Chapter 7: Out with the Old, In with the New

Crescent had been in his room for quite some time. Luna had become concerned. Sure, she loved the amazing human technology that has evolved throughout the age of space and time. But she mostly cared for Crescent, seeing as the two became very close lately. Luna came to Crescent's door as she closely leaned in her ear to hear that there was a sniffling noise. She opened the door, she watched Crescent as if his torturer had called his trump card upon him. "Crescent..." She softly spoke as she walked next to him and placed a gentle hoof on his head. "She pushed his head revealing his face, it was red along with his eyes, trails of tears began to flow down to the side of his face. Luna gasped is horror as she quickly brought his head to her chest in embrace. "Shhhh.... it's okay."

"No......it's not." He spoke weakly as a few hiccups soon came after. Luna patted and rubbed Crescent on his back continuously until he felt comfortable enough to talk. He rose, breathing weakly like a fish out of his pond. Luna once more embraced him for more comfort as Crescent returned the favor. "Okay......okay....I think I'm ready."

"What happened." Luna asked, holding her lover's soft gentle wet face.

"I......I don't think you'll like what's happened....." He said looking away from her face.

"Please, tell me. I love you and I will be here to take care of you."

"I.....I k-" He paused, still remembering the past event in a flash. It was creeping against his mind....haunting him. He gulped to clear his words and he tried to make them again. "I k...k....killed a man Luna."

"W-What?" Luna covered her mouth in shock and let go of her gentle hoof.

"You must understand Luna, the man had a gun to an innocent bystander."

"What is a gun?" Luna asked with tears slowly dropping down her cheeks.

"Well, you know what a crossbow is correct?"

"Yes, we have them mounted on our castle walls to protect the castle. They fire projectiles more accurately correct?"

"Yes, a gun or firearm as it was called first, is around a hundred times worse. It's light, powerful, and easy to use. It can kill anyone with just one flinch of the finger, and boom. A metal pierce round goes through you, and could kill you almost anytime." He paused as he held his head which started to fall with guilt and depression. "He had the gun to an innocent so I had to act. I took and crowbar and bashed his head till it....broke apart like a watermelon."

Luna's eyes widened as she wrapped her hoof around her lover's hand and pulled his towards her chest. Crescent continued, "I had to do it Luna... it was either he takes the life of an innocent and me, or I take his."

"It's okay, I understand Crescent."

"No Luna it's not okay. I could have reasoned with him, I have blood on my hands now Luna." Crescent looked at his bare hands, there wasn't literally blood physically there, but he can see splashes of red murder on his hands. Luna embraced him harder, for his cold murder haunted him. She wanted to warm him with her love, hoping it would ease his mental scar. Crescent sobbed again. "I'm so sorry Luna."

"Crescent, look at me please." He stared deeply into her turquoise crested eyes, feeling the flow of trust from her. Luna placed a gentle hoof on his cheek. "There are things throughout my years that I have not been proud of. Things I've done, that can never be undone. Believe me, I know how it feels, to sculpt death." Luna had also shed a tear, she could remember what she had done, as her darker, grimmer side. Nightmare Moon. "But I also remember that I had no choice, to save others from the menacing, and somethings......just sometimes, you have to do it by any means necessary."

The two stayed in the same position for what felt like hours. Time had gone by, the cold air was beginning to thicken on the two as their skin harden and shivered with cold. "Thanks......Luna....." Crescent felt.....something warm, as if he could forgive a thousand sins. But the pressure was too much for him to bear at the moment, and he just fell on his sheets.

"Crescent!?" Luna first shot in worry but found that the human was still breathing and well. She smiled with relief as she applied sheets to the human and came to his ear and whispered, "I can wait one more day or two, Equestria isn't going anywhere." Luna left the room as she silently closed the door behind her, she trotted her way back into the so called 'tribute room' and continued to play her video game.

---Meanwhile---

"Anything girls?" Twilight asked her friends after they all gave a long search for the princess. "Because Spike and I found no trace of her, or her magical presence."

"Nope." Applejack Sadly reported

"Nothing Twilight." Rainbow Dash dropped. "Anything Shy?"

"I'm....sorry, my furry creatures and I couldn't find anything....sorry."

