U.S.M.C.

Sgt. Glenn

first marine recon detachment.

December 24t, 2135

Outpost Amber, North Korea

Sgt. Glenn lay prone under brush as snow fell on his hideout. The korean mountains were cold and relentless. For the most part his area was silent except for the christmas party raving down two hundred feet behind him. Glenn lowered his rifle on its bi-pod and opened his whiskey flask. He took a swig and muttered "Happy fucking christmas." He lay there in silence thinking to himself, "I could be down there partying right now." The winter wind whipped through the air and sent a chill down his back. "Damn ghille suits dont keep you very warm" He said taking anther swing at his whiskey. "Where is that fool Novak at?" He heard foot steps inch up near by him The foot steps had owner's, more specific owners, Koreans. They walked past the sergeant muttering the most foreign language he had ever heard.

There foot steps grew silent. Glenn peeked behind him and saw the Koreans standing in a line cocking and checking there russian regular rifles. Glenn rose slowley as he un-holstered his g-18. Before he could fire he felt the end of a barrel touching his head. The man was holding a .44 magnum in one hand and a cigar in the other taking a long puff and then blowing it out. In almost perfect english the man said "You feel lucky american, now drop the gun on the ground." He said before taking another puff from his cigar. Glenn was out of options so he slowley kneeled down and placed his fire arm on the snow covered ground. The man let out a small laugh in his now short termed victory. Glenn swung his left arm knocking the magnum out of the man's hand, then Glenn took his right hand and un-sheathed his ka-bar and stabbed it into the man's jugular spilling crimson red blood over the pure white snow. Glenn stood upstrait letting the body fall backwards and back down the mountain side. Glenn quickly cleaned his ka-bar in the snow and turned his attention to the other koreans who were now gone. "Where did you go, you sneaky bastards." His answer was soon answered by the sounds of screaming and gun fire. "Shit!" he yelled as he ran back to his sniper position and picked up his sniper rifle, and looking down his sights towards the camp. His luck had just run out a freak blizzard blew through the mountain side. He had no way of telling who was who, his scope didnt have thermal optics, he and every one else down there was screwed. Raising his rifle once more he looked through his scope and picked a target. Fire... fire... fire...BANG.

One year later........

Sergeant Glenn stood in a white hall way. "Prisoner 01683, step forward" a masculine voice said over the inter-com followed by a buzz and a metal barred gate rolling open. A gaurd came through the door way wearing a grey uniform with a black tie, and a black hat. With a voice of gargling marbles came from the gaurd "lets go shit head." Glenn walked forward with the sound of chains moving with each step. He marched through the door and was given an extra push from the gaurd. "someone wants to see you." the gaurd said as they walked into another room. The room had a black see through glass wall and a silver rectangular table in the middle. The gaurd gave Glenn another push towards a chair, then said "sit down." Glenn looked at the gaurd walking to a corner of the room and then turned his attention to the black glass infront of him. He sat there in silence for a couple of minutes. The buzzing came back on and the sound of the door opening and then closing again. Glenn kept his attention forward waiting for the warden to sit at the opposite side of the table. But he never came, instead he had a manilla folder fly over his shoulder spilling some of its contents. It showed the man he shot with a bullet hole spilling a stream of blood that led to a pool of it beneath his head. Glenn looked up and said in a monotone voice "I have already seen these pictures." A dry laugh came from athe man behind him. "I know sergeant, that is what i'm here to talk to you about."

Glenn let out a sigh. " So what are you here for, to keep me in here longer?" Glenn asked. The man laughed once more "Not in the very least good sir, i'm simply here to offer you a deal. A deal that will set you free and do a great service to your country." Glenn chuckled " I didnt know that makin' deals with the devil was good for my country." The man made two loud steps towards Glenn from behind and pulled his chair back, so Glenn could see him. His black tie touched Glenn's head and the man's eyes were covered by dark glasses. "Listen here you piece of shit you can either accept this deal or die in this hell hole of a prison!" the man pushed the chair forward letting Glenn regain a proper position in his chair. The man walked around half way across the table and leaned forward putting his hands down and his tie drop a bit. " So what will it be sergeant?" Glenn let out a smirk.

