Chapter 3: Apologies and Clarifications
Quick note: Sorry for the fast chapter. I had a huge writing block. I wrote as I was able to do so. Hope you like it!
The yellow mare was flying around in a snowstorm that started wildly. It was out of the schedule of the Weather Team, and was making traffic impossible by any manner. The visibility was horrible, and the only sounds to be heard were Fluttershy’s calling and a raging wind.
She saw a blue blur, and followed it. “Rainbow Dash!” she screamed as loud as she could. “Rainbow! Where are you?” A big hailstone hits her right wing and she loses flight course, making her fall. Her vision was getting blurry and she was almost accepting a certain death, until she was caught by something. The mare saw a multi colored mane underneath her and collapsed.
She woke up in a cloud house. Rainbow’s cloud house. A tea cup was at her left, and she was lying down on the couch. A cyan mare came from the kitchen, sits at her side and stares at her. Fluttershy closed her eyes, and started faking her sleep, to see how her friend was going to react. The other pegasus smiled and passed her hoof over the yellow mare’s mane. A sip of her tea and a sigh “You are really cute when you fake your sleep.”
The yellow pegasus opens her eyes. “Was it that obvious?” she asks with a small blush.
“A little bit. I have to ask you something.”
“Yes?”
“What the BUCK were you doing flying in a storm like this one?!”
“I… I was searching for you… I was worried, and I needed to talk to you…” Fluttershy said defensively “Why the sudden aggressive tone?” she thought.
The cyan mare gives a stern look at Fluttershy, and offers her a cup of tea with one of her wings. The yellow one tries to reach it with her right wing, but flinches and lets out a quiet “ouch”.
“This is what you get for searching for me in a completely wild and random storm like that.” Rainbow said with a reprehensive tone “I’ll get that taken care of for you.”
The yellow mare stared at her wing, while the cyan one went to a nearby closet and took out of it, a first aid kit. She trots back at the couch and sit next to Fluttershy, checking how bad the injury was. “You’re lucky this was superficial. You could’ve broken it” Rainbow commented, taking a few bandages and a green mixture from the kit. Fluttershy flinched again while Dash’s hooves touched her wing, spreading the mixture and wrapping the bandages over it.
“Well, that’s all I can do. You should check Nurse Redheart later.” Rainbow recommended. She stared at Fluttershy’s eyes. Those beautiful blue eyes. The cyan pegasus relaxed, and let out a small grin. She then suddenly kissed Fluttershy. The latter widened her eyes. What the hay was Rainbow doing?! Fluttershy tried to get away and say something, but Rainbow’s tongue was in the way. She pushed her away, and got up in all fours. “What are you doing?” she asked, trying to keep her composure.
“I was kissing you deeply, until you pushed me.” The cyan mare answered with the obvious, grinning.
“Don’t you think this is wrong?”
“What? Because we are both mares?”
“No, because I have a coltfriend.” Fluttershy used a more serious tone.
Rainbow lost her grin. “Oh, yeah. What’s the big idea with him?”
“Well, I love him, and he loves me back. I think that’s enough, don’t you?” She answered, getting a little bit irritated.
“Yeah, how about me? We know each other for YEARS! You met him 2 weeks ago, and you are already being humped!”
“Hey! That’s not true! We didn’t do that yet! And about you? I always looked up to you as a friend, the best I had, how am I supposed to know you want something else if you don’t tell me anything!” She was breathing heavily, anger getting up to her. That wasn’t good.
“I was going to, I just didn’t had enough courage. When I finally decided to do it, was already too late. So, yeah. I…” Rainbow looked down, holding back a few tears.
The yellow mare calmed down at the sight. Rainbow Dash was… crying? She noticed she pushed her too far, and tears started forming on her own eyes. “I am the worst friend anypony could have… How can I be the Element of Kindness?” she started crying “Rainbow, I am so sorry. For everything. For the things I did now, and any other pain or problem I gave you in the past. I am so… sorry…” the mare couldn’t speak anything else. Her throat was getting dry, and the tears started streaming down her cheeks.