"It's okay darling." Rarity chimed in to cheer on for Fluttershy's attempt of search. "I couldn't find anything girls."

"I can't find any trace of her, I even checked at the wall!" Pinkie exclaimed as her friends looked at her in a confused fashion. Twilight dragged her hooves across her face as she weighted her cheek on her hoof in frustration and depression.

"Equestria needs her girls." She

"We all know Twah, I'm sure the princess is fine."

"Thanks girls, I hope she's fine."

---Back on Earth with Luna and Crescent---

Crescent woke up in a small daze as he rose from his bed. He looked out his window to find that morning had already struck. He found himself in the same clothes from the other day. He sighed at the thought, what happened at the other day will stay that way, and hopefully away from him. He moved out of his bed, scratched his eyes to scrape off some barnacles and walked out of his room. Down the hall he walked and stopped at Luna's room. He peeked inside to find her sleeping soundly and peacefully. He sighed with relief, knowing that she's still here with him. He went back to his room, took fresh clothes, took a shower, and then proceeded into the kitchen with a special surprise in mind. He opened his fridge and retrieved sour cream, eggs, cream cheese, a lemon, and butter. He then reached into the cabinet and took out graham crackers, vanilla extract, sugar, and cinnamon.

As for Luna she woke up shortly after, yawning after a good sleep as she could hear a engine whirring sound coming from the kitchen. She leaped out of bed, shook her head around to regain herself as she trotted to the sound. She found Crescent working on something in the kitchen as he added the last ingredient to his mysterious mix. "Good morning Crescent, what are you making?"

"A special thank you present." He said as he took a spoon filled with the mix and handed it to Luna. "Care to taste the mix before it's baked?" Luna nodded as she levitated the mix into her mouth as she tasted the mix. It was sweet with a small kick of tang, she also tasted a small punch of lemon on it as well. "This is delicious.....wait a minute...isn't this-"

"Cheesecake!" Crescent exclaimed as Luna rushed towards Crescent and pressed her lips against his. Then connected her tongue with his, but she still had the cheesecake in her mouth so their kissed turned out sweeter than usual. To both of them this was new, but they let it slide and played along. To Crescent it felt amazing, sweet, and saucy in a way. In the end the two departed lips as half of the cheese cake went to Luna, and the other to Crescent. The two giggled and laughed at their little stunt as the kiss was something they've never attempted with any other. "That was...new." He chuckled and smiled as Luna followed with a giggle and pecked him on the cheeks.

"I love cheesecake, but not as much as I love you." She admired as she snuggled her muzzle to his chest. "I'm going to continue that little video game of yours. This Twilight Princess is very astounding and somewhat graphic in a way." She said in hype as she trotted to the 'game room' as Crescent could hear Link's roars and Midna's giggles. He took the bowl of cheesecake mix and brought it to a cake-pan with a crushed graham cracker bed. He buttered the sides of the pan to prevent stick as he poured the mix onto the cracker bed, letting it slide across the cracker and spread evenly inside the pan. He took a rubber spatula and started to swerve it on the surface of the mix to evenly distribute the height of the cake.

"Done." He then took the pan of cake and carefully placed it inside a hot oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. He then closed the oven and set a timer on his phone for fifty minutes. After cleaning up the mess he had produce, putting back groceries, and taking out trash, he took out a few strawberries, bananas, and chocolate syrup from his fridge. "This i'll be the best cake I've ever baked." He admired to himself as he thinly sliced the strawberries and bananas which only took a sort amount of time. He finished the produce slicing as he finished the preparations for the cake's toppings.......now he was bored. "Damn....what to doo......" he looked around the room for something to pass the time. "Games? Nah, Luna's playing and I don't wanna interrupt her." His eyes then were attracted to his room as he remembered something. "Crap I gotta pack more, more clothes maybe."

---later---

"Okay so I triple checked my luggage. Three sets of shirts, pants, underwear, socks, and jackets/hoodies. Toothbrush and paste, and a razor and shaving cream. What else should I-" Crescent's ears twitch at the sound of bones cracking and swords stabbing. The sounds made his nerves shiver but his brain pulse an idea. He walked inside his tribute room as he took unnecessary but in lack of better words, awesome essentials. In a separate bag he packed his costumes and outfits from the assassin's creed franchise and a few weapons from his tribute room.

