It was the night after the celebration of the defeat of Discord and the Purple unicorn Twilight Sparkle was in the basement of the library of Ponyville, tuning up and organizing some of her machines late into the night. She had just moved a large machine with her magic when she notice a open door with a staircase leading down behind it. "That wasn't there before," Twilight thought.
Twilight being as curious as ever went down the stairs to investigate this new part of the library that she thought she knew everything about.
What she found down at bottom of the stairs was something her brain could not comprehend, she was seeing it but her brain wasn't registering it, what she saw was a very large magnificent L-shaped hallway, the walls was made out of beautiful black ebony, the floor was made from marble with intricate gold patterns etched into it, the doors where very large and made with oak and the door knobs were made from obsidian, they were spaced quite far away from each other which would suggest large rooms, and it was all under her library.
Twilight moved to get a closer look at one of the doors, it was beautifully made, hoof carved with the same pattern that was on the floor the obsidian doorknobs were quite well made as well. Next to the door was a gold plaque engraved with "library-c".
Twilight as the bookworm she is, could not hold back her excitement as she blasted the door right off it's hinges expecting to find loads more books that she hasn't read before.
When the purple smoke had disappeared she found herself looking into the largest library she had ever seen, but her eyes soon came to focus on a black alicorn colt who said "oh great." Before Twilight having never fainted before especially in a library fainted. the only thing she could remember was the black colt dashing over to catch her as she fell.
When Twilight finally came round she found her self in a king sized four poster bed and covered in a blanket the same color as her coat with her cutiemark embroidered on it. Twilight sat up to have a look around the room that she was in, the room was way larger then her own room, it was rectangular as well, there was a chest encrusted with emeralds at the foot of the bed, there was wardrobe that Rarity would properly die for, for the glass in the mirrors was made from diamond, the sides were encrusted with rubies, the wood was shiny black ebony, with two gold doorknobs encrusted with multiple gemstones. The floor looked like it was made from shortly cut grass blowing in a slight breeze but when she put a hoof down on it, it was actually carpet. there was a magnificent expertly made desk opposite too the bed, there was a massive bookshelf with every sort of book you could imagine next to the desk.
When Twilight finally got up after studying the room for quite some time from her bed. she noticed as soon as she stopped touching the bed her cutiemark disappeared from the blanket and it turned plain black. 'whoa,' Twilight exclaimed 'that's not possible.'
'Yes it is,' said a voice near the door.
The purple mare quickly turned to the door to see the same black alicorn she saw just before she fainted.
'who are you,' twilight asked.
'Finally somepony actually asked me just one question not a whole string of questions at once, you have no idea how many people ask me more than one question at a time.'
'Ah sir my question.'
'Oh yes your question, well my name is Prince Shadow, as you should remember now I am the princesses brother." said Shadow.
'oh your highness I'm sorry I didn't realize,' Twilight apologized then bowed. 'get up please you don't need to do that in my presence like you do in Celestia's or Luna's plus you can just call me Shadow.'
'hang on a minute,' said Twilight getting up, 'what did you mean by "as you should remember now that I am the princesses brother,"?'
'Well I should probably tell you now. It happened a thousand years ago, just after Celestia sent Nightmare Moon to the moon. I was working on a way to change Luna back to... well ah Luna, and I just found a way just after Celestia sent her to the moon, I was devastated that all my work had been for absolutely nothing, so i cast a spell that made everypony forget that i even existed until they see me in this form, i also erased myself from every book that told ponies of me. And that's why you fainted and it's also the answer to your question,' replied Shadow.
'So Shadow, what is this place anyway?' asked Twilight.
'you are in a guest room in what I call the sub-basement.'
"if this is just a guest room I wonder what his room is like," Twilight thought. And as if Shadow read her mind "he probably could." He asked 'would you like me to show you my room and everywhere else in the sub-basement?'
'Yes please, if it means going into that wonderful library again except without the fainting,' replied Twilight enthusiastically.
"well come on outside into the hallway then,' said Shadow as he beckoned Twilight to follow him.
When they where out inside the same magnificent hallway that she was in when she first came down the stairs Shadow asked 'what mode of transport would you like to travel by: Walking, Running, teleportation, rollercoaster, flying, water slide, carriage, train, tram, boat or any other forms of transport that i didn't mention?'
'um... carriage then,' replied a confused Twilight.
'okey dokie loki then, carriage it is.' and with that Shadow's horn began to glow black then a blinding flash of light that obscured Twilight's vision was emitted from his horn. When the light faded, Twilight blinked her eyes a few times to clear the spots and saw a beautiful gold and oak carriage with her cutiemark on the door 'wow!' exclaimed Twilight, 'if only you created our carriage for The Grand Galloping Gala.'
'well if you knew I existed back then I probably would have. well then hop in, there's a drink stand, sandwich bar and a pop corn dispenser if you get hungry this is going to take a while."
