Chapter 2:

When trees gives you stallions, something ain't right

The sun rose from the horizon at Sweet Apple Acres. It was a wonderful morning, or at least you could think that. For Applejack, it was a long morning. All thanks to Pinkie Pie. She just needed to have an after party for the party of having an after party for the party that was made to celebrate the start of the applebucking season. Applejack really regretted that she allowed it too. Not only did she come home far later than ever before, she overslept too.

That had never happen to her before, and even worse was the fact that this was the first day of the applebucking season. But she was way to tired too be able to rush downstairs and start working directly. Instead she went to the bathroom and started brushing her teeth and combing her mane, she also took the opportunity to wash her face. In that way she wouldn't look so sleepy, and she would get a little more refreshed too. Without realizing it, she fell asleep in front of the mirror, that much for the water idea. After realizing that she had fall asleep, she headed downstairs. She was going to act like nothing was wrong, but that didn't go as planned. As she was going to take her first step on the stairs, she missed it. That ended up with her embarrassing falling down and sliding down on the stairs, loudly, head first.

After embarrassingly falling down the stairs, she saw that Apple Bloom, Big Mac and granny Smith already sat at the dinner table, waiting for her. Granny Smith was reading the papers, Big Mac was silently eating his food and Apple Bloom sat there with her chin to the table, mostly by boredom.

“Yeahh...” Applejack answered with a bad poker face, as she went to the dinner table. It was then she saw that there was already food on the table, ready to be eaten.

“They know how to cook?” Applejack asked.

“No”
“Noope”
“No way!” They all answered at the same time.

“Ohh Ah see where this is goin’.” She said, as she took a seat at the table.
It didn't take long until Applejack had realized just how good she was at making food. While she was trying to eat something that was meant to resemble a pie, she started to ask why they hadn't started the applebucking yet.

“Why haven't y’all started the applebucking yet?”

“'cause we don't start the bucking until every family member is gathered.” Granny said.

“Well, at least y’all could had woke me up in time.” Applejack said with a little annoyed voice.

“A fully awake pony is always better than a half sleeping one, isn't that obvious?” Granny said.

“Well of... Of course, good thinking there.” She said with a nervous poker face. Applejack just continued trying to eat her food without saying anything in this awkward situation.

As soon as she was finished they all went outside to start the applebucking, well at least Big Mac and Applejack. They were the only ones in the family who could buck the trees hard enough for the apples to fall. Granny Smith and (mostly) Apple Bloom's job was to put some baskets under every tree, so the apples would fall in them. Granny went with Big Mac to the east side of the farm and Apple Bloom went with Applejack to the west side.

The sun was at top of the sky, and was as warm as it could be. The sky was almost clear, just some few clouds in the sky. But they were so small and thin that it was hard to even noticing them. Applejack stood at a small hill and watched her sister place the baskets under the trees, she needed to give her some time to place them before she started the applebucking.

”She better hurry or I will fall asleep here.” She thought. It seemed like nothing had helped her tiredness, not the water nor the food. She started to wonder if she would be able to achieve today’s work. Her eyelids started to slowly fall down, and suddenly she woke up. She knew that this can't go on forever.

Applejack approached the first tree and gave it an average kick. Then she heard the sound of apples falling down in baskets. She looked up to the tree and searched for some apples. This gave her a smile on her face, an average kick took down all of the apples. If she used the same power on every tree, she probably would have succeed with today’s works without a problem. She continued with the bucking without any problems. After a couple of trees she felt the tiredness coming back.

Applejack just tried to ignore that feeling and continued, but in vain. The more trees she bucked, the more tired she got and not by the kicking. She also noticed that less apples fell from the trees. Thankfully, Apple Bloom did too. She approached Applejack and asked.

“How late did you actually come home yesterday?”

“Ya don't wanna know, actually, ah'm not sure myself,” She answered.

“But.. what made ya come home so late?”

“Two words.. Pinkie parties...”

“But didn't that party start very early?”

“Yes it did, but that wasn't the only party she threw,” Applejack said with a weak sigh.

“What do ya mean?” Apple Bloom asked.

Applejack started to lean against the closet tree and yet again let out a sigh.
”Listen. You know Pinkie Pie, right? After the first party, that was great by the way, she decided to throw a new one. That after party was also great but after that things started to go down. After that after party she wanted to celebrate again, for achieving such a great after party. But less ponies came to this party, no big surprise, only Pinkie can party that much without getting tired. And ironically, she threw yet another party. This one was an after party of the party of having after party of the party to celebrate the applebucking season.”

