She looked behind her, afraid so, but forced herself to see. Applebloom quickly regretted it, though, as she saw the dead terror of zombies. Ten of them. Right. BEHIND. HER!
Picking up speed, still exhausted, she took a turn and focused on the road before her. It was quite dark, the moonlight a deep blood red, glowing against the Everfree. It was simply disgusting.
It had all started when she had wanted to go with Twilight Sparkle, her friend, to the Everfree forest to visit Zecora. She remembered that she declined, saying it wasn't safe, until after a minute of begging from Applebloom. She took her along into the forest and when they had gotten what they had needed from Zecora and started to head home, Twilight saw a tree in their way. She removed it, but found once again another tree. She told Applebloom to stay put while she worked on it. Applebloom, however, was a curious filly, and followed a mysterious pony into the forest. It was then she went and saw a bright town known as Sunny Town, where everypony was happy. She had done quite enough things there, but had found that everypony had no cutie mark; they didn't know what it was, actually. Applebloom had saw something disgusting in the Everfree forest, too...a murdered pony. Her bones were crooked and in a fire of an abandoned house, and blood had leaked against the floor. It was a horrible sight for a filly her age, and when she returned to Sunny Town, the bloody moon had risen against it and shown its true nature. Now, she was trying to escape from the zombies of Sunny Town, before it was too late...
"Gotta get out, gotta get out!" she muttered to herself, not chancing another look at what was behind her. Steering left and right, she concentrated, quickly stole a horrified glance at the unnaturally colored moon and...
"I--AH!" Applebloom screamed, as she slipped on some dark, slippery mud. Time was being wasted. She tried to balance on her hooves and started up again but...
"Oof!" she flew straight into a zombie. Looking up, horrified, she shuddered.
The zombie were utterly gross, she must admit; this one had peeling skin, and bones hanging in the parts where there were no coat; his clanking teeth had no muzzle skin, as it was also peeling, and no pupils -- just blood red eyes, like the moon. The mane had messy strands and was also red, a little darker. Much like the blood the zombies had a loss of.
And then she blacked out.
