What You Wish For 3: The Book of Earth Pony

Sorry for the short chapter... I had a sh**ty week, mostly figuring out that this competition i have been waiting patiently for the past few months has disqualified me because no one gave me the task sheet. I had no idea the f*cking video was supposed to be done before hand and assumed that it would be like all the other competitions that were being held there. Anyways you guys don't care about the depression I'm in, you want the story right? Well unfortunately I have met a few... complications... with my love life and it's going to be hard for me to write with a passion so things might get a little shallow in the future. I am a dedicated author and will do my best, just don't get your hopes up too high like i did... *sigh*

Chapter 8:

My Fault

Alex looked at the new group, possibly the best candidate for the new Avengers/ X-men/ Teen Titans/ Justice League/ Knights of the Round Table/ Chaotix/ Blue man group. The team consisted of Twilight, Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie, Dash, Fluttershy, Lauren, Black guy to avoid racism, Discord, and yours truly. The entire group sat in the library, talking about the new plan that had been in the works since last night over finding the book of Earth Pony.

“The book has been lost for thousands of years, not a single living thing knows where it is.” Twilight Sparkle had searched through her books but alas could find no hints to where the book lay. She searched frantically through all relevant books, the sweat on her brow becoming ever so visible as the stress grew. Twilight eventually became fed up and chucked one of her books, quickly tossing it at Alex. Twilight opened the last possible book titled, “How to Cook” yet could find no information there either, finally planting her face in the pages as to say she has finally given up. From the pages she mumbled, “Oh, it’s hopeless, no living thing has seen it since before Prequestria.”

Alex looked over his shoulder when a voice had cleared it’s throat, “If I may say something, Dear Twilight, it’s that you are all mortal beings. I however have lived for the past hundreds of thousands of years, my father once told me about how he fought to get the book from the clutches of the earth Ponies.”

Mike turned towards Discord; he had been relaxing in the corner atop of a cloud showing no signs of worry at all. Mike gave Discord a look of frustration as he said, “Ya gotta make yourself heard, man, can’t you see that Twilight here got all doom and gloom cause of you?”

Discord slowly dropped the sky blue shades from his eyes as he said with a look of pity, “I thought I made myself clear, I like to watch some suffering every now and then. I am the god of Chaos after all.”

Mike cracked his knuckles as he said, “I’m about to turn you into a goddess of Chaos if you don’t contribute to the team.” Alex quickly extended his arm to hold Mike back, gently shaking his head as he restrained him.

Discord tilted his head back and gave out an exasperated sigh, he quickly hopped off of his cloud and walked up to the group as he said, “Look, Lauren, if you want to find the book, the only ones who would know where it is are my parents.”

Lauren shrugged as she said, “Well… where are they?”

Discord rolled his eyes, he thought he had made it clear enough and had no need to say, “They’re at their house… Duh!”

Alex’s brow lowered as his patience thinned, he looked Discord in the eyes as he said, “Where would their house be?”

Discord planted the palm of his paw on his face, he used his hand to quickly snag the history book from Twilight’s grip and turned to a significant page. He brought Alex and Lauren closer as he said, “They’re on the other side of the Big Flippin’ Ocean. That would be about a few days journey by boat there and back. Counting the time it would take to get to the book, I would say that this entire journey will take about a week.”

Dash began to groan, everyone looked up to see her hanging from the beams atop as she said, “A whole week? We might as well fly there with one of Lyra’s flying machines.”

Twilight shook her head as she said, “Unfortunately, Lyra hasn’t had the time to perfect a flyig machine for a journey that long. Besides, she needs time to set her office back up in her new home after… Canterlot was destroyed.”

Applejack slowly trotted over, she genrly placed a comforting hoof on the lavender unicorn’s back as she said, “Now now sugarcube, we can’t sit here and think about what has already happened if we want to change what is going to happen. Whether we like it or not, we have to travel by sea, which means we need a big boat.”

Rarity gave a fluff of her hair as she said, “I know where we could get a boat.”

Applejack raised an eyebrow as she said, “How come y’all have a connection to everypony important?”