After checking his list he had three luggage bag; one with needed clothing; one small one with hygiene essentials and medicines if needed; and one with assassin's creed weapons and clothing. "Oh shit..." Crescent clearly hadn't thought this through, he realized that all of this luggage is to heavy to carry, and he can't put it on the motorbike. He had a car but the engine is broken.

"Crescent?" Crescent turned to fined a concerned Luna as she found the three bags we was going to bring. "What's wrong?'

"Well I want to bring all this stuff to Equestria with me, but I nor my bike can hold all of this." Luna only giggled at his situation which Crescent took insult to. But Luna giggled for a solution, she shimmered her horn as all of Crescent's bags levitated, slowly they were shrinking and shrinking until they were the size of pocket watches. Crescent's jaw dropped almost to the floor as Luna levitated them onto his hand. "W-W-What in the-"

"I shrunk them, do not worry Crescent. They are still there and you can fit them into a portable bag with you. Then once we get to the castle I can re-size them for you." Crescent gave sighed in relief and gave a small smile at Luna, he also tipped her with a peck on her cheek causing her to blush.

"You're the best y'know that?"

"I know.....Crescent......what happened with you? You seem.....different." Crescent left the room but he stopped his tracks from Luna's question. He gave a heavy sigh and continued to walked down the hall. He sat down on his couch heavily sighing more as he wiped and dragged his face.

"Well....I've been thinking about what you said, the thing about "saving others from the menacing, by any means necessary" and well.....I think you're right. You're words have made me a changed man, and that when in danger people need to be saved. Even that one man taken hostage."

Ding!!!

Both Crescent's and Luna's ears twitched as Crescent's head lightened up. "Cake's done!" He said bolting towards the oven and grabbing a pair of oven mitts. He turned off the stove, and set a rack on the counter. He open the stove as the wave of heat brushed his skin. He grasped the hot pan and set it down on the rack as he pulled out a toothpick and dipped it in the puffed cheesecake. He waited a few seconds as he pulled it out to find that the toothpick was clean. "Yes!"

Crescent's excitement took him over as he lifted the pan and placed it inside his refrigerator causing Luna to whine. "Aww but I want some cheesecake!" She pouted as she quivered her lips giving Crescent a puppy dog face.

D'AAWWWWWW Crescent screamed in awe inside as his he felt his heart pound rapidly. And then, a sudden pulse of pain and he grasped his chest in revolt towards the pain. "HNNNNGG!"

Luna gasped in horror at her lover's pain. "What's happening!?" Crescent only gave a few coughs as the pain soon subsided.

"Ugh, *cough* that was weird. It's like I had a small heart attack, who knows how that happened." He theorized as Luna gave a small peck at Crescent's chest.

"Did that make it better?" She asked with a warm smile as Crescent returned the favor with a hug.

"Yea....it did. Now about the cheesecake, it's still warm and it's gotta cool down to have that nice cool affect and pudding like texture."

"How long will it take?"

"About 15-20 minutes. So we can eat that and then get ready for tonight." Crescent said with determination as Luna had a small concern look on her face. Crescent caught that look as his determination and excitement turned to concern and fear. "Luna....whats wrong?"

"It's just....are you sure you want to do this."

"..."

"I mean, I'm fairly certain that you can never come back to this world after this, are you really sure you want to do this?" She repeated her question as Crescent gave a heavy sigh and smiled.

"Luna, I've had to weigh so much pain against my back and shoulders, but when you came into this world...I can't tell you how much pain has been lifted. It's time that I forget this past and start off with a new leaf. As people would say, 'Out with the old and in the the new'." He said as he held her hooves causing Luna's face to become beet red. "And you've become the angel in my life, lifting me away from my pain like a crane. So to answer you're question. Yes, I am completely sure and I am ready to leave this world for good. And I'm not turning back, EVER!"

---The Following Night, 'Moving Time'---

"Everything packed Crescent?" Luna asked her human. Who has a backpack strapped to his back.

"Yep, I've gotten pretty much all my things ready thanks to that spell of yours."

"Are you sure I can't bring the games? I love them so!" She begged as Crescent slowly shook his head.

