became a well-established member of the inner circles of Canterlotian life, medicine, politics, education he had a hoof in every pie. However that’s where it got boring, after he had finally reached the top rank he could climb to life eventually a grind, almost like a play that had gone on too long, with Jekyll playing a pompous aristocrat who yearned something more. He was awoken from his day dreams by Grima who prodded him violently.
“Your normally on form Jekyll….You have been asked a question!” Jekyll shook his head quickly to get himself back into the real world.
“Sorry I was briefly out of it, please repeat it.” Sadly the question had come from the very important unicorn in the middle.
“I was asking what you think about the imbalance of school grades In Manhehatten compared to Ponyville but now I feel like asking why you are even here Dr Jekyll, you have contributed nothing to this meeting except prove that your so called attention to detail was washed away you distracted yourself with petty things like romancing with peasants!”
With this there was another round of laughter but Jekyll had had enough he quickly slammed his hoof on the table and stormed off sadly showing his spanked arse in the process as he stormed off. Grima quickly bowed, giving his excuses as he ran after the angry doctor. Jekyll paused in the main hall of the castle, he remembered shaking hoofs with Celestia and her prize student on these stairs at the grand galloping Gala, now he stood there growling to himself, thoroughly annoyed with the barbarity of his colleagues. Soon the grey earth pony trotted up to Jekyll, almost as if he actively seeked to make the Doctors life a misery.
“That is quite a stunt you pulled there Jekyll.”
“Grima…I am going to tell you this once and once only…piss off.”
Grima gasped taken back by his foul language and he then growled.
“So…it is true isn’t it? You had another trip to that pleb Octavia!”
Jekyll quickly turned to him; his eyes were almost glowing red from anger.
“She is not a pleb, she is the most beautiful and intelligent mare I have ever know and if weren’t for the utter snobbery of people like you I would of married her the moment I met her.”
Grima put on a very disgusted face, totally shocked by the idea that his tutee was planning to marry with a common musician but suddenly he grinned.
“But we all know what you do with her...don’t we Dr Jekyll….You play your little games with her…..and you leave with a bottom of a naughty foal…I am going to tell you now…If you are ever late for a meeting again, If I hear even a whisper of a rumour that you have met up with that pleb again, I will personally announce your activities to every paper in Equestria, you will be an outcast and I will rightfully take you place in the council to save your family from the shame of your sordid affairs, then you can marry a pleb…as a pleb. Do I make myself clear?”
Dr Jekyll could not believe the treachery of his family friend, his blood boiled in his veins and he even desired to slay Grima then and now, he closed his eyes, almost roaring with rage at the utter arrogance and sinister nature of Grima’s threat, but he slowly gritted his teeth and muttered admitting defeat.
“I understand.” Grima grinned knowing that now Jekyll was under his hoof.
“And I had always thought it was only Octavia who could make you heel like a dog.” He chuckled evilly as he slowly departed. “See you later Dr Jekyll.”
Jekyll stood there, his mind now fully corrupted with rage and anger. How dare this pompous arrogant aristocratic oaf prevent the brilliant Doctor Jekyll from seeing the love of his life? Jekyll was determined to see his Octavia…by any means necessary.
Dr Jekyll soon started to amass everything at his disposal, he cancelled all his meeting, ordered barrel loads of chemicals and had them all stockpiled in his room, he smiled a Poole as he gave him the spare key for emergencies as he locked the door of his bedroom where he would stay for the next three days. The Doctor scrolled through dozens of books and essays on theoretical science begging that somewhere he could find the answers to his problems, he found about a dozen theories out of almost a hundred books but now he had too many theories, none of which worked. He painstakingly carried out each experiment; the closest he ever got was a change in eye brow colour, Poole every time he heard a bang held the emergency key tightly in his hoof, prepared to liberate Jekyll from his solitary confinement.
However it was on the last day that the pieces finally came into place, after trying out each theory Jekyll head butted the desk preparing to give up, believing he would have to play the role of the boring aristocrat for the rest of his life. Till suddenly as he prepared his notes for being shredded he suddenly realised something, they all had common ingredients. He looked at the first theory where all of the ingredients shared the common ingredient of goblin salts, he looked through and also saw that two of the theories shared the ingredient Celestial hydroxide, five theories shared the base ingredient of the herb devils tear and lastly all of the theories shared the ingredient Dante’s ear. He then looked through the ingredients again, collecting all the data of the shared ingredients, adding up the amounts of all of them then diving that number by the amount of theories, thus giving him an average of how much of the ingredient to add, he then carefully collected these ingredients and added them to a flask, he carefully poured in boiling water.
Suddenly the potion steamed and frothed showing good results, Jekyll started shaking with anticipation. After stirring his mixture for about ten minutes the mixture had gone from clear water to murky green to a dark black with dots of green floating around in the mixture. Jekyll checked his calculations….this was exactly what he had expected it to do.
Slowly he lifted the flask upwards and closed his eyes. He knew what he had in his hoof was either his key to find eternal comfort with his lover Octavia or it would be his last ever drink. He breathed in deep and without thinking about it any longer he quickly consumed the contents of the flask, it tasted…surprisingly good, like a well-seasoned wine however he soon dropped the flask and gasped, he felt his form change, his hair started tingling and he gagged and fell to the ground, breathing heavily.
“What is happening to me?” Jekyll said as he felt his bones shrink, he felt his tuxedo almost slip off him as now it was now far too big for him. He felt his hair tingle more as if it was changing colour but worst of all he felt his wings retreat, he felt them actually shrink inside of his body becoming nothing more but body, his wings had actually disappeared. When Dr Jekyll stood up next he looked in the mirror of his room as saw a completely different person, he saw a black as night Earth pony, his eyes no longer blue but a dark grey, he was also smaller, only a bit bigger than a foal, but weirdest was his face and cutie mark, his face looked more sinister, almost intimidating, with an aura of fear while his cutie mark was no longer the chemical flask but instead was a gentlepony’s walking cane. What this meant he had no idea but instead of fearing his evil appearance he adored it, no one would ever suspect that this character was Dr Jekyll, he would no longer have to hide his activities away again.
“Mmmm Hide……Hyde……That’s it….my name is now Hyde…..Mr Hyde.”
He then trotted over to his wardrobe and opened it slowly, he looked to the bottom of it where there were his smart clothes from when he was a foal, he put them on and they fit perfectly, he then donned his hat again.
“Time to pay Octavia a vist.” He said in his now changed, deeper voice. As he trotted to the door he felt a weird urge….an urge to do something….wrong, he quickly kicked on of the chemical vials of the table and it shattered on the ground, he smiled admiring his handy work, for this was new to him, gaining such pleasure from weird wrong doings.