Rarity slowly began to blush as she avoided eye contact, she sheepishly said, “I’ve… been around.”

Lauren quickly clapped her hands together as she said, “Well now that we have our means of travel to get to Discord’s parents, we need to know who’s coming along.”

Dash quickly flew to the ground in front of Lauren as she said, “I’m coming, there’s no way I’m passing up a big adventure.”

Applejack tilted her hat as she said, “I’ll be joinin’ y’all as well, ah know Dash here will get herself in trouble and ah want to see it.”

Rarity gave a swish of her hair as she said, “I would love to join, seeing the eastern countries would be a delightful experience.”

“I want to come, pick me! It’ll be so much fun!” Pinkie Pie quickly bounced up and down as she raised her hoof.

Twilight was replacing her books in their original order as she said, “I think we need someone with the know how to come along, and that someone would be me.”

Fluttershy brushed up against Alex as she said, “I can’t be alone without Alex, not that I’m attached or addicted to him. It’s just… well I will feel extra lonely now that I got used to Alex around the house.”

Mike reloaded one of his pistols before placing it back in its holster as he said, “No one here aside from Discord here knows what dangers are there, I was trained to lead a group in any situation.”

Discord shrugged as he said, “It’s kind of a no brainer why I need to come along.”

“Ditto.” Said Lauren as she helped Twilight rearrange her books, finally putting the last one back in its place.

Alex nodded his head as he said, “Lyra and Bon-Bon just went through losing their home, they need time to themselves to move into their new house. I however, will be joining because otherwise my book I’m planning on writing about my adventures would be pretty boring.”

Yet before the group could do anything cheesy, a small purple lizard came walking up as he said, “First of all, you all need to quiet down, second, you’re taking me along. I just watched my home crumble because of the bad guys, I want to watch you beat them.”

Alex shrugged as he looked at the rest of the group, he looked at Twilight to see her approval before saying, “Alright, you can come.”

Lauren placed her hand in the center of the group as she said, “So it’s settled. Boys and girls, we’re going on an adventure!” Lauren watched as everyone in the group placed their hand in the center, quickly stacking it up until everyone had placed a hand or a hoof.

While Fluttershy hugged her critters goodbye, giving each one a gentle hug to show she cared, Alex was carrying bags out the door to a nearby cart. Alex leaned over as he said, “Fluttershy, we have to go! Did you feed every animal a week’s worth of food?”

Fluttershy slowly hovered out of the house as she said, “Yes, I double checked too. We can go now.”

Alex nodded his head as he said, “Alright, you heard her, boys.” Alex looked down to the end of the cart at the two stallions that were strapped to it, they nodded their heads before beginning to pull the cart. As the cart slowly moved down the dirt road, Alex checked the inventory as he said, “So who did you get to take care of the house?”

Fluttershy brushed her head against Alex as she said, “The Doctor, I tried asking his name but all he said was ‘Exactly’.”

Alex slowly shook his head before saying with a smile, “I’m sure the doctor will recognize when an animal needs caring for, we’ll be fine.”

A few minutes had gone by, the couple simply looked at the buds on the trees as they began to grow their beautiful leaves. After a few minutes, Fluttershy broke the silence, “So… the bad guys are finally coming.”

Alex nodded his head as he said, “Yeah they are, hopefully showing them that their planes are able to be damaged by us is a sign that they need a few more years to perfect them.”

Fluttershy closed her eyes as she said, “I wish that there were other humans like you and Mike. You two are the only humans I know that are plain… good.”

Alex slowly brought his hand up and began to stroke her hair, as he did he said calmly, “There are others that are good, millions of them. In fact, some of those guys were probably good people but were forced to do the wrong thing.”

Fluttershy began to look confused, she attempted to understand such an idea as she said, “But why can’t they just say no?”

Alex paused; he had never truly understood why people don’t just say no to a tyrant or a bad guy. With such a large amount of followers who disagree with their leader, they are the ones in charge yet continue to work for the bad guy. Alex gently stroked Fluttershy’s mane as he said, “Sometimes… people don’t have a choice… maybe they do it to help people they love. They have right intentions, but were maybe doing the wrong thing.”

