The Darkest Day

His name was Midnight Sun, And after that day, his life would never be the same.

The town he lived in, Dragonville, had a very small pony population. In fact, he was only the second unicorn to ever live there. Dragonestia was a Dragon-controlled country, and they got all of the benefits. The Ponies were segregated and sometimes enslaved, due to the fact that they were so very rare and different. He lived there with his friend spike(the only other unicorn) and his master, Twilight Scales. Twilight was relatively nice to him and spike, only reprimanding them when they did something truly unpleasant, as opposed to other dragons. As he went to the store he would often see other dragons through the windows beating their Ponies, and sometimes other things which made him blush that he would like to not mention.

Anyways, as he was walking through the forest gathering gems for Twilight one day, keeping an eye out for any Quartz (Twilight loved Quartz) he took a path he had never traversed before. It wasn't bad, it actually was quite beautiful, he couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable at the new surroundings. He trotted along and steadily filled up his little basket he used for gem collecting. 'Wow,I should remember to come this way more often.'He jumped as a twig cracked under his hoof,'But maybe next time I should bring spike along.'

It was around dusk when he finally filled the basket to the brim. The birds chirping their pretty good-night song as he made his way towards the main path made him smile, 'It's nice to know that some creatures are free in the world.' The light dimming, he started to move a little bit faster. It really wasn't smart to stay in the forest after dark, scary and nasty were only a few words one could use to describe the things that came out then.

He was almost out of the forest when he heard it. The most beautiful sound that he had ever heard. A mellow, whistling tone overlaying an almost indiscernible soft booming base accompanied by a whooshing call that fell across his ears like a boon from heaven. He turned in the direction of the sound, and was amazed that it was not the only thing there. There was a slow flashing blue light streaming through the trees. He started walking towards it, then broke into a gallop as the music was cut off by a crash and a cry. As he broke through the trees into a meadow with a pond, he ran face first into the side of a square blue door. As he started to drift into unconsciousness, he noticed a light brown earth pony standing over him. "Wh-who are you?" Muttered Midnight,

"Why, I'm The Doctor!" The mysterious pony exclaimed in a giddy voice.

"Doctor? Doctor Who?" The last thing he heard before he went under was a far away giggle.
