Chapters Research Team: Canterlot NorthStar foundation
The heavy snow fall continues to rage on but within the white void of the storm, lights can be seen. These lights were tall light stations as it radiates around a fairy large temple and around the temple was old ruin houses. Near those houses,were small tents and two unicorns step out. Both are wearing light orange snow coats. The dark brown male unicorn spoke as they walk near the temple.
“...hitching a ride off this darn place when the supply trains rolled in next week, Aura Blast.”
The blue female unicorn known as Aura Blast stop in her tracks and spoke as her pulled on her friends tail “I don't understand how you can just walk away from the most important archeological discovery of the century!” she soon pointed to the temple “this structure was built by a race older than us or even the alicorns! Heck, it's a reason why the crystal ponies even stayed here in the first place...”.
The brown pony watched as Aura closed her eyes and summon her magic to cast a spell. A spell that she can easy do than other ponies can. “Mana sight” spell or known by today name “Magic aura” spell. As she soon opened her eyes, she could see the powerful aura surrounding the temple grounds.
“...This energy readings are unlike anything anypony has ever seen!” she joyfully said as her face her friend once more.
“Yeah, well maybe some things oughta stay buried and forgotten...” trailed off the brown unicorn as he and his friend finally entered the temple.
Aura quickly replied as she trotted in front of him as they walk down the large hallway with ancient symbols on the walls “HEY! That's not the way a scientist should speak! That's uncool.”
“Look, I know it sounds crazy, but there's something...wrong with this place...” whisper the unicorn as they pass a few of their co-workers.
Aura sigh and spoke as she turns back to her friend side “you're right, my friend. It does sound crazy.”
“...maybe so, but I’m not the only one who's had the nightmares. I'm not the only one who's heard the whispers coming from the shadows....” replied the unicorn as he gazes off in the dark areas of the hallways and rooms.
Aura just waved it off as they entered the heart of the temple. A large room with a huge crystal in the middle of it, stood there was a huge circle with symbols on the floor. Surrounding the huge crystal was machined as workers started to active it. Standing in front of the machine was a white coated and gray maned female unicorn.
"Hey, have the commander been acting weird lately? like really weird." whisper the unicorn as he turned to Aura Blast "You had to notice this too. when she thinks no one is looking, she talks to herself....she losing it."
Aura quickly whispers back "Shut it! she might hear you or something you idiot!".
“You're late!” shouted the unicorn as she face them “...well it doesn't matter now. The machine is finally working...” smiled the unicorn as she returned looking at the machine as it started to shoot out rays of green light.
Everypony step away from the machine as the crystal started to react by glowing bright red and unleashing sparks. The white unicorn step closer to the crystal and smiled as she was about to touch it.
“Thank you. All of you, thank you for your service. Today's the day where everything will change. Many of you may run or hide but in the end....you will bear witness to it....”
“Bear witness to what? Commander Starlight, you're not making any sense! Why did you even require us to make this machine!?” shouted one of the workers in fear.
“Bear witness to the end...” she replied as her hoof was almost touching the crystal “...and the beginning!” Starlight scream as her hoof finally made contact with the glowing crystal.
Everypony in the room was soon blinded by a bright light of red but it only lasted for a few seconds as the crystal turned from red to black. As it turned black, Starlight spoke once more but her voice was much different...almost darker.
“It spoke to me, and told me great things!” as she spoke, the crystal and she was soon blasting out dark smoke “it told me that this place is a prison. That this crystal is the lock and that this machine, which we build, thanks to it, is the key.”
Everypony tried to escape but it was too late. The smoke covered them and something or someone entered their minds. They all fell to their knees as their horns started to spark with great fury.
“Let this whisper become a...” whisper Starlight as she started to hover above them.
“SCREAM!” yelled an unknown being from within the room.
The force of the scream and the dark smoke soon covered the whole temple. Covering and entering the minds of other workers inside and it soon spread outside.
“FOR THE LORD OF THE IN BETWEEN PLACES HAS RETURNED!” screamed Starlight as her eyes started to bleed darkness and her horn was cracking as dark smoke oozes out of it.

Miles away from the temple, within the Crystal Empire walls, a pink alicorn quickly woke from her sleep and screaming in great fear. in turn, this woke up her husband.
"Cadance!? what's wrong?" said Shinning Armor as he turned on the lights with his magic "you look like you seen a ghost!" quickly spoke Shinning as he bears upon his now pale looking wife.
"...I heard a voice....with a great evil pressure...almost like....him" whisper Candace as she put her hooves on her face "...i'm scared Armor....i can still.....hear the voice!" cried Candace with fear.

