Through the Frozen North

Dear Princess Celestia,

I need food. Water. The ice is too solid to melt, and the blizzard has made the surroundings extremely dry. I'm writing this on a painfully empty stomach, and on my last but of ink. I'm stranded somewhere in the Northern Mountains, and the train that was supposed to take me back to Canterlot has been derailed. I've been near the mountains for a few days now, and I 'm starting to even experience slight tundra mirages.

Please. Send help.

Your Faithful Militant, Shining Armor

Shining Armor looked up from the scroll, coughing out dry air. He levitated the quill back into his small saddlebag, and took the now-raveled message in his mouth. He strained to stand, and when he was on all fours, a few steps forward took him to the edge of the derailed train's passenger car, and he was looking out one of the windows that had been slightly covered with several curtains, many layers put to keep any chill out. The boarding door of the train was sealed shut, and to deliver the message by magic, Armor had to open it for a clear path outside, but consequently let a deathly gust of the blizzard wind into the quite below room-temperature train car.

The large side door to the train slid open with what didn't resemble any ease whatsoever, as Armor strained his leg muscles to open it. And as he did, the angry outside wind tumbled into the cool passenger car with such force that it knocked over any loose things around the room.

Armor wrapped the scarf around his neck, and his muzzle, even tighter, all the while trying to stand against the arctic gust. With a quick toss of the scroll up into the air, and an easy shot of a magic delivery spell, the message burst into an indigo ball of gas, and continued its way outside of the car, and across the tundra.

The blizzard blew hard against the cliff-side of Northern Mountain which the train sat upon, the snow and ice careening against the rock slope, spraying across the frozen tundra. The temperature alone made the landscape inhabitable; the addition of Equestria's harshest blizzard in decades killed any chance of any living thing making it across the Frozen North alive.

Shining Armor couldn't bear to look at the snow storm outside. Instead, he turned away from the window