“That doesn't really explain why ya came home so late.”

“Well, ah'm not sure if she threw anymore parties after those 'cause ah fell asleep during the second after party.” Applejack answered with little ironic laugh.

“But didn't you get your sleep back then?”

“Ah have no idea, doesn't look like it. Any more question ya want to ask while ah'm still awake?”

“Yeah..huh..hmm.. no....”

“Then I shall return to mah buckin duties.”

“Oh. Just one more thing.” Apple Bloom said

“Yeah? What?”

“Ye see that tree over there.” Apple Bloom was saying as she pointed to a tree not far away.

“Yeah, what 'bout it.”

“Ah heard some noise from that tree, like something was sleeping on it. Can it be Rainbow Dash?”

“Not likely. She should be aware of this. Not even she is stupid enough to sleep on the apple trees during the applebucking season.”

“Anyway, just wanted ya to know about it. Get back to your bucking now.” Apple Bloom said as she trotted away to get some more baskets to the rest of the trees.

Applejack looked at the tree Apple bloom talked about. It was about 20 trees away, not that far away. As she tried to not fall asleep while bucking the trees, she thought more and more about the that tree. It came closer and closer and suddenly it was there. She looked closely at the tree. She noticed something, something was snoring. Applejack got one of those ”Are you kidding me” faces. It really had to be Rainbow Dash. Who else would sleep on a tree, especially in the start of the applebucking season. Applejack wanted to do a little prank on RD, so as she heighten her back hooves ready for a kick, she hit the tree with all her might.
Just as planned, RD fell down from the tree. But the only problem was that this wasn't RD at all. It was an unknown stallion. As he fell down from the tree, he hit a big tree root. Applejack could feel the pain just by seeing it and hearing it. As she walked closer to see if he was okay or not, she noticed some stuff about him.

He was a brown Pegasus stallion. He had an unique silver colored mane and tail. Nothing out of the ordinary. But she also saw those things that wasn't ordinary. Mainly his wings, Applejack wasn't a expert on pegasi but she knew something wasn't normal about then. They were in a different color from his body-color, they were black. They were also slightly bigger and different shaped than the others. And the thing she saw last was his cutie mark. Weird as it could get, it was a question mark. A red question mark.

As she stood there she asked ”Are ya okay, sir?”. She didn't get an answer, this made her very nervous. She gave him a small poke and asked again ”Hey, are ya okay, sir?”. Again, nothing happened. She looked around to see if anyone else were nearby, but they weren't. Apple Bloom had either gone to help granny Smith or had she gone somewhere with the Cutie mark-Crusaders. She gave it a last chance. This time she shook the stallion as she asked yet again, ”ARE YA OKAY, SIR”. This time it looked like something actually happened. It seemed like he finally woke up. Applejack let out a sigh of relief.

He slowly opened his eyes, he blinked a couple of times until he saw Applejack there with bad poker face smile. His face expression instantly changed to something between anger and panic. He then quickly jumped up and landed on his fore-hooves and kicked the tree he had been sleeping in. That made some few apples fall, and one of them hit AJ in her head. As it hit her, she got a little dizzy and didn't notice that the stallion had changed direction of his kick, that now was pointing to her instead. As she got kicked, she flew into the a tree and passed out.

”Hey, AJ! Stop sleeping already”
Applejack open her eyes and saw Apple Bloom in front of her.

“..huh...”

“Yeah AJ. Wake up sleepy head. It not like ya to sleep at the job.”

“WHAT! Was ah sleeping, whatsthetimewhathaveahmissed. Ah must continue work right away.” AJ screamed as she starting to run to the tree farm again. For some reason she had woken up on the small hill a bit away from the trees.

“What work? Apple Bloom asked as she tried to stop AJ's running.”

“You have already bucked today’s trees. She finished.”

Applejack suddenly stopped. She looked at the tree plantage.

“Did ah buck all that? She asked confused.”

“Yeah, just like ah said. Ye had already bucked all of today’s apples. Shouldn't ya know this 'cause YOU did this.”

Applejack just sat down with a confused face.
”Yeah, ah must have forgotten when ah took a that nap”

“Anyway, ye are free from work the rest of the day.”

“Ah am?”

“Did ye hit your head earlier or something. Ye KNOW these things. Of course you're free for the day. Anyway see ya later.”

Applejack just sat there, on the small hill and said silently to herself ”Yeah. Ah'm suppose to know these things, but ah'm darn sure that stallion was real.” Then she just wandered away to the town with just one thought in her head. Did all that just happen?
