Heart Breaker the alicorn

Heart Breaker stood surrounded by his friends talking constantly about the day and just generally chatting. Steven, being the huge serpent he is couldn't fit inside the barn and applejack had opened the double side doors so the creature could look in and be involved in the party. As time went by more and more ponies gathered in the barn, from what had happened in the past few months everypony had to admit that a party would be nice.

Everypony Heart Breaker knew was there. Even Lex was still handing around, Heart Breaker looked to the warrior and saw that the pony had helped himself to a slice of cake. Rainbow Dash was constantly looking out of the doorway whenever a pony walked in and the Pegasus seemed distracted.

"So Heart Breaker. How was your birthday back home?" Rarity asked, Heart Breaker had never actually mentioned where his true home was but knew that not saying was for the best.

"No where near as good as Pinkie's Ponyville parties." Heart Breaker replied giving a not very convincing smile. Rarity noticed it but wouldn't say anything about it.

"So when does the party start?" The alicorn asked. Looking to Applejack and Pinkie. Applejack gave a small laugh and Pinkie nodded her head to the direction of the stage. Vinyl Scratch was now trotting onto it. The DJ wore her sunglasses and stood for a moment before calling everyone to be quiet.

"Excuse me everypony." She said. After a few moments the barn went quiet, everypony staring at the pony on stage. Heart Breaker blushed again when he realized that realized that nearly all of Ponyville had shown up to his birthday.

"Thank you all for coming firstly and I trust you have all given Breaker a very warm, happy birthday. My name is Vinyl Scratch and I will be your DJ this evening. I hope you all enjoy the food the great ponies at Apple Acres has provided along with the use of their barn. Thank Pinkie Pie for sorting this party, we wouldn't have known if Heart Breaker hadn't told Haze, who unfortunately can't be here tonight, and that Haze then told Pinkie Pie. So Heart Breaker, you can blame him. Hope you have a super birthday, lets get the music started then!" Vinyl said and an uproar of the ponies, serpent and knife shock the barn. Vinyl put a song on and the party began.

Almost three hours passed and Heart Breaker still watched Rainbow Dash stare at the doorway. Pinkie Pie had become completely smashed from the cider given to offer already and was now dancing to any song that came on. Heart Breaker was felling a bit funny himself and thought of home. So far away, home was a memory now. Maybe not even a memory, a dream? Home had been so long ago now, and it was so far away. Maybe it didn't exist anymore and Heart Breaker was in Ponyville. Fluttershy squeaked as her favorite song came on and she rushed to the dance floor and began to dance with Applejack and Pinkie Pie. Heart Breaker felt a sudden push with a muzzle and noticed Twilight had just headbutted him.

"Go on. Go dance." Twilight said, getting tipsy herself.

"With who?" Heart Breaker replied, then blushed at his own accent. So different to everypony else.

"I don't know. Me?" Twilight asked. Heart Breaker laughed a little but shock his head, only one pony in his life would he be happy to dance with, and she was far away. So far. Suddenly Rainbow let out a little squeak and everypony turned to the doorway. A dark cyan Pegasus with blue and red hair, a scar on his forehead and leg, along with massive scabs and scars on his body side stood at the door. Bright Haze, the human. And next to him. A beautiful alicorn with mystical hair and sparkling eyes, a perfect posture and was just utterly dashing stood next to him. Heart Breaker's best friend had escorted his love to Heart Breaker's own party. He blushed and waited for Haze to come over. When the pony finally did he looked tired and ill. He had lost weight and looked very dizzy. His mane was a mess and he smelt as if he hasn't showered in weeks. But despite this the pony still gave him a smile and wink.

"I felt bad about not getting you anything, so I brought you your crush." Bright Haze joked. Heart Breaker blushed and looked to Celestia, who was talking to somepony, she caught Heart Breakers glance and gave a smile, wink and mouthed 'happy birthday'.

Heart Breaker looked to Haze and smiled.

"Well. Here we are, another year." Heart Breaker said. Haze laughed and nodded.

"Yeah happy birthday you alicorn bastard." Bright Haze said, the Pegasus quickly walked off to grab a drink of cider and came back with the biggest glass the pony could of found.

"How is she?" Heart Breaker dared to ask. Haze's smile dropped and the dark shadows over his eyes looked even worse. The pony hadn't moved from her side and Heart Breaker had dared to ask if she was okay. Suddenly the smile came back and Haze drank into the cider, emptying the cup in one.

"Derpy Haze is fine. Doctors say she will be ready tomorrow." Haze said. Heart Breaker smiled.

"You are one lucky guy." Heart Breaker said.

"Shut up, its your birthday, enough about me. Where are your presents?" Haze said winking again.

"In the cellar I think." Heart Breaker replied.

"What do you mean? 'you think?'"

"Well Applejack took them and took them down a little hatch thing. Over there." The alicorn pointed with a hoof to where a small wooden door lay.

"So AJ is controlling your birthday?" Haze joked.

"Yeah, well its organizing. I am to open my presents in a few hours." Heart Breaker replied. Knowing exactly how he just sounded like.

"Well I remember at Christmas I would at least guess what I had when I found eye out where my dad had put them." Haze said, then gave a confused look.

"You know, the sad thing is, I can't remember what my father looked like, probably a Pegasus like me. I would be upset but I can't remember ever knowing him so he is a stranger to me. This damn memory loss has damaged me badly." Haze said, clearly ranting a little bit.

"Well I never opened my presents on Hearts Warming." Heart Breaker replied.

"Hearts Warming, that's it. Where did I get 'Christmas' from I wonder?" Haze replied. Heart Breaker smiled. 'You remember some things and at what cost. The portal will always stay open Haze. I know it.' Heart Breaker thought. Bright Haze began to trot to the wooden door.

"What are you doing?" Heart Breaker asked. Haze laughed and looked to his friend.

"Going to see the presents." He replied.

"They are MY presents." Heart Breaker complained.

"Then come with me." Haze said. "Before I fall asleep from standing still too long." Haze added swaying a bit. Heart Breaker cursed and trotted toward his friend. Heart Breaker noticed at how different Haze is in peaceful times. Rather than war. Haze was two different ponies, peace and war, but then again. They all are..
