It was a warm and sunny day in Ponyville. All of the ponies were doing their usuall thing, wether it be Derpy messing up another mail order, or seeing a few clouds that Rainbow Dash missed. Fluttershy was just waking up at 8:03 A.M. from her peaceful slumber when she realized she was up a few minutes later than usual. She shrugged and continued on with her day as normal. She fed the animals their breakfast, Angel the bunny threw a carrot at her and broke a cup. She wasn't too happy about that. Fluttershy then tended to the lush vegetable garden in the back of her yard. It was about 11:00 A.M. When she finished, and decided to take a walk in the valleys by the Everfree forest.

She had noticed that the Daffodils were just blooming, it being Spring and all. She bent over to sniff it and she heard a squeak, but it wasn't from her. Instead it was from the Stallion behind her. She then realized that she was probably in someone's back yard, so she turned around quickly and said shyly "I-I'm sorry... I didn't m-mean to trespass..." And then she stopped to see me, a Stallion with a  dark brown coat and night blue mane. My cutie mark is  a red plus sign, like what a paramedic has, with a pink heart behind it. My eyes are blue as the night, with a sparkle to them. I had on my brown leather saddlebag. I said to Fluttershy "I'm so sorry to scare you like that... It's just that you seemed to like those daffodils. I'm Soft Stitch by the way." Fluttershy started to get less scared as she looked up from her hooves and said "I'm Fluttershy." "Nice to meet you, Fluttershy," I replied. I then asked if she would like to take some of the sprouts so she could have her own daffodils, and she accepted them. I offered to plant them at her house, and she agreed. So we set off to her house.

When we got there, I pulled a shovel out of my saddlebag and started working. A few minutes later and there were a few young plants in the front of her yard, as asked. Fluttershy walked up to me and started to say "Thank you," but she stopped at "Thank," and looked at me with a dazed look on her face. I quickly realized that we were both blushing a lot, so I said "Goodbye" and headed home. When I got to my house in the valley, all I could think about was that pink-maned pegasus. So I took it upon myself to visit her every day after work.

The next morning I awoke from my straw bed and went to the kitchen. My house is one story, four rooms, and outdoor restroom, so it's not as luxurious as some of the houses like Fluttershy's. It's simple, with a countertop, chairs, and a sink, but that's not important. I would live like this, no matter what I have. So I got ready to go to the library because Spike has a fever.

I began my route to Ponyville, and passing by Fluttershy's house. You could hear her sing her usual songs as she did her morning routine. I was at the door of the library and Twilight Sparkle practically jumped out of the door at me. She said to me "Thank goodness you're here, I think that he's dying." I noticed that she was extremely overreacting because Spike was sitting up on her couch, sipping tea, and occasionally coughing. Not dying. So I said to her "Calm down, he just has a fever. A little bit of Tylenol and some rest, and he'll be good as new tomorrow." So I gave him the pill, Twilight said "Thanks," and I started home to wait for another house call.

Fluttershy just got done with feeding the ferrets when she saw me walking along the dirt road to my house. She stopped her work and started following me by flying behind me without being noticed. When I reached my house, I just noticed that I was being followed, so I turned around as fast as I could, ready to give a big swing. I soon realized that it was just the beautiful Pegasus named Fluttershy. She said to me " I didn't mean to be a snoopy pony..... but I wanted to see you again." I said to her "Okay, come in for some tea ... if you want to."

I took my saddlebag off and started boiling the tea. We were sitting in my living room next to the window and she was sipping on her tea quietly when I asked her "So, how was your day?" Fluttershy then began telling me what she was doing this morning, about the carrot that her pet rabbit, Angel, threw and broke a cup, and everything up till she was following me. I was nodding my head and saying what was propriate for the situation. I  was talking very little compared to how much Fluttershy was, and I really don't mind. I know that she is usually timid and nervous, but around me, she's a loving spirit that talks a lot around me. I then in turn told her about my visit with Spike at the library, and hearing her sing. Fluttershy  blushed when I tried to compliment her, and kept telling me "Oh was it that good? I didn't think it was." and I said to her "Don't be so modest. You have a beautiful voice." I began to turn crimson on my cheeks. A long, awkward silence lasted a few minutes between us, and Fluttershy finally broke the silence. "It's getting dark, and I need to tuck Angel in. Would you mind walking me home?" I stood there for a minute and said "I wouldn't rather do anything else."

That night I couldn't sleep. I just laid down and looked up at the ceiling, thinking about the sweetest, most beautiful pony I've ever seen. I actually think that I might have a serious crush on the pink maned Pegasus, and I'm going to tell her tomorrow. So I just acted out how it was going to happen all night until I finally fell asleep at about 2 in the morning.

