Whisked Away: Chapter 9: Betrayal

Felix silently made his way through the forest, his thoughts brooding on the recent events.

I just saved Fluttershy's life.

His then remembered his mission. He was nearing the place where Chrysalis had told him to go. Felix emerged through the trees to find three changelings arguing in the center of a small clearing. They instantly stopped as he made his way down. "I assume you're the ones that Chrysalis wanted me to meet?" He inquired. They glanced at each other. "Yeah." they replied, a little quicker than usual. I don't trust these guys. They seem too suspicious. But, what choice do I have? Felix thought.

"Well, what does your queen will me to do?" Felix asked eventually. "You need to make your way back to Canterlot. Others will meet you there." The third one replied. Easy enough. "Well, I guess I'm out." Felix decided. He started making his way back up the hill. He was out of the small wooded area soon enough.

Why do I have a bad feeling about this? It's not like me to be paranoid.

Sure enough, He encountered no difficulties while making his way back along the border of Ponyville. I don't see why Chrysalis didn't just send me straight to Canterlot. It's not like making such a long trip did anything. Wait, except help Fluttershy. Felix felt warm just thinking about it.

The moon slowly rose behind Felix as he jogged the final stretch to the train tunnel. He gripped his knife tightly in his hand. I've done this before. It should be easier this time, right? No sooner than Felix had reached the top of the hill had he heard the train's whistle blow. As he glanced to his right, he was it coming up the mountianside.

Well, that's convenient.

Too convenient.

Felix had no time to think about it before it started entering the tunnel below. Get ready.

Now!

Felix leaped onto the cart with perfect accuracy, wincing once again as the loud noise the metal made as he landed. Suddenly a multi-colored streak shot out of the car below him and turned to charge him. Rainbow Dash.

Time slowed down. Felix felt each agonizingly slow moment as he tried to evade. But Dash was ruthless, focused on her target. "I have you now!" She yelled as she tackled Felix with a force that put the cockatrice to shame. Time sped up again as Felix felt himself falling, propelled by Rainbow's quickly beating wings. He smashed into the ground, stunning him, as he could only watch his knife slide away from him. Dash had him pinned. "You're not getting away this time!" She snarled. Felix thrusted his legs upwards as he had done before, but she was already expecting that. She dodged flawlessly. Before Felix could attempt again, he was barraged by Dash's hooves. He could only do his best to protect his face from the merciless pegasus' blows.

Felix started to feel himself slide down the dirt hill, the angry pegasus still ruthlessly beating away. Suddenly he felt open air below him, as Dash let go. He didn't have time to regain focus before his head smashed into the rock below.

Solid rock.

As his vision blurred, Felix saw Rainbow fly off into the hills. He couldn't move.

The last thing he felt as a black wave enveloped his vision was the moisture of his blood pooling around his head.