“Flutter… shy?” Rainbow looked up, seeing the destroyed pegasus in front of her “Please… don’t cry…” she walked up to her friend, putting a wing over her “It’s not your fault. I was being an ass, ok? I broke down, no problem, I can get over it!” She said, trying to smile.
Both pegasi were laying at each other’s side, crying together, until both fell asleep.
Something was poking her side. She looked up, trying to open her eyes without feeling the pain of the bright sunlight getting through the window. When she was able to do so, she saw it was Rainbow Dash having one of her wild dreams, fluttering her wing, poking her with it. Fluttershy looked outside the window. It was cloudy, but the sun shone through. She thought about waking her friend, but seeing she was finally in peace, the yellow one decided not to bother. Memories from the last night came back into her head, bringing her bad feels. Her friendship with Rainbow Dash was never going to be the same again. She tried thinking about good things, to change her mood, bring her back up. Thoughts about Johan and the good times they had and were going to have, thoughts about cute kittens. Feeling better, the mare didn’t wanted to get up from the fluffy cloud floor, but going against her will to stay, she got up and went inside the kitchen to make a few pancakes. She ate two and left ten for Rainbow, because the latter had the hunger of a thousand beasts when finally awake. Before leaving and going back to town, a note was written, to warn her dearest friend of the breakfast inside the fridge and Fluttershy’s whereabouts.
She went outside, stepping in a few clouds. She started to unwrap the bandages, taking them slowly. The pegasus stretched her wings, and tried to fly a few times. The mare was able to use her right wing again. Rainbow’s mixture had effect, healing the wing faster than usual. She flew towards Ponyville, and landed near the town square, where ponies were throwing accusations at each other.
“I KNOW ITS THEIR FAULT!” screamed an angry mare from the crowd.
“It wasn’t our fault! How many times do we have to say that?!” said a familiar, and irritated voice. It was Johan.
Fluttershy trotted to Johan’s side, giving him a quick peck in the cheek “What’s going on?”
Trying to take the grin out of his face from the display of affection, Johan explained “These crazy ponies are accusing us of bringing yesterday’s storm, when we have nothing to do with it!”
“Its obviously your fault, northern scum!” said a brown earth pony, with a black mane. He was buying a fight.
“You are pleading for me to rip your bucking heart out…” Johan was losing composure.
“Now, now. Calm down everypony. What’s goin’ on?” The Element of Honesty arrived.
“These barbarians destroyed a few homes, and hurt ponies with their storm!”
“Damnit, It wasn’t us. How many times do I HAVE to say that?!”
Applejack was analyzing Johan’s face. He was truly angry, but he was being honest. The Vikings had nothing to do with the storm. “What Johan says is true. It wasn’t them.”
“How can you tell, huh?” the brown one asked.
“Ah’m the Element of Honesty. Ah can tell if somepony is lyin’ or tellin’ the truth. And in this case, Johan’s being honest.” The cowpony declared “On the other hoof, you are being insecure, and anypony can see it. So Ah would advise ya to step back, and go your own way. Actually, why don’t we all do it? Move around, nothing to see.”
Everypony started leaving the town square. The Vikings went back to their farms and market stalls, and the Ponyville inhabitants went back to their homes, or went buying things from the merchants. The brown pony was not going to give up. He turned his back, defeated, but he would be back. Fluttershy nuzzled Johan’s neck. “Well, that was unexpected… Glad everything went okay.”
“Yeah, they were going to buy themselves a fight. One they were going to lose, certainly” the Viking said with a grin.
“Well, lets go somewhere else. I’ve been thinking about going on another date.” She said with a small grin and a seductive, yet shy, glare.
Johan smiled “You choose. Where are we going to, milady?” He asked with a bow.
“Oh, um…” that was unexpected “how about a romantic dinner in a restaurant? There’s a very good prench one near Sugar Cube Corner. We can dine there! If… you want to…” she added, hiding behind her mane a little.
The stallion smiled “You look adorable when you do that.” Fluttershy blushed “Well, I’m not very good with all those fork types for everything and all, but I think I can try. For you.” With that said, a kiss was given (and happily returned by the mare), and Johan was off to meet Pelle, to check the production of armor and weapons. Fluttershy went to check up on Rarity and tell her the news.
