What You Wish For 3: The Book of Earth Pony

Chapter 7

Discord

The night sky was dark, and the moon was yet to shine its glimmering light upon the forest trees for the smoke of the fires had blocked the skies. Alex, Lauren, Mike, Celestia, and Luna treaded carefully through the high grass, crunching the dead dry leaves under their feet and hooves. As they walked, they kept together as best as they could for the darkening night would soon blind them and being lost in these woods was suicide. Mike caught up to Alex as he shifted his assault rifle onto his shoulder and said, “So who’s this dude we’re visiting again?”

Alex turned his head, ready to answer, but Lauren interrupted him, “Discord is this universe’s god of Chaos, he is bent on ruling over the chaos capital of the world.”

Alex decided to intervene, he knew he had to keep Mike serious and said, “This guy is messed up and can mess you up in the snap of a finger, and we’re not visiting him…” Alex slowly turned his head back forwards as he said with thinning eyes, “we’re awakening him once again.”

The group came into a clearing of the trees; there were burnt plants everywhere with trees burnt to a crisp. Yet amongst the clearing there was a stone formation, one that looked to have been carved by fine hands of art. A closer inspection revealed the face of the devil of this world himself, Discord. The look in his eyes showed his last state of pure fear before he was imprisoned by the Elements of Harmony, his body language showed a strong sign of DO NOT WANT.

As Alex walked up to the statue, Celestia and Luna began to light their horns as they said, “We suggest you stand back, removing the stone from his body is a delicate job. We don’t want to put him in a bad mood.”

Alex slowly began to back up as he said, “Yeah well we don’t want him thinking we worship him either.” Alex quickly brought his fist back, he let a huge amount of energy charge up inside his knuckles. As his hand started to glow orange, he swung as hard as he could at the statue and watched as the stone began to crumble. The force of the impact sent the stone tumbling backwards as the chunks of rock flew away. Beneath the grey shell lied the living and breathing god, the expression soon changed from its last state of fear to anger as the stone around his legs shattered as well.

Once discord was free, he immediately began to slither away at high speeds. Alex caught him by the tail and grabbed hard, he quickly realized he was grabbing onto the tail of a god and that he would need to put up a fight this time. Discord tugged at his tail and turned his head as he growled, “Let me go foolish mortal!”

Alex smirked as he simply said, “Sure.” Alex then released the grip on his hands and let the monster go. Discord didn’t make it more than two feet away when he turned his head around just in time to get a foot to his face, the mortal had somehow managed to get in front of him and kick him with the strength of a thousand bison.

Discord tumbled to the ground, shocked at what had happened. Before he could get up, the mortal walked up to him and planted a knee on his chest. Discord tried his best to escape but for some reason the mortal had somehow harnessed power stronger than him.

Alex began to punch Discord in the face as he said, “Are we going to keep fighting or are you going to listen?”

Discord began to try and bite back as he snapped, “Never shall I work with anyone! I want my world back!” When Discord went to bite once more, Alex quickly wrapped his arm around his neck and put him into submission. He slammed him onto the ground and began to squeeze, his arm slowly making Discord’s neck begin to pop at the joints.

Alex began to feel his neck reaching its breaking point and grunted, “If I twist any more, you are dead!”

Discord began to struggle as he said through gritted teeth, “You can’t kill a god you foolish mortal, I shall get my Equestrtia back!”

Alex quickly lifted him up onto his feet; he turned his head to the castle as he said in anger, “If I can’t kill you, then I’ll reason with you. Is this the Equestria you want?”

Discord suddenly stopped squirming, he had suddenly begun to focus on the castle… or what was left of it. Discord’s eyes slowly widened with disbelief as the castle towers slowly began to crumble before his eyes, the whole city had begun to fall off the side of the mountain. Discord slowly muttered, “What… happened.”

Alex kept his grip tight on the draconequus, he knew these things were cheating bastards. Alex then looked back at the castle and remembered his mission, he began to calm down as he said, “Yeah… chaos happened.” Alex shook his head, he quickly got serious again and said, “Now I’m going to let you go, we are going to talk this over do you understand?”

Discord began to make patterns with his finger around his chest as he said, “You have my word.” Discord began to feel the creature’s grip lighten on his neck, he felt the burns against his skin and the strain of his muscles kick in as he got back up. Discord took a few steps back as he stretched out his neck, he kept his eyes on the ruins of the castle before saying, “If this was a gift to me… I want you to know I am a god of chaos, not death and destruction.”

Alex began to remember the stained glass windows that were in the once majestic castle, they showed pictures of ponies in flames and represented destruction and torture. Alex did his best to stay calm as he said to the god, “But those stained glass windows, they all showed you with flames and ponies burning and whatnot.”

Discord slowly turned around, he had a look that Alex would never expect to see on a guy like Discord: remorse. Discord blinked a couple of times before saying, “Back more than a thousand years ago, ponies had no sense of humor. They took offense to everything I did and blew it way out of proportion.”

Alex refused to believe this, the very idea that Discord would be an okay guy seemed downright wrong. Alex turned to the royal sisters to see Celestia say with a look of guilt, “It’s true, all he was doing was playing some games on them. But continuing after we did all the nice options to make you stop forced us to give you some tough love.”

