Harry Potter: Into Darkness Part 3

Voldemort looked at destruction on the slopes bellow him. He then lifted the wand and fired a spell. It shot into the sky causing the clouds to darken.

The Death Eaters and 20 surviving Changelings suddenly stooped fighting and looked up at the signal. The Death Eaters turned into plumes of smoke and flew to the cliff. The Changelings flew to the cliff after the Death Eaters.

Now, the few remnants of the Hogwarts staff and students stood looking at the sky. The ponies, exhausted, looked at their human comrades.

“Quickly” Minerva said “We must bury our dead.”

Bellatrix and the injured Snape apparated to a remote island. It was, in fact, the spot where Voldemort took the Elder Wand (the most secluded place Bellatrix could think of).

She then looked for Snape’s wound and once she found it she began reciting the healing spell Snape had used on Draco. Once Severus’ breathing returned to normal he opened his eyes and saw Bellatrix looking at him.

And smiling. Something that he rarely saw.

“Are you alright, my love?” Bellatrix asked as Severus got up and washed any remaining blood off his robe.

“Why?” Snape asked.

“W-What?” Bellatrix asked.

“Why did you save me?” Snape replied.

Bellatrix didn’t answer but did some hand ringing and eye searching. Snape took notice.

“Bella” Snape said “is there something you’re not telling me?”

Bellatrix didn’t answer.

What is wrong with this woman? Snape thought to himself She’s a total psychopath and yet now she isn’t doing anything? I don’t-

Snape’s thoughts were stopped when Bellatrix kissed him. Her eyes were closed and then his closed after a second. The kiss ended with Bellatrix pulling away and turning her back to Snape.

“Well, you see Snape, I…I love you.” Bellatrix finally said “I don’t know why but I just feel safe around you.”

She turned to Snape (who was behind her now) and leaned in to kiss him again.

“Bella…no.” Snape said.

Bellatrix backed away slightly.

“But why?” Bellatrix asked.

“Bella, please understand when I say no.” Snape replied “I say no because Lily is still alive and she is my one true love. You're an amazing person, but I can't be with you. I'm so sorry.”

“But…she’s dead!” Bellatrix pointed out “Isn’t she?”

“I’ve discovered she’s inside the Elder Wand. And I finally have a chance to be with her again.” Snape replied.

Bellatrix couldn’t help but shed a tear at that. Snape sighed and stoked her face.

“Come with me.” Bellatrix insisted “Harry doesn’t need you. You’ll be safe with me.”

“He needs me now more then ever.” Snape replied.

He started to walk off then turned around.

“Goodbye, my friend.” Snape said before he apparated away.

“Goodbye.” Bellatrix whispered.

Harry, Ron and Hermione walked into the courtyard of Hogwarts and looked around. The castle had been devastated. Towers were covered in holes, rubble virtually lay everywhere, a bell from the tower had fallen and was now amid the rubble. John and Jennifer stood at the entrance to the grand hall. Jennifer ran to Hermione and embraced her daughter and kissed her forehead.

“Oh sweetheart!” she sobbed “Are you alright?”

“Yes mother.” Hermione said sadly.

“What’s wrong?” John asked.

“Snape died tonight.” Harry said.

“I’m sorry.”  John said “But come inside. You need your rest.”

John, Jennifer, Harry, Ron and Hermione walked into the grand hall. What Harry saw made him fell absolutely horrible.

One hundred people lay dead on the floor. Two nurses were busy tending to the wounded. Horace was bandaging Twilight’s forehead and Sybil was crying over a dead friend. Harry looked to his right and saw Tonks and Lupin and Remus dead. Lucille McGillicudy looked at Harry and smiled weakly.

Ron noticed Madeline, Ginny and George sobbing over someone and ran to them. But he then saw they were crying over Fred. He knelt down and broke into heaving sobs and leaning onto Madeline’s shoulder.

“I’m sorry.” Madeline sobbed “I failed you all. Your mother trusted me. And I failed you.”

Ron got up and then walked away. Madeline prepared to get up after him.

“No.” Hermione said softly “I’ll go after him.”

She then followed Ron.

Harry then walked past Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Rainbow Dash.

“Hey kid, you alright?” Rainbow Dash asked.

Harry shook his head and walked away. Twilight then walked up to the ponies.

“I think you should go after him.” Applejack said “In case he needs you.”

“Alright then.” Twilight said following after Harry.

Draco sat solemnly in a corner. Astoria Greengrass sat down next to Draco. She looked at him but he didn’t look back.

“Draco, you alright?” she asked.

“Yeah.” Draco replied.

Astoria then took Draco’s hand and began blushing. “I-I know I’m not Ginny or Hermione or any of the other girls…”

Draco then looked to her.

“What?” he asked “Astoria, what are you talking about?”

Astoria said nothing but instead pulled Draco into a soft kiss. Her eyes were closed the entire time and she hoped Draco wouldn’t recoil. It was her first kiss. It was very shy, unpracticed and very frightened. Draco’s eyes were wide as Astoria kissed him.

“Draco Malfoy” she said breaking the kiss “I’ll love you to the day I die.”