He carefully opened the door slowly and quietly, hoping not to alert Poole as he slowly trotted down the stairs. He looked to the side where Poole was lying on the floor sound asleep, it was 2am after all and Poole’s loyalty pleased Jekyll…or at least the Jekyll side of Hyde than smiled lightly as he trotted out of the door to see Octavia.
Dr Jekyll woke up, he looked around him and was surprised to find himself back in his own bed, now wearing ripped clothes, he felt himself lying on his wings and he looked at his hooves and they were grey instead of ebony, he smiled seeing that they had been no permanent changes to him from becoming Hyde. He looked at the tatters of his foal clothes that had been ripped during his re transformation into Dr Jekyll and he carelessly threw them of him and placed them on the floor. He laid in bed smiling, he felt amazing as if the transformation drink had given him a lovely version of a hangover, he felt amazing as if he could do anything, he looked at the clock and was alarmed to find it was 2pm. He smiled however remembering that he had no appointments that day and he sighed with relief. Suddenly he heard a knock on his door with the usual voice of Poole.
“Dr Jekyll sir…Glad you are finally awake sir…Well I hope you are sir…Mam Octavia is here to see you sir.”
Dr Jekyll could not believe his luck.
“Oh of course…her…send her in.”
“Will do Dr Jekyll sir.” As soon as he said this the door was quickly opened and shut by Octavia, she hovered over Jekyll staring at him, he could tell she had had a rough night, her normally perfect hair was resembling tumble weed and her eyes looked red from crying.
“….Octavia... What happened...?” Octavia quickly responded.
“I thought it was over Jekyll that’s what. Jekyll I know about you and Grima and that bastard trying to split us up but you have to listen to me, don’t be scared of him...The secret he holds is really not that strong, sure some members of the court will be appalled but I’m sure the rest of them do the same if not worst, they will respect you for your honesty.
Jekyll sighed looking down, he felt bad for making Octavia feel this way but there wasn’t much of a solution.
“I can’t risk it Octavia…..I love you but until Grima is dealt with I cannot do anything.” Octavia was taken aback slightly but soon she began to smirk.
“Oh we don’t need to worry about Grima for a while….he is in a coma...he is predicted to be out in a week but that’s a long way a way.” Jekyll sat up in bed quickly.
“How did that happen…how bad is it.” Octavia chuckled a little at the idea of taking pleasure in the describing of the physical wounds of someone she despised.
“Somepony kicked him, so hard in the head it caused some real damage, pony medicine is astonishing though so he should be right as rain in a week, though however did the deed is a real hero.”
Jekyll smirked, remembering his handiwork as Mr Hyde he almost opened his mouth to claim responsibility but looked deep into Octavia’s eyes; he did not want to look a monster.
“Yes…a hero indeed.” Then Octavia blushed a little.
“Well since he’s gone...I thought I could give you a little treat for trying to stand up to Grima at the castle and telling him why you loved me.”
Jekyll blushed; he wandered what this reward might be. Octavia smiled as she carefully left the room, she came back shortly with a gentlepony’s cane Dr Jekyll blushed bright red and Octavia giggled.
“Oh you cheeky little foal…you thought I was going to do some funny stuff.” She shook her head blushing as well. “Not now...you haven’t even had a shower you…Maybe tomorrow yes?”
Jekyll nodded obediently then chuckled, Octavia trotted over to him and gave him a loving nuzzles and a gentle lick on his muzzle, she then bowed quickly.
“I’m sorry honey, I have to go do another orchestral practice, I will try and visit you again…Must be off!” She then quickly galloped out of the room and out of the house, Jekyll grinned feeling a little better due to Octavia’s lovely visit, he looked at the cane smiling, he always felt that he would look cooler with one. Then he remembered suddenly the feelings he had felt as Hyde and considered something. With no appointments and no visit from Octavia that day, why not have another experience as Hyde….It was very tempting. Then he realised, if he wanted to play Hyde, he would need some new clothes, as well as a better base of operations than Canterlot, especially with the hunt for Grima's attacker now commencing.
Now fully dressed and washed Dr Jekyll stared long at a map of Equestria, trying to decide where would be the perfect place for him to be Hyde would be. Manhehatten was too far and too expensive buy a base of operations for Hyde in as well; Grima also had many friends in Manhehatten who could alert Grima of a pony that looked like his attacker. He couldn’t use Cloudsdale due to not being a Pegasus and Appleloosa was also too far away. Then he looked at Ponyville and grinned, it was perfect, it wasn’t too far away but far away enough to be out of Canterlotian influence, it had clothes designers who could make the perfect wear for Hyde as well as the plots of land their being dirt cheap he rubbed his hooves together grinning, he now had the perfect place house for Hyde. He began to write two blank cheques, one for the clothes and one for the house all to be billed for Dr Jekyll he then quickly made another batch of the Hyde elixir and slipped it carefully into his tuxedo jacket as he trotted down the stairs to meet Poole. The cream earth pony smiled at him.
“So Dr Jekyll sir, where are going now?” Jekyll smiled at his servant kindly.
“Ponyville, I have to check the Education standards there personally while Grima is away.” Poole raised his eye brows suspiciously.
“I see…..how long are you going to be staying there for.”
Jekyll frowned at Poole’s unusual inquisitive behaviour but answered him none the less.
“A day or two, no point going to a town and not staying there at least one day.” Poole sighed shaking his head.
“Alright alright, you have fun Dr Jekyll sir.”
Jekyll smiled at him again before trotting over to the train station. He luckily did not have to wait as coincidentally there was a train for the first stop near Pony Ville was just leaving, as if fate was beckoning Jekyll to go to Ponyville. He carefully boarded the train, handed them the tickets he had hastily bought and rested in his lounge seat in the first class cabin. He was informed by a ticket pony that the ride was going over night and would arrive at the stop at about 7 am tomorrow and that the carriages to Ponyville would only take about thirty minutes or so, Jekyll relaxed and looked at the clock on the train, on it bared the time 8 o’clock, even though it was still relatively early Jekyll found himself outrageously tired, he rested his head on the end of the lounger, falling into a deep sleep, which he would later regret.
Though Jekyll had lived a very privileged life it was not at all stress less. As a foal he had been bullied and despised by virtually every other foal at the school for being an egg head, they were constantly teasing him and hurting him. He dreamed of that time where one of the boys had used his horn to levitate him over a used toilet and slowly lowered him in while he sobbed for mercy. Or a time where an earth pony had kicked him in the nose, breaking it. Jekyll remembered telling his parents about it…but they shrugged it off as boys will be boys’ behaviour and that it was character building. Jekyll dreamed of the time his parents had told him to stallion up, leaving him sobbing in his room.
