Trixie's Uprising
Out Cold Part 2
Previous ChapterI pulled on my new cape, but it was missing something. Maybe something besides just the blue cloth, but of course I was used to not worrying about the small things. Survival was my mission, and I will never give up!
I started a slow trot out the alley way onto the sidewalk of the dirt and stone road. My destination was to find an area to live off of, but I guess I am just new at the whole traveling thing. I’m used to living in a tiny rotting box.
I followed the sidewalk passing several ponies who just glared at me like I was in their territory. I kind of was, but I was just passing by. There were some nice looking ponies, like one that was kind of grayish and had a nice symbol on her flank. I liked her look, but she was more interested in her companion, a white pony, with shades.
I galloped a little with a skip, but then I saw it. In a window of a shop, I saw the most amazing thing… A perfect shade of blue to match my cape, and a few stars, that made this hat stand out. I stared at it with envy. I never had wanted anything but to know I can see tomorrow, but this… I didn’t want, I needed.
Though I am not a pony for design that hat was a gem! I stood on my two hind legs, not paying attention to the fact that my hind leg was working fine again, and stretched my front legs to rest my hooves on the glass pane of the shop. I drooled over that hat. I would kill for a hat with the power that one showed.
I quickly ran to the door and nudged it open to go into the shop. One the door was opened; I raced over to the glorious hat.
I stopped dead when I stood right in front of it. My heart just melted looking at it. I stood on my hind legs again and reached my hooves up to it, then took it into my hooves down to my level.
I propped it onto my mane, and it fit almost perfectly, but slid just a little down to stop at my tiny horn.
A smile crept onto my muzzle as long as I had it on. Then after first bliss, I started to trot out the store door, when a salesmare stopped me.
“That will be twenty bits” The salesmare spoke, while gritting her teeth to me.
“W-what is b-bits?” I asked horrified.
“Look kid, you got twenty bits or not?” She snapped even more enraged if possible.
I frowned and then mouthed “no” kind of choking on sadness.
She then ripped the hat off my head and then shoved her hooves on my rump to push me to the door.
“OUT!” she said coldly, with disgusted written all over her face.
I pulled my head down, and slowly inched out of the store.
Now, with all new low, I sauntered on the side lines of the road, going to nowhere. Somehow, I ended up next to the train station of the town.
I still was sad, but as right now, still along for the ride, I knew that one of the best things would happen next… Here it was.
“Hey” spoke an unfamiliar, and kind of silly, voice.
I turned my head to gaze upon the speaker. I saw the same happy friendly face. A gray Pegasus with blond hair stood to the side of me.
The pony looked like a filly, but I could be wrong. She was young, maybe young enough to be my age.
“Names Ditzy, but you can call me… Derpy” She said, then lowered her head and spoke again “Everypony does…”
I turned my head to look full on at her, and I saw her warm smile. She turned to look at me now, but I missed something, her eyes were not straight.
“Hey.” I spoke in reply.
She shuffled a bit, and then looked interested, then not so much. Her face was an array of emotions all in one, but it did not seem to mix well, and I couldn’t begin to imagine what she was thinking.
“Hey, um, well…” She stumbled for words.
She blushed then tried to speak again. “I saw you a while ago, and I wanted to say hi…” She said almost sadly.
“Well, now is your chance.”
“Well, I just want a friend, and you looked like you are about my age…”
I thought a bit, then realized I had noticed a gray splotch a lot after I left that alley way.
“I wanted to become your friend… I don’t mean to sound weird, but I don’t have many friends, and you look like a nice filly…”
“Why thanks, I don’t know what to say really, I am quite flattered.”
Nopony ever told me I looked nice, or even cared to know me. I wonder what was going on?
“Well, I guess we can be friends?!” I spoke, but cracked my voice at “friends”.
Derpy then cast a bright smile on her muzzle and then her eyes began to water up. For a second her eyes were in sync, and then they went back to the last position.
“T-than-k you, for being my frwend” Derpy spoke, and cracked even more than I did, then a tear streaked her face.
I didn’t know how to feel or how to act; this was a total new experience. I felt like I just discovered the meaning of life itself.
“I have a gift, for you… I wanted it, but you can have it. It is the best I can do for a friend right now.” Derpy continued speaking, but I was a sentence behind. She spoke in a weird manor, but I have no problem with that.
Derpy turned around, and tugged something in her mouth, then turned back to me. She blushed then laid it next to me.
“There you go!” Derpy said with her head upward with a look of triumph in her face.
I studied it; it was brownish and wrapped in a foil of some sort. I wondered whether I should pull the foil off, or leave it on. I didn’t understand it.
A few seconds later I poked it with my hoof and it squished inward and fluffed itself back out.
“Thanks?” I said as gratitude to the “gift”.
“Hrm? You are supposed to peel the wrapping off first!” Derpy replied with a little laugh.
“Ok?!” I nonchalantly said, but entertained by pulling the wrap off the object.
“Bahaha! It’s a muffin; you’re supposed to eat it. Trust me, they are really good!”
I looked confused, then nibbled off a chunk with my teeth, then swallowed. I had a little feeling that I should have not eaten it, because that this pony really mysteriously wanted to be my friend. Some ponies are not as good as they look.
It tasted extraordinary, with a flavor of bananas in it, and the creamy light feel of bread soft on your tongue. I felt like I was going to drool.
I whipped my head down, feeling the tug of my cape and ignored it, and chomped a mouthful of the “muffin”. Once when my teeth split the soft bread, I stopped all motion and my eyes drifted upward to see Derpy.
Derpy was fondly entertained, and curiously asked “Is it any good? I know I like them, but do you?”.
I sort of nodded and then swallowed hard leaving just a little bit of crumbs where the muffin was.
“It was amazing! I truly loved it!” I replied cheerfully.
“Wait hold on, you have some crumbs on your cheek, let me get that for you.” She said with a tilt of her head.
She reached her front hoof out to my cheek, and I felt like my face was burning, and I hope it wasn’t a noticeable blush.
Lightly scrapes of her hoof made the crumbs fall off my face. I then thanked Derpy when she stopped.
“ALL ABOARD!!!” yelled a pony in a checkered shirt and an overall.
“Well, this is my train, I have to go to my mom’s house in Los Pegasus.”
“I don’t have anywhere to go could I come along?” I questioned
A look of excitement came over her face, but something was wrong.
My vision was bending… Everything was distorting and then it split into two or three images.
Finally everything disintegrated, leaving nothing but complete, utter darkness.
