Blazes last stand

“What the buck are you doing here, Vinetion! I thought I told you and the rest of the elements to buck off a long time ago. I wanted nothing to do with ya.”

“Oh come now, Blaze. I just want to talk.”

“Bull shit! What makes you think I would believe you?”

“Dad, what’s going on?” Vinyl said, hiding behind Blaze, fear etched across her face. She had never seen her father this upset.

“Vinyl, I want you to go back home. We are in her domain.” Blaze said with a calm, assertive voice.

Vinyl began to protest, but Blaze silenced her with a glance. She then made haste for the nearest bush and dove into it.

“What do you want, Vine?” He said, stomping his front right hoof. Magma started to seep up from the ground slowly, crawling up his legs.

“Oh, I'm just here for a friendly chat.” Vine said with a mischievous smile.

“Bull honkey. I want the truth.”

“Fine. I'm here to take you back, or kill you trying.”

“Fine. Then you’ll have to fight to the death. I am not going back to those power hungry fools.”

“You heretic! I will kill you myself!”

“Dare to try!”

By this time the magma had completely surrounded him, cooling to form obsidian armor, separating and forming around each limb and section of his body. Spikes formed atop his head and started to travel down his back. Demonic horns twisted into ram-like fashion. Plates formed around his face, with two black eye-holes letting forth an eerie blood-red glow. His hooves got a extra bit of reinforcement, having three one-inch claws sticking out of each hoof. Lava flowed in between the crevices of the plates.

“Fine!” Vinetion slammed both of her hooves into the ground. Vines shot out from her hooves, wrapping around her body to form a strong yet flexible armor, with long razor-sharp thorns sticking out of the shoulder plates. From her right shoulder, another vine plunged into the ground to pull out a five-foot curved blade.

Blaze smirked and stomped both of his hooves, igniting them in a torrent of deadly flame. With another stomp two boulders exploded out of the ground. With a roar the ground shook. Arms and legs began to come out of the boulders. They pushed the main part of the boulder out of the ground, and a head formed out of the top. Two rubies served as eyes and a massive maw opened up. The two beasts let out a ear-splitting roar.

Vinyl cringed at the noise that the beasts made, and just stared in awe as she watched the two pegasi get ready for battle.

Vine made the first move and charged with the sword bare, ready to slice through anything in her way. Pillars of rock began to jut out, trying to skewer the charging mare.

In Blaze’s peripheral vision he saw some kind of serpent moving along. It wasn't just any serpent; it was Vine’s pet dragon. The dragon was plant-based in nature, with similar powers of nature. He directed his two golems to distract the serpent, focusing himself back to the god of nature, mother Earth herself: Vinetion.

Vinetion was starting to get annoyed with all the pillars she had to dodge. She never thought she would have to face her lifelong friend like this, but he left her no choice. Something about protecting the innocents and holding up our original oath. What was our original oath? In her distracted mind she took a right when she should have taken a left and ran face first into a pillar. “Dammit, focus, he’s a traitor, not your friend anymore.” In a mild fit of rage she slammed her sword into the pillar, demolishing it in the process. She leapt over the rubble of the demolished pillar and lunged at Blaze, who skillfully stepped to the side and blocked with his right hoof. The blade just glanced off, burying itself into the ground below.

In one smooth motion Blaze turned on a dime and bucked, landing both rear hooves square into Vine’s face, sending her into a pillar behind her.

“Ow, I see that your hoof is still your dominant weapon. Well played. This will be harder than I thought.” She said, sneering.

Before Blaze could reply, Vine lunged at him with a hard left hook, then tackled him. They rolled on the ground, exchanging punches, kicks, and jabs. Blaze managed to give a heavy kick to Vine’s gut, sending her off him. She took to the air, and spread her wings, which emitted a burst of energy.

The next thing Blaze knew was that the forest was coming alive. Vines shoot at him from all angles, which he dodged with ease. The few vines that did touch him burned to ashes. He looked down, noticing that his golems getting ripped apart. He also saw Vinyl hugging a tree branch for dear life. It broke his heart to see his daughter so scared, and helpless. With a renewed vigour to protect her, he flew straight towards Vine. He plowed right into her. She landed in a dense bundle of clouds. He sat up, giving her a right then a left and repeat. With each hit from his hooves he left scorch marks from the flame emanating from his hooves. After a good number of hits, with Vine trying to block what she can, a vine sprouted from her armor and wrapped itself around Blaze’s neck and pulled him back. Vine dove off the cloud, pulling Blaze with her. The two headed straight for the ground below at break neck speeds. Vine pulled up, breaking the vine and sending Blaze to impact the ground with a heavy echoing. *THUD*

“You could have just came with me and none of this would have happened!” Vine yelled while watching the dust clear. She saw a shadow move in the clearing. “Are you serious! You can’t win. What are you fighting for?” The shadow appears to be coming straight towards her. “Oh no you don’t!” With a wave of her hoof vines shoot up towards Blaze and snare him in mid air. Flapping his wings desperately to get to Vine.