“Don’t they love me?” Young Jekyll had sobbed.
He dreamed also of the time his parents when he had finished his second PHD going off to the land of the Zebras and telling them they would not come back for 5 years. Jekyll remembered gasping as they told him that he had to stay in Canterlot to support the business. That was four years ago and during that time he had not received a single letter from them, the closest thing he had to a father during that time was Poole he cared for him till then. However the last thing he dreamed of was Octavia, crying and sobbing over the corpse of….Jekyll hovering over it, caked in blood was Hyde grinning and cackling evilly before raising his hoof to smite Octavia.
Jekyll woke up with a start, covered in sweat, he looked around him to see the now completely dark cabin with one or two ponies still asleep, he carefully looked at the clock, it was 6:50 am, and they would arrive at the stop shortly. During that time he waited and on the carriage he couldn’t get that vivid image out of his head, the murderous Hyde, smeared in his own blood, before murdering the love of his life.
At last he reached Ponyville, he carefully looked around the town, it was early but there were still a few ponies around. He asked a few where he could find somewhere to get breakfast. They kindly pointed him to a store called Sugarcube corner where he could quickly get a bite to eat. He carefully trotted there and bought some cupcakes and ate them quickly, he then asked ponies if there was a house for sale here, they all pointed him to a rundown old house at the end of town, the walls of the house were wretched and the windows were boarded up, perfect. Now all he needed was to become Hyde. He looked around PonyVille for somewhere that could be safe to become Hyde, and he found the perfect place in the woods just outside. He carefully trotted into the woods, concealing himself behind a tree; he then took his tuxedo off and drank the potion quickly, keeping only the hat on. He enjoyed his transformation into Mr Hyde taking much joy in the transformation as that feeling of power and fear came back to him, he grinned as he started feeling that animalistic strength return to him. He left the forest and began strutting around Ponyville, balancing on his back the two blank cheques. He first of all went to the town hall, scaring everyone else who had business there to let the small pony go first, he handed them the cheque and quickly expressed what he wanted and what he also wanted to be placed inside the house. When the Mayor’s assistant was handed the cheque they almost gasped. Not just would the cheque cover every single payment without a single bit of trouble but it was from a respectable gentlepony, Dr Jekyll, why would a pony like Dr Jekyll want to give an intimidating figure like Mr Hyde such a huge amount of cash. Mr Hyde then left, satisfied as he was gingerly handed the deed and the keys to the house.
Mr Hyde lastly went to Carousel Boutique to be suited perfectly. Hyde carefully opened the door and was surprised to see the beautiful unicorn that ran the shop. He paused briefly unable to speak, until Rarity turned around. Rarity at the sight of Mr Hyde gasped, as everypony else did, as if he leaked an aura of evil, as if anypony that got close to him would be corrupted. At first Rarity backed away slightly, Hyde coughed.
“Hello...I am Mr Hyde... I am here to get tailored Miss…..Rarity I believe?”
Rarity shook her head trying to get back into reality.
“Oh yes err…Mr Hyde...I am flattered that you would choose Carousel Boutique as your first choice for wear. Now young man what would you like me to do.”
Hyde carefully took the last blank cheque and placed it in front of her.
“The best you can get for a gentlepony like me.” Rarity was flabbergasted when she saw the cheque. How did a ruffian like Mr Hyde have a blank cheque from a respectable Gentlepony like Dr Jekyll! A pony known throughout Equestria. Rarity put on a great fake smile.
“Oh I am totally sure we can get something good for you, you handsome young stallion.” Mr Hyde raised his eye brow at Rarity’s flirty nature.
“Um…well thank you Miss Rarity…What clothes do you advise?”
Rarity smiled, hoping that her flirting was working. “Well I have a few ideas for you.”
Rarity soon took Hyde on a small fashion montage, she selected some of the best top hats she had until they settled on a small one with a small Ruby in the centre of it, they then chose another tuxedo this one fitting Hyde perfectly and had rubies as buttons however when Rarity suggested a cane Hyde shook his head vigorously.
“No thank you, I already have acquired one.” Rarity smiled but secretly was panicking, he would soon leave and she still would not know how he could be friends with Dr Jekyll, quickly she put on her most beautiful face and almost purred at him.
“Oh Mr Hyde, you look fabulous, only the best for a friend of Jekyll yes?”
Hyde blushed as Rarity flirted with him and soon dirty thoughts were flooding him mind.
“Yes….yes I guess so.”
Rarity really picked it up a notch putting her face very close to the short stallions face, almost having to crouch to do so.
“Now I am a little curious, how did a stallion such as yourself, become such good friend with Dr Jekyll, I mean no offence but you are quite different.”
Hyde was now sweating, more and more dirty thoughts were flooding to his head.
Maybe if I tell her, she will let me play with her……She is very beautiful.
The back of his head however started pounding; the weak voice of Dr Jekyll was fighting back.
How dare you, you belong to Octavia and Octavia alone, and don’t even think about exposing the game to this clear gossip mare.
Hyde shook his head quickly admitting defeat.
“Err…we are just friends, just are…met one time and have been ever since.”
“Oh really?” Mused Rarity smiling. “And how was that encounter.”
Hyde was close to panicking now, his head burning.
“Oh look at the time! Must be off!” Hyde quickly darted out of the room.
“Drat!” Rarity said angrily, she then smiled looking at the bright side.
“Well…at least he paid handsomely for those garments I gave him.” She giggled lightly before stopping and almost screaming in horror. The blank cheque was gone.
Hyde grinned as he placed the cheque into his tuxedo, it felt good robbing Rarity, unbelievable good, afterwards Hyde felt the Jekyll voice get a little quieter making him grin. Hyde knew it would not be long before Rarity told everyone about the theft, but that was fine, no one knew where he lived he had told the Mayor’s secretary his name was Mr Clyde, also he would only go out a night, it was safer and far harder to identify him that way. Hyde quickly galloped to his new found house. He opened the almost broken door slowly to see the run down interior, he knew some ponies would come to fix it later and smiled as he trotted around the building, it was perfect, not too big and not to small as well as being creepy, fitting with his evil character. He waited, the sensations he gained as Hyde preventing him from becoming bored as he trotted around the already ruined house breaking whatever objects where still intact. It was 8pm when he finally left the house, content with the things he had broken as he slipped into the night.
