The Pegasi Union

The EAF

‘There it was.’ He thought as he flew towards it. ‘The Pegasi Union’. For years he had dreamed of coming here. The thought of now being old enough to finally enter that fortress of cloud exhilarated him. There were all manner of Pegasi flitting about the tower. He put down my binoculars. “Well,” he said to nopony in particular, “still got a few miles to go!” And by a few, he meant forty. He smiled as he put the binoculars back in his saddlebags, stretched his wings, and went supersonic. He loved breaking the sound barrier. It was so peaceful. The only sound was of the CRACK-BOOM! of the barrier itself being broken, then, blissful silence. He looked back and smirked at the brilliant, shining, green, eight-point,  star-shaped explosion behind him. His name was Emerald Burst after all. It was very rare that a Pegasus could go supersonic. So rare in fact, that almost nopony had ever seen one do so. The most famous one would have to be Rainbow Dash. She had turned down an invitation to the wonder-bolts so as to stay with her friends, so loyal! As all of the colors blurred around him he couldn’t help but think of how he would present himself when he applied to the Equestrian Air Force, the toughest group of Pegasi around. Should he appear confident or secluded, show off his skills, or wait until the right time? As he looked up he noticed that it would be too hard to pull out of SS outside of the union building. ‘Well,’ he thought, ’too late now, might as well show off!’ as he shot into the building, he pulled up out of SS and , completely shifting the clouds, executed a perfect corkscrew landing that would have made his parents proud, wherever they were. Everypony looked up, startled, as the wailing streak that heralded his arrival arrived. Eight seconds too late. He fixed his ruffled feathers and walked up to one of the clerks sitting at the main counter."Who do i see to apply for the EAF?"He asked, silently smiling at the clerk as she hurriedly tried to put on a calm face. She pointed at an entrance way down the hall.

"Straight down there and to the right."She had quite a nasally voice and sounded as though she shouldn't have come to work today. He thanked her and continued on his way down the hall, still smiling inside as the many ponies in there tried to hide their stares. He wondered at all of the sights and sounds, smiling as he saw posters of the WonderBolts pinned up all over the place. This was the organization that took care of everything WonderBolt. Advertising, events, hiring, etc. But he wasn't looking to join the WonderBolts, he was looking to join the EAF. His lifelong dream of becoming a soldier in the great force of Pegasi that protected Equestria from above. Just like his father and his fathers father before that. He kept walking, looking around at all of the ponies milling about. He even saw a couple high ranking officials in the EAF rushing about as though their life depended upon it. While he was walking, he became increasingly aware of much shouting and many other noises as he got closer to the archway pointed out to him.. As he finally reached the office he was directed to, he couldn't help but feel amazed at all of the activity going on inside, not to mention the sheer size of the room itself. It was huge! At least the size of a Hoof-Ball field. If not bigger. He trotted up to a desk that was positioned in the middle of the archway that constituted as the door to the office itself. He rang the bell and waited, and waited, and waited. Nopony came up. He lost his patience, fast. "OI!" He shouted above the din,"Can anypony help me?! Anypony at all!?" A dark grey Pegasus flew over and smiled apologetically.

"Sorry sir, we are a bit busy as you can see, is there any thing I can help you with?" Emerald sighed with relief." Yes there is, I would like to sign up to the EAF." The clerk pony was stunned.

"You want to join? right now? Do you have any idea what's going on right now?!? There is a massive Changeling attack happening in Ponyville! The biggest one since the royal attack on Canterlot!" Emerald was quiet, a stunned look plastered across his face.

"Is-is there anyway i could help?" The pony rustled around in a drawer before pulling out a pin with the EAF crest on it."Here is a temporary badge, if you want to fight, it's yours. But if you die, don't blame me!" He said as he flew off. Emerald wasted no time in shooting out of the union building and going SS.

'Ponyville, here I come!'