“Give up! What are you fighting for, that you’d give your life so willingly?” Vine said, trying to figure her old friend out.

“I fight for the innocent and the one I love!” Blaze yelled back, still struggling with the plants that were holding him back.

“The one you love? You mean that filly that called you dad? Who in their right mind would buck you? You'd probably burn them beyond recognition.”

“I bucked no one.”

“OOOOH I never imagined that you could impregnate yourself. OOOOH this is interesting!”

“What?! No, I adopted her.”

“You adopted her? Really? So you’ve changed. Settling down and trying to have a family. Well I have news for you: IT DOESN'T WORK FOR US LIKE THAT! We are the elements that made this world. We outlive all, except Celestia and Luna. We are not meant to be with normal ponies. Now where is that filly?”

“YOU FUCKING TOUCH HER AND I’LL TURN YOU TO ASH! YOU HEAR ME!!”

“Heh, right.” Vine scoffed.

With that Blaze’s eyes filled with pure energy and hate. What was left of his armor crumbled off him as he erupted in a torrent of flames so intense that it’d give the fires of hell a run for its money. The vines holding him back started to explode as pure energy rushed through them. A mass of burning plant matter fell to the earth below. Blaze slammed into Vine with enough force to shatter the very doors to the Canterlot castle. The two immortal pegasi plummet into the meadow not too far from where Vinyl hid.

A mesh of vines tried to lasso the flaming pony. While he exchanged punches with Vine, one of the vines managed to pull him off of Vine, who got up and quickly spun and delivered a solid buck to Blaze’s chest, sending him into the pond behind him. Steam erupted from where the submerged pony was, and the entire pond started to boil from the intense heat emanating from the fire based pony. Blaze tried to struggle out of the pond, being not one for water. With a wave of Vine’s hoof, multiple vines pulled the wet pony from the still boiling pond.

“Oh look who got himself all wet, I thought it was only us females that got wet.” Vine said with a smug grin.

“Go fuck yourself.” Blaze said in a quiet tone as he gasped for breath.

“Hmmm what was that? I didn’t quite catch you.”

“I said go fuck yourself.” Blaze says in a much firmer tone.

“Oh, I could try and see if I can figure out how to do that, but not right now. I need to figure out what I need to do with you.” She rubbed her hoof against her chin in thought. While Vine was distracted, Blaze reared up and slammed his hooves onto the ground, emitting a wave of lava and fire towards Vine, who noticed it a second too late. Before the blast hit her, a slithering form jumped in front of her, taking the full blast. Half of its body was turned to ash, the other into sizzling chunks of flesh and bone. Looking down, Vine realizes who it is and screamed.

“NOOOOOO! LILY!” Rage fills her mind. She commanded the vines to grab every part of Blaze they could. Then she had the stronger vines plunge into Blaze’s sides. Blood seeped around the vines as Blaze screamed in pain and agony. With one sweep of Vine’s hoof, the vines all pulled their own way all at once, effectively ripping the pony to shreds.

A faint scream of a filly came from a bush to Vine’s right as she stares at her familiar’s corpse. She looked up with a sad face, tears formed on the edge of her eyes for the loss of her beloved pet. She watched as the filly ran to where the pieces of flesh, bone and other bloody body parts lie. The filly ignored the bloody plants as they retreated back into the ground and forest. She just sat down, and stared at the head of the one that showed her true love. Vine just watched the filly, unsure of what she was doing. Then she heard a faint sound of sobbing, which grew in volume until there was no doubt the little filly was crying. It broke Vine’s heart to see such a young filly crying, having just watch her dad get ripped to shreds in front of her.

Vine started to think to herself. “That poor thing. He wouldn't have died if he just came with me. But then that would mean that he would have to abandon the filly.” Then, a surge of memories of the oath that she took all those years ago came back to her. Her oath to serve and protect the Innocent and the young, to never leave a friend behind, and last, but not least, protect the ones of the future. With that Vine starts to cry her eyes out, because with the death of Blaze she ruined the future of this little filly. “I need to help this filly.” She thought to herself.