At first he just patrolled the night streets, looking for at least some havoc to wreak, however there was none to be found and soon the Jekyll part of Hyde start moaning about how Hyde was actually becoming extremely boring. However at that moment the appearance of a small filly came straight towards him, as it got closer and closer, it was clear that the filly was yellow, with red hair. However Hyde did not get out of the way, instead he ran towards her, wanting to cause as much damage to the filly as possible, the Jekyll voice was screaming for him to stop but the Hyde part over powered it and continued to run. Soon there was a horribly collision as both Applebloom and Hyde collided at full speed, Hyde being a strong pony was barely affected, while Applebloom was flung into the air and landed with a thud, her nose broken and dripping blood. Hyde grinned over the now crying filly as he quickly fled into the night again, content with his malicious actions. No one had seen what had happened and it wasn’t until Applebloom had been taken sobbing to the hospital was it later revealed that the assailant had been none other than Mr Hyde. Who no one had figured out yet was Mr Clyde.
Dr Jekyll was now back in Canterlot, he had gone straight from the attack to Canterlot and had during that journey converted into Jekyll, excusing himself to the toilet quickly during the process. It had been 7 am when he arrived at the train station and Poole was waiting obediently at the train station to greet him, but he was shocked to see the pale and depressed figure of Jekyll. He had not seen the boy so upset since the news of his parents departure. Poole quickly rushed towards him as he got of the carriage, as if worried that the weak appearing doctor would collapse at any moment.
“Dr Jekyll sir….What is wrong sir.”
Jekyll just shook his head, his head down, on his back he bared a bag, inside was all of the clothes of Mr Hyde.
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
Poole opened hs mouth to object to Jekyll silence slowly closed it closing his eyes and nodding, respecting his master’s decision.
“Okay Dr Jekyll sir….Lets just get you home sir.”
They walked back to the house in silence, Jekyll looked around, he felt as if he had committed murder, he had lost the fight against evil; he could not control Hyde and had badly injured an innocent pony as a result. When they finally entered the house Jekyll immediately trotted upstairs to the seclusion of his room, he closed the door slowly, but as he turned he was shocked to see the figure of Octavia lying on his bed. Octavia at first had smiled warmly but he look soon became one of fear and shock as she saw the depressed and run down face of Jekyll.
“Jekyll…what happened to you.”
“It doesn’t matter…..how did you get in my house?”
Octavia sighed; she knew she would have to answer his questions for a while before he could convince Jekyll to answer any of his own.
“Poole has two spare keys to your house, he isn’t stupid and he has seen how much you love me and he kindly gave me one of the spare keys, so that I might visit you without being seen with you if you know what I mean.”
Jekyll smiled lightly at the kindness of Poole and then looked around him, his research notes had been put in a neat pile and his boxes of chemicals had been put in the empty corner of the room instead of the random chaotic nature they had been before.
“I cleaned it up for you, wouldn’t want your research slowed down by low organisation would you?”
Jekyll smiled brightly, starting to forget his guilty conscience and hugged Octavia, lovingly nuzzling her.
“Thank you Octavia,” Said Jekyll lovingly as he hugged her, he then gave her a loving lick on her muzzle, she returned the favour licking his chin as well and soon Jekyll was slowly pushing her onto the bed and Octavia giggled.
“Oh Jekyll…I am not sure we should….Poole might hear us.”
Jekyll grinned and nuzzled her as he slowly placed his love on the soft cushions.
“Who said I wanted to do that….Maybe I just want to be with you.” He licked her nose slowly and hugged her, embracing his lover closely. “I am just making you more comfortable.”
Octavia blushed, surprised at Jekyll’s chastity and she stretched and made herself comfortable.
“Well first of all I have……..”
They started telling each other more stories of their past, talking and laughing as well as telling them stories of what they were doing recently, of course not mentioning Hyde in Jekyll’s case. Jekyll loved this, this was his payment for Applebloom’s pain, he was giving Octavia the greatest pleasure she had ever had in her life, the pleasure of love.

The week without Grima, apart from the incidents in Ponyville was some of the happiest experiences of Dr Jekyll’s life, he spent his days in constant harmony with Octavia, he spent all those days with her, though still secretly inside the house. They talked and laughed together with Poole bringing them food and drink and anything else they desired, Jekyll postponed his meetings so that he could spend his days with Octavia. Poole smiled at the young doctor, pleased thoroughly by the improvement in both health and attitude of Doctor Jekyll, his hair was no longer pale but rich in colour once again and he no longer locked himself in his room and amused himself with his own solitude, he was playing and socialising with Octavia. Poole even brought Octavia her cello so that she could entertain the too, while of course letting Poole and Jekyll have a try with hilarious results. Life for the first time in a while for the three seemed perfect; Jekyll had left his chemical vials alone, no longer feeling the need to become Hyde to feed his pleasures. However a grey earth pony was about to change all that, and would once again cause Jekyll’s life to tumble out of control.
After the week of paradise had finished Poole rushed upstairs pounding on the bedroom door as hard as he could, Jekyll and Octavia who were peacefully slumbering in bed were suddenly awoken by the savage knocking.
“Poole…What is it…Its only 8 o clock.”
Poole’s voice was now heard through the door.
“It’s urgent sit, that swine Grima sir is trying to see you sir, he want you to meet him sir at the hospital sir, he has just been taken out sir.”
Jekyll and Octavia looked at each other worried, Jekyll turned slowly to face Poole again.
“Does it say what for?”
Poole shook his head sadly.
“No…not at all.” Jekyll looked at his fiancé and gave her a quickly nuzzle before going into the bath room to clean himself, Octavia looked worried at Poole and got out of bed as well, heading downstairs to the servants bathroom, the one which Poole used. Poole sighed at the two lovers and descended downstairs where he waited carefully at the door of the household.
Jekyll worried as the water poured all over his body. Horrible thoughts flooded his head as he washed, he considered what Grima wanted with a troubled mind.
What did Grima want….Was he going to brag to him that he was about to tell his secret to all of Equestria and make him beg like an animal for mercy? Maybe it was just a subject of business.
Jekyll did not bother with the shampoo and barely dried himself as he quickly trotted downstairs, he saw Octavia with her bow tie holding the comb while Poole held the clothes under his hoof. Octavia slowly combed his head, careful to make it perfect as if this was going to be the last time Jekyll would be seen alive, Poole then carefully placed the hat on Jekyll as if crowning him with a crown of thorns. Octavia then carefully did the front of him then his back and Poole then threw his clothes atop him and did them up carefully. Jekyll was now fully dressed and he looked at his two favourite ponies in the world, he gave both of them and loving nuzzle and then gave Octavia a loving lick, slowly on her cheek.
“No matter how it comes out Dr Jekyll sir….I will never stop serving you…..”
