Time for a Change

After I took my second bath I went to check out on Pica. I found her sleeping again. As I went downstairs I looked for the book "Dimensional Summons" and flipped to the page where I can find the duplication spell. I quickly went down to the part I didn't get to read.

The duplicate's time depends on the unicorn. The unicorn can increase or decrease the time life of a duplicate. Be warned that the functioning of the duplicate's body may change its functioning by how you treat it. If you summoned it as a lover and treat it as a companion or the other way around. Its body functioning may change as it becomes unstable.

"It's all my fault then." I said to myself. I went upstairs to wake up Pica.

"Oh Pico are we leaving yet?" she asked as she rubbed her eyes.

"Yes we need to buy stuffs for Christmas." she gave me a confused look. "We're just gonna buy some Christmas gift and wrappers." I smiled at her.

"Well okay then." she lost her usual smile. As she got up she asked me "What about the date you promised.".

"I didn't said anything about a date but we could just go on a normal stroll in the park." I suggested. I grabbed my saddle and brought some bits. I saw Pica trying to wear the scarf she bought. "Let me help you with that." I lifted her mane that covers her neck and tied the scarf around her neck."There you look better." I gave her a smile. She didn't respond and just went downstairs. After we got out of the house I looked at her. She lost the usual smile she brings out everyday. "Sorry Pica it's for your own good." I said to myself. As we got to the middle of the town I asked what would she like for Christmas.

"Anything is fine." she answered without any emotion showing.

"Are you sure?" I asked her. She simply nodded "Okay, why don't you buy a gift that you want to give me for Christmas." I gave her 50 bits. "Don't forget to get it gift wrapped." I reminded her. I tried to find a gift that will suit Pica and saw a Christmas hat. As I talked to the shopkeeper and pointed out the Christmas hat. As he wrapped the Christmas hat he started a conversation.

"Is this for your friend." he asked me.

"Not really." I replied.

"How about a special somepony." he chuckled a bit.

"Used to be." I looked away.

"What happened?" he gave me the Christmas hat.

"It's a long story." I grabbed the wrapped Christmas hat.

"Well then I wish you a merry Christmas." I nodded as I walk away.

"Okay then one more gift and then I'm done." I said to myself. After searching for one more gift that I can give to Pica I came across a jewelry stand. I saw a necklace with a heart shaped silver pendant. "How much for this?" I quickly asked the shopkeeper.

"40 bits." she replied.

"Might be too expensive but it will be worth it." I said to myself. As I handed 40 bits to the mare she asked me if I would like it gift wrapped. I nodded.

"I remember when I first received a necklace from a stallion." she said to me.

"You would be a lucky mare." I replied.

"Yeah, but it didn't last as I saw her with another mare." I apologized. "Don't worry it's not your fault." she chuckled. She handed to me the gift wrapped necklace. I walked away as I grabbed the gift.

"Not everypony is happy even on Christmas." I looked at the sky as it felt like it's already 3:00 P.M. I searched for Pica and saw her in the shop where I bought the Christmas hat. As I came closer I noticed that Thunderlane was with her again. "Doesn't that stallion ever give up?" I thought to myself. "Hey Pica are you done?" I asked as I moved to her side.

"Oh hey." she looked away.

"What's wrong?" I asked her.

"Mind if I hang out with Thunderlane for just an hour?" she asked me timidly.

"What about our stroll in the park?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Well uh.." her face is turning red.

"Well it's okay if you don't want to." I smiled at her. "Maybe you can go with Thunderlane." I looked at Thunderlane. "Make sure you don't hurt her or so help me I'm gonna hunt you down." I gave him my aggressive face.

"Yeah sure..." he smiled.

"Just make sure you come home quickly." I reminded Pica. She nodded as she walk away with Thunderlane. After I got home I looked at the clock and noticed it was already 4:00 P.M. "I never should have let her come with Thunderlane." I thought to myself. I left the gifts at the table and went outside to look for Pica and Thunderlane. As I galloped through Ponyvillle a voice called me.

"Hey Pico where are you going?" a tomboyish voice called me. As I turned around I saw a pegasus. She has a cyan colored fur and a rainbow colored mane and tail. "Fluttershy and I was just about to visit Twilight." Rainbow Dash landed on the ground.

"Wait for me Rainbow Dash." another pegasus followed her. She has a yellow fur and a pink colored mane and tail. She was gasping for air. "Why did you rush?" Fluttershy asked Rainbow Dash. "Oh hey Pico." she looked at me.

"Hi and I need to find Thunderlane have you seen him?" I asked both of them.

"We saw him with a mare at the park just a moment ago." they answered in unison.

"Thanks and can you guard Twilight's house for a moment I'll answer both of your questions when I get back." they both nodded. I galloped through the park as fast as I can. "You shouldn't do anything weird Thunderlane." I said to myself.
