Stuck as a Filly

Wake Up, Sunshine

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The sun's light rays broke through the "Start swirl the bearded" themed curtains and into the tree-brary hitting the eyelids of a ever so sleepy filly. The sounds of ponies bustling around outside gave a nice feeling, a feeling that can only mean one thing.

It was Saturday. Yes, Saturday. Ponies were bustling in the streets below, wandering around and minding their own business; But this story isn't about them. No, its about me. You know, that filly who is-er... was sleeping but is now groggily rolling out of his bed. Yea, HIS. I managed to snap out of that little trance we had to face last time we met and i'll be sure to make sure it won't happen again. Anyways..

This filly; lets just call him Rain spark is not only male but is also a "legendary myth creature" known as a human. You know, 2 legs, biped and hairless. No its not a gorilla if that's what your thinking they- well, I am a very inte-llige-nt and sen-ti-a-ent creature. Dam my filly mind can't say big words. Anyways, if you wan't to know more about humans then you should talk to Lyra. Seriously, she's crazy for them. Ok if you still want to keep reading i should go back to first person.

I slowly progressed down the hallway. The smell of slightly burn pancakes encouraged me to move on. passing twilight's room and meeting the stairs. Finally waking up officially I descended the stairs into the main library section or the

"Living Room"

"Hello, sweetheart." Twilight sung

I sat down at the dining table without saying anything and waited for my serving. If there is one thing I hate it is when twilight calls me that... sweetheartgarbage.

"You know, the crusaders came by a while ago looking for you." Twilight continued.

I stared up at her and down at my food then back at her.

"Can't you just tell them I'm out or something "sis". I cringed at that word as well. I'm not her sister but she is so convinced I am I just go with it.

I didn't look but i could tell she was looking at me with concern. She's always concerned for me no matter how much trouble i intentionally get myself in.

"You know i can't do that, rain."

"Why not!" I snap

"Because, Your still so young. you should be out their with your friends having fun and trying to find you cutie mark like any other filly is trying to do, right now. Honestly, i have never seen anypony so unenthusiastic about finding their special talent. Haven't i ever told you how i got mi-"

"Yes, yes you did" I cut off.

I get off from the bench, thanked twilight for the food and head for the door.

"Hey, don't leave just yet! do you have homework?"

I turn to her and laugh.

"Do i ever."

"Well, if you don't then i have homework for you: Hang out with the crusaders and tell me about all that happened and don't come back until your done."

"Will do" i say, locking the door behind me.

"wait!"- she cried after me.

After being pulled back, magically into the tree-brary. twilight wouldn't let me leave without getting "presentable" Combing my mane and such. She even made me wear the cape that the crusaders gave me. It was a red linen cape with a patch insignia of a pony. The  fabric itself was expensive and the cape was soft against my back but i still felt humiliated wearing it. yeah, I look "adorable" in twilight's words but. "I prefer wearing nothing at all over this stupid thing.

Finding a perfect moment I manage to make a dastardly escape from the tree-prison. Darting down the streets taking lefts and rights and lefts some more until i was certain she couldn't find me, not that i actually think she was chasing after me. but... having a imagination is cool its kinda fun being a kid again.

Finding my way back onto the main path in the market district. i cam across familiar stands: Asparagus stalls to the left, tomato's to the right. Applejack was manning an apple stand ahead of me. I also caught some familiar faces. Rainbow dash soared through the air not giving me a second look. "Hey squirt" she said while zooming past me.  Reckless flyer if you ask me.

After walking a little further I spotted Fluttershy escorting a family of ducks and ducklings across the busy dirt streets. Streets... you can hardly call it that. I remember when i was one of those "humans" I was telling you about earlier. They.... we... had these vehicles called cars that would serve as a common method of transportation. Here, all they have is horse drawn carts. If you can't afford one or don't want one you can always "hoof it" as they say in ponyville.

Feeling kinda tired I look back and see the Tree-brary in the horizon, "home" I say to myself.

Damn my stubby legs I turn to look ahead of me again. The lack of stalls ahead of me only meant one thing: I was starting to leave the market district and was headed to the Ponyville park.

Let me tell you, Ponyville is huge. Its been about twenty minutes since I was at the library and I am only down a couple blocks.  its gonna take me about another half hour to get to Sweet Apple Acres with these stubbly legs.

"Um... Hello... Rain. are you lost?" A quiet timid voice said from behind me.

I turn around to see my company only to see no one there.

"Um... look up" The timid voice says.

I look down at the shadow and then up at its owner.

"oh hi Fluttershy" I say cheerfully. I like her the most because she reminds me most of how i used to be back when i was a human still.

"Um... Hi, So.... Are you lost i can take you where ever you need to go." She gives me a warming smile of trust and assurance. Honestly, I would rather be her sister any day. actually, if i had a choice I would rather be a boy like usual instead of how I am now. but I have to be stuck with twilight instead. Wait, speaking of sisterly. Its time to use that "premium little filly card" here goes.

"Um yes I am very lost. and a little scared." I say in my best impression of a little kid.

"Oh dear, where were you planning on going anyways? there's nothing further this way. She points a hoof further down the way i was headed.

"There isn't?" i say, slightly shocked.

She looks at me and then further down the road.

"Well there is the Everfree forest just past my house. but I can't let you go there."

I look at her slightly confused.

"Why not?" i cock my head in a look of curiosity.

She was probably expecting that answer for she decided to land down in front of me though she was still taller than me we locked eyes perfectly.

"Now Rain, you have to  understand, the Everfree forest is no place for a filly of your age or of any age for that matter." She leans in closer to me "Its dangerous."

I didn't wan't to go into that any more, basically she just told me about the unnaturalness of the forest, how the weather manages its self and plants grown on their own. Sounds a lot like Earth if you ask me.

"Fluttershy, can I ask of you a favor?" I finally say.

Fluttershy looks at me in confusion. "Of course!, anything for you, just no everfree forest."

I walk up to her and whisper something in her ear as best i can due to the size difference.

Just like that I was soaring through the air on the back of a majestic yellow Pegasus the wind slowing through both of our manes and tails and after almost falling off five times we finally settled for a perfects speed: not to fast as to make me fall off and not to slow as to not get there in time.

After about ten minutes of flying we finally arrive at sweet apple acres.

The acres were just as you could imagine: A large field with rows along rows of trees, apple trees.

I directed Fluttershy to a particular, non-apple tree. This said tree was much larger than the others and was barren of apples but what was most appealing about it was the large tree house that complimented it.

Fluttershy set me down in front of it and flew off leaving me in front of a VERY frilly looking tree house.

What am i getting myself into