Vine walked up to the crying filly, who was holding Blaze’s head to her chest. Vine stopped as she started to notice the other body parts burst into flames. Vinyl’s tears fell on Blaze’s head as she hugged it for dear life. Then the head erupted into flames. Vine just watched as the filly stood back and started to scream “no” over and over again, trying desperately to put out the flame with sand and dirt. But to no extent, she just watched as her former foster dad’s head burnt away to a pile of ashes in front of the crying filly. Vine stood back and watched as the rest of the ash blew away with the wind.

Vine inwardly knew that even if she tried to help the poor filly, she would only receive rebuke from her. So Vine turned and took wing; she needed to take care of her own wounds from the fight. She was lucky that she was in her field of power. If Blaze had had one bit of flame around him, she would have been destroyed. For being the element of fire you are also entitled to take the title ‘God of destruction’. Where Vine was the ‘Goddess of life’. The sun was setting as Vine flew from the crying filly, leaving her to wallow in her tears over her dead father.

Present day

Vinyl was crying her eyes out as she thought about her past. BonBon was gently cradling Vinyl’s head as the crying mare let out her pent up depression into BonBon’s chest. BonBon and Vinyl didn’t notice Shamrock as he walked up to their booth.

“Excuse me, but it’s an hour past closing. I let you stay cause I know Vinyl, but I kinda want to go to bed now.”

“Oh I’m so sorry for keeping you. Vinyl lets go. You can stay at my place tonight.”

Vinyl didn’t say a word. She slowly rose out of the booth with Bon Bon close behind. As the two were leaving Shamrock pulled Bon Bon off to the side.

“Did Vinyl tell you about what happened with Blaze?”

“Uhh, yeah she did.”

“I see. That would explain why she’s down. I think she has a thing for you.”

Bon Bon looked at Shamrock questioningly. “What do you mean?”

“Well for one you got her to open up to you. I was the only other person that knew about Blaze. Mainly because I was friends with Blaze for a long time, before he found her. Other then that, nopony knows about him, and if they asked about her past. She would just get up and leave without a word. So the fact that you not only got her to open up, but willingly, must mean that she respects you a lot.”

“Oh, that was a pretty dark past. It makes sense why she would hide it. Thanks for telling me Shamrock. I guess I’ll see you around but I better go. I don’t want to leave her any longer then I have.”

“Yes, that would be best. Goodbye Bon Bon, take care.”

With that, Bon Bon scurries off to comfort Vinyl and to take her home. As the to walk Vinyl just wallows in the pain of her past. While Bon Bon ponders on about what Shamrock had said. Does she really respect me enough to tell me about her past, or is there something deeper than that? As Bon Bon pondered this she didn’t know that Vinyl was looking at her questioningly.

“You ok Bonnie?” Vinyl said in a quiet, barely audible tone.

“Humm.... Oh yeah I am just thinking thats all.”

“Oh, is it about my dad?” a tear rolled down Vinyl’s face as she said this.

It pained Bon Bon to see this; Vinyl has become a dear friend to her since they met a couple of weeks ago. “Yes and no.” She said with a sigh.

Vinyl stopped and looked at her. “What do you mean?”

“Well I am curious as to why you told me about your past. It’s not something that you would just tell to anyone freely. So there must be something that you see in me that would permit you to tell me.”

In Vinyl’s mind she was surprised that Bon Bon had pieced it together so quickly. But why should she be, Bon Bon was a very smart mare and also one of the most cute ponies she had ever seen. But she couldn't tell her what she truly thought of her. No, she would probably get mad and Vinyl didn’t want to think about losing one of her best friends. “Umm... I don't know... I just....”

As Vinyl stumbled on what to say Bon Bon knew that it wasn’t just because she respected her. Sure, it could be that but by the way she acted there was something more then just respect. Bon Bon was starting to think and was wondering if Vinyl actually had feelings for her more than just friends. Before Bon Bon could get a answer, they had arrived at Bon Bon’s house. Vinyl hurried inside as to bypass the question entirely. She curled up on the couch, ready to get some sleep. Bon Bon looked at Vinyl with concerned eyes as she was about to go to her room for bed when an idea came to mind.

“Hey Vinyl.”

“Hmmm?”

“Why don’t you come sleep in the bed with me tonight?”

Vinyl was very shocked with this request, but then again, why would she decline? It meant more time with the one she liked. “Ya, sure.” Vinyl gets up and follows Bon Bon somberly still in her depression from earlier. Vinyl watches as Bon Bon gets in bed on one side while Vinyl gets in on the other side. As Vinyl was about to go to sleep she feels a shift in the bed and arms as they wrap around her neck. Vinyl fell asleep with a smile on her face, something that hadn't happened in a long time.