Salt Lake City space port

2:00 a.m.

Glen stood out on the landing pad acompanied by two federal agents. One walked up to Glenn's right and tapped him on the shoulder "Alright sergeant Captain Akmann of the U.S.S. Gordon has agreed to transport you to your destination, under his terms though, so be respectful that your getting a second chance." Glenn looked to his right and said "I'll try my best." The sound of jet engines came across the tarmac. "Looks like your ride is here." one of the feds said. The tiger striped V-23 touched down with ease spreading dust and dirt around the craft. The back ramp dropped down and two navy men stepped out in black uniforms and holding xm8's. "Sergeant this way please." one motioned waveing his hand to come here. Glenn walked to the air craft and boarded it and the navy men fell in behind him. Glenn sat down as the navy man strapped him in. then he backed away and took his own seat. The V-23 shook as it took off from the landing pad. The navy man noticed the way Glenn was reacting to the osprey flying. He laughed "What you never been in one of these babys before sergeant?" Glenn looked at him and replied "No I have been in one, just not when its going to outer space."

A red light filled the compartment signaling they have entered space. The engines grew louder and Glenn could feel the bird move faster. It wasent long before the osprey slowed and the red light turned to blue notifying they have entered a hanger bay. The osprey landed once again with ease and the engines started to die down. One navy man stood up preparing to open the ramp door. While the other one was busy unstrapping Glenn from his seat. The man ordered Glenn to place his arms behind his back. He then placed Glenn in hand cuffs. The navy man at the door opened the hatch letting in the white lights of the hanger bay. "Damn thats bright." Glenn thought to him self. The hanger showed men and women going about their buisiness, paying no attention to the new comer on board. The two men led Glenn to his sleeping quarters. It was a solid steel door with a sliding window for food.Glenn looked inside and saw a thin matress on a steel framed bed with very thin blankets. to his left was a steel toilet and sink. Glenn sighed and looked at the navy man "Still like prison, huh?" The navy man laughed and replied "Sorry sergeant captain says no rest for the weary. "He then pushed Glenn in and locked the door behind him. Glenn looked over his shoulder and yelled "Well fuck you too, you prick!" Glenn sighed and threw himself on the bed and thought to himself "This is going to be a long trip."

It has been a long month and Glenn's destination was one day away. He was all alone for a month except for the ocassional gaurd that would give him his food. He sat there in silence before a loud buzz interupted it. A gaurd walked in and stood with a clipboard. He was looking through the sheets of paper checking off stuff as he went through. He cleared his throught and put the clipboard down to his side. "Sergeant Glenn you are to follow me to the labratory for a briefing on your mission." Glenn stood up and stretched and followed the gaurd out of his cell. They walked down the hallways of the ship passing by marines and navy men alike. The two took a left in the fairly large hallway only to be stopped by a sliding door that beared O.N.I's insignia on it. The gaurd pressed a couple buttons and the door split in two revealing a big labratory. The gaurd pointed inside as he scribbled more on his clipboard. Glenn walked in and the doors hissed shut behind him. He leaned forward and looked from his left to his right and asked "Hello anyone there?" What sounded like a pencil dropping then came a sweet femamine voice said "Ah sergeant i've ben expecting you." that was followed by many scoots of a rolling chair. Out came a beautiful woman. Dark brown hair that was in a bun with some hair hanging infront of her golden eyes. She stood up and made way for greetings. "I am Veronica, I work for O.N.I. and you are part of my little science expieriment." She said with haist. Glenn looked at her with a his eyebrow raised. "Science.. expieriment?" Glenn asked. Veronica looked at him and went "hmmm..mmm."

She then sat down back in her chair and drank her coffee out of a white mug. She scooted to the left and pressed a red button. The steel walls lifted and revealed the blue hyper space bubble moving around the ship. The intercom came on announcing "prepare for slip space entry." Veronica had a smug look on her face. "You may want to take a seat." Glenn did as he was told and took a seat seconds before the ship came out of slip space. Below Glenn could see a planet with a teal hue atmosphere with alot of gas arms extending from the atmosphere. Glenn stood up and looked out the window. Veronica chuckled.

"Welcome to planet Xiophous sergeant."