"Sorry Luna, I would love to bring the games yea, but they'd be pretty much useless. I mean I don't think your Equestra has electricity to power my tv and video games." Luna stopped for a second and thought for a while. But then an idea came to be.

"I know, our scientists do have a generators, although they are prototypes. And one of my good friends owns one for her own personal research."

"Well alright, if you know it generates power and if you know that it might work then I'm down for the idea." Crescent allowed as Luna quickly flew to the tribute room, flashed his technology, and carefully levitated the tiny electronics into Crescent's backpack with a big smile upon her face. "Welp....hope these don't break along the trip." He hoped zipping up the backpack for the final time on his Earth.

"Okay, now do we take your bike?"

"Yea, put on the helmet and get on the bike and wait for me. I gotta grab something." Luna complied as she walked in the garage leaving Crescent alone to the house by himself. He walked around, the memories that were made, the fights, the dinners, the parties, the friends......his family....all no more. Not in this house. He gently placed a hand on a random wall of the house. "I guess this is it, if anything I'm sorry guys. But I don't want to live here anymore. I may sound crazy but before I move from the house permanently, lemme just say." He paused, placed his forehead on the wall, a tear flowing down with sadness but happiness. "I love you all..." He release he hand and entered his room.

He approached his closet and moved away his excess clothes until he dug up a small black safe. There he punched in a special numbered code that followed him all these years.

9-12-15-22-5-21-1-12-12

He opened the safe as it unveiled a single amulet. The pendant was a midnight blue sapphire in the shape of a crescent moon with a silver outline. He picked it up and placed it in a small box and placed it in his backpack. He gave a heavy sad sigh and stared at the safe with a smile. "Thanks Mom, love ya." He grabbed his helmet and left his room entering his garage where Luna sat patiently for him with a smile. He took his gas can and filled his motorcycle's tank to the top. As he got on and revved the engine, he walked out his bike and closed his garage door. And then he left.

Rain soon showered the neighborhood as lightning drummed around the sky. Then a single bolt boomed on top of Crescent's home, then the sides, the lawns, until his house was is a bonfire. Crescent didn't want to see it, he felt as if it was a message, as crazy as it was. He continued to drive with Luna as the rain strangely subsided quickly until the two reached where the portal was last seen, the park. "Okay so what's the plan again?" Crescent asked.

"What I'm going to do is keep the portal open, but we're going to need lots of speed. So we need to rush into the portal because once its fully open, kaput its gone. According to my calculations the portal should stay full open for 5 seconds and we need to force ourselves in. Once we're through, we can live happily together." Luna put in a nutshell with a smile as Crescent revved his cycle once again in determination.

"Alright! I'm ready!!!" Luna nodded as her horn sparkled causing the portal in the small distance to glow. Crescent revved his engine and hit the gas as the the motor vehicle stood on it's back wheel like when a horse stands on it's hind legs in pride. The bike rushed towards the portal as it became increasingly larger by the second. "Almost........theeeeeerrree!" She screamed, continuously pumped magic to the portal as the two's speed increased within miles per hour. The portal then expanded to a massive size, bigger than both Crescent and Luna as Luna gathered all the energy she had for one final push. "IT'S OPEN! GO CRESCENT GO!!!!"

Crescent roared as her pulled has gas to the max, going to a near seventy-five miles per hour as his bike hit the surface of the portal. Like a knife, it slipped through the portal as it closed in a blink of an eye. No Crescent nor Luna could be seen anywhere, but only a long line of fire and a license plate at the beginning of the trail of fire.

On the side of Equestria, it was dark and night time as Luna's moon glowed the night sky. But Luna wasn't there, yet. The portal from Earth had peaked, then ripped open as a large metal object holding two live forms emerged, flying from the portal. The sound of an engine out of Equestria roared throughout the night sky as it landed on the ground. Crescent immediately slammed his brakes as the pair began to slide on the rough dirt surface until they fully stopped. Crescent and Luna just sat there on the motorcycle breathing heavily from the amount of pressure and relief that had slammed upon them. Crescent took off his helmet, apparently with all the adrenaline he had sweated a tsunami.