Jekyll smiled lovingly at the loyalty of Poole and bowed to him in a refusal of roles. Octavia licked him back on the cheek slowly.
“Grima can do whatever he wants with you…you will still be the Jekyll I know and love, poor or rich, beautiful or ugly….You are the stallion I want to be with for the rest of my life.”
Jekyll smiled, and a lonely tear trickled down his eyes at the beauty of Octavia and in the poetry of what she had said, he nodded honourably and trotted to his fate with a honourably heart.
Jekyll saw the grey Earth pony outside the extravagant Canterlot hospital and was surprised to see him with very little marks of his injury apart from a small bandage that was wrapped around the aristocrat’s head. Jekyll carefully walked up to Grima slowly, worried about what Grima had to say, as he got close to Grima he opened his mouth to speak but Grima lifted up and hoof and shook his head slowly, making Jekyll feel quite intimidated. After about a minute of silence Grima spoke.
“It has come to my attention that you have continued to court that peasant musician Octavia, despite my many warnings for you to cease with your foolish antics.”
“But Grima I love he-“
“NO YOU DON’T JEKYLL! You love the pleasure she gives you, the blasphemous sensations of the flesh that only she is willing to give to you, which you disguise with the righteous purpose of love. You have given me no choice but to have me tell the foul stories of your affairs to the press. Just as soon as I deal with that assailant who took me to this foul place.”
Jekyll was close to growling, prepared to strike this pony down himself but when he heard the word assailant he stopped in his track unable to strike, chained by curiosity.
“Assailant, you mean the man who took you to hospital?”
“Yes of course I do you fool! That monstrous Mr Clyde, my contacts in Ponyville tell me a stallion matching the very description I gave them had recently bought a house in Ponyville under the name Mr Clyde, as soon as I have personally taken this pony to justice I will deal with you and that brat Octavia!”
Jekyll did not get angry, nor beg or cry, in fact he had to fight himself from grinning, the Hyde in him that had previously been neglected was flooding his mind with thoughts with evil ideas and schemes until one of them really did seduce Jekyll, it was perfect and would even stop Grima’s plan to ruin him, Jekyll smiled briefly.
“Well I wish you good luck Grima.” He said gratefully as he trotted away. Grima looked puzzled and unsatisfied, confused why Jekyll was so happy with his own downfall and annoyed that Jekyll had not begged him, allowing him to squeeze more power from the doctor without the stress nor gamble of overthrowing him using the press.
Jekyll quickly galloped to his house he opened the door to find that neither Octavia or Poole where there, presumably at the same place, Jekyll quickly ran upstairs collecting his things, putting all of Hyde’s clothes in a small bag before quickly making another batch of the wretched potion, as he collected the items he quickly wrote a note telling his companions that Grima had said nothing and was only checking with Jekyll over business, he told them that he was going Ponyville to buy a present for the two for their loyalty, he placed the letter on his bed before going out into Canterlot again, prepared to catch the first train to Ponyville.
Jekyll bought a normal ticket to avoid all chances of running into Grima, as he climbed into the normal carriage he saw Grima out of the corner of his eye, he saw that he was carrying a bag as well, presumably with a weapon to defend himself if Hyde tried to overpower him. Jekyll as he climbed in looked in his bag, where the cane Octavia had given him rested carefully inside. Jekyll rested carefully on the train, preparing himself for what he was about to do, he was told by a ticket pony that the train would arrive in Ponyville at about 9pm, the perfect night setting.
When they finally arrived at the stop Jekyll yet again took carefully consideration into staying far away from Grima, taking a completely different carriage as he did as well. Jekyll grinned, his mind now almost purely Hyde as he prepared to end Grima’s control of him.
When they finally reached Ponyville Jekyll quickly ran to the nearest toilet which was luckily very close, as he stood in the toilet he quickly drank the potion and winced as the slightly painful transformation into Hyde began, his Jekyll clothes slipped off him as he transformed aloowing him to quickly take them off, stuff them in the bag and place the smaller Hyde clothes on, he was now ready for anything. He held the cane in his hoof in the same way Octavia held her bow and carefully left the toilet, making sure no one saw him and headed straight for the town.
Despite the recent entrance of travellers the town was surpinsgly empty, virtually everyone indoors at this time, Hyde grinned as he now saw Grima strutting around the streets as if he owned the place, Hyde carefully followed him, and like a leopard silently stalked his prey. Soon Hyde went into the town centre, just outside the town hall, there was no one around and Hyde could not wait any longer, he rushed at the grey pony and slapped him hard across the head with the cane, making ihm collapse again, this time he did not fall unconscious and instead he lay on his back staring at his attacker.
“Mr Clyde….stop this now! You will be arrested for this do you hear me?”
Hyde grinned as he kicked Grima hard with his hoof, enjoying making his enemy squirm.
“You thought you could own me Grima, thought you could make me your bitch, then you try and ruin me….You are mine now Grima….mine!”
Grima looked horrified as he looked into his attackers eyes, he looked past the greyness, helped by what his attacker had just said and saw just a pinch of its original colour, and saw the original soul of the body, tortured and corrupted by the potion and soon he gasped horrified.
“Jekyll…..but…..” Hyde had had enough, he raised the cane again and hit him, and with apelike strength and fury hit him again and again, panting as he did so almost laughing at the pain he gave to the victim, there was the horrific sound of breaking bones and mangled limbs, after thirty seconds of the attack, Grima closed his eyes and his mouth dribbled blood. He was dead. Hyde continued to beat him with the stick, not content with just that, he continued to hit him until the cane itself snapped, when the blood lust was finally over Hyde looked at the body, panting as he looked at his work and the Jekyll inside him screamed. Hyde’s voice was replaced by Jekyll’s.
“What….What have I done…….”
But it was too late, Grima was long dead, Jekyll could feel his body changing and his tight clothes ripping, he now galloped away from the scene as fast as he could, his bloody, ripped clothes falling behind him. The only intact piece of clothing left was the hat, which fell off Jekyll as he ran, rolling right next to the mangled victim and next to the now broken cane. It would not be till morning till someone found the body.

The Strange Case Of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde
Utterson carefully looked at the body in the morgue, the mangled features of it disgusted him but he kept his calm manner, he had dealt with worse, it was all in the training to resist pony nature to scream and vomit. Slowly one of the Royal guards trotted in, levitating the evidence and placing it carefully next to the body, Utterson looked curiously at the cane and hat. The lawyer quickly identified the hat as one of Rarity’s design and gave himself a mental note of where to go, however the broken cane was a lot hard and he looked at it carefully.
“Was it found broken sir?”
