Interlude: Rainbow’s New Friend

A loud snoring was echoing in the empty house. The sun was now hidden behind the clouds, and a small (and scheduled) snow started falling. Rainbow Dash rolled around on the floor, still dreaming wildly. “No Daring Do! It’s a TRAP!” She hit the cupboard and woke up. Scratching her head and yawning, she came back to the real world. Fluttershy wasn’t at sight, but in her place, a note was found.

“Rainbow Dash,

I have made pancakes for breakfast. I decided not to wake you up, you seemed to be having a nice dream, so I didn’t wanted to end it earlier. The pancakes are in the fridge, hope you like them! I am headed towards Ponyville, so take care!

Fluttershy”

The mare found the pancakes, and ate all of them in a few seconds. She burped loudly, and patted her stomach, grinning. Looking outside, the pegasus thought if she should go back to sleep, but discarded the idea, putting on a black wool cap and going outside, to do some quick flights over the streets of Ponyville. When approaching Carousel Boutique, she noticed a mare was watching her fly from below. Rainbow landed in front of her. “Are you a fan or something?”

The earth pony giggled “Nope. Am I supposed to be one?”

“Well, It’s been a while since somepony watched me fly with no reason at all.”

“Oh, but I have a reason.” The mare said, grinning.

“Spit it out.”

“I was noticing you are stunningly beautiful.” Rainbow widened her eyes. At the sight the earth pony laughed “Hahaha, oh your face! Let me introduce myself. My name is Idun.” She said, with a quick bow.

“Erm, Rainbow Dash, at your service.” The pegasus said regaining composure.

“At my service, eh? Well, let’s have a drink! Get to know each other!” Idun invited. Rainbow agreed with a nod.

Idun opened the bar doors. The hot air and random conversations hit both mares, and they entered the bar, heading towards the counter. The Viking mare sit first, waving a hoof the the bartender. Rainbow Dash sat right next to her. When the bartender came, Idun asked for a big mug of mead, recently taught by a few Vikings.

“So, what’s your poison?” the bartender asked Rainbow Dash.

“Hm...” the rainbow maned mare was thinking if she should drink alcohol. After all she was an athlete, chasing her dream of being a Wonderbolt. “Ah, buck it. Give me the hardest cider you have!”

“Secret Apple Family Reserve it is!” and the bartender left, to get the bottle from the cellar.

“Huh, special drink for special occasion?” Idun asked.

“I just need to drown some sorrows.” She answered bitterly.

The bartender came back, with a bottle in one hoof, and a wooden mug on another. He served the drink “Leave the bottle” Rainbow demanded. Idun turned to her, smiled and but her mug up high. “Cheers, Rainbow Dash!” Rainbow hit her mug on Idun’s and killed her drink in one gulp “Cheers.”

“I don’t understand – hick – how can she be with a stallion like him, ya know? – hick” Rainbow drunkly said to her new friend.

“Johan has his charms. If I wasn’t into mares, I would’ve slept with him a looong time ago.” Idun commented, giving a sip of her drink.

“Well, I don – hick – ‘t understand anyway.” The pegasus killed her twentieth mug.”You know, the – hick – re’s a fine song for – hick – this situation!” She started singing an old, romantic song, doing a drunken version of it. “When maaaaaaaaaaaaaares like heee – hick – eeeeeeer, end up with stallions li – hick – ke hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiim, my heeeeart starts cryyyyyyyyyyyy – hick – ying! and I forgot theeeem lyrics! HICK!”

“Oh damn, I think you are done for today.” The Viking said.

“Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? I’m compleeeetely fi – hick – ine!”

“I don’t think so. Come on, I’ll pay for you.” Idun left a sack of bits on the counter, grabbed Rainbow’s tail between her teeth and started pulling her out of the bar.

The pegasus kept yelling and singing all the way to Idun’s home. She built it in one night, with a few materials. It wasn’t a big home, but it was enough to endure a few months. Idun dropped Rainbow on her couch. She left to take some water, and when she was back, her pegasus friend was found trying to pick up a bottle of mead from a shelf. She was using a stool to get the bottle. One of the stool’s legs broke, and Rainbow started falling. Idun ran, dolphin dived and was able to catch Rainbow Dash in mid air.

“Oh… I’m sorry.” The pegasus had sobered up from the scare.

“No problem, I think.” Idun said.

Both mares stayed there, staring at each other. Idun decided to make her move. She leaned forward, putting her right hoof at Rainbow’s side. She pulled herself closer to the pegasus, their muzzles were almost touching, their breaths were accelerated, the earth pony leaned closer, kissing Rainbow passionately. The pegasus submitted to the kiss, and returned it slowly. Idun pushed Rainbow to the floor, and got over her. “So, ready for some fun?” the Viking asked.

“Please” Rainbow pleaded.

Idun kissed the pegasus again, and started playing with her new friend. Rainbow gasped with pleasure. That night was one she wasn’t going to forget so soon.

Johan was walking around the farms and houses built by his fellow Vikings. It was a cold morning, and he was searching for his friends. Fluttershy was at his side, trotting happily. She seemed to be a lot more confident and alive since Johan became her coltfriend. Johan approached Idun’s home, but before he was able to call her, he heard a voice.

“So, how did you liked your night?” it was Idun. She probably had some fun last night he tought with a grin.

“Uuuuuuuuuuuuuugh.” The other pony moaned “We should do this again soon, you’re good.” Said a familiar voice. He heard a gasp from behind him. When he turned, he met a stunned Fluttershy. His face already made the question to the mare. “It’s Rainbow Dash!” the yellow mare said with a smile.

“Well, whenever you like, cutie.”

Johan hold back a huge laugh. Idun never said “cutie” or anything like it in front of her friends. They heard hoofsteps and the Viking pegasus pulled his fillyfriend behind a few barrels. Rainbow Dash got out of the house stretching her wings, Idun right behind her. “Well, we can do this all day everyday, huh?” Rainbow said with a grin.

“Hah, I would love to. But I have to do some work to do. How about you meet me here again around eight?” Idun proposed.

“I’m fine with it. See ya.” The pegasus kissed her friend, adjusted her cap on her head and took flight. Idun smiled, sighed and went back inside her house.

Johan’s head popped up from behind the barrels, when he noticed everypony was gone, he laughed as much as he was able to. Erik wouldn’t believe it.

Author's Note

Quick interlude. I needed to write something else. Also, it might look rushed. It is, you're right. I'm sorry about that too. Hope you enjoyed it!