Alex turned back to the god of chaos and with a look of confusion he said, “Right now you looked so eager to rule the world again like a god of death.”

Discord slowly approached Alex, he put his hand on his shoulder as he said, “Kiddo, for a kingdom like this I am pretty darn sure you would act the same way if you were forced out of office.” Discord then gave a dirty look to Celestia and Luna, the two gave nervous smiles as they backed away.

Alex began to gently hold Discord back as he said, “Look you guys, its been two thousand years and both parties made some mistakes. Discord didn’t stop when he was told to, and the sisters turned you into stone.”

Discord quickly corrected Alex, “Twice.”

Alex quickly brought up his fist as he said with a straight face, “I will turn you into a girl if you don’t let me finish… okay? Anyways, we’re in a time of great peril and we need an alliance. Discord, will you help us?”

Discord raised an eyebrow; he didn’t look too enthralled as he said, “Help you then just go back to being the most hated god ever? No thank you, I’d rather watch the fight.”

Alex shook his head before saying in an exhausted tone, “You will become rightful ruler of Equestria once this whole thing is back to the way it originally was.”

Princess Celestia and Luna were both shocked by Alex’s idea as they both said in synchronization, “Are you crazy?”

Alex motioned for them to calm down as he said, “He deserves it, he was kicked out without a vote. After figuring out this isn’t an aristocratic government, it seems to be some sort of demographic government. So Discord gets fair vote in this, if he helps us he gets his kingdom back.”

Alex looked back at Discord to see the monster dawning a look of great joy as he said, “Oh what fun!”

Alex raised his hand as he said with a stern look, “That is, if you rule fairly. No horrible schemes that will hurt a resident emotionally or physically. Just pranks of the sort.”

Discord smiled as he said, “Sounds just, after all I think I have learnt my lesson. I never wanted to do this to my kingdom and whoever destroyed it shall pay dearly.”

Alex smiled as he said, “There we go, and that gives you two girls some time off for a vacation for a thousand years or so.” Alex watched as Luna and Celestia both began to nod in agreement, quickly dawning looks of joy at the thought of a break from the royal rush.

Lauren slowly approached Discord as she said, “By the way, the enemy you are going to face is like no other.”

Discord slowly whispered to Alex, “Who’s the cute read-head there?”

Alex had a look of disapproval as he said with a smirk, “She is the god of this whole universe, she’s essentially your mother you sicko.” Alex watched as Lauren began to laugh and blush at the same time, Celestia, Luna, and Mike joined in near the end.

Discord gently calmed the crowd down as he said, “So you mentioned the enemies I am going to face? Who are they, who are you creeps anyways?”

Mike slowly let his assault rifle rest on its straps as he said, “We’re from the same species as the enemy. We are smart, cunning, nimble, many, and extremely deadly.”

Discord began to look puzzled as he said, “But why would you fight for us?”

Alex shrugged as he said, “In our universe, there are thousands of people who would choose to fight for Equestria with no regrets. But those are only the few of the billions of deadly metal machines that fly and spew fire that we will be facing.”

Discord nodded his head slowly in understanding as he said, “I understand, sort of.”

Lauren began to smile as she said, “So it’s settled then, we now have Discord on our side.”

Lauren stuck her hand out and watched as one of the cheesiest moments began to play out, one by one everyone else had their hand, claw, or hoof, in the center before Alex and Mike shouted, “Avengers assemble!”

Later, while everyone was at Twilight’s library discussing the plans to go looking for the Book of Earth Pony, Discord and Celestia sat together at the beach of a lake. The water gently reflecting the moons light in a distorted manner every time it rippled, the gently breeze making Celestia’s mane flow while it made Discord’s eyebrows sway in the wind.

Celestia began to breath gently as she said, “Beautiful night isn’t it?”

Discord began to blush as he said, “It truly is. One of the most beautiful things I had made. It was your sister that perfected it.”

Celestia giggled as she said, “Yeah… it’s been boring without you.”

Discord’s ear twitched as he slowly turned his head and said, “I… I don’t understand.”

Celestia looked into Discord’s eyes, hers were filled with honest joy as she said, “I’m saying that now with you as King of Equestria and a sense of morality, it’s going to be more fun around here.”

Discord smiled as he chuckled, “I never knew you had a sense of humor.”

Celestia began to inch closer as she said, “I never knew you could make me laugh. I’m not one for the whole chaos thing, but… you seem to have a sweet side.”

Discord blushed as he said while hiding his face, “Oh stop it you silly goose.” Discord then giggled with joy, his cheeks as pink as Pinkie’s ears.

Celestia extended her wing, she slowly draped it over Discord and gently began to pull him in for a hug as she said, “Thank you for making the right choice… Dissy.”

Discord was stunned, he had not heard the name in forever. He nervously brought his arms around her as he said, “You haven’t called me that in thousands of years. You haven’t told anypony about that right?”

Celestia slowly cocked her head back, she began to look Discord in the eyes as she said with the flutter from her lashes, “Not a single soul knows. Although I don’t think we can exactly call it official anymore.”

Discord slowly backed away as he said with a confused look, “What do you mean?”

Celestia shook her head before saying, “It’s this whole thing about me being hypnotized by a block creature before figuring out it was a monster with a bloodlust.”

Discord winked as he said, “Like you said, not a soul knows.”
