Never Break a Pinkie Promise
Pumpkin 'Nutmeg' Patch stared at the buildings as he stepped off the train. He looked down at the piece of paper on the inside of his bandana, he inspected it for a few short minutes before tucking it back down into the small flap that kept it from falling out. He trotted slowly through the streets of Ponyville, gravel crunching beneath his boots, eyes frantically switching from side to side.
It was starting to get dark outside so he'd have to find a hotel for the night; But first! Something to eat! He opened the door to the large building and took in the smells and sights of all the sweets. "It all looks very good." He whispered. He pressed his face to the glass, sliding it over to the left, a squeaky noise sounding as his face moved. He moved it to the left and then up and down. "Hmm..." He put his hood on his chin and tapped it for a few seconds then nodded. "Uh! Excuse me?" He asked, tapping the bell. 'Ding Ding! Ding Ding!' Rang the small bell. "Hi! What can I get for ya?" A pink pony asked. Her mane was big and fluffy, and her cutie mark had three balloons on it; On the left a blue balloon, top center a yellow and bottom right another yellow. "Oh, uh.. Yes! I'd like that chocolate cake and that pumpkin pie, oh with a small packet of Nutmeg Incense if you carry it please." He said smiling. He pulled a pouch from the pocket on his vest and laid it on the counter, waiting for her. "MR. CAKE?!" She screamed. "MR. CA~~~~~KE?!" She screamed once more. "Pinkie quiet down! The babies are trying to sleep!" The yellowish stallion shushed her as he walked into the room. "What did you ask for sir?" The stallion, apparently named Mr. Cake, asked. "Oh I asked for a Pumpkin Pie, a Chocolate and if you had it, some Nutmeg Incense." He took out fifteen gold bits ,setting them on the counter. "Well you're in luck!" Mr. Cake said "Cause we have some Incense this week!" The stallion walked away, to the back to get the incense. "Hi ya!" The pink mare said, well actually it was more of a shout. "Hi." Nutmeg replied. "My name's Pinkie Pie." She said smiling. 'Pinkie PIE? No way. She can't be related to Pinkamena!' He screamed at himself. "MY name's Pumpkin." He said smiling "Pumpkin Patch." Pinkie's eyes went wide as did her mouth and then she gasped, pretty much deflating. No literally, she deflated like a balloon and went flying around the room.
"Uh..." Patch just stared, eyebrow(Right) arched She landed on him with a squeak, her marehood grinding up against his member. He blushed and backed up slowly. "What was that about?" He asked nervously. "IT's me!" She said, poking at her chest with her hooves."Pinkie Pie!" "I don't know a Pinkie Pie, hell! I just met you!" He said throwing his hoof out. "OH! It's Pinkamena!" She corrected herself. 'Oh my Celestia.' He said in his head, his eyes going wide. "Don't you remember? It was thanks to you that we made the Pinkie Promise!" She said, almost screeching now. 'Pinkie Promise.... I guess that's where she got Pinkie from and her last name is Pie so...' He nodded and smiled. "Yeah. I remember. I said this exactly: Pinkamena Diana Pie. Don't you worry cause I'll find you again one day and we will have our own family one day we'll be married and one day... One day we'll be together again. I Pinkie Promise. And then you said 'Pinkie Promise?' I replied 'Yeah. Pinkie Promise. Pinkie would be short for Pinkamena!' we both giggled and then I said-" "I changed it." She said looking down. "... You CHANGED it?" He asked raising his eyebrow again. "Yeah! I changed it to Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye!" She added emphasis by poking herself in the eye. "Ow!" She squeaked. Mr. Cake walked in, seeing Pinkie just sitting at Patch's feet. "Oh I am so sorry sir! Are you okay?" He asked, setting Patch's stuff on a table. "Yeah.. I'm fine. Hey does Pinkie get off anytime soon?" He asked grabbing his stuff. "She can get off whenever she likes." Mr. Carrot replied, shaking his head. "THANK YOU~~!" Pinkie screamed, running out the door. Patch sighed and left twenty gold bits on the counter and left the shop, the lights turning off behind him. The sign was switched to closed and he heard a clicking sound. "Wow. They must REALLY like closing time." He said to himself. "Pinkie?" He called out into the dark, the only thing providing light being the Moon. ".... Damn