Walking til my hooves bleed

this ideas stemmed from lack of sleep, too much Tea and random music.

The walk was long and arduous, with random encounters paving the way.

the smell of the desert was slowly getting to me. Luckily for me there was a ravine near by.

I took a small rest and looked to the horizon, it looked as though Night would be rolling in soon.

I silently chuckled to myself. I began my journey once more.

I remembered her words when i left. "should you find yourself lost on the way, Look to the skies, let the stars be your guide"

I then sighed, pulling out a scarf and wrapped it around my neck, bringing it across my maw while adjusting my hat.

it was a simple task. upon my travels, I had met an old courier. he wanted me to deliver a letter for him, the poor man was dying.... I say man...I mean stallion. I felt like a fucking delivery boy. but it needed to be done, dying stallion's wish.

of course, had i gotten the train...

I shook the thought. whatever this letter was, it's important, maybe not to me... but its important none the less.

I carried on walking.

soon, my path became illuminated by the moon. I was pretty thankful for that, although by now, almost three thirds into the journey, I was pretty sick of all this fucking sand. but whatever.

It was an astounding sight, the stars twinkled and danced along to an ever unheard beat. walking for three days straight, I took another break. I scratched the base of my horn for a moment with a calloused finger. there was a distinct lack of taste in the air.

I took a small bite out of what food i had left. suddenly rationing my food seemed like a good idea.

Three more days is all it'll take. I continued my journey forth, finding myself upon a large green hill.

How i ended up on this hill, i'll never know. I pulled out my map and looked at the last mark I made upon it.

Had i really walked that far? as I looked at the several hundreds of miles i had walked, I had come up with the perfect explanation, Magic motherfucker... I haven't got to explain shit.

As I stood there, watching the small town sitting ever so quietly in the distance, I simply sighed to myself.

"Almost there, just a few more miles to go" I said out loud to practically no one other than the wind. I began to walk forwards.

However, my foot slipped. I soon found myself tumbling down towards the small town at a speed that could possibly rival the most fastest of earth ponies. I soon shot my legs out forwards and rolled into a standing position, but that standing position soon turned into a run. fucking angles...

so now I'm speeding down a large hill and desperately trying to avoid trees. it was making my feet hurt like anything. I applied the brakes, Promptly finding myself in the middle of a clearing.

Looking up, it was once again night. I set up a small camp.

the small camp consisted of a two man tent (you never know if you get yourself a companion on the way) and a roaring fire.

I sat there and pulled out a small book. one which was given to me by the lunar princess herself, she had wanted to make sure that i was fully prepared for whatever I ran into on my journey to Ponyville.

Sooner or later it would be morning. I put the fire out, the only way i knew how.

And it was a piss worth having, I tell you now.

climbing into the Tent, i simply smiled at the prospect of returning to civilization. then it was a simple case of drifting off to sleep. but of course, as soon as i shut my eyes, I felt a presence. the unknown pony jumped into the tent and was shaking.

It was then that I caught a glimpse of the pony's eyes, full of fear and sorrow. "whoever you are, just relax" I got up, the pony then looked at me for a moment as I pulled a knife out of my boot. "I'll be back" I speak softly, my voice a calming whisper.

I took a step outside the tent, then quietly observed the scene. A large manticore was sniffing at the still dying embers of the fire. I began to sneak up to it. it then caught a glimpse of the blade, moonlight dancing off of it. the beast then roared. "seriously?" I looked at it incredulasly. it roared again, at took a swipe at me. I simply swiped back, catching its paw.

it then decided to take another few swipes before preparing its sting. "don't be a prick" I grumbled.

needless to say, I could see a small drop of venom on the tip.  It brought its stinger down.

I moved slightly to the left as the stinger hit the ground. the manticore shot me a look which just screamed you are so dead.  I dug the blade into the poison gland, then with a small yank, i took both the gland and a blade covered in poison out. the gland hit the ground with a small thud. The beast looked at me for a moment, then swiped. I caught its paw once again, only this time both drawing blood and poisoning the manticore.

Manticore poison is a strange thing. for an adult pony, it can kill within a day or two. a small child it could take up to at most 5 hours. for a manticore... it all depends on how much you use. because my blade was covered in it, the Manticore wouldn't last the night.

I looked at the knife for a moment and then within a minute I decided to just walk back into the tent.

"excuse me but are you..." I trailed off seeing that the young pony was asleep. I say young pony... she was my age.

What she was doing out here in the forest? I'll have to ask her in the morning.

I grabbed a blanket from the tent and slept outside, who says chivalry is dead. but then again, a 25 year old in the body of a 17 year old? what would you expect?
