My life, my decisions, they're rules

We had landed about half an hour ago in the said location of 'area 49'.

"We flew all the way out here for nothing..." I muttered

but unfortunately a certain damn Lara had heard me "Don't be so pessimistic, now look for something, anything or else I will not hesitate to rustle your jimmies again!" the last bit got a small giggle out of Alex before he went back to daydreaming

2 hours later

I was pacing like mad around the safe perimeter that had been set up just after my near death experience with Lara, until I tripped on a root.....'a root out here?' I thought until I looked back and noticed that it was a small metal bar, but that wasn't what caught my attention. the thing that caught my attention was the area where there used to be sand but instead there was a hole that was quickly increasing in size

I could only gawp at the spectacle unfolding before me "OMYGODOMYGODOMYGOD!"

while I was gawking Lara came up behind me a-a-and planted a quick kiss on my cheek! within five seconds my cheeks felt as if they could boil water!

she simply said "good job".....but enthusiastically which was extremely rare....for her anyway, before walking off to investigate the hole

"Congrats, man you just got a kiss from the only female in existence who doesn't want to eat your brains" Chuckled Alex mirthfully

"Hows about you dig your own grave?" I replied with a shrug

I then accompanied Alex over to the hole.

"Stairs........how high tech" I heard Lara mutter. how does she keep a straight face? she removed my jimmies! never ending discomfort....it's sad

Once we got down there, we found ourselves in a large circular room. there was a door to my left but it was locked! In the center of the chamber was some kind of control panel which formed a loop around some kind of glowing central strut.

"BIG. RED. BUTTON!" shouted Alex joyfully

"Don't even thi...." It was too late he had already pressed it

"And now what happens?" The foolish Alex asked. as if to answer the question the glowing support changed from a dull white glow to bright red!

"ALEX IF ANYTHING BAD HAPPE...." Lara didn't get to finish....she just crumpled to the floor, pupils receding into the back of her head

I tried to run over but before I could take a step there was an explosion of pain behind my eyes! I was unconscious before I hit the floor.