He looked around him, he was surrounded by grass and plains, but left to him was a small town with a few lights on. And among the far distance, a massive castle hung on a mountain surrounded with gleaming marble that glowed in the night. "Damn.....did we do it? Is this Equestia?"

Luna looked at the moon, she knew it was her moon. She'd recognize that moon anywhere, and the castle was her's and her sister's. "Yes.....yes this is Equestria."

"Huh, looks like earth to me." Crescent said as he looked at Luna. "Welcome home Luna, now which way do we go? That castle of yours?"

Luna slightly shook her head in disagreement. "No, I must visit one friend before I go back to the castle. Please head in that direction." Luna requested pointing at the small village ahead of them.

"Okay." Conveniently for Crescent's bike, there was a slightly clean dirt road in the plains, he followed the road and stuck to it as it lead him the way to the small town. "So what's this town called?"

"A small town called Ponyville. I have really good friends living here."

Ponyville? Seriously, that name sounds like little girls made it just off the fly. I mean seriously in a world full of ponies, I'm pretty sure a town by the name of Ponyville would sound very cliche. But Crescent Didn't care, not one bit. He drove his bike to the town but as they reached the tip of the town he stopped and turned off his bike. Luna questioned his actions but Crescent quickly explained. "Better not to disturb the sleep." Luna nodded as the two walked side by side. Crescent held a hand at Luna's neck, rubbing her in a pet sort of way, his other hand however held his bike and walked it as if it were a horse. As for Luna, she tried to resist the urge to moan, for it would be too embarrassing.

"Okay, stop here." Luna said. The two were in front of a massive tree house, or house of a tree? Whatever it was, it was called a library, according to the sign. "Welcome to Golden Oaks Library. The home of my good friend Twilight Sparkle....oh and Spike as well." She said walking to the door. Three simple knocks with her hoof was enough the pop the lights inside the library.

"I'm coming I'm coming!" Said a child like voice. The door opened revealing a small lizard like creature, also known as a Spike. Although Spike was too busy rubbing his eyes from the barnacles, he didn't see who was at the entrance and grumbled. "Ehm shrry but the Library is Clshsed. Cm back in like ten hrs."

"Spike." Luna said in a calm and happy tone. Someone she knew for once after weeks of Equestrian isolation was there and here. And for Spike, his eyes popped up as he saw Princess Luna, the once missing for so long.

"P-P-P-Princess.......Luna!?" He was in utter disbelief. No words and random thoughts came to his mind. Was she real? Was she fake? Was this all a dream!? "N-No, No this can't be real. Am I dreaming?"

Luna quickly pulled Spike towards her with a big embrace and tears. "Its real Spike, I have returned." Spike who tried to be manly, couldn't help but leak tears for the missing princess. "Where is Twilight? I can imagine she is in a more worse state before I disappeared."

"I-I'll get her!" Spike said, in a cheery tune ignoring the spectator Crescent. He ran into the library as Crescent and Luna walked in, Crescent being a gamer was amazed at the massive tank full of books in the library. It made his gamer head hurt. "TWILIGHT! TWILIGHT!" A click from upstairs snapped as small and low sounded clops could be heard.

"Ughh!! Spike what is so importa-" She stopped in her tracks as she rushed and stood in front of Luna. Her mouth gaped open in complete frozen shock as her mind stood completely still. With a frazzled mane from stress and bags under her eyes, she looked like she was busy and stressed.

"Hello again, Twilight Sparkle." Luna spoke to her, who was also smiling at her, happy to see her favorite unicorn. "I deeply apologize for my absence without official leave, I will explain fully to what happened to me, where I went, and who I found. This here is-" Luna stopped as she took another good look at Twilight, she was frozen. Not literally, but metaphorically shocked frozen, as if somebody burned out the last neuron in her brain. Spike walked over to Twilight as he gave her a poke. But she slowly fell down on her side, legs still straight and stuck in a standing position and stayed statue.

Silence slowly filled the room, crickets rapidly "qwee'd" as Crescent had small guts to break it. "Soo.....is she gonna be okay?"

Author's Note

Here's the thing and go ahead and say you don't like this chapter. But I don't really like to write sad and depressing parts, but it feels well tied into the story since I wanted to give Crescent a much depressing past. Don't like it? Get out and don't ~~bitch~~ complain about it.
