Pumpkin 'Nutmeg' Patch and Pinkamena 'Pinkie' Diana Pie were always great friends, nothing more.
They day she got her cutie mark was coincidentally the day Patch had to leave, meaning leaving his only friend and the only home he ever knew. That same day the first ever Pinkie Promise was ever made, between Patch and Pinkie.
Years later Pinkie still remembers that promise and will hold Patch to it till the end of time, never letting it slip from her mind.