Draco just couldn’t believe it. This woman he’d barely even known had just kissed him.

“How long has this been going on?” he asked.

“Quite some time.” Astoria replied shyly “I-I-I don’t know why but you just make me feel safe and that I can have someone to protect me.”

“But…I’m a Death Eater.” Draco pointed out.

Astoria put a finger on Draco’s lips.

“Don’t say that. It’s not true.” Astoria said “You did so to protect your family. I understand.”

“Astoria!” Pomona Sprout called out.

“I have to go.” Astoria said before walking off.

Harry walked into Dumbledore’s office and brought the Dish of Memories out. Harry then stooped.

“Only one person could sneak up on me like that.” he said turning to Twilight.

“They sent me to check on you.” Twilight said shutting the door.

“I might need you here in case the memories are too much for me.” Harry said.

“Whose are they?” Twilight asked.

“Snape’s.” Harry replied.

“Go for it.” Twilight said.

Harry poured the tear into the bowl and the following memories began to show:

The first was of Severus as a child. He had heard the sound of a girl crying. He peeked from behind the tree and saw a girl with red hair crying softly.

“What’s wrong?” Snape asked.

The girl looked up at Snape.

“I’m a freak.” the girl said.

She then held out her hand and a flower appeared and floated away.

“That’s not unusual.” Snape said.

He then picked up blades of grass, rubbed them in his hands and they flew away (literally). The girl smiled at Snape and he smiled back.

“I’m Lily Evans.” the girl said.

“I’m Severus Snape.” Snape replied “Who called you a freak?”

“My sister.” Lily said.

“She’s jealous.” Snape said “She’s ordinary and you’re special.”

Lily laughed. The second memory then appeared which was of Minerva McGonagall sorting the children at Hogwarts.

“Lily Evans, you will be in Gryffindor.” Minerva said.

This lead to a round of applause and Lily sat down next to a brown haired boy.

“Hi, I’m James.” the boy said “James Potter.”

“Hi, I’m Lily Evans.” Lily said.

The next memory showed Severus and Lily walking and James ramming past Snape making him drop his books. He however turned and looked at Lily who looked at him.

The next memory showed James and Lily kissing and dancing.

It then changed to a memory showing Snape as a young man giving the Invisibility Cloak to Lily.

“A gift from me.” Snape said.

Lily smiled. “Thank you.”

She then kissed him on the cheek and walked away.

The memory then flashed to a brief one of Voldemort with his wand pointed at Snape.

“No! Don’t kill me!” Snape begged.

The next memory flashed to one of Dumbledore and Snape on a cliff ledge.

“The prophecy did not refer to a woman.” Dumbledore said “It spoke of a boy born at the end of July.”

“Yes but it’s her son.” Snape said his voice breaking “He intends to hunt them down and kill them. Hide them. Hide them all. I beg you.”

“What will you give me in return?” Dumbledore asked.

“Anything.” Snape said.

The next memory showed Voldemort walking in menacingly towards Harry’s bedroom.

“Harry, you are so loved.” Lily said as she wrapped Harry in the Invisibility Cloak “Mamma loves you. Daddy loves you. Harry be safe. Be strong.”

Suddenly Voldemort burst in and fired a kill spell. The next memory showed Snape walking into the house past James’ dead body and up to the bedroom. Upon seeing Lily’s body, he fell to the ground and sobbed. He then cradled Lily in his arms.

“I’m so sorry!” he sobbed.

He then kissed Lily on the cheek.

“I love you.” he whispered.

The next memory showed Dumbledore and him in the Astronomy Tower.

“You swore to keep her safe!” Snape said.

“James and Lily put their trust in the wrong person.” Dumbledore said.

“But the dark lord-” Snape started.

“The dark lord will return.” Dumbledore said “And when he does the boy will be in terrible danger. If you really loved her-”

“No one…can know.” Snape said cutting Dumbledore off.

The next memory showed one of Harry and Snape.

“Don’t say a word against my father!” Harry yelled.

“James Potter.” Snape said “Lazy. Arrogant. Adulterer.”

“My father was a great man!” Harry yelled.

“Your father was a swine!” Snape yelled back.

The memory then shifted to one of Snape and Dumbledore in the Astronomy Tower.

“There will come a time that Harry Potter must be told something.” Dumbledore said.

“What?” Snape asked.

“You see, when Voldemort killed Lily Potter, the curse bounced off the Invisibility Cloak.”  Dumbledore explained “When that happened a part of Voldemort’s soul went into the only thing it could find…Harry himself. There’s a reason Harry can hear snakes. There’s a reason he can look inside Voldemort’s mind. A part of Voldemort lives inside of Harry.”

“So when the time comes…the boy must die?” Snape asked.

“Yes.” Dumbledore replied.

“You have kept him alive so he can die at the proper moment.” Snape said “You’ve been raising him like a pig for the slaughter.”

“Don’t tell me you’ve come to care for the boy.” Dumbledore said.

The gears then turned in Dumbledore’s head and he blinked in surprise.

“Lily. After all this time?” Dumbledore asked.

“Always.”  Snape replied.

And then the memories ended.
