Race Wars 2

Austin felt the asphalt on his face. He felt a moment of blistering heat as the beam atomized the street he had been in moments before.

He got up and stretched. Then he noticed the twitching mass of pink and yellow he had almost crushed.

He heard a noise, and he took a look to the street, the 4 anuniki that were following had walked out on to the still red hot pavement, and were searching for him. Their heavy armor protects them from most environmental hazards.

Austin quickly loaded a new drum mag of armor piercing rounds.  He leaned around the corner and fired. The anuniki soldiers were caught of guard, the rounds knocking them back. He could see their silver blood boil when it hit the scorched ground.

Another two had fallen, and Austin had emptied the mag. The remaining two rushed forth to avenge their fallen comrade. Austin turned to run but then remembered the thing on the ground, he gave it a quick glance, and it spoke.

Fluttershy drifted back to consciousness to the sound of pounding thunder. A bipedal creature was leaning around a corner using it’s fingers to operate some sort of machine that generated the noise and an odd flashing.

The pounding stopped with a click, the creature dropped the contraption, only for it to be caught by the shoulder strap the creature wore. There were two mighty roars, and the sound of rushing foot steps. The creature looked at her, and she said the one thing she could think of. “help me.”

Austin was a quick thinker, it spoke English, so it must have been a U.C.o.E. species he wasn’t familiar with, so he scooped it up and ran. As he ran he drew his pistol and made a call over the com. This is Corporal Austin Macain, I’m approaching evac rout point whisky. I got two annies on my tail, and I would like any available soldiers to set up an ambush for them.

As Austin rounded a corner the area behind them was lit up by plasma fire, to Fluttershy it was a nightmare, two highly advanced creatures trying to kill each other, apparently they were quite smart, being able to set up ambushes, and apparently they had some form of magic, since they used plasma and could communicate out of each other’s presence.

As he ran he madly pulled the trigger of his pistol each time Fluttershy visibly recoiled at the bang. “It’s ok mam I protect people.” He said in an effort to calm the thing down.

Fluttershy was distressed, how could this violence protect anyone? She would scream, if her head didn’t hurt so much.

Austin rounded another corner, and ran out into a street. He noticed two soldiers getting out of cover assault rifles at hand. He jumped, and twisted around in the air so to not crush Fluttershy. The annunik came out on to the street, and a soldier stepped up from behind the corner, raised his shotgun, and blew the head of the nearest anuniki right off. The other two soldiers lay down suppressing fire on the remaining anuniki, before a crack like thunder from the roof tops sent a fifty caliber round clean through it’s head.

By this point Fluttershy had been reduced to a hyperventilating ball of fur by the extreme violence.

Austin lay the mare down on the ground, and she immediately curled up in a ball. “Please don’t hurt me.”, she squeaked out.

“Hey calm down, like I said I protect people, so you’re safe-ish with me.” Austin said. He added the ish since nowhere was safe in this city at the moment.

“Why are you fighting? What could be worth this.” Fluttershy asked terrified by everything. It wasn’t just the violence, she was one with nature, and all around her was concrete and metal.

“Freedom. The Anuniki want to dominate every species in the galaxy. We are human, slaves to no one.”, he said, he didn’t know exactly how the war had started, but judging how the annies treated other races they had concurred, it was safe to say the it was a war for freedom.

Austin realized something. The race war was the biggest thing ever, so how could this alien not know? “What are you, and where are you from?”

Fluttershy was not entirely stunned by this, once while she was sick she read one of the books from the sci-fi adventure section of Twilight’s library, and she had been a little bit hooked ever since. “I’m a pegasus pony from Equestria on the planet Equis.”, she answered as per the first contact plan she had thought up.

Austin did a quick Google search for the planet Equis, all that came up was a bunch of fanfics for a long dead TV show. “Ok then. Well you don’t seem to bad, so you can get off world with us if you want.”

Fluttershy’s heart stopped. Off world, as in not on planet, as in this actually was a war between different worlds, as in sci-fi adventure off world? Half of her was horrified, the louder half said, “Yes!”

One of the soldiers called over. “Hey the evac convoy is coming over, get your shit ready to go!” With that Austin scooped Fluttershy back up on to his shoulder and ran into the street.

The convoy was lead by 3 jeeps, 5 hummers, 4 LAVs, 5 Tanks and 6 small APCs. In the center was one of the 3 stories tall, 3 lanes wide, 2/3s of a football field long God Slayer APC a.k.a. their ride back to the Thunder. Brining up the rear was 3 conventional APCs, and 6 tanks.

Austin grabbed onto the ladder and climbed on to the roof of the APC, the APC had long since filled up, and now, there were soldiers clinging to the sides of the APC. “Ok wait here, I’m going to go get a med-kit, I tell you we need more trained medics here.” He said as he set her down and left.

He found some soldiers trying to save one of their comrades who had a plasma spike through the lung. Hey, mind if I take a couple o the pain killer pills in that kit, and a shot of the hydra vi-” he was cut off by the sound of a flat line, and then he had the entire kit thrown at him. “OK!”

Austin returned with he med kit and gave her the pill and pulled out the needle, then handed the rest of the kit on to someone else. “Ok take the pill, then I’m going to give you a shot of hydra, don’t worry it’s all going to be ok.

Fluttershy took the pill; it had a slight bitter flavor, and was a little tricky to swallow. Austin then gave her the needle; she felt a sharp pain that quickly dulled away. She felt stronger, and to her amazement her scrapes and burses were healing before her eyes.

“Raptors carrying honor guard! Coming in fast!” One soldier yelled as a pair of avian creatures swooped overhead and dropped of two elite anuniki warriors. Austin drew his pistol, only for it to be batted out of his hand by the anuniki’s war club, his pistol slid over to Fluttershy. The creature advanced on Austin, thinking fast he activated his plasma gauntlet and in one swift motion decapitated the warrior.

Fluttershy noticed a damaged part on the second honor guard’s wrist cannon, she picked up Austin’s pistol in her mouth aimed, could she actually end another’s life? She saw it advance on Austin, she pulled the trigger with her tong.

The bullet hit the plasma tube, causing hot plasma to fill the heavy armor meant to protect the warrior. Fluttershy watched in horror as the creature inside began to burn and liquefy. She had done that.