Ch.1 Twilight of the moon light
"Where did this blizzard came from!?" spoke a purple female unicorn as she cast a spell to shield her from the strong icy winds "It just came of nowhere!"
"Hold strong Twilight!" yelled a powerful alicorn as she blasted the blizzard away with one strong beam of magic.
"Princess! That was amazing!" called out Shining Armor, as he and his men were able to catch up to the unicorn and the Princess "Thanks to you, we can make to the Northstar camp in no time."
Luna nodded and took point as the group of twenty continued on.
Twilight walked up to her and spoke "So why did you summon me out here again?"
Armor look back and answered "Cadance been hearing...something...ever since Northstar research team went dark last night. The company CEO reported that the last thing sent to their crystal, were...whispters..." Armor looked up and started to sweat slightly "I need you along because lets face it, you're the egg head here and this is right up your alley, if its magic base."
"To be honest, I have no idea why she's here? She appeared a few hours before you arrived and somehow knew about the events." replied Armor as he too, stared at the princess "I think she knows what's truly going on here but wouldn't tell me...just..."
"She just spoke with Cadance, right?" quickly said Twilight.
"Yeah...like she knew what was going on too...but tried to hide it..." said Armor in a worried tone.
The siblings stopped talking as Luna shouted to them and the others, that they have arrived. Below them, was a temple and ruin old houses and tents with lights scattered them.
"Sir, this that...blood?" asked one unicorn knight as she readies her horn for battle.
Luna's aura faded away and faced the group "The very air is thick with...magic corruption...the void..."
Everypony stood ready as a lone unicorn walked out from the shadows but it's eyes bleeding with blackness and its horn oozing out smoke.
"Princess...Okay everypony, we need to head to the center of the temple and stop whatever going on here." said Twilight as she scanned the area.
"Be careful sis..." hugged Armor
Both teams went on their way. Twilight group head further down their tunnel but soon found dead bodies of the research crew. They were badly torn apart by somepony, maybe the infected?
"Only for her, to forever dream about it...ONLY TO CRY IN THE DARKNESS!" screamed the voice as Twilight was shallowed by the voice and its darkness.
"...her choice...her choice..."
"It hurts..." cried the filly voice

ch. 2 End of Choice
Twilight continued to shout out as her mind was kept being blasted by the voice. So much pain, that she felt like she was losing who she was, until she felt a warm aura around her mind.
“She shall not fall to you, fallen one!”
Twilight opened her eyes and found herself being held in the air by Luna magic, as she blocked off the infected with her night aura.
“Twilight you finally awaken!” smiled Luna as she set the unicorn down and started to fire her magic beams at the machine that was affecting the crystal, sadly though, the infected kept blocking the attack with their bodies “Twilight Sparkle! Hurry and help me take out the machine!”
Twilight nodded as she too started to fire her magic at the machine but like before, the infected got in the way of the attacks.
“Foolish! Your choices won’t matter!” laughed the voice as it sent more infected at them, until they were able to push through Luna’s aura and consumed them with their bodies.
Twilight closed her eyes and once again, she could hear the crying filly...she could feel her pain...her sadness...her lost of something...Twilight could feel something within her growing “NO!” screamed Twilight as she fired off a powerful rainbow beam from her horn, as her cutie mark was glowing brightly, that it pushed off the infected from her and Luna’s bodies.
In front of her, Twilight watched in horror as the figure consumed the princess and slowly form into something that looked like Nightmare Moon but still keeping the burning red eyes.
“Princess!?” cried Twilight as she backed away as Nightmare stepped towards.
“The Shadow Walker now knows no will and choice but mine!” laughed the voice.
“Princess! You must resist it!” yelled Twilight as she backed up against a wall.
“There is no Shadow Walker, no Luna as you called her. There is only...ME!” roar Nightmare as the temple started to shake with great fury.
Twilight duck and started to panic, was this her end?
“Twilight!”
Twilight and Nightmare looked up and saw Armor and the two crystal knight ponies in a tunnel vent above them. All three ponies jumped down and started to push back the remaining infected, while Armor reach out to his sister.
“Twilight, teleport out of here!” ordered Armor as he blocked an attack from an infected Pegasus “Head back to the empire and tell everypony what happened here!”
“What about you?” questioned Twilight as she saw her brother create a magical shield and sword “I can’t leave you!”
Armor turned to her and smiled “Twilight, I’ll be fine...just go!”
Twilight eyes started to fill up with tears as she nodded and teleported to the tunnel vent system and dash off back to the outside. Armor smiled soon faded as he and his last remaining knights faced the infected and Nightmare.
“Foolish little ones, you shall fall here by my choice!” smiled Nightmare as the infected bodies started to turn pure black.
Armor dash toward Nightmare with his weapon and shouted “My choices are my own!”
Before the strike could land, Nightmare and the rest of the infected body shot out dark magical aura and filled the chamber with it.
“GAZE UPON THE END OF THIS WORLD! THE CYCLE WILL FINALLY END...for...her…”
With her teleport speed, Twilight was not only able to exit the temple but also land on the outskirts. She turned back and watched as the temple being consumed by a dark magical aura. Soon, she could see millions of burning red eyes as they slowly march forward. With no time to waste, Twilight teleported hop away back to the crystal empire as the night sky slowly turned dark.
“There is only one choice in this universe and it’s mine…”