it Pinkie Pie. I spend all these years looking for you to uphold my Pinkie Promise and then you go and disappear from me again." He sighs and continues to walk around the town, finding his way back to the motel. The door-mare opens the door for him and he nods his head as to say thanks. He trots up back to his room where Pinkie sat on the bed. "...H- H... How did you get in here before me?... How did you even know what room I was in?!" He asked, almost dropping all his stuff. "I know everypony in Ponyville and everything!" She said bouncing up. He rolled his eyes and set down the cake and pie. He put the incense on a small dragon incense burner. He lit it and took in the smell of Nutmeg. "Mmm..." He heard Pinkie say/moan. "IT smells like your house when we were kids..." She said, her eyes closed. He smiled and went to sit by her. "IT does doesn't it..... And that's also the reason I got the nickname nutmeg..." He said chuckling. "When did you get that?" She asked, tilting her head. "Oh I got it a few years back in college. I went to the college in..... Fillydelphia I think." He said, cutting a piece of chocolate cake. "Would you like some dear?" He asked, blushing after he said dear. "Deer? WHERE?!" Pinkie screamed. "No no, I said dear. You know,.... What loved ones say to each other." He felt so uncomfortable speaking to her like this; All those years looking for Pinkamena and then finding... Well.. PINKIE. "....I can tell you don't like what you'd found do you?" She asked from the bed. "Pinkamena-" "It's Pinkie now Pumpkin...." She said looking down. "...Pinkie then. I spent YEARS looking for you. I got degrees in map reading, I memorized the location of every city and town in Equestria. Not a single moment went by when I didn't think of my promise. And I'm gonna keep it. I'll never break my Pinkie Promise. That's one promise that will never be Broken." He looked her straight in her blue eyes, straight faced. Tears started to well up in the mare's eyes and she started crying. She flung herself at him and embraced him in a tight hug. "I- I- I MISSED YOU SO MUCH PUMPKIN!" She screamed, tears falling onto his chest. "I missed you too Pinkie." He said, closing his eyes. "D- Do you still love me? Or was it just the foolishness of a filly saying they loved me? She asked. "I meant it. Every word. And I still love you. I will until the end of time and beyond." He said smiling. Several tears dropped onto his chest till they finally stopped. "I've been meaning to ask you Pumpkin..." She said, chewing her lower lip. "Shoot." He said smiling. "Why is your cutie mark a Laurel Crown and not a nut?" She asked. His smile went flat and he sighed. "It's a long story really. It happened after I moved away. I was apparently good at sports so they entered me in the school-lympics. I won first place in every category I did and got my cutie mark. I'm not athletic anymore though... To much violence." He chuckled at the last part and sighed, nodding. "Wow! I got my exactly after you left! I saw a Sonic Rainboom and felt happy!" She said smiling. 'Wow. That's simple.' "That was when I told myself I'd make everyone who I encountered happy. I devoted my life to that." She said looking at the ceiling. "...Hey. You know I can get us a better room with a moon roof so you can see the stars you know?" He asked/said smiling. "You don't have to g-" "I insist Pinkie. After all I DID just find you. Think of it as a gift." He interrupted her with good intentions. "Oki Doki Loki~" Pinkie said, bouncing away. He followed her down to the desk where he bargained with the desk clerk for a room with a moon roof.
After half an hour of talking with the clerk he got bargained and got a better room with a moon roof and all of that. "The stars are beautiful tonight aren't they?" Nutmeg asked Pinkie. "Yeah... They are." She said. Nutmeg's stuff was moved into the new room and the two lay on the soft carpet, Pinkie resting her head on his arm. Nutmeg shuffled and put his hooves behind his head. He kissed the back of Pinkie's head and smiled. "I love you Pinkie." He whispered. "Nnnhh...." He heard from Pinkie. He looked at her and chuckled. 'She's asleep... How cute.' He smiled and picked her up, putting her on the bed. He got on the bed with her and pulled the covers over the two of them. 'What an eventful day' He said to himself. 'And an Unbroken Promise.'