Fluttershy smiled gently as she said, “I like how our world doesn’t have that, everyone is nice and kind to each other and never fight.”

Alex contemplated the thought, he truly was in a Utopia, yet it was slowly turning to a Dystopia as the war approached. Alex was truly beginning to fear the lives of the Equestrians and how they might not be able to fight the human forces.

A few hours had gone by, neither talked; they simply looked at the trees passing. Trees soon turned to buildings, and buildings soon turned to beach as they approached the harbour. Docked at the harbor was one of the most majestic looking pirate ships Alex had ever seen, it looked to be straight from Hollywood with its fine wood, it’s beautiful sails, and the incredibly fine craftsmanship. Alex hopped off the carriage; he helped Fluttershy down before carrying his luggage on board. As he carried, he heard the voice of a white unicorn coo, “Oh Alex dear, what do you think of the boat? One of my old friends from school bumped into me and was generous enough to captain the boat.”

Alex scanned the boat from end to end; he was truly in awe of the fanciness of the boat. He let out a wolf whistle as he said, “This is pretty awesome, he sure is a generous colt.”

Rarity nodded her head as she sad, “He truly is.”

Alex boarded the ship, he carried the luggage into his new room and began to put it away. A gentle knock at the door made him look up to see Discord standing there, Discord slowly walked in as he said, “May I have a word with you?”

Alex looked back down at the clothes that had been half stuffed into the bedside drawers before saying, “Sure, I guess.”

Discord brought a hand over his shoulder as he said, “Walk with me.”

Alex gave a look of confusion before saying, “Okay…” Alex and Discord began to walk down the hallways before Alex said, “So what do you want to talk about?”

Discord took a deep breath before saying, “Love… more specifically yours.”

Alex raised an eyebrow as he said, “What about it?” Alex could feel Discord slowly begin to grip tighter as the continued walking.

Discord looked down at the human as he said, “You love Fluttershy, don’t you?”

Alex nodded his head as he said, “More than anything in the world.”

“And you want the best for her don’t you?”

“More than anything, I don’t want a scratch on her ever.”

“If that’s the case then you must leave her.” Discord’s face began to sadden, Alex could easily tell he was caring for Alex at the moment.

“Why? Why would I ever leave her?”

“Not like that, if you want her to stay safe then you must force her to leave for somewhere far away while the war takes place. You will have to leave her to stay behind and fight for the war.”

Alex began to grin as he said, “This won’t be that bad, all I have to do is make a few bright clouds with lightning and they’ll be running tail between legs.”

Discord stopped walking; his face had gone from sad to serious as he said with doubt in his eyes, “Is that so? Then take a look around, tell me what you see.”

Alex had not realized they were no longer on the boat; they were standing in the middle of a field while fire consumed the nearby trees. Explosions tore up the ground, soldiers both human and pony rose above the trenches only to be gunned down by the enemies. Both sides exchanged firepower as they destroyed the land with their anger, turning the surrounding area into the new Passchendaele. As they watched, Alex said in disgust and horror, “Where are we?”

Discord kept staring at the ongoing fight as he said, “Ponyville, a month from now. Over 50,000 deaths total within the first days, most of them were human. One of them being you.”

Alex looked up in horror as he said, “Are you saying that I’m going to die?”

Discord gently guided his face to the changing surroundings; the area began to ripple like the water on a pond. When the rippling had gone away, nothing had changed. Alex had a confused look on his face as he said, “What just happened?”

Discord knelt down beside him as he said, “I just changed the future for you,” When Discord got to his knees, the surrounding area returned to outside the boat, no war in sight. Discord slowly began to walk back as he said, “you can thank me if you want.”

Alex looked behind him to see Fluttershy and the rest of the mane six staring at him, they all had worried looks on his face as he said, “It’s alright, girls, just D and I having a chat.” As Alex boarded the ship, he could not get his mind off of the images he had seen of the dead ponies and humans simply laying there on the battlefield. Then it occurred to Alex, he was going to be responsible for the 50,000 deaths in only a few days. Alex began to feel his heart sink and blacken, this time he knew it’s going to last awhile.