“Yes.” The guard replied firmly “It was broken in the attack.”
Utterson carefully looked at the two halves of the cane carefully, it was a beautiful cane, finely made as well, it was a shame that I had been broken; he looked carefully at the tip and was shocked to read the inscription on the side. To my lover and heart’s desire Jekyll.
How could Jekyll have murdered or be associated with the murder of Grima. A supposed friend of his, Utterson prayed that perhaps Rarity could prove Jekyll’s innocence.
Utterson carefully stepped into Carousel Boutique, holding the hat in his mouth. He quickly saw Rarity, not facing her as she was distracted placing a dress on one of the mannequins, Utterson carefully placed the hat on the counter which made enough noise to gain Rarity’s attention, at first she smiled at the appearance of another customer but when she saw the hat she gasped as her mind flooded with images of the intimidating Mr Hyde, Utterson suddenly put on a face of worry.
“Whoa whoa whoa, Miss Rarity. What is the matter?”
Rarity slowly shook her head and sighed.
“I am sorry…It’s just that hat, its fashion matches that of a previous costumer of mine, a very rough looking and rogue of an individual.”
Utterson raised an eyebrow.
“Indeed, that is why I am here, I am investigating the murder of Mr Grima, he was found with this hat near him, and do you know the man who you sold this hat to.”
Rarity was shocked, a costumer of hers, involved in murder, why it was awful, disgusting and damn good gossip.
“Err well yes, Mr Grima, a friend of Dr Jekyll yes.”
Utterson looked very unimpressed.
“Just answer the question please mam”
Rarity sighed, lawyers tending to be very tight with information.
“Yes, his name was Mr Hyde, short fellow with dark hair, an earth pony as well with a cane as a cutie mark, he said the clothes he bought could be as expensive as he wanted, he gave and then stole back the blank cheque, made payable to Dr Jekyll in fact.”
Utterson almost gasped with shock, somehow this friend of Dr Jekyll was involved with the murderer of Grima, the murderer was of course Mr Hyde, but the involvement and possible location of Hyde which Jekyll could know about had still to be checked. Utterson smiled briefly taking back the ruby hat.
“Good day Mam...Thank you for your co-operation.”
Jekyll woke up slowly, he was surprised to find himself in his bed, safe and sound, and he was in his bed in Canterlot. He looked around and slowly saw the face of Poole looking over him worried.
“Thank Celestia you woke up sir…I thought you had died sir.”
Jekyll shook his head dreamily.
“What happened…?”
Poole shook his head hardly wanting to re tell the painful story.
“You came back to Canterlot by hoof, you ran all the way here, you finally got here about 10am and collapsed, we all thought you were going to die from exhaustion, a doctor came here and said you were lucky to survive, he said that a sudden growth in leg muscle had allowed you to run here, while your survival is still un known………Jekyll I don’t know why you did that and I am not going to ask you sir…But just know that me and Octavia were worried sick, you were asleep for almost two days.”
Jekyll was shocked when he was told the story, even more so by the motive, he had no idea why he had run from Ponyville by hoof…It was totally beyond him. He looked at Poole shaking his head.
“I have no idea why I did that….I can’t even remember why I was in Ponyville.”
Poole chuckled as he turned to get a tray of food for his master.
“You were apparently getting us presents, though the only thing you came back with a bag full of your clothes.”
Jekyll raised an eyebrow, his head started pounding slightly as it was slowly putting the pieces together, he had his Jekyll clothes in a bag, was he trying to be Hyde again?
Poole then came back with the tray of food in his mouth; he then carefully placed it on the bed smiling at his master’s slow recovery. He then looked around confused as if something was missing; he then inquired to him master.
“Where is the cane lady Octavia gave you sir.”
Then Jekyll’s widened, not just at the loss of his lovers cane but he felt his head burn as the last piece of the demented jigsaw was placed in his mind, he felt as if a nail in the coffin of his sanity had been nailed into the already quite full Coffin lid. He remembered the vivid motion of Hyde as he struck down a pony and vigorously beat him but he could not remember who, and the full extent of the attack. He suddenly went pale and gulped.
“Well, I must of left it in Ponyville, I will send word to my friends there…I am sure they could find it.”
That’s were Poole shook his head sadly.
“Well, you certainly lost a colleague, though probably not a friend In Ponyville.”
Jekyll swallowed, whatever this was he was almost certain this would be connected to Mr Hyde’s appearance there and his brutal attack.
“Mr Utterson has gone to Ponyville to deal with a case there; it appears…..Mr Grima has been brutally murdered.”
Jekyll paused and looked down at the food on the tray, staring long at it, he could no longer meet Poole’s eyes…….Hyde……..He had murdered Grima, he had murdered Grima with a lover’s cane. Jekyll did not know what to say, he had already failed to restrain Hyde when he collided with that poor filly, but now he had prevented him from murdering Grima. Grima was a bad pony but he did not deserve to die! Jekyll continued to stare at the food, in his mind a battle was raging between guilt and sanity. How could he live with himself now, he had brutally murdered another pony, but if he continued to feel guilty he would never be able to do anything else with his life, and what he had struggled and fought for his entire life would have been for nothing. Poole interrupted this battle as he coughed worried.
“Is something wrong Dr Jekyll sir?”
Jekyll closed his eyes a small guilty tear slipped down his cheek. “No…No there isn’t.”
Poole shook his head.
“Sir I know you pay me to agree with you but there is clearly something wrong with you Dr Jekyll sir.”
Jekyll shook his head vigorously as more tears flowed from his eyes.
“No no no there isn’t.”
“Sir…You frightening me…What is wrong.”
Jekyll snapped now almost screaming.
“GET OUT POOLE! NOW!”
Poole stepped back gasping, Jekyll had not shouted at him for an along time, the last time he had shouted at him was when Poole had told him the news of his parents departure, to which he had sobbed and screamed at him, begging him to have them come back, to which Poole could only shake his head and say that he was powerless to do so. Poole closed his eyes, honouring his master’s decision and slowly trotted downstairs, closing the door behind him, where he trotted to the kitchen and laid there in defeat, wandering with all his might what had gone wrong.
Jekyll carefully got out of bed, tears still streaming down his cheeks to the bathroom, he carefully turned the taps, planning to wash his face to try and calm himself down, when the sink was full of the cold water Jekyll carefully splashed his face, trying to get himself in the right mind of thinking and to try and think of what to now. He looked up in the mirror and saw himself and smiled lightly at least this assurance. Suddenly Jekyll gasped as he spotted something, he looked deeply and his eyes were now….Black as coal…Just like Hyde’s, he now looked at his hair and it was becoming very slowly black, becoming more and more ebony as time went on, he winced as he felt his wings shrink, shrinking about to the size of a foal’s. He shrieked and kicked the mirror to pieces in fear.