The next morning, I was up boiling oats, getting ready for the next day when a walleyed mail woman showed up at my door, with a letter for me. It was from Fluttershy! I opened the letter and it said this:

Dear Soft Stitch,

I hate to bother you in the early hours of the morning, but I'm sure that you're awake already. I was wondering if you wanted to come over here to join me in the annual Butterfly Migration, since Rainbow Dash couldn't attend. Not that I wouldn't invite you as well if she came along, that is. Please bring something warm to wear, so you don't catch a cold.

                                                                                                                Sincerely yours,

                                                                                                                            Fluttershy

I read the note twice over to make sure that this was real. A "date" with Fluttershy! What could be better that this? Celestia herself couldn't bring more joy to the entire land of Equestria that compares to what I'm experiencing right now. That whole day, I just waited to see if anyone was going to call me, and no one did, which added to the anticipation of the afternoon that was about to take place. It was about 5 minutes to 5 o' clock and I was about to put my sweater on when suddenly the phone rang. I walked over to the phone and picked it up. It was Fluttershy. She said "Did you accept my invitation? You don't have to go if you don't want to." I told her "I wouldn't miss it for the world. I was just about to go out anyways. I'll see you when I get there." "Oh, okay. Goodbye then, Soft Stitch." "Goodbye, Fluttershy," I said. I put on my sweater, grabbed my saddlebag, and was out the door heading to Fluttershy's cottage.

When I arrived, she was sitting on the front porch wearing a brown sweater with a few birds on the top of her head, singing a beautiful melody. I decided it was best not to call out her name, because I would scare the birds. So I silently walked up to her front porch, and the birds didn't notice. Fluttershy was resting her eyes, so I gently poked her. She did the most adorable squeaking sound you could ever utter, and leaped behind me. I was confused because I was the one who poked her, and she still chose to hide behind me. I realized that Fluttershy was terrified, so I said to her "Are you alright? I didn't mean to scare you." She calmed down after a moment and said "Oh, I'm alright. I just didn't expect you here this soon." And with that, we were off to the spot.

It was a dug out trench with a few burn spots that was apparently from a baby dragon named Spike. We were sitting on a few logs that I decided to bring along to use as chairs. Not the best thing I thought, but what else did we need. It was starting, and man was it beautiful. Monarch butterflies were everywhere. Purples and blues, reds and pinks, oranges and greens, everywhere you could just see every color imaginable. Fluttershy says to me "This is beautiful don't you think?" Okay, I thought. My time to confess to her. So I sucked up all of my courage and replied "Not as beautiful as you." I blushed, and she did too as she just watched me look away at the ground somewhere. I thought 'What if she didn't want a relationship with me besides friends? What if she doesn't want to be my friend anymore? What if she doesn't-' And I stopped thinking as I looked down and saw a canary yellow Pegasus' lips touching my own. The emotions going through my head were confusion, and then pure joy. And then it hit me. I want to be with this Pegasus for the rest of my life.

We were just standing now, looking at the ground away from each other. The migration was over now, and we had just finished getting the trench cleaned up. Our cheeks redder than apples from Sweet Apple Acres, and I was just lost in my thoughts. She finally broke the silence, "Soft Stitch, do you want to do this again sometimes?" I looked at her with my most caring expression and said "There's nothing I'd rather be doing. How about tomorrow at 6:00 P.M.?" She replied "Oh.... that sounds nice. Thank you." So I walked her back to her lovely cottage, only to be greeted by a bite from her favorite pet, Angel. For some reason, it reminded me of a time back in the war and began to remember it. It was back in the warmer months where all of the soldiers began cutting the sleeves off to cool ourselves down. I was sitting in our trench when suddenly shots rang off and one of them went through the ground and nicked me in the ankle. It stopped bleeding, but it burned like a fire.

I suddenly snapped out of it and Fluttershy was looking at me with a worried look and said "Are you alright? That scared me for a minute, there." I said to her "I didn't mean to scare you, it's just that your pet reminded me of some memories.... " So she walked into her cottage and almost closed the door until she looked outside and noticed how dark it is outside, and she became frightened for me, so she offered "W-would you like to c-come in? It's awful dark outside, and it's dangerous at night. I took barely a millisecond to think about it and said "There's nothing I'd rather do."

The inside of her cottage is built for a small Pegasus animal caretaker, and not a larger pony such as myself. It felt as if I was going to break anything I touched. So I was as cautious as possible. Fluttershy gestured me to her own bed, and I was confused. So I asked her "Where are you gonna sleep?" She again pointed to her bed and I blushed a lot. 'Was she thinking of her and I sleeping in the same bed?' I never knew she liked me in that way. I began to sweat on my forehead as she assured me that it was just the matter of not having another cot for me to rest on. 'I'll get one for her,' I thought in my head. So we both headed into the room and closed the door...