“What is happening to me?” He screamed as he retreated to his bed, curling up like a scared dog at the notion. Was he now becoming Hyde, as his wings shrunk he felt more and more evil, as if his wings were whatever good he had in him, and by becoming Hyde it was clipping them, preventing him to go upwards, towards the lands where all good ponies go. Jekyll panicked, he would not stay as Hyde. He would not except such a fate, he ran over to his desk and collected the chemicals and hastily made a batch of the potion, he held the potion in his hoof, drinking it quickly, his hoof shaking vigorously as he drank. Soon he felt his wings stop shrinking and he watched as his fur lost their ebony colour and became grey once more. He sighed relived at this sudden relief but he soon realised with horror that with the Hyde drink this would wear off….He looked at his supply of chemicals and saw that they were dwindling. They were all extremely hard to obtain and could take weeks to collect again….By then it would be too late. He needed a cure now! Jekyll looked carefully at his chemicals; his recovery from guilt would have to wait.
Utterson trotted through the streets of Canterlot, bearing his evidence items in a bag. He first wanted to visit Octavia who could bear more easily given answers than Jekyll, as he approached the house he slowly knocked on the door. After about a minute Octavia answered, bearing as usual her trademark bow-tie. She smiled briefly.
“Mr Utterson, it is a pleasure to meet you.”
Utterson did not smile and simply nodded.
“I understand…..I am here on important business, may I come in?”
Octavia’s heart sank at this notion, was it something to do with Jekyll and Grima…Had something gone wrong?
“Oh….okay….Yes you may.” Utterson slowly entered, he quickly went into the living room, not bothering with courtesy or flowery talk.
“Can I get you anything Mr Utterson, cider, wine?”
“No.” Replied Utterson flatly as he placed the evidence bag on the table, he soon used his magic to open the bag and dragged out the items carefully, placing them gingerly on the table. Octavia gasped as she saw her gift, the cane, split in two and covered in blood.
“I am investigating the murder of Grima, we know the culprit is none other than Mr Hyde but we are questioning his relations to Dr Jekyll, if that is alright?”
Octavia nodded slowly; barely able to comprehend the idea that Jekyll could know such a man as this clearly barbaric Mr Hyde. Utterson none the less questioned her.
“Have you ever seen Mr Hyde before,” he said calmly carefully showing the hat, at this Octavia raised an eyebrow.
“Yes…….one night…….about two weeks ago…..I heard a knock at my door, me and Jekyll have a secret knock we do, and that is the one I heard, I came to the door and I saw no one there except a small pony running away, he did not have the same hat but it was the same size and style.”
Utterson smiled and the surprisingly good evidence Octavia had given.
“Would of Jekyll of had a motive to have Grima murdered?” At this Octavia gasped shocked, surprised by the flatness of the question.
“Well….yes….He was planning to ruin him you see but…Jekyll would never do that, I know him too well, he would never do that.” Utterson nodded slowly, he took note of the motive but took very little account of what Octavia said for he already believed it himself. However that was not to say Hyde may still be hiding with Dr Jekyll.
“Thank you Miss Octavia…You have been very co-operative. Could you come with me to Jekyll’s residence; it may convince him to become as co-operative as you were with the case, that is if he will be of any trouble of course?”
Octavia could not believe her luck; she could get to the bottom of this without looking suspicious and see Jekyll.
“Yes of course, I would be happy to help you.” She then blushed not wanting to sound too enthusiastic. Utterson raised his eyebrow, a smile not once touching his professional face as he nodded.
“Thank you Miss Octavia…we should leave now.”
Octavia nodded with agreement then trotted slowly out into the street with Utterson.
Poole opened the door slowly as Utterson knocked gently on the door. Octavia could see by the cream pony’s eyes that he was very worried, most likely about Jekyll. Utterson picked this up as well and raised his eye brows.
“I take it that Jekyll is not open for visitors?”
Poole shook his head sadly.
“No Mr Utterson sir, he has been acting very strangely, shouting and crying….It is awfully worrying sir.”
Utterson sighed stepping into the house, he stop below the stairs and called up loudly.
“Dr Jekyll…….Its Mr Utterson….I want to ask you a few questions. Can I come in?
There was silence and during this Octavia and Utterson looked at each other, even Utterson had a look of worry in his eyes. Suddenly a shriek came from his room, one of sheer horror and several painful grunts were heard. The other ponies’ faces were soon consumed with horror by the sounds, as if they were staring at a blood thirsty dragon. Utterson raised his voice again.
“Jekyll are you alright………Is something wrong?”
After about thirty seconds of silence, there was a response, but the voice was deeper, darker then Jekyll’s.
“No…..nothing…..I just cut myself……Quite badly but its fine…”
The ponies looked at each other worried, the difference in voice so soon after the shrieks was…disturbing.
“Can we come check on you Doctor? You are giving us reason to worry.”
The voice replied again almost worried.
“No! No….Its fine trust me….I think I have some plasters up here….it’s fine…”
Octavia and Poole knew this was rubbish, there was virtually nothing for him to cut himself with as well as no plasters…Jekyll…or whoever this was clearly making excuses. But they were unsure what to do, they couldn’t just open the door, what if it was just something very embarrassing….Utterson sighed and nodded slowly.
“I see….I will come again another day.” Utterson trotted away, his mind running with ideas with what possibly could be happening.
Octavia trotted up the stairs, determined to try her luck with her love.
“Jekyll…it’s me…Octavia. Can I come in?”
The voice actually seemed more hostile to Octavia then it was for Utterson.
“NO! NO! You can’t……I am…..The wound is bleeding….a lot……..I don’t want to make you feel ill.”
Octavia gasped at this clearly rubbish excuse then sighed nodding. There was clearly no way to convince Jekyll to let anyone in and she trotted away in defeat, Poole sighed and closed the door behind her, thankful that at least somepony had tried to end his suspicious solitude.
It continued like this for three days, Utterson and Octavia would visit the house to try and seek audience with Jekyll, only to be rejected by the voice. Utterson got more and more confused and distressed by this while Octavia was increasingly slipping into depression by her lovers odd behaviour.
However on the fourth day at about 3 am Utterson was woken up from his house by a very loud knocking, the knocking was not gentle, in fact it sounded as if Somepony was sprinting on the door, Utterson quickly got out of bed and answered the door, to his utter surprise he saw a shocked and almost tear stricken Poole.
“Mr Utterson sir…you have got to help me sir! Jekyll is getting stranger and stranger and I cannot bear it no more.”
Utterson gasped, he had never suspected that Poole would go to him for help, Poole had always been so calm and loyal, and to see him snap was astounding.
“Well….I could help…come in…and tell me what’s wrong.”
Mr Utterson carefully brought Poole into his surprisingly bland house for someone of his wealth and carefully made him a cup of coffee. He handed it to Poole who was shaking uncontrollably.
“Now….tell me what is the matter….”
“It’s horrible Mr Utterson sir! I love that lad like a son…..And I am suspecting…..Foul play!”
Utterson raised an eyebrow and almost raised his voice to Poole.
“Foul play….Surely you are joking…You are the only one in the house surely.”
“Yes but….He is acting so out of himself, sobbing and crying, speaking in that weird voice but most of all the screams….they scare me…..I don’t know Mr Utterson sir…but he has a window sir….It sounds silly sir but maybe he let that Hyde character in and Hyde has been torturing him sir…..”
Utterson, hardly believing what Poole was saying, not because he believed it ridiculous but it was secretly what he had been fearing for those past 3 days.
“Do you have any evidence Poole……”
Poole nodded sadly.
“Yes…it is why I came at this time…you see Mr Utterson sir….I have left him trays of food and when I am not looking whoever is in that room takes it. So I left him dinner at 9pm and waited…Eventually he took the tray about half an hour ago. He thought I would not be up that early but I waited in wait for him. Then I saw him…He was a short pony…with black hair and he looked….ghastly and evil…like he was fresh out of Tartarus. Utterson you must come quickly…….We are going to take down that door.”
Utterson, though shocked with the news he had just heard he knew that it needed to be done, he quickly left with Poole, Poole had left his coffee untouched and soon galloped with Utterson to Jekyll’s house.
As they entered the house Poole firmly trotted up the stairs, feeling more confident with Utterson behind him.
“Jekyll…Or Hyde……Come out now…Or else I will knock down the door myself!”
The voice cried feebly.
“No please don’t!”
Poole growled loudly, as if the voice had kicked him.
“HA! That is not Jekyll’s voice…It is Hyde’s! I am taking this door down now!”
Soon Poole began kicking the door hard. Though he was a strong pony the door was also strong, but soon cracks were appearing.
Hyde inside panicked….this was his end, they would kill him if they saw him, probably not even letting him explain himself, he quickly looked to the desk, the chemicals were almost entirely gone, Hyde’s mind, now mostly Jekyll was screaming for a solution. Hyde looked at his salts…..there would only be enough for one use……and not from the default one he had been using Hyde soon flicked through his research notes, desperate for the answer he had searched days for. At last he reached a page of interest however he raised his eyebrows at it. It had equation on it he had not written at all. In fact it was Octavia and Poole’s hoof writing. He looked carefully at the research notes, they had, for fun perhaps balanced the previous equations, for them it must have been a game but for Jekyll this was perhaps the formula he needed, according to his hasty calculations this potion would not just turn him into Jekyll but destroy Hyde, ending his future transformations, however he hesitated, what if he was wrong, it could get him stuck as Hyde forever…..He looked around and saw his window, he could jump from there…escape and try again but he knew this was silly, the fall would kill him, or maybe that was the honourable way out, at least then he would have had a control over his life again, ripped at last from the grasp of people like Grima and Hyde and his bullies at school. As the door was reaching the last phases of its strength Jekyll needed to choose one. He breathed in as he chose his choice.
The end
Hyde walked through the dark streets of Canterlot, he grinned loving the feeling, no ponies asking him questions, no Grima demanding him what to do, and no worry of embarrassing himself, and he was totally incognito. The small pony trotted along the streets of Canterlot and noticed some late ponies returning home; when they say him coming they gasped and avoided him like the plague as they backed away from him in fear. Hyde grinned as they avoided him, he enjoyed the power as he grinned evilly at a foal and his mother making the foal burst into tears. He trotted on, each evil deed making him feel stronger.
As went on his way he saw the grey from of a familiar pony and Hyde grinned evilly.
“Why hello Grima.” He said smirking. Grima turned around slowly to address the harsh voice talking to him.
“What in the…” Before he could finish Hyde delivered a sharp, strong kick to Grima’s face sending him flying to the ground. Hyde grinned over the bleeding unconscious Grima.
“Take that you bloody bastard!” He then trotted off, pleased with his heinous act. Even the voice of Jekyll in the back of his head was singing praises of being able to punish that oaf Grima. After about three more minutes of walking he finally saw the Mews house of Octavia he slowly approached the door and breathed in and knocked loudly on the door, hoping that she would be up at this time. There was a groaned response from Octavia.
“Coming!” Hyde could just hear from inside the house he breathed in slowly prepping himself for Octavia, he looked at the glass window of the door and was shocked, he saw himself and was…..disgusted, he had a few drops of blood on his clothes from assaulting Grima and his evil face was….awful. He paused, if Octavia saw him like this she would slam the door in his face, what if she realised it was Jekyll, and she would flee from him and cast him out like a beggar. He closed his eyes and sighed, galloping away before Octavia could answer.
Octavia opened the door slowly, smiling believing she was going to see Jekyll but when she saw nothing but darkness she sighed and slowly retracted, she had overheard the conversation he had had with Grima when she was going to another ball room to practise, when she finally saw that Jekyll had admitted defeat, a tear went down her cheek as she slowly closed the door.
Hyde returned home in defeat, while Octavia returned to bed, sobbing.

This is NOT a full conversion of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde to My little pony, i took the basic idea and turned it into something different. If you were wanting or expecting a conversion i am sorry
I chose romance as a big part of this as Hyde's biggest metaphor in the novel was to represent the crime and poverty in Victorian Society. Since there are no murders or open gutters and slums in Canterlot, a love between a aristocrat and someone lower down became the new inspiration for the creation of Hyde.
I have not put an ending in on purpose. I wanted the reader to chose their ending. Does Jekyll use the formula and live happily ever after. Does he chose the path of suicide or does the formula trap him as Hyde forever and he waits his fate at the scaffold as he cannot convince anyone that he is in fact Dr Jekyll. If you would like me to make endings feel free to ask.
Why the use of BDSM? I thought Jekyll had to have a dark side, so i chose one, in this case BDSM, this is due to it being a understandable dark side that people have, it was a dark side that did not make the reader hate Jekyll (eg: was better then drugs or anything else i could of come up with at the time)
Why does Jekyll lose his wings when becoming Hyde? To represent (in a more christian sense) that by becoming evil he has lost his ability to go upwards (towards heaven)
